Thank you! I bought some Greek yogurt today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
my doc has me on full liquids first 3 weeks. I'm so sick of it too. I'm allowed yogurt and Soups etc. today was my first day back at work and I ordered a Soup from a local chinese restaurant (chicken and noodle soup) told them to hold the noodles, hold the chicken lol. just had the broth...it was heaven! so good. Mainly because it was different than what I've been eating at home (home made soups i'm now sick of). i can't wait to have puree's and soft foods next week.

Protein Supplements after Sleeve Surgery
cbonet replied to Kaycee1971's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try using an enhanced protein milk with your shake. I've been using organic almond milk with 10 grams of protein in each cup. It gives you the rctea protein and changes the taste of the protein a little. You could also add some good greek yogurt to your shake . -

Shirleyd90 Is the diarrhea something new? After my RNY ( not sure which surgery you had but...) I became Lactose Intolerant. Which caused me to have bad diarrhea. I was on Premier Protein drinks for 2 weeks Preop and 4 weeks Postop!! I had diarrhea so bad, and my Surgeon finally told me to try some other protein because it was more than likely the Premier drinks!! Funny thing is I can't drink milk but I can do yogurt, cheese, sour cream and Half and Half. I have to use Almond milk or I get the back door trots every time. Just a suggestion. -

You just out of surgery? That's great... I started about where you were and was -24 at 2 weeks... great job!!Thanks! Actually I had surgery on May 27th! I started out at 540 a year ago! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Wow!! I would love to have that kind of loss 5 months later -- can you give me an idea what you're doing? (cals, carbs, Protein, typical foods, etc.) Well I've actually been having a lot of complications unfortunately. I had a picc line in to infuse TPN every night to give me enough fluids and nutrients. Last Monday I was admitted to the hospital with a 103.9 fever amd my second blood infection. They removed the picc line and said we will stop the TPN now. I'm getting my gallbladder removed tomorrow (I have stones). I have been eating around 600-750 calories a day. I drink 2-3 premier Protein shakes a day to get my protein in. I try to eat 4-6 small meals a day. Some examples of those meals I eat are a yogurt, or 1/2-1 egg and 1-1 1/2 piece of bacon, 2 oz meat (like half a burger, some chicken breast, pork tenderloin, steak) and 1-2 oz veggie or side (spaghetti squash, green Beans, Brussel sprouts, squash, broccoli, cauliflower, potato, or salad). I cook the meat in different flavors like Mexican, Asian, Italian, anything I'm interested in that night! I get a lot of recipes from the skinny taste or Emily bites website. I also use weight watcher cookbooks. A lot of them have pretty low calorie recipes that are actually really delicious! I don't really count my carbs but I do have some throughly the day. I also snack on some popcorn from Trader Joe's (white cheddar baconesque, white cheddar, sour cream and onion) I can only eat half a cup and that's only between 35-40 calories! 2 weeks post-op,the highs and lows, so far.

I am two weeks post op today! I feel like October 3rd was a second birthday for me. On that day a new way of life was launched! Physically, I have been really fortunate I think, regarding healing. Surgery was uncomplicated, and recovery has gone fine. Not much pain. The only pain I have had regularly is in my deepest incision site. But that is finally almost gone! I didn't have much gas, and not a lot of nausea post-op. I am still on full liquids and trying to be creative so I don't go crazy. I have my protien shakes (which are begining to make me nauseaus), non fat sugar free yogurt, and strained soups- tomato basil is fantastic! I really needed something non-sweet tasting with protien so I took a carton of non-fat cottage cheese and I put it in the blender till it was thinned out to the consistancy of yogurt. Sounds disgusting right? It works for me, I eat 1/4 cup or less at a time and it helps the cravings for savory. I have had a couple days of extreme weakness. As in having to lay down for hours. I realized that it was not drinking enough of the Protein. Emotionally, it's been harder. I realize now I was a food addict. So, so many aspects of my life revolved around food (bad ones), pre-surgery. Now post surgery, I find that I have hours of time that I have to fill with new, healthy activites and hobbies. The biggest eye-opener for me 2 weeks out is how much time and mental attention that I used to give bad food. It was my life! So....reinventing now. So, this is my experience two weeks out! I see the surgeon and NUT Wednesday. I am hopeful to graduate to pureed or soft foods! Stats: HW: 239 9/23/16 SW: 219 10/3/16 CW: 211 10/17/16 -

I eat a Greek yogurt daily! I have it as desert, also I try to look for the least carbs of the selection at the store, but basically any carbs I have are from this and I have been loosing just fine, and I had plenty of sf Popsicles that first month! They were the only sweet treat allowed and it helped with the head hunger thing. The brand I bought was the "Popsicle" brand, my stores have the original and tropical kind. -
I have a question
BobScott replied to marissahealthiernewme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When I got home from the hospital, and the pain was still a big part of my day, I looked at my situation and realized that my life needed to be different. I was initially embarrassed that I couldn't do it on my own and needed the surgery, and this embarrassment was motivation to not squander this opportunity to hit the "Reset Button" on my habits. I never have looked to be able to re-introduce bad foods, but instead I have looked for replacement foods, and activities. This is the new Football Sunday spread. Lol. Once I started losing the weight, I fell in love with the new "superpower" of a small stomach! I never wanted to have the craving monster come back in my life, so I have convinced myself that my addiction to crap needed to be treated as the disease it is. So I have sworn off of all trigger foods, and basically anything non-healthy. No breads, candy, Pasta, etc. I have never heard of an alcoholic program that has a goal of reintroducing social drinking.. lol. So why does our program have the final goal of being able to eat some of the foods that put us in trouble in the first place? Once you can find your "feel good" foods, things get much easier. For me it was home made Soups, yogurts, Fish, pickles, and almonds. Once you decide to eat to live and not live to eat, it just gets easier. One day at a time, the future is so bright! Surgery was Feb23rd this year... I was 381 and now 214 as of this morning. Down 167lbs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I should be clear that I am 2 weeks out tomorrow. I have not eaten anything that I wasn't sure about. I am getting my Protein from cottage cheese and Protein shakes and powder. The manual I was given said to buy no fat, no sugar yogurt (that's it) it didn't say to buy one high in my protein. It also said to have no sugar Popsicles to help getting fluids in. I have not had Popsicles or yogurt yet because I haven't been sure about the brand. I feel like some comments on here were judging me and my ability to do this program. I simply had a question about whether the yogurt was what was recommended in my manual (low fat, sweetened by Splenda). Obviously I am trying to confirm something before I put it in my body but I am following the manual and life diet perfectly. I don't feel it was a stupid question to ask others opinions before I ate it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Before I give you my take (opinion) on this yogurt, I'd like to suggest that you make an appointment with your bariatric RD to discuss how to make good food choices, how rigid to be when you make them and how to read nutrition labels and ingredients lists. I'm going on the belief that your surgery career is young and feeling a little overwhelmed and cautious. You wouldn't be alone in that. Better to get some peace of mind and confidence than to feel unhappy. Whatever I write below is opinion, but opinion that has served me well. Beware of opinions from many quarters. Loads of input from many people may might make your woozy. Another reason to run things by your RD -- not only the facts, but, again, guidance on making choices on your own. Also keep in mind that I'm not advocating foods that you haven't been cleared for yet. That is, if you're to be on liquids, don't grab a sandwich just because it will make you mouth happy. It probably would do that, but all the rest of you will mutiny. I'm going to disagree with the knowledgeable Inner Surfer Girl on this one. The yogurt you're asking about, approx 4 oz, is only 40 calories. You'll be eating one container, not dozens. If it makes your mouth and your mind happy and will help you stick to your overall plan, I say "Go for it." Check the ingredients list. If sugar, corn syrup and such things aren't listed, sugar isn't a concern. If the popsicles contain real fruit, such as the yogurt, they contain the natural sugar of the fruit rather than the added sugar you want to avoid. Empty, to be sure, but only 15 calories. Again, you're eating one, maybe two, not a lifetime supply at a sitting. If the mouth is happy and a yen is satisfied, I still say "Go for it." When I plan my meals and Snacks, I consider not only my daily calorie limit and goals for protein, et al., but I also take into account that I don't want to feel under a sentence of punishment and deprivation. Losing weight should be joyful on all fronts. -

Have considered Greek Yogurt. It is higher in protein so that makes it a better option. Be careful that it also doesn't have too much added sugar. -

That yogurt is lousy? I tried to get one without sugar, fat and low calorie. It's sweetened with Splenda. I won't eat it if it's bad for me , I just don't know which brand to buy. I would love some recommendations. I live in Canada. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My cheat..
WLSResources/ClothingExch replied to FunkyMunkyBrat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@grasseschic, whenever you're cleared for all the ingredients, this butternut casserole is wonderful according to my tastebuds and those of anyone I've ever made it for. Of course ignore Katzen's number of servings; for WLS folk, it yields more than 4 or 5 servings; you'll see for yourself. I don't get why people sweeten already-sweet things like winter squash and sweet potatoes. The contrast of the savory ingredients here makes it. I have the original cookbook (from the 1970's I think??) Any way I got it in the 80's. The recipe may have given a choice between yogurt and buttermilk, but I can't say how much of the latter. If you make this, read first, as Katzen never listed ingredients in order of use. http://www.molliekatzen.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipe=arabian_casserole P.S. It's not a high-Protein dish, so a smaller serving may work best as a side dish. -
What was your "last" meal?
catalina_uk replied to lgivaudan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bacon sandwich and dulce de lecce cake+custard...but it was sometime well before I started my pre op diet. I m 5 months out and I don't think I'll ever try that cake again.Anything sugary makes me feel funny, not sick, light headed. And we are talking here about a fruit yogurt not an icecream or chocolate bar. Haven't tasted that in 6 months. -
I had a terrible time with the pureed stage for the same reasons you list. I would gag and end up vomiting and it was a total aversion. I pretty much stuck to things that would not gag me such as greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken broth with added Protein power. My bariatric team had me switch to premier Protein shakes and milk them down with fair life so they were thinner. Premier does not have that disgusting protein taste or smell and they are ready made. In the beginning weeks i would mix 1/3 of the 11 oz shake with 2/3 fairlife protein milk. My tummy did not and still does not tolerate regular milk for some reason. I can eat other dairy but not milk so i buy lactose free milk which fairlife is. You really need to get some protein in your body, besides getting sick you can lose your hair. Everyday it should get a little better but you really need to try some different protein options. Best of luck to you.

My cheat..
FunkyMunkyBrat replied to FunkyMunkyBrat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm not giving you hell, I'm simply pointing out a different way of thinking. And curious. Why did you NEED something off your plan? Just as there is a huge difference between cheat and choice, there is a big difference between NEED and WANT. Spaghetti squash is a great choic nutrtionally but not neccessarily soon post op. The stringy texture was a no no on my plan for three to four months. Same with string cheese, celery, asparagus... LMAO.. I know you're not.. I meant I was going to tag you to tease.. Just playful shit.. My choices for food is.. Veggie Soup which sucks and I'm going to buy stuff to make my own.. Greek yogurt which I love.. But veggies wise is.. Baby carrots, cukes, tomato, broccoli (which I'm not a big fan of), sf pudding, sf Jello,.. And I'm kinda guessing their keeping it like that for people that get overwhelmed and end up making bad decisions.. But I am going to call in the am n talk to my nut about it all.. This is just week 1 of a 2wk diet they want me to do for 4 wks n don't even have a surgery date yet.. I'm not post op .. I'm pre and no date even yet but everything is complete and they just ha to submit to my insurance.. My next appt is 20th.. *fingers crossed* Munky
