I'm in Dallas. Where do you live? Does your doctor require a 2 week liquid diet?

FWIW, I hate the elliptical. If I make three minutes on the elliptical its a banner day! Find something you like. Turns out, I like to fence. (As in, en garde.) I love it. I fence 5 hours a week now. Plus do weights and what not in the gym. Find what you like. Then do it.

Can.sleeved replied to girldep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could you tell what the lecture would involve about the food and leaks? I was three weeks out on the 6th and I am eating pretty well everything (in small amounts) but NO beef. I have not had any problems but could I still get a leak? Russ -
UHC - how long for a response?
MsJeannetteA replied to Keia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My job put in a stipulation that i had to go through a 6 week nutrition consult before approval. However, once that was done, it took only a week to get an approval. -
Hi, my file is on the last person's desk at my doctor's office. I've been told there are files ahead of me; it could be a few weeks before it's actually submitted. Yikes! I've already met my deductible this year, I start grad school Jan 3. I feel like I'm running out of time. If you have UHC, how long before you received a response?

Question for Further Along Sleevers
Foxbins replied to dimples509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been drinking with a straw all along, my doctor doesn't prohibit them. I have also been able to take normal-sized swallows of liquid since about six weeks out. However, if I drink too fast I will have to burp to get the air out to make room for the liquid... -
I got the headaches and withdrawal in the beginning as well. It only took a few days to make it through. 2nd & 3rd day were the worse and it rapidly improved thereafter. I think you may have gotten all of the pain of early withdrawal symptoms but did not get the benefit of moving past that stage by staying with it a little longer. Maybe you can ween yourself a little more gradually off carbs. Perhaps one week of post induction diet, then you go to induction and follow through from there on out.

Hi everyone,my name is Helen Bauzon and I work as a Bariatric Dietitian and I am a magazine contributor within this forum. I have received the permission by Alex Brecher to ask your assistance in completing a survey. I am presenting in 3 weeks at a conference detailing "how to keep the bariatric patient well nourished while losing weight". I am looking to ideally obtain 100 replies from individuals who have had a sleeve gastrectomy. If you would like to contribute your feedback, you can do so by clicking on the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6G76QLV Thank you very much in advance Helen Bauzon -
Stalled for 2 weeks!
RaginCajun replied to jessicashae33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Stalls are quite normal, more prevalent for gals, but happen to guys too. Just this week - and I am 5+ months post op - I encountered a stall. For some reason, my weight stuck at a number, then all of a sudden, I was back to losing. Each person is different, but this does happen. Keep ur head held high -RC- -
I was sleeved on august 18th and i have lost 26lbs. But i have been stuck since the 30th.. i haven't lost anyrhing since then and it's driving me crazy! I get in as much protein as possible. I drink a ton of water everyday.. when i eat it is small amounts and i am pretty active. I don't know what I'm doing wrong..

I stocked up on a lot more stuff than I needed. You will not be confined to your bed, so you will be able to go out for anything you need. Get your pain meds before your surgery so they will be there for you. Liquid Tylenol is good. Remember chewable Vitamins. Also something for gas - maybe. (I didn't need it.) I was away from work for a week. Went back and got extremely tired. Full time was too much. I worked a shorter week the next one and that was good. However, you are 25 years younger. I think that if I was younger, I would have recovered sooner. Sound like you have everything under control. You'll do fine. And congratulation!:clap2:

Looks like your getting ready. Make sure you have chewable or liquid multi vitamins, tylenol, etc. There is a thread on here that I read before my surgery and it listed anything and everything you would need. Should be able to do a search for it. Many people have said they went back to work in less than a week. I was off for two. Best of luck to you.

drinking with food - cereal loophole??
Ambrosia replied to soniacan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have no problem at all eating cereal with skim milk. I can't eat it in the morning however but I usually have it for dinner 2 - 3 times a week. For some reason, the food/liquid combination with cereal doesn't bother me. I love the multigrain cheerios. Yum! -
Cue the harp music and trumpets....
DangerousD posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved! Yeah!! I just got off the phone with my insurance company and they said I was approved. Next, is trying to get a hold of my insurance coordinator to set up a date. lol I know... good luck with that one. But I think eventually she will get back to me. I hope. In the meantime, I am both nervous and very happy! A load has been lifted off my chest. And this feels more real now. Thanks all who have listened to me...er...let's say lament, instead of the B word. You have been great and I do appreciate the support. I think this part was the hardest. (I will probably revise my thinking when going through the two weeks of liquid diet before surgery.) -

I bet you will get your date soon. Good for you! I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. I'm cheering you on from the bench. -
1 week post-op...Feeling good, just sick of the liquid diet
Twism44 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 1 week post-op and I'm doing well. The only pain is soreness around my incisions. I'm getting in all my protiens & liquids and walking everyday. My only issue is that I'm SICK of the liquid diet. Counting down the days to some mushy foods! -
My surgery is in 2 1/2 weeks and I'm comfortable with the OR and hospital too since I work there. I'm excited for you! Let us know how it went! Good luck!

Hello all. I feel great. No more nausea or difficulty swallowing. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery. One week ago to day. I really can't believe how good I feel. I haven't taken any pain meds in 3-4 days. My staples are out. I have had a BM and drinking liquids like a maniac. I know my body is different. I don't have food cravings and hardly ever hungry. Having to keep up with Protein is a chore but drinking the powder whey and getting the clear isupure is a big help. I plan on using the protein shots in with my pink lemonade or peach diet packets sugar free of course. I have to more weeks of liquids. I will start my smoothies next week when I get home. Oh, still in Dallas with my sisters recovering. Im driving home to Greenville, MS 6 hours away on Saturday. Have to get out and walk for five minutes every hour. If any one has some ideas for the mushy stage give me a hola. Thanks

I am also seeing a therapist once a month to deal with post-op issues. I met her when I was referred pre-op by my surgeon's psychiatrist. Post-surgery I thought I wouldn't need her, but the 3 week post-op blues hit and I gave her a call. It has helped, I think, because I was also food addicted and still a little scared to transfer that to another unhealthy thing. -Kendra

I am not experiencing morning sickness per se, but what I am experiencing is awful stomach spasms, or cramping every two hours. If I eat a little something it goes away but only for another hour or so. This is happening through the night which is the most bothersome. I went to bed at 9 last night and was up at 11:30, 1:30, 3:30, 4:30, 5:08 and so on. I am so tired and feeling pretty sick and tired of not sleeping. More importantly, I feel concerned that this is a bad sign for my new stomach, is anyone else experiencing this?
