Hi Jojamel, thank you for adding me ! I just joined this forum and need a lot of support. So happy your surgery went well. Mine is Oct 27, 2011. I am not at all anxious re; surgery but very anxiety ridden because I read all the ppl who drop 10 lbs or more in the first week of pre op diet I am on the Optifast 5 a day with 64oz liquids. I have been on this since Tuesday and only 4 pounds down.

Still doing well. WOuld not change my decision... weight loss slow but effective. 175.2 pounds and size 10 pants... Loving my transformtion. This is a life long process. Don't give up, you deserve to be healthy!

Getting nervous for tomorrow. The Dr is going to test my port to see if I have a leak. I went from 7.5cc down to 5.5ccs and have gained back over 10 pounds

Yes I have a Dr picked out. I'm just about finish with all the testing I have a follow up on 10/1 and then I will meet up with my dr hopefully to set the date.

:unsure:After researching, second guessing and just plain scared for over a year, I finally did it. I was banded on Sept. 5, 2008. So far so good. I am sore and suffering from severe gas, but other than that discomfort, all is well. Now the hard part begins, a liquid diet and exercise.

I am surprised that I have the energy to walk because I wouldn't think that water, protein broth and shakes and sugar free popsickles could provide enough nuitrition, but I feel fine.

I am still sore, so I haven't been able to work up to :30 walks, but I take several 10 minute walks throughout the day.

Sorry it took me so long to write you back, I did not even know I had a message!!! I guess I am not as computer literate as I thought.... I am a little nervous, I have a 6 month old daughter and I am doing this so I can be a better mommy. But at the same time, I am worried about surgery. How about you??? I just started my 10 day diet today, I have been perfect (so far)... Are you nervous??? Tell me everything....

hi cometchaser - i'm sorry i didn't see this message. probably by now you've gotten some answers... my surgeon required pre-weight loss ( a % of body weight i think) to shrink my liver - so that she could move it more easily during surgery. i've heard this is very common and that most surgeons require this step.

it was extremely frustrating for me because it took me 8 months to lose 6 lbs - and i had to lose 10. i had to change to another program with a different surgeon that offerred optifast before surgery (medical fast where you drink their protein shakes and protein bars only and i did that and lost the pre-surgery weight finally). took me 3 years to get the surgery because i changed programs. but i had it on 6/10/08 and it is going very well! stick with it - it's so worth it!!!!!!

Hi I was also banded on 8-1-08 I've lost since the surgery 10 pounds... So far really easy and no real pain... How are you doing?

Hi you were banded on the 14th and you have lost 19 pounds!!!! I want your diet.

Hi there. I was reading about your PCOS/Metformin/birth control issues. I have been overweight for my entire life, and I was almost *positive* that I had PCOS, just because of various symptoms I've had over the years (number one being irregular periods). I never got diagnosed, but I have a hunch that the combination of birth control pills and low carb diet that I was on for a few months before I got pregnant probably had something to do with my husband and I conceiving after 5 or 6 months off birth control pills ... I think that, at least for me, glucose tolerance probably had something to do with the ability to ovulate successfully and have regular menses and cycles. I haven't been as good about it lately, but my surgery is scheduled for June 19, and I am ready to change my life! I'm so excited!

I hope you had a wonderful time while you were gone. I spent 10 days in Michigan visiting family. That was a long drive only 8 days after surgery. I did well though. Hope you are losing up a storm. I am going to put some pics on soon...tomorrow maybe. I am down 27 lbs. and 2 pant sizes. Take care kid-Donita

Sorry to take so long to respond. I have been on vacation until yesterday. The pain has subsided thank you. I have been at the same weight for the last 10 days, but I have gone two pant sizes. I am in a comfortable 16...yeah! I am on my way to the hospital to see a friend of mine that is having gastric bypass today. I hope you are well. It feels good when other people notice your weight loss. We should all throw out the scales until we get where we need to be....but I can't I am addicted. Take care-Donita

I havent been on this website for a long time, I got my band last June 12, so its been a few days over a year. I am one of the failures, I have gained 8 lbs this year, I have just given up and feel like I was just grasping for a last ditch effort to lose this weight. I am 295 and I am only 5'2''

I have gotten "skinny" 3 times in my life (53 years old) and each time slowly gained it back, I read all there was about the lap band but I realise now that I never really heard what people were telling me about it just being a tool and I had to follow certain rules, I was really counting on this thing to do it for me. I have what I consider to be a major and chronic sugar addiction, never have I ever been able to eat small portions when it comes to sweets, it is major binge or abstain.

I have had a very difficult time with getting the proper fill and I still dont know if it is right. I have the vg band which takes up to 10 cc's, I have had

7 or 8 fills and am now up to 7.2. I do have restriction but I definetly do not have to chew my food untill it is liquid like I read in one of your articles. I do have to eat slower but usually just in the begining of a meal, after I take 4 to 5 bites the food usually just kind of sits there and will not allow me to have any more bites for about 5 minuets then I can feel the food go through my band and I can then eat with out that happening to much again unless I eat to fast. I PB occationally but I know that is because I am eating to fast or two big of bites. I have read a few of your articles and have really liked what you have to say. I would love to hear anything anyone has to say because I have basicly given but would love to have faith in this fight again.

YES i am looking into lapband and i am really scared. looked into it last yr and never moved forward and now here i am again looking into it. i am scared for 2 reasons, well 3. i am scared to be put asleep, scared and dont want to be vomiting all the time and also scared for long term. other than that i think i am all good. i dont know for sure yet how i am going to pay for the procedure because i just started a new job and ins dont kick in til 8-01 but that doesnt meant that they are going to cover me. i dont have good credit and i barely have any credit so i am not sure that i can be financed either. any ideas?

Has it been hard to keep your weight off? I am having a hard time commiting. Surgery date 10 days away.

yes, i've been a bandster for 10 days now! so far so good. i had a WLS policy exclusion so i was 100% self-pay. over $18k and counting.. but i am sure it will be worth it!! how are you doing?
