  1. My husband and I go to dance classes/social dancing every Monday night. Usually it's me saying that I've had enough and it's time we headed home. Not tonight! He had to go to a meeting so I joined our friends for dinner and then we all headed off to dancing. By the time my husband arrived I had learnt a new line dance and done the warm up dance. We skip beginners because the floor is filled but we are first up for social dancing and then intermediates. Our usual finish time came and went and I was still rocking, Charleston kicking and having a ball. Eventually my husband said he was tired and we needed to call it quits but I had another dance in me so joined a new waltz solo before he finally dragged me off the floor. What a buzz!
  2. Just read your post and I was really taken aback. You have a great NSV in there and the timing was perfect. So sorry for the losses you suffered but so happy you are keeping on, keeping on. Love the comment by the little one btw
  3. Super NSV, congratulations. hahahah I bet that must have felt good.
  4. I went to the hospital tonight to get my port incision stitched my... My tube had pushed through my incision... Anyway, when they checked my blood pressure they didn't have to use the adult large cuff! Haha I guess my arms are skinnier now because the normal one fit just fine! Usually it pops off when they check my BP and they have to switch to a large cuff. I was so excited about this... My husband thought I was hilarious. I love the random and unexpected NSVs. Losing weight is fun:-) Have any of you guys had any victories lately??

Hugs my dear friend. I know this is a bit of a bitter sweet NSV for you. I know you'll really do great, either way.
  9. NSV, non scale victory. Yes, these are the things that make us smile and jump and laugh and say hooorahhh! But I think they should also be reflections as well. This evening I was feeling a little antsy. So close to 9/11. As many of you know, I am from NYC. I basically grew up on Wall St. from the time I was 19 years old. Needless to say I lost a lot of people that day. I had just moved to Chicago a few months prior. When I was working in NY I worked in 1WTC92nd floor, I worked with these people that many I considered family, for 15 years. No one made it out that was in the office that morning. So, feeling antsy, I decided to take a walk, get out some nervous energy etc. I'm sure many of you have seen this before in the evening how the sun elongates your shadow, ha, even elongated, pre sleeve you could still see yourself as obese. Well, this evening I was walking and I saw my shadow and I looked normal. That in itself to me is amazing but right next to my shadow was the shadow of the two buildings behind me. It was so sureal, I tell you. I just stood there and stared and then silently cried. So where as the shadow itself is a NSV, but the overall experience was an NSV because where I would normally be jumping up and down, I was reminded of the people that accepted me just the way I was and only wanted me to be happy and healthy. So my reflection is that this journey is dedicated to them. On Sunday, @8:00 am the Fire Fighters of Charlotte are going to climb the stairs of the Duke building 2x to represent the 110 flights in the WTC. Each one will be wearing a picture of a fallen first responder. I am going to walk there to show my support to them and then walk home. About 5.5-6 miles total.
  10. Participated in our local Walk From Obesity and completed the 2 miles in the middle of the pack. This time last year I would have been out of breath within a quarter mile. So happy I have my sleeve.
  11. Gotta love those NSVs! Congrats!!

    Getting Really Depressed

Don't get to overheated about this, not yet. I got my band on 3/9/09, and I have just found some restriction last month. I am stalled now for a lot of reasons, my big ones are: not enough Water, don't eat regularly..some days only once, to much coffee with creamer and a real bad addiction to all things chocolate. My early loss was really easy, I thought. But the real answere is that I stuck to the plan very closely. I got so happy over the loss that I got lazy and careless. I'm not saying that is the case for you. You might need to find some NSV to get past this. How are your measurements? With you working out the inches must be coming off and the clothes getting looser on you. How do you feel, at the very least you must be feeling better, looking better, clearer skin. It's there, just look for it in the mirror. Each doc gives different instructions and has different views. Start getting that water in, it will help. Track your food intake, I was told 65g of protein; no calorie guide that I remember just the 4oz per meal. Just check to see how close you are to the guidelines you were given.
  13. I met with my nutritionist yesterday and am down 25 lbs based upon their scale. I got 2 big thumbs up on my eating, protein and overall progress. I got "official" approval to move on to the next stage of foods and it's not nearly as restrictive as I thought, so I was thrilled to hear that. I feel like a real person again who gets to eat like "normal people"! Now, my first small NSV - I had time to kill after a doc's appointment today so I went to Kohl's to spend my Kohl's Cash and was perusing the women's clothing section. I'm not buying any clothes yet until my current clothes are falling off, but I wanted to see if I'd gone down any sizes. I was pre-surgery in a 24 pants and 3x shirts. I fit into 2 different pairs of size 20 pants and tried on a really cute 1x shirt! I had read about other people dropping sizes quickly and couldn't believe it, but holy crap, I guess it's true! I'm so thrilled and if I can drop another 25 lbs this month I might be in a 16 by the end of the month . . . that would be amazing.
  14. Very cool NSV! I was a good yo-yo dieter and had everything in my closet from size 16-24. Now that I'm a 14 and a sometimes 12 I am finding good deals at Goodwill and other second-hand stores!
  15. NSV Alert -My coworker did not recognize me walking to the mailbox this morning.

  16. This is a cool NSV really, and I think a lot of it has to do with the way we seem to lose weight. The scales don't drop for some of us but we're losing inches galore so we think we're not really getting small enough to be able to fit in way smaller clothes yet. My scales seem stuck but my clothes still seem to get looser all the time. haha The other thing is losing faster than we've ever lost weight in the past. It's really difficult for the brain to catch up sometimes lol. So you're absolutely right, we need to get in the habit of trying on our closet clothes fairly regularly! Thanks for the reminder! Congrats!
  17. So today I am 5 weeks out. I have lost 42 lbs. Had a week stall when TOM came to visit but all is well now. Some of the NSV's I have encountered: Going from a size 18 to a size 12 pants and XXL shirts to L. All of my clothes are way too big now except for the ones I held on to and thank goodness I did. Not getting out of breath to do anything.... and I do mean anything. My boyfriend putting his arms around my waist and being able to grab his elbows with his hands...and commenting on it. Ex-boyfriends seeing me and telling me how great I look. I have a ton but I have saved the best for last........ And sex is so worth it now!!!! Ok, ok. I know TMI .... but it is so true.lol I hope everyone else is doing great as well!

    NSV shout outs

I am 6 weeks out and have had two awesome NSV's. First.... I walk and run on treadmill every night. My husband finally decides to join me in the exercise room for the first time last night. As I was running he just stared at me and said "I am amazed!". He couldn't believe I was actually running! :-) Second.... Took my kiddos to a program and my three year old got tired....when he climbed in my lap in the small seat, I actually had a lap for him to sit in and neither one of us was uncomfortable! Woohoo! I am loving the sleeve!!!

    Can You Hear Me!!!!!

Congratulations to you!! That's a fantastic NSV, and I bet it did feel fabulous!
  22. We share many of the same NSVs. My most cherished NSV is that I have learned to forgive myself when I fall off the wagon and that all is not lost, but rather to jump back onto that wagon and hang on for dear life! I used to beat myself up and give up. No longer will I do that! The only thing that I have not learned and probably will never learn is to love my workouts! hate, hate exercise, but it is a mandatory thing in my life, so I just get it done! All in all not a bad year. I like the new and improving me! congrats yl2010...wishing you continued success!

  24. I was at a friends little ones bday party. They own a coffee shop soothe party was there during off hrs. So I was behind the counter making espresso and I hear my friend say "that's Pasquini" I look up a a woman who I have known for about 9 yrs, though I generally only see her a few times a yr. Is standing there talking to my friend and she says, "who?" my friend replies again, and she stares at me and then says "Oh MY God!!!! Wow, now if you want to reinvent yourself THAT is how to do it!" and goes on for a while about it to my friend. About 30 min later I hear my friend laugh and say "that's Pasquini, you know him. Yes you do, (mentions my kids names) no really" and laughs. some more. :-). A good moment
