    Pouch reset

Welcome to the site Many of us have experienced a weight gain. Its great that you have reached out and working on getting it back down. Pouch reset is going back to liquids and progressing back out to real food stage. (It does not shrink your pouch) It may help you feel your restriction a bit. Its one way to help get back to healthy behaviors. Another option is to start at real food stage if you feel reset is too restrictive. Some choose to change diet plans Keto, paleo, vegetarian,IF, whole 30 etc. Only my opinion. Whatever diet you choose, The key is logging your food in an app and staying with in your weight loss calories/macros. Basics: Food plan, exercise, hydrate You know what to do but it may be difficult to get your head back in the game. A few threads on the site that may help. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425354-the-importance-of-doing-the-head-work/?tab=comments#comment-4776743 https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/428113-🍁-oct-2019-challenge-🍁/?tab=comments#comment-4815439

    OOTD

So I have posted pictures with my daughter. She is 10. I know this isn’t clothing related, but you are the group I want to share this with. This morning she is making her lunch, being a typical 10 year old only child, she wants to be just like mommy. Instead of her usual sandwich that I make her, she is making herself meat and cheese roll ups like I have. She makes sure her water bottle is full before we leave. Last night she wanted my size plate. I always lay out our plates for dinner. It looks like a baby plate, mama plate(which is for my daughter) and daddy large plate. But I always take the baby plate. I love that she recognizes the healthy stuff I’ve made a habit. I hope she never has to go through the weight issues we have all had, by starting out on the right foot.

Emz- Congratulations! I bet you can hit that 19 pound goal. But if you don’t think of all the success you’ve already achieved. Glad to hear from you!

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Great to hear how everyone's going! Even although I haven't been posting much lately, it's been good having a big ole catch-up... I got really behind on our wee thread. How are our other infrequent February posters? You all still out there? September was a slow loss month for me, but I finally today lost a total of 60kgs! Only 9kgs (19 pounds) to go and I will have lost HALF my body weight. How crazy is that?! Also, I turn 30 next week. If you'd told me I'd be seeing my 30th in 60kgs lighter this time last year I wouldn't have believed it. Heck, if you'd said I'd be 20kgs lighter I would have been stoked! So crazy just how much life can change in a few short months. Hubster and I are thinking of climbing Rangitoto here in Auckland for my birthday. That, and going to see the Joker movie (mainly because I know my husband is desperate to see it. Lol.) Hoping I can lose my 19 pounds by my 9-month check-in in November... probably a bit of a tall ask, but hey, I'm always up for a challenge 🙂 Sending you all positive thoughts! ❤️
  9. I’m 10 months out and have lost 90 lbs. plan on losing 20 more. While on liquids and soft foods I didn’t think my restriction was very good but once I started eating regular food it really kicked in. I still get hungry, some days more than others, but I get full very quickly. You just have to be careful because there are ways to “eat around” the restriction and you can still over eat if you are eating the wrong foods. I’ve not had any regrets thus far! Weight loss

Thank you, I’m 10 days now & have 2 days with no loss 😏 I’m starting to get hungry of an evening now though which is quite scary 😬 I just made it over the BMI too 😊
  11. Not sure if this is allowed, but I have a box of Beef Bone Broth never open all 4 are still in the box, 3 Chicken bone broth. I used one, but they are all individually sealed its the orange package. 3 other broths which is Cream of Tomato, Chicken soup, and chicken with pasta (all broths). I have two protein powders. One is Coffee and the other is Double chocolate fudge. Also a Bariatric Pal plastic mug you heat the broths in. So total of 10 broths, 2 shakes, 1 mug. I bought all of this off Bariatric Pal and they are left over from my 2wk liquid diet. I'm not gonna use them so they are just sitting here. If you live close and willing to meet near me somewhere then they are yours for free! I know how costly it is getting ready for the 2wk liquid faze and the first month after surgery! So let me know. I won't hold for anyone (sorry) unless we are meeting of course. So its whomever can meet first. Thanks! (delete if not allowed) Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Speaking of fashion, I spent a big part of the day finally going through all my stuff from years past. I’ve sorted and I’m kind of sad because I know the great majority will end up at goodwill. Not saying that’s a bad thing, but I really wish there was a way I could give it all (and I honestly wouldn’t ask for money for it) to someone just having surgery and a size or two bigger than my old clothes so they’d have some stuff to wear while they transition. I did keep one pair of size 22 pants and xxl top that I wore last year during the holidays. The pants I’m keeping bc I can remember not being able to zip them up easily last July when I hit my 10-year HW of 259. I had zero shorts, or capris, or dresses or anything. It was a billion degrees outside and I had crammed myself in these cargo-style ankle pants and tried to pretend I wasn’t miserable. I have a hard time remembering what I ate for dinner last night, but I clearly remember last July 4th when the realization that I’d gotten so fat that I had about 10 things to wear almost crushed me. I couldn’t wait for the holiday to just be over so I could start this journey. That was after almost 6 months dithering and researching WLS and deciding yet again to diet and exercise on my own. Cause you know.... that method was so successful for all of us. The top I’m keeping there’s a photo of me in it from Christmas Eve 2018. Probably one of 3 photos I allowed to be taken of me in the last couple of years. Anyway, I spent a lot of time going through all of that stuff which kind of felt like a combo between a root canal and counseling session with my therapist.

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery

Yes. They asked us to try to lose 5-10% during the process then when I had my consult 1 mo prior he asked me to refrain from as many carbs as possible and lose whatever I could. He explained that it really helps him during surgery because your liver will shrink some and every little bit of extra wiggle room he has helps the end results to come out better, especially since I have fatty liver Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Where's everyone from :)

40 in NJ - getting the sleeve 10/28. Lost quite a bit on my own. Excited to see what the future holds. These last few weeks seem to be the longest (and the shortest, when I get scared). Good Luck, keep everyone posted!

    This is weird

This is strange, I've been tracking, in Sept I was stalled for 19 days. But i lost 17lbs during the 11 days I wasn't. The key here I've found is to keep on track as hard as it may seem. [emoji3] Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

Final 4 weeks until surgery day!!!

Sounds like you have really prepared yourself well for your journey! You are clearly going to do incredibly well! I'm having surgery 10/24, so I'll see you on the loser's bench!
  21. I posted that "2007 " report because my cousin whom I had a group chat n chew dinner last night with some people who have had this surgery gathered and by the way I had to pick her up cause she did not : 'remember " where I lived as many times she has been to my house this is 2019 and she had the sleeve 18 months ago so this is real , she didn't know who my aunt(her mother) the "kids" in the house( her nieces and nephews) the conductor on the train she takes to work she didn't even remember she wanted to break up with her boyfriend it was her best friend who told her when he broke up with her "girl you was gonna break up with him anyway but just did not know how....So no don't down play this cause the article is "old" she thew up a lot when she got sleeved and went back to the ER .its only to say if you have or do throw up a lot at the beginning look into it to make sure your vitamin b12 as well as others are not immediately rendered powerless and the brain is not defiecient which is was causes the memory loss...… My aunt and brothers took her to the hospital and this is what "They " said she didn't even remember she had surgery and one morning after looking in the mirror was terrified and asked her mother was she sick and dying because she lost so much weight . she had to be reminded so its real ... but hey im having my surgery November the 11th and this is in no way meant to be a scare tactic or deterent its just facts I was trying to pass on to my family here God Bless
  22. Feeling great. Starting the final count down 4 weeks; 28 days ill be having surgery 10/28. Been working hard on my own diet the past 5 weeks cut out all sugar and carbs and junk food. Started shakes and high protein low carb lifestyle. Drinking plenty of fluids, living off tuna and veggies mostly. Just started using my exercise bike to help. Surgeon was very happy that I lost 40lbs in the first 4 weeks currently 279 highest 322 aiming for 185-200lbs. I'm feeling very positive about the future. It is a challenge to keep focused and to be strict on myself but I remind myself everyday to keep my eye on the prize!!! I'm forever grateful for this group

    Weight loss stats!

I lost a lot pretty fast. That is not the way it is with everyone, and in some regards, I wish the loss had been slower. It is a huge mental adjustment to losing so much so fast. I went from pant size 24 to 10. Bra 42DD to 36B. People don't recognize me and I hardly recognize myself. Body dysmorphia is real - I feel like I am in someone else's body. It's a bit surreal. Sometimes I feel a bit lost - like where did I go? I think I look old and wrinkled - shriveled and saggy. People tell me I look younger, but I don't see it. Without clothes, I think I look 90 years old. Anyway, I just try to focus on all the things I can do now, even if I do look funny! I must say, it is fun to shop for cute clothes. I hated it before - so shaming. But gosh darn it! I can't find jeans that fit. My thighs are hollow on the inside now and even size 10 have way too much fabric in the thigh area so they look more like English riding pants on me. Bottom line - you will lose at the rate that your body wants. Going slower is not bad - it might even be better for all the mental and physical changes that happen. I am also getting pretty tired of people asking about my weight loss. Some are concerned that I might be sick and others are just nosy. That is getting old.

    October sleevers?????

Hi everyone after 9 long months I have my surgery date on 10/17. Although I am super excited, seeing a recent post on an acquaintance’s social media has be a bit nervous. He talks about the good, bad and ugly from his 5 year post gastric surgery journey. I must say this is making me feel conflicted now about the surgery. Any positive thoughts or vibes?
  25. I had the heparin injections in the hospital, but my doc does not require follow up anticoagulation unless there is an underlying problem. A week or so after surgery a couple of the superficial varicose veins in my legs got swollen and very painful. I didn't think it was a big deal and went in for my regular 2 week post op appointment. Doc sent me in right away for a doppler of my legs and turned out I had 3 deep veins that were also affected. The superficial ones were just the tip of the ice berg. So I had to go on Xarelto for several months and see a hematologist. Any future surgeries will require me to be on anticoagulation since this is now part of my history, I did all the right things - walked the halls right after surgery and was actually up to 10,000 steps a day by the end of the first week. I did my leg exercises and kept moving, but it just happens sometimes. Wish I had been given the Lovenox injections for 10 days! As others have said, the needle is very small and short. The injection only goes under the skin into the fatty tissue. They really do not hurt. It's great you have a nurse friend who can maybe guide you through the first couple. After that you will be fine.
