    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

Ok here is one more as some people o posted about plane rides and the small seats and seat belt extenders , well guess what I didn't need one either so happy for all of us as you can really see how much more length I had not a great pic, as I was slouching so my clothes are all bunched up , but you get the of this nsv . Oh and my face is getting smaller, as you can see I didn't and people were telling me they could se it in my face so it was time to take a pic and try and see it for my self, even though my eyes and mind still play that mind game of me being the big heavy , unhealthy me.

    Female NSV

I just wanted to share a female NSV I had today. When I was young and thin I always knew when I was ovulating. I would get a little cramp in my abdomen and get a couple light pink spots. I also felt bloated for a few hours. If I counted I would see I was at my ovulation date. That all stopped when I got heavy. I still had my period but never felt ovulation. I am assuming I was though. I felt it today! I used an online calculator and sure enough today is my ovulation date. Not trying to get preg but it is still kind of cool to feel your body working right again!
  3. I have lost 36 lbs in 8 weeks. There are weeks that go by that I don't seem to lose a pound. I have lost 5 lbs in the past 3 weeks. But I don't worry about it to much now that I have some objectivity. I went to Walmart to try on clothes for the heck of it. I was able to fit into size 3X (22/24) JMS stretchy capris. I haven't fit into 22/24 clothes since before my first child was born almost 15 years ago. So even though the amount on my scale hasn't gone down much in the past month, my non-scale victories (NSVs) continue to increase. I can cross my legs, my bras that I bought back in September are way to big on me, and I can fit into clothing ranging from 22/24 stretchy to 26/28 comfortable. So even if the scale isn't budging use a tape measure to see how many inches have been shaved off once a month. Or celebrate the small yet consequential NSVs that come along. Focus on the positive changes and it makes it all more worth while.

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

It's been a while since I shared my nsvs (last year). Reading what many of you are now able to accomplish is amazing. I'm so happy for all of you. My latest nsv was shopping just before the new year to buy some tops for work. I was in a large which were gimungus on me. So naturally I went straight for a medium. My mind kept telling me ya better try it on before you buy it. I'm so glad I did because low and behold the medium was too big also. Guys, I purchased a small in tops. They were on sale half of what they actually cost so I bought several of them in different colors. I of course cried like a baby in the dressing room because I don't recall wearing a small um ever!!!! Well maybe when I was little but again, I don't remember.
  5. Thanks so much for sharing your mini goals @summerseeker! I'm going to make a task for myself to list out some mini goals so that when the time comes I'm reminded that the NSVs are just as important. These will also serve as reminders of how I was feeling BEFORE surgery and the kinds of experiences I had been longing for. Love this idea! 😀

Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

kmoore you are doing awesome girl, i so feel you on NSV. my dr at my 6 month check up told me the average lost is 60lbs in 6 months i was 6lbs shy, but when i showed her my before and after she was blown away. its not always about the numbers on the scale its the NSV and how you look and feel. i also researched my body type which is pear shape and all my fat is in my lower body unlike the apple who is in the middle. so i think its called substatious fat, if i am spelling it right and it is the toughest to lose. dar have you called your nut. what are you eating are you getting in water are you taking supplements. i noticed when i stopped taking my calcium the scale stopped and i found out my d was low. once i started both of them back the scale started moving. but its stuck again. but the dr said it will come off in waves. call your nut

Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

I'm in the slow loser boat too! I'm 6 weeks out and have lost 24 lbs (14 of that was the FIRST WEEK!) So that makes the other 10 I lost about 1.6 lbs per week. I haven't been on here as much because there are so many opinions but everyone on this post said it right = we are all individuals! I am looking forward and not backwards. I WILL lose this weight whether it takes a few months or a few years. I could have never got as far as I have without my sleeve and that pleases me to think about it. I'm still in a size 16 and can still fit in most of my pre-surgery clothes, but I can't let that get me down! I just keep telling myself a "slow loss" is better than "no loss", and a "stall" is not a "stop"! NSV's for me: -people have noticed my weight loss, especially in my face -I can sleep on my side comfortably -I can wipe myself easily after going to the restroom (TMI but its true!!) -I can control my portions -I don't get sad when I walk in my closet - I know my size is going to go DOWN! Blessings to everyone on their journey's - especially the slow losers! Keep the faith!
  8. I am now in a size 11/12 juniors. I'm so stoked!! I even got into an addidas jacket I haven't worn in years. I'm big into sports and have a ton of sporty clothing I haven't been able to wear and now I can!

6 weeks out, tired, grumpy, & I miss food

I am so sorry, but your venting made me laugh..So many things that we all experienced and the buyers remorse shining through your complaints. Hold on kid it is going to get better. I promise you. Life is going to start to hand you some pretty cool experiences called NSV. And then you will say I am so glad I did this. Mean while it takes time to get used to all the changes and rules..of our new life style. But it will become very manageable for you as well as routine very soon. Take the time to really enjoy exploring new foods that would be interesting to try. And then for sure you will have conversations about food. The whole reason you had this surgery in the first place was because of your addiction to the chemical reaction in your brain and lack of self control while enjoying the chemical reaction in your brain. But if you learn to make good, nutritional choices and make them tasty. There will be lots to talk about and you will be helping your body as well. I am never hungry either and have not been hungry all along...If i did not have Reactive Hypoglycemia I probably would not eat as often as I do and then I would be smaller then I am now...... Trust me girl it will all come together and you are going to be so proud of yourself!!!!!!!

    Daily News!

OK...gotta share what happened to me today. Was trying on jeans at our local store. Had about six pair in the dressing room with me. Tried on the first pair and they were too big. Got excited. Was getting into the next pair...had my left leg in and tripped on the waist band getting my second leg into the jeans. Well, hit the door, door swung open and hit my shopping cart (quite the clang). Before I knew it, I was sitting in an open aisle in my bra and panties right in front of the deacon from the local church. What the hell was he doing lurking in the misses section by the dressing room anyway? Be warned: Take your time trying on those new jeans....even if it is a NSV moment!!!!!!!!!

    Pant sizes?

@@charley27 I started at a size 22 jeans...Well I had popped the button and my sweet husband moved it over for me. Reality a size 24. I'm now a 0 to a 3. I have no hip's or butt. Not sure how many sizes I went down. When my husband would mention my jeans are baggy in the butt...Or if clothing was sliding off my body. I knew it was time for new clothing. My big size drop was a size 16 to a 10 in a short period of time. It was a great NSV.

    Marchies in July

Baby Tony was born last night at 7:10 (on 7-11) weighing 7-13. He's adorable, of course, and doing really well. His Mom and Dad were absolute heroes through the whole thing. I'm one lucky Grandma to be invited to be there and help in any small way I could. So that's four grandsons for me and I leave CT in 10 days to help with grandson #5 in NM. Who would have thought after having 9 daughters and 1 son that I we would be in such a grandson mode. It's awesome! NSV: it was SO nice not to be so "in the way" as we moved around the bed and all tried to help Kori--I hate taking up more than my share of space in crowded places. I know I still did but it wasn't nearly as obvious as 25 lbs. ago. Hope all is well with everyone--you guys are great! Have a wonderful day and weekend ahead. Much love from the happy new Grandma.

    Weight loss for 300+ sleevers!

I'm 5'6" and was 331 pounds at my highest weight in mid-2012. I was 316 pounds on the day of my surgery (12/20/12). I have been 297 or 298 pounds (depending on the day, aaargh) since 1/18/13. I am doing everything I'm supposed to do, but I can't break this stall. I've also been trying to concentrate on NSVs instead of what the scale says, but I have been feeling very discouraged and depressed for a couple of days. I know I shouldn't compare my weight loss to others' losses, but that's hard to do sometimes. Thanks to everyone who posted their amazing progress! Your posts are inspiring and got me out of the dumps today. I'm sure I'll look back on this month and laugh once I'm six months post-op.
  19. HI all! Today is exactly 9 Weeks since I had my sleeve surgery. I have read a lot of post on here pre and post surgery about people being so dishearten over the numbers on the scale when they weigh. I told myself back before my surgery that I was NOT going to fall victim to the stinking scale! That hellacious thing has a way of ruining a persons whole day/week. Now I know some people can weigh everyday and whatever number pops up they can live with but I know me, I know my past, and I know how many times that Sucker has knocked the wind out of my sails and made me feel defeated. NOT this time honey! So what I did do with my daughter help (Partly to make sure I couldn't fudge on the numbers later) was measured every part of my body. Today is the first time we got the measuring tape out and revisited those numbers and I have to say I am astonished! These inches I have lost so far, far surpasses the feeling I got from any scale number! People are always asking me for recommendations of what they should do and my advice is to take your measurements because you can almost bet when that scale isn't moving but your following orders your probably still losing inches. I'm a open book so I will share my numbers with you... Under bust - 3inches Smallest part of waist -4 inches Natural waist -6 inches Buttock, booty, lovely lady lumps -10 inches!!!!! Yes -10 inches!! Crazy!!(Don't fret there's plenty more where that came from) Upper arm -3inches Thighs -6 inches (loving this) Calves-1 1/2 inches. Such a long way to go but I am so incredibly grateful for my sleeve and the help it has given me to finally be succeeding at something I've wanted for so long! Hey does this count as a NSV?? ( ps: I do weigh myself but only bi-weekly if I feel like it:)

    NSV (Non Scale Victory!!!)

WTG both of you! I know it is amazing how some people do not say anything or appear not to notice, I think sometimes they are afraid to say anything. I know I walked into one of my schools last week and of course one of my smallest directors looked at me and said oh my gawd! you have lost a lot of weight! That made my day. Another NSV loss is when your snug clothes are become so baggy they look horrible on you. I cleaned out my closet and now it looks bare, but oh well I can deal with that if the pounds keep coming off. I am hoping for down 50lbs by Halloween. I am down 49 now so I got one to go this week. Good Luck everyone!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory!!!)

My recent NSV has been collecting all my winter shirts in a trash bag at the bottom of my closet because they way too big for me. Last winter I was squeezing into a 3x and now 1x fits me with room to spare. I also went to try on some new pants this weekend. I picked up a size 20 for fun and a size 22 because that is 1 size smaller then I wear now. I tried on the size 20's 1st and they fit. They were snug, but I bought them anyway. I often see myself in the mirror as the same. It is hard to see the changes but the clothes do help convince me that I am smaller.
  22. Congrats Veronica!! everyone is different. I keep have to reminding myself the band is only a tool- i have to do the work- meaning stick to the diet, and no grazing ( I'm a terrible grazer!) But have found other things to do instead of eat. (Housework only if I'm desperate!). The fills will increase as we lose weight , so am more concerned about amount of miles walked, protein, calories, NSVs, and the scale. BTW, am down 1# this week to 235. ( Any loss is a win!)

    The NEW "I'm Fat"

Northernsun That's a fantastic NSV. The body dysmorphia that allowed us to get obese does a number on our heads during the slide down to normal too. What more can a person do, other than trust the image in the mirror and the words of people we love? Poeple are shocked when I tell them I only looked at my face in the mirror. Good to know there's a group of us out there.

    The NEW "I'm Fat"

You know one of the best things about this forum is on matter how you feel about somethng, there is always someone and usuallu many someones, that feel the same way and understand what we are feeling. I alsoi never looked in mirrors if I could help it. I hated trying on clothes at store because of the evil 3 way mirrors! Tended to shop a lot on line or just buy and return if it didn't fit. No matter how many time my DH and DD tell me how good I am doing and how much better I look, I still see in the mirror, fat. There seems to be a short in my brain somewhere that can see the changes and process the sizes I have grown out of but still see me as fat. I am well aware that I have a long way to go yet but I have a hard time seeing where I have been and congratulating myself. I have noticed that I am slowly reaching acceptance for the way I look now and smiling with the NSV that happen along the way. My latest smile- standing in the grocery line and I had to move my cart to the end of the line and I was able to pull it right past me without having to step into the next door cashiers space to do it! Did make me smile!

KarenK, that is awesome!! NSV's are sometimes better than when the scales says you lost, but you do see any outward change!! I recently fit into an XXL shirt I bought at Costco...in fact, it was loose and comfortable. That's the first time I've been able to buy a clothing item not from a B&T store!! Keep it up!!:cheers2:
