Odd, I had the same NSV. I don't know why I've done it but I've done just that since I was a kid, just sit there and wrap my fingers around my wrist and see how far I could touch. I was able to just rub the tips of my thumb and middle finger together a few months ago, now I can just about reach the base of my thumbnail. Funny, I don't know anyone else that does this too.

So I haven't had surgery yet (Monday!) but the other day I realized that I could wrap my fingers around both of my wrists... I haven't been able to do that for years!! I should also mention that I have pretty small hands lol. A lot of people talk about not having "cankels" anymore, well I am just excited that my wrists are getting small again! So yeah, odd I know, but really made me smile and I thought I would share

Haven't been able to sleep much... Heading to the hospital in about an hour.... Gonna join the bandsters today!!! I can't wait to start really seeing & some NSVs & being a healthier person!!!! -
And I’m down to 256lbs… I’ve lost a total of 10 pounds since my last doctor’s appointment back in August and he was very happy with my progress thus far. I went in today (9/12/11) and weighed in, chatted with him about what exactly I was doing to progress my weight loss. I told him I cut out carbs and still am cutting out carbs as best I can. Most meals only contain meat (protein) and vegetables. Everything that is processed/packaged I look at the contents and if there’s carbs I put it down. I am so proud of me, I should make this an NSV! People, or I should say non-dieters, don’t realize how hard it is to nix carbs all together. Especially since it’s been a part of your daily food intake for years! But I’m doing it. I can say I don’t eat something carby here and there, but not nearly enough to cause me any issues. I was off work for fiver days recently and I did so well not eating carbs. I did enjoy a bowl of cereal over the weekend, but that was it! No bread, no pasta, no rice, no sweets! I’m committed to sticking to this no carb diet because if I drop lbs like I’ve done these past two weeks CONTINUOUSLY then I could possibly make my mini goal come November 6th. I’m 36lbs away and I have 58 days to do so, which is roughly 8 weeks plus a few extra days… but that’s like 4.5lbs a week. I know I didn’t get RNY, and that’s asking a lot to lose that much weekly, but this is what I’m aiming for; 220lbs by November 6th! I Can Do It! J Other than dieting, I’ve been taking two hour Zumba classes (when offered), I’ve been walking, doing jogging/power walking intervals for 30 minutes at a time while on my breaks at work; I’ve also been doing the sedentary bike for 30 minutes at a time while at home… I plan to do a little more toning… my arms are slimming down, but I don’t want the flab… I hate to say this but I definitely see a TT, Brachioplasty, and Breast Lift in my future (hopefully covered by insurance)! It’s not all bad, I mean I love lifting and pulling my rolls aside and seeing my TRUE body frame and shape that’s being hidden underneath. It’s like shaking a wrapped gift before opening it. I’ve been trying to guess what’s inside for the longest! J Overall I’m SOOOOO HAPPY with my progress. Today I re-read my journal entries that I started writing when I started my PreOp diet, and I’m happy that I’ve progressed so much since then… I’m 256! In one of my entries I was saying how happy I was to be 278 because that meant I weighed less than my Dad… but now I’ve progressed so much it just blows my mind! I’m almost -50lbs down… just 1 more pound to go! I’m sure I’ll drop that in a day or two! WooHoo!!! I’ve gone from 305lbs (my highest) to 256lbs!... I’m so proud…

So, I belong to a Meetup group for single people. I just changed my Meetup avatar to the same one I have for this site. I went to a pool party on Saturday night & this guy there starts asking when I changed the picture. He then spend the whole night referring to me as the "Hot Librarian". LOL. I think he must have called me that 20 times. He even made someone pull the picture up on their phone so he could show everyone. It was honestly the first time anyone has ever referred to me as 'Hot' in my entire life. Super flattering, even if he is 15 years older. It made my entire weekend. Krista

aren't those NSV's great! I love every one of them. . even the ones from our kids. . . I went to visit my 21 year old and when she opened her apartment door, the first thing out of her mouth wasn't "Hi MOM" . . . it was "God mom, you look like a starved orphan" . . .that made my day. . . .we laughed about that all day! NSV's are great!

I came in at lunch from a short walk around campus at work. I have to pass through another department to get to my office. As I turned the corner to go through the double doors toward my office, an aquantance called my name. I didnt hear her... she called again and I turned. She screamed "How much weight have you lost!!! you look amazing!" I was startled. I made the same old knee jerk reaction by telling her it was probably because my hair was pulled back that it looked like I had lost a lot of weight. Then I realized, Hey! I have lost 27 pounds so far! I told her it was 27 pounds and she was so excited for me! Then I was excited for me! I dont know why I try to play it off still, like I didnt really accomplish it. I need to get my head out of my butt and realize that I am doing this! This is really happening! Woohooo for people noticing your weight loss! I will take it!

Funny NSV!
readytolosemomof5 replied to BaileyRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I still need the big cuff, but my NSV came when I was playing with my daughter the other day- My wedding band flew off my finger! It hit my other daughter in the face . Funny thing is, before my surgery 5 weeks ago, I couldn't wear it because it was too small- now it is too big! Waiting to have it resized -
I was worried about you too! I am glad that everything went well and they were able to stitch it up for you. Sure beats having another surgery!!! Yeah! What a relief! Congrats on the NSV also! I will be glad to see a smaller cuff and lower bp as well. I am borderline high bp (no meds). I can not wait to go back to my family doctor for my physical next summer as a whole new person!

My husband and I go to dance classes/social dancing every Monday night. Usually it's me saying that I've had enough and it's time we headed home. Not tonight! He had to go to a meeting so I joined our friends for dinner and then we all headed off to dancing. By the time my husband arrived I had learnt a new line dance and done the warm up dance. We skip beginners because the floor is filled but we are first up for social dancing and then intermediates. Our usual finish time came and went and I was still rocking, Charleston kicking and having a ball. Eventually my husband said he was tired and we needed to call it quits but I had another dance in me so joined a new waltz solo before he finally dragged me off the floor. What a buzz!

Super NSV, congratulations. hahahah I bet that must have felt good. -
I went to the hospital tonight to get my port incision stitched my... My tube had pushed through my incision... Anyway, when they checked my blood pressure they didn't have to use the adult large cuff! Haha I guess my arms are skinnier now because the normal one fit just fine! Usually it pops off when they check my BP and they have to switch to a large cuff. I was so excited about this... My husband thought I was hilarious. I love the random and unexpected NSVs. Losing weight is fun:-) Have any of you guys had any victories lately??

Hugs my dear friend. I know this is a bit of a bitter sweet NSV for you. I know you'll really do great, either way. -
NSV, non scale victory. Yes, these are the things that make us smile and jump and laugh and say hooorahhh! But I think they should also be reflections as well. This evening I was feeling a little antsy. So close to 9/11. As many of you know, I am from NYC. I basically grew up on Wall St. from the time I was 19 years old. Needless to say I lost a lot of people that day. I had just moved to Chicago a few months prior. When I was working in NY I worked in 1WTC92nd floor, I worked with these people that many I considered family, for 15 years. No one made it out that was in the office that morning. So, feeling antsy, I decided to take a walk, get out some nervous energy etc. I'm sure many of you have seen this before in the evening how the sun elongates your shadow, ha, even elongated, pre sleeve you could still see yourself as obese. Well, this evening I was walking and I saw my shadow and I looked normal. That in itself to me is amazing but right next to my shadow was the shadow of the two buildings behind me. It was so sureal, I tell you. I just stood there and stared and then silently cried. So where as the shadow itself is a NSV, but the overall experience was an NSV because where I would normally be jumping up and down, I was reminded of the people that accepted me just the way I was and only wanted me to be happy and healthy. So my reflection is that this journey is dedicated to them. On Sunday, @8:00 am the Fire Fighters of Charlotte are going to climb the stairs of the Duke building 2x to represent the 110 flights in the WTC. Each one will be wearing a picture of a fallen first responder. I am going to walk there to show my support to them and then walk home. About 5.5-6 miles total.

Participated in our local Walk From Obesity and completed the 2 miles in the middle of the pack. This time last year I would have been out of breath within a quarter mile. So happy I have my sleeve.

One Month Out and Small NSV!
sasicas replied to Indymom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Gotta love those NSVs! Congrats!! -
Don't get to overheated about this, not yet. I got my band on 3/9/09, and I have just found some restriction last month. I am stalled now for a lot of reasons, my big ones are: not enough Water, don't eat regularly..some days only once, to much coffee with creamer and a real bad addiction to all things chocolate. My early loss was really easy, I thought. But the real answere is that I stuck to the plan very closely. I got so happy over the loss that I got lazy and careless. I'm not saying that is the case for you. You might need to find some NSV to get past this. How are your measurements? With you working out the inches must be coming off and the clothes getting looser on you. How do you feel, at the very least you must be feeling better, looking better, clearer skin. It's there, just look for it in the mirror. Each doc gives different instructions and has different views. Start getting that water in, it will help. Track your food intake, I was told 65g of protein; no calorie guide that I remember just the 4oz per meal. Just check to see how close you are to the guidelines you were given.

I met with my nutritionist yesterday and am down 25 lbs based upon their scale. I got 2 big thumbs up on my eating, protein and overall progress. I got "official" approval to move on to the next stage of foods and it's not nearly as restrictive as I thought, so I was thrilled to hear that. I feel like a real person again who gets to eat like "normal people"! Now, my first small NSV - I had time to kill after a doc's appointment today so I went to Kohl's to spend my Kohl's Cash and was perusing the women's clothing section. I'm not buying any clothes yet until my current clothes are falling off, but I wanted to see if I'd gone down any sizes. I was pre-surgery in a 24 pants and 3x shirts. I fit into 2 different pairs of size 20 pants and tried on a really cute 1x shirt! I had read about other people dropping sizes quickly and couldn't believe it, but holy crap, I guess it's true! I'm so thrilled and if I can drop another 25 lbs this month I might be in a 16 by the end of the month . . . that would be amazing.

Very cool NSV! I was a good yo-yo dieter and had everything in my closet from size 16-24. Now that I'm a 14 and a sometimes 12 I am finding good deals at Goodwill and other second-hand stores!
