    Frustrated

i feel your pain. i was banded on may 20th of this year and am stuck between 17-20 pounds. AARRRGGGHH!!! my only conselation is that i've gone from wearing 20's to 16's moslty. so since my goal is a size not a weight that gives me some comfort. i dont understand how my clothing size is changed but the scale isnt. i've had 3 fills and i feel i have good restriction taking about 4-6 hours to be hungry, eating smaller portions and exercising twice a week with a trainer and twice on my own. have you taken your measurements or notice other NSV's?

    NSV- Tucked Shirt!!

GET ONE... with SEXY written on it!! I've recently bought some belts, not quite in the next size down and they make my jeans and trousers look better... do it ladyeeee x

Almost too embarrassing to admit, but...

    Awesome NSV!! Congrats.
  4. Today, I was getting dressed for a day around town and as I pulled my size Medium tissue T by Mossimo for Target over my size 10, fit 4 Merona for Target jeans, I didn't like the way my shirt looked outside my jeans so I finally thought, how will it look tucked? I tucked it in and it looked -insert drumroll here- GREAT!!! It's the first time I've worn a tucked in shirt with pants without a jacket to hide the bulges since the mid 90s! Yahoo!!!!! And I still have 42 lbs to goal. What next - a belt? And I wore it all day with sandals and at the end of the day my feet were not screaming for mercy! With nearly 50 lbs. less of me than last summer, I can actually wear the cute sandals I have in my closet instead of my uber-support shoes. Do you think my family will notice if I just wear this outfit night and day for the next week or so while I cackle madly with glee while wagging my tushie around and swinging my sandal-clad feet? I love you sleeve- I don't care if I have to eat more Protein than I want, swallow handfuls of supplements twice a day, and force down a Protein Drink every night- you are worth every bit of it! Lynda

    That's a great NSV!

    What doe NSV stand for??

NSV = Non Scale Victory. When something positive happens that isn't related to the number on your scale. Clothes that suddenly fit great, comfortably wearing those pants you could never quite fasten, riding an amusement park ride and having the barrier bar close without crushing your stomach, easily fastening an airplane seatbelt, a compliment from a total stranger - it can be anything. And yes, yours is definitely an NSV! Congratulations! Dave
  7. Not sure what the the letter mean for NSV but I know it means something good. I had a follow up appointment with my Cardiologist the other day and he was so happy with my progress that he told me to follow up with him in 1 year!!! (I was going every 6 months for episodes of tachycardia with hrt rates in the 200's) Also according to his scale a month before the surgery my weight was 276. So technically I have lost a total of 40lbs since April !!! Yay me!!
  8. Just got back from taking 9...count 'em 9 black trash bags of clothes that will never fit me again to the Salvation Army!!! It felt SOOOOOOOO good!! I am sitting in a bit of a stall so this NSV really made me happy! Living the dream!, Laura

    My first NSVs

I love it that you shared those NSVs with everyone. It's always my fear that I will break a lawn chair. Hopefully my hubby and I will share a loveseat soon. Keep after it--you are doing great!
  12. Hello, I was sleeved on 8/8 and I have had two NSV yesterday that I wanted to share: 1. My sister was away during my surgery and when she came to see me she said I look like one of my high school pictures. I am starting to look younger…Yea!!!! 2. Yesterday, I went for a walk with my husband and after the walk we sat in the love chair on the front porch. A few weeks ago, we would not have been able to fit. I don’t have a tracker…so I will share my stats: I started out at 245, I was 225 the day of surgery and I am 209 now. Thanks for reading, Toyia
  13. It has been a very interesting day. My car stopped dead in the middle of an intersection in a rain storm on the way to work. Not one person stopped to check on me. Got the car towed to my office, spent a couple of hours getting another tow to the garage and renting a car. The new compliance officer at work gives a whole new meaning to nit picking paranoid micromanager and he isn't even my boss. I had to leave at 3 to get to the first visit with my new doctor, which is normally plenty of time, except I got caught in a slow moving river of minivans; it took me ahalf hour to go less than a mile. Didn't realize school started yesterday. I was late for my appointment; I hate being late. According to my late father, if you were on time you were fifteen minutes late and I took it to heart. Then the doctor finally came in and talked about everything under the sun and pressured me to start insulin which isn't going to happen and then at the last minute, in a kind of afterthought as she was typing up the visit notes, she says "I JUST SENT YOUR REFERRAL FOR THE BARIATRIC PROGRAM TO THE COORDINATOR." :bananapowerslide: WooHoo, I am on my way. I had been thinking all day (because it was so stressful) that I would get dinner at the Chick Fil A just down the block from the Dr. office, but I decided against it...a kind of NSV from me to me. This post is way too long, but I had to tell someone and for the moment LBT is my support system. Thanks for listening. Robbie

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

How private is this facebook group? There are certain people I really do NOT want to know about this surgery. I really need some support though. Surgery 03/31/2011 since surgery lost 25 pds and really frustrated. Besides what the heck does NSV stand for???
  15. Hello! To answer your questions, I am eating 1,200 calories a day. My form of exercise is a turbo kick boxing class at 24 hour fitness. Maybe I do need to spice up my work outs. I figured since the instructors are all different, each day the workouts are different and it's a fact. It really is. My clothing size has actually changed! I posted a NSV a week ago about going from a size 24 to an 18. So I do feel it in inches. I just hate how the scale doesn't go hand in hand with it. And thank you for all of your encouragement and kind words. I really needed this support. <3

    weight loss after surgery

I would never be considered a quick loser, but seeing as this is a LIFE LONG change, I'm totally ok with that. Try not to compare yourself to others, and DEFINITELY don't sell yourself short!! You CAN ALWAYS do so much more than you ever dreamed possible!!! I'm living proof of that. Celebrate your losses and be proud of your journey. Take photos of yourself, before an durings, keep measurements, keep logs of all your NSV's... these will brighten your day when the scale is being a poopy butt. Good luck!!!
  21. I now weigh less than my husband, and, for the first time ever, I wore his T-shirt to sleep in!!!! Yay!!! I am so excited! I not only wore it, but is was loose :) :)
  22. So before my surgery, I bought a pair of size 12 leather pants at a yard sale. I was still wearing size 18-20 but I loved the pants and hoped after surgery I could get them on. Last weekend I was going thru my older larger clothes (to give away!!!) and trying on smaller stuff and discovered that I wear a size 12! I ran to my closet and got out those soft beautiful size 12 leather pants...I flung off my newly fitting size 12 jeans and slipped easily and comfortably into the leather pants! I was so thrilled!!!! YIPPEE!! Living the dream!, Laura

Can a whole weekend be a NSV?

That is Awesome!!! Wow, I can't imagine how you must feel. You have worked very hard and deserve to bask in you weekend NSV and have many more! I bet you can fit a lot more pairs of pants in a load of laundry now
  25. I am beyond thankful for the success that I've experienced thus far and praise God for this opportunity to have a longer healthier life. The dilemma I have recently discovered is I've begun to question myself about the amount of enjoyment I get in talking about my WLS journey. I have always enjoyed sharing my story with others for a number of reasons. The most predominate reason though is that I have found so much encouragement form others as I was looking into and beginning my journey and I hope to be able to provide that encouragement to others. I really love sharing the adventure with others. With weight as the topic I feel I have been to the near extremes, I was never on a public service special but I had gotten to the point where some of the basic life functions where cumbersome to say the least. Maybe the depth of sadness I felt at those times in my life are now being counterbalanced by the happiness I now feel. I've had better than average success with this WLS surgery and I feel like I'm in the best possible position moving forward with the rest of my life. I'm still seeing scale and NSV regularly and feel badly that others have struggled where I have not. So my question is this justified, is it ok to still be so happy and excited. Am I providing any value by continuing to tell my story or am I an attention ***** destined to turn into a daffodil?
