  1. URGENT ?????????? Sorry, this is gross. Ok, I was banded on the 6th. Yesterday I went pee and there was a little blood well, Today, I went poop a few times and when I was done and wiped there was dark blood on the T.P. and brighter red blood in the potty. Not just a little, the water is pure red. I called and they said it could just be a hemroid(sp) I had one a couple years ago. But, The poop was not hard at all. They said I can go to the E.R. or go to west and make an appointment. We think that is too much blood for just a hemroid. and I am having pain and cramping in my tummy and below my belly-button. I know, I am really sorry, this is gross and TMI, but, I need to know if I need to go to the E.R. or not. I don't want to go if I do not have too. but, I worry about the amount. I seem to be losing quite a bit of blood. Any Advice would be great. Thank you so much. Ps. Way to go Special.
  2. Sorry for signing up and then immediately posting something TMI. I've been lurking for a while but signed up to ask/vent about this issue, since my bariatrics office is closed on weekends and I can't talk to my surgeon until Monday. So I had my sleeve done on the 2nd of this month. All went swimmingly. This past Monday I had my one week post-op and again, everything went swimmingly -- except for my pulse. My pulse measured 143 and I was admitted to the ER and eventually placed inpatient as it was determined I'd developed acute metabolic acidosis. Okay, that's my bad, thought I'd been consuming enough water but I guess not. Once my bicarbonate levels were normal again I was discharged, on Thursday. My issue started after that. Since coming home, I've been struck with severe nausea and stomach cramps, and since last night have been vomiting and having diarrhea frequently. I can't drink anything, and I've been trying desperately to keep hydrated through this. Any time I drink, within five minutes it's leaving my body again. And, to be extra TMI, the diarrhea is... yellow. As if there's excess fat in the stool. Which there shouldn't be, since all I consume is water and... well, protein water. I tried OTC medicine like Kaopectate, but it didn't help at all. I was wondering if I'd picked something up while in the hospital, but if it was bacterial, Kaopectate should've helped right? All the way leading up to surgery I was told over and over about preventing constipation, so this is kinda the last thing I expected lol. Has anyone else dealt with this after having a sleeve? Did you find any way to alleviate it? I'll be talking to my doctor on Monday (and crossing my fingers I won't have to go back in the hospital for a third time this month...) but man I'm really not looking forward to another day of going back and forth between the toilet and the bed.

    Surgery tomorrow

They scared me cause they put some machine on my stomach/bladder to see how much was in it and it was gonna pop. It's very awkward having 2 nurses working on that, tmi! You feeling alright tonight?
  4. @@MyssJones Hummm, are you drinking enough fluids? What kind of yogurt are you eating? Some yogurt is really high in sugar! Of course if it's close to time for your monthly you can easily gain that in water weight . Do you need to drink some "smooth move" tea to get things going? (I now tmi) but constipation can add the pounds too. Do you track your food?

    August Post Ops

I was just wondering the same thing lately. I think it must be hormone fluctuations. There is a physical aspect to it for me (TMI: dryness).

    Valentine's Challenge

Challenge start 288 Last week 282 This week 279 -3 I think it might even be a tad lower then that but TMI I'm a bit 'backed up' lol So I made my challenge goal of 280! I would like to revise it to 275. I've lost 9 pounds so far with this challenge and I know ill probably hit a little stall since I've lost so much, but think 275 is doable!
  7. Ok..Ok I am almost 7 months post op and I have been losing a lot of hair since about 4 months. I am reading about Zinc on this thread and I haven't taken that but honestly I don't know that I can take another pill.. Here is a list of what I take everyday and I don't take it all at once b/c your body can't absorb it as well if you take it all at once and I couldn't get all this down my band if I didn't spread it out this much. (3) Iron tablets 325mg. each (2) Flintstones (2) juice Plus Orchard blend (1) Biotin (3) Flaxseed Oil (3)Alpha Lipoic Acid (2)Stool Softeners (TMI.. I know but its b/c of the Iron) (2)Juice Plus Garden blend (1)EmergenC (1,000 mg C, 32 minerals and B vitamins) And after all of that I only get 4.5 mg of Zinc from the EmergenC and the Flintstones which is 30% of the RDA. Gee... I feel like all I do is take supplements. I went to the doc and had bloodwork and the nurse called me back and said whatever your doing..keep doing it b/c your healthy as a horse. Do any of you take this much stuff?? I feel like a Vitamin FREAK!! Banded 6-27-06 Rumbaut Monterrey, Mx. 257/ 195 / 170ish
  8. Great, Woobs! Right back at you with the tmi. Same here on #2. It's been three days. Not worried yet and don't feel like I need to go. But it sure is weird. Have not used my nausea or my painkiller since coming home. I think I'm going to stockpile the painkiller for the first time my back gives out, as I can't use my miracle drug of 800mg Advil anymore for that. I'm on a nasty-assed prescription of Protonix, which my doc says is given to everyone for reflux and stomach soothing. Tastes like crap.
  9. Was sleeved on the 8th just showered today (shower is upstairs so I had to wait). Feel more human now. Had bad nausea in recovery but have been doing ok since--haven't needed my nausea drugs. Have some gurgle/gas pains and soreness overall but able to manage. My only issue is well...still haven't gone number 2 (sorry for the tmi). Going to take something to move things along tomorrow also hoping to get off the pain meds altogether that should help.
  10. So.....I died today several times.....so impacted! I bought 40 bucks worth of constipation meds and feel better stuff on my way home from work and it worked.....although, my but hurts like crazy! Sorry TMI! MOM....and glycerine suppositories. This is after I take Fiber One, chia seeds, and Citrucil almost daily! Thought that I would have to go to the ER! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

I have been doing bootcamps and I am on a clean eating diet, I walk daily and I have three kids so I'm always on the go. I'm wondering if I'm psyching myself out?? I can't eat a full meal anyway lol and as far as cheating like having a sweet something I do but I usually only have a couple bites and don't do that but maybe twice a month. I feel like it's mostly this hanging fat that's keeping me back, it's not just loose skin there is some of that too but it's really bad, I will try to attach a picture sorry it may look nasty!!! I don't have the money but I honestly think I need plastic surgery to fix this, I have tried so hard to tighten this belly flab it's from rib cage down to pubic line and it hangs over my public line. Sorry for the TMI it's also hanging over my belly button and causing bad irritation and redness. I have a hard time at the bootcamps and I really think I overdo it because I finish it all but when I get in my car I feel dizzy and half out, I'm very stubborn and I have this issue with being very self-conscious and so I have to finish the class and not slow down too much, there's times I get blurry vision but I just keep going. Yes I know it's stupid of me so I am on a break from the bootcamp but I'm starting back in a couple of weeks. I still walk every day but it's this. "Front butt" and "beer gut" that's horrid!!! No I don't drink beer but just comparing lol

    Is this dumping?!

All day I've had the worst stomach cramps, I've had horrible, at times even uncontrollable diarrhea (sorry TMI) - I haven't change anything in my diet, I'm only 10 days PO and still on full liquids. This is awful. I have hardly ate anything all day because I immediately cramp up and run to the bathroom. I feel like I need something substantial in my stomach, like bread, rice - BRAT diet stuff to stop this - Is this dumping or is something wrong?

    PMS-cramping, irritability (TMI)

The good news is I think I'm getting back to a normal cycle. My last period started on July 15, and this one started today, August 19. Over the last year my cycles have ranged from 55-90 days (except for the 2 months after a myomectomy where I had two 34 day cycles in a row). Now for the not so good news. Since I was 11, I've always had really horrible cramps leading up to my periods. I have found a combination of otc pain relievers (sometimes prescribed stuff depending on my doc) to use throughout the days leading up to my periods and the beginnings. Since I am just 2 weeks out of surgery, I decided I would not take anything and see how it went. Well the last two days have not gone well at all. I usually also have really runny bowel movements during this time. Since going on mushy foods I have only been having a bowel movement every other day, so maybe I just had a lot built up, but yesterday as I was driving to meet friends, my stomach cramped so bad I was actually screaming in the car. I drove to one of their houses and ran straight into her bathroom. As I was going, I felt so chilled and began to perspire horribly on my face and arms. When I was through I sat on her couch with a heating pad and started to feel better. After about 30 minutes the cramps had subsided. Now similar things have happened to me in the past, but I think pain relievers have helped me from feeling all of this at once. I usually try and stay in front of the pain. The temperature change and sweating usually cannot be controlled, but happen so rarely. As for the other symptoms, on Monday I began to realize I was really getting annoyed by many people (that's how I guessed I was getting back to a normal cycle). I mean really annoyed and that's just not like me, I teach middle school! I'm doing pretty well not responding or being rude, but inside I feel just constantly annoyed by most people I come in contact. Intellectually I know they are not doing anything deliberate, but I just can't seem to help my feelings. All of these things have helped remind me what an emotional eater I was. With yesterday's pain, in the past I would have "rewarded" myself with some fattening, greasy, salty food for "making it through." But because of the sleeve and all I've worked towards, that thought didn't even cross my mind until I reflected this morning. Again, in the past I would have "treated" myself to some sweet treat to help my feelings of annoyance with others, but I have no interest now. I guess I just feel grateful for having this tool. Not only is it helping me get physically healthier (and more regular:-), it is also helping me slow down and take a good hard look at the causes of my emotional eating.
  14. Hi Boutique - surgery same day as yours - I agree - today has definitely been the breakthrough day - I think anyone who has had the surgery doesn't consider that TMI - they know your happiness lol. This was a rough few days but I'm really seeing some positives today!
  15. My new best friend. Just wondering, what do you all take to prevent constipation???? I need to add a Fiber supplement but don't know what to take, Recommendations??? Jackie
  16. It could possibly be water retention. Have you had anything with a lot of sodium? Broths, canned veggies, etc.? Also do you weigh in the morning after going to the bathroom? a little tmi... but that's the best time to weigh after bowels/bladder has been emptied. If you do it at night, you could still have stuff inside you which makes the scale go up! 1.5 pounds is not something too major especially if you're exercising. If the scale keeps going up and up, then you should talk to a doctor/dietician
  17. I think I dumped! I ate a protein bar that had sugar alcohol in it. I've had other things with a little sugar alcohol before and it makes me nauseous. And I've had this particular protein bar before, but today it took me over the edge. As soon as I ate it, I felt so sick (nauseous) and then I started to just feel icky. I had to put my head down on my desk at work a few times. After about an hour, I decided to go home early and boy am I glad I did. As soon as I started to get up and get ready to leave, I realized I was going to have a bad potty experience. Mad it home thankfully, and ran to the bathroom for an explosion! Sorry TMI. I feel fine now, but wow, that was crazy! So was that truly dumping? I think it was, but not having it happen before, I don't truly know!

    February Surgery ?

Are you still in the hospital? They may have some tips. I had surgery Monday, too, and the only thing that seems to help is walking, walking, walking. Sometimes I belch after water, but it does not give any relief. At the risk of TMI, I have passed gas, which made the hospital happy, but I did not feel any better. I guess it means things are moving. I get this odd gurgly feeling when I drink the water, the RN said it was completely normal. She also said if I get up, even just stand up, it helps it pass. I have to keep reminding myself I JUST HAD MAJOR SURGERY! and I won't feel this way forever. Good luck, and keep walking! Walk walk walk, sip.

    February Surgery ?

I am two days out from surgery now, on clear liquids today and tomorrow and the struggle is real. Sorry for the TMI but...the hardest part of all of this has been the constipation from the high protein liquid phase! I'm so nervous it's going to be just as bad on the post op liquid diet. Did anyone who has already had surgery experience major constipation and how did you manage it?

    February Surgery ?

Yesterday I felt pretty good; I did not even need Tylenol and I got the 64 oz of fluid in. I walked over 6000 steps, which is almost 3 miles for me (shorter stride). At the risk of stating the obvious, dehydration is pretty bad. Once they told me to stop worrying about the protein and concentrate on the fluids I started to feel better. It was really Thursday (3rd day post op) that was bad. Also, yesterday they told me to start taking Miralax; and, again with the TMI but it is relevant, today I finally had a BM. I am pretty sure that has helped, too. Also, once I got fully hydrated my stomach stopped feeling "hungry". Not sure if it was coincidental, since they say it takes a few days before the hunger hormones dissipate. All in all I have had a pretty easy go of it, and I know that. Also I think the minimally invasive techniques have improved so much that even though losing 80% of your stomach is still a major shock to your system, your body is in a better place to heal. Hang in there! It certainly did not live up to my worst imaginings. How is pre-op eating going?
  22. @Alimap300 @bilisgfy @justJoan looks like we are all May 25 surgery date (apologies if I left anybody out - but please shout out so I know who my May 25 sleeve buddies are). Lovely to know that there are some other people out there going through exactly the same thoughts fears and realities I'm about to go through on Thursday. I am suffering badly with gas... from both ends. Apologies for the TMI - but neither have ever been an issue for me before, so not sure if it's the liquid diet - my stomach still readjusting after band removal.. but hope it gets better on the other side :-)

    Feel So Good Part 2

Thank you so much for the insight, and yes, I thought dehydration as well! But I have been getting my water in and some and monitor my pee color (sorry TMI) and it is not clear but very light yellow, but great information and so glad you are doing better as well!

    yucky ? (IBS AND MORE)

I have IBS too. I guess you can say I used to have it although, not as severe as you. I would have diarrhea (sorry-TMI), whenever it acted up. Since I've been banded, I haven't really had any problems with it. I think it's a combination of eating less, eating better and maybe because the food is slowed down by the band in the process. Now, I'm the complete opposite, sometimes, I'm constipated which I haven't EVER experienced before. Good luck!
