It’s this Friday (10/4) for me! I’m down 8 pounds from pre op diet and excited to get this done.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Honestly the thing that’s scaring me most is the day my appetite returns. I’ve had moments, like when I’m fasting for >18-20 hours, but I’m talking about when my FOR-REAL appetite comes back. I think that losing a pound in a month where yours already came back is awesome work! Besides, you’ve lost down so far that losing even 1 pound is a way bigger deal than it used to be. I truly aim to reach goal weight this month. I’ve got just under 4 pounds to go. After that, I’d like to lose another 10 pounds while I settle into maintenance. I don’t care if that last 10 takes 2 or 6 months TBH, I just want to find a way to successfully transition from losing mode to maintaining within a 10 pound window mode (which is why I want/need those last 10 vanity pounds) I’m so sorry you’re in back pain, Anna.... that sucks to hear.

    🍁 OCT 2019 CHALLENGE 🍁

Okay so I’m in! Personal goal: hit GW this month. I’m less than 5 pounds away. Surgery type: VGS on 2-6-19 Weight as of last Friday was 158.8. BMI 24.9 (finally NORMAL range) I’m going to choose anywhere abs Honestly don’t have a fave sweater bc this is my first fall PO. prior to this year, I didn’t have many sweaters bc I’ve always been so hot-natured. Gonna need to find a fave. How fun! Oh and because its October, I’m gonna put this here in honor of myself and all of my sisters who have battled, or who has had a friend or loved one battle this beast.

    October Surgery Roll Call

We made it all, OCTOBER! I know there were a lot of 10/1 folks. Wishing you all a speedy recovery ❤️
  6. My surgery was on 8/21/19. From 2/18 until my pre-op appointment, I lost 35 pounds on my own through eating right abs exercise. There were a lot of ups and downs but I still managed 35 pounds gone in my own. My PCP, asked if I was sure I wanted to go through with the surgery. I would not be dissuaded! I was 280 pounds at my pre-op, the day before I started my liquid diet. My WeightLoss has slowed but as of this morning, I am down to 239. I cannot even remember the last time my weight was that low. My PCP has cut my blood pressure meds because my blood pressure has come down so drastically. My hubby is complaining about how much energy I have. We live in a very rural area and have to drive three hours to Vegas or five hours to Phoenix for the surgery. Based on my success my PCP referred another of his patients to where I went for my surgery. This hasn’t been easy but it has been so worth it!
  7. Hi all 55F, NJ and sleeve on 10/15! Started pre op diet today. Can not wait!
  8. sleeved 9/6/19. I get lightheaded almost every time I get up. Other than that I am great. Does anyone else get lightheaded?

    Pouch reset

Welcome to the site Many of us have experienced a weight gain. Its great that you have reached out and working on getting it back down. Pouch reset is going back to liquids and progressing back out to real food stage. (It does not shrink your pouch) It may help you feel your restriction a bit. Its one way to help get back to healthy behaviors. Another option is to start at real food stage if you feel reset is too restrictive. Some choose to change diet plans Keto, paleo, vegetarian,IF, whole 30 etc. Only my opinion. Whatever diet you choose, The key is logging your food in an app and staying with in your weight loss calories/macros. Basics: Food plan, exercise, hydrate You know what to do but it may be difficult to get your head back in the game. A few threads on the site that may help. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/425354-the-importance-of-doing-the-head-work/?tab=comments#comment-4776743 https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/428113-🍁-oct-2019-challenge-🍁/?tab=comments#comment-4815439

    OOTD

So I have posted pictures with my daughter. She is 10. I know this isn’t clothing related, but you are the group I want to share this with. This morning she is making her lunch, being a typical 10 year old only child, she wants to be just like mommy. Instead of her usual sandwich that I make her, she is making herself meat and cheese roll ups like I have. She makes sure her water bottle is full before we leave. Last night she wanted my size plate. I always lay out our plates for dinner. It looks like a baby plate, mama plate(which is for my daughter) and daddy large plate. But I always take the baby plate. I love that she recognizes the healthy stuff I’ve made a habit. I hope she never has to go through the weight issues we have all had, by starting out on the right foot.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Great to hear how everyone's going! Even although I haven't been posting much lately, it's been good having a big ole catch-up... I got really behind on our wee thread. How are our other infrequent February posters? You all still out there? September was a slow loss month for me, but I finally today lost a total of 60kgs! Only 9kgs (19 pounds) to go and I will have lost HALF my body weight. How crazy is that?! Also, I turn 30 next week. If you'd told me I'd be seeing my 30th in 60kgs lighter this time last year I wouldn't have believed it. Heck, if you'd said I'd be 20kgs lighter I would have been stoked! So crazy just how much life can change in a few short months. Hubster and I are thinking of climbing Rangitoto here in Auckland for my birthday. That, and going to see the Joker movie (mainly because I know my husband is desperate to see it. Lol.) Hoping I can lose my 19 pounds by my 9-month check-in in November... probably a bit of a tall ask, but hey, I'm always up for a challenge 🙂 Sending you all positive thoughts! ❤️
  15. I’m 10 months out and have lost 90 lbs. plan on losing 20 more. While on liquids and soft foods I didn’t think my restriction was very good but once I started eating regular food it really kicked in. I still get hungry, some days more than others, but I get full very quickly. You just have to be careful because there are ways to “eat around” the restriction and you can still over eat if you are eating the wrong foods. I’ve not had any regrets thus far! Weight loss

Thank you, I’m 10 days now & have 2 days with no loss 😏 I’m starting to get hungry of an evening now though which is quite scary 😬 I just made it over the BMI too 😊
  17. Not sure if this is allowed, but I have a box of Beef Bone Broth never open all 4 are still in the box, 3 Chicken bone broth. I used one, but they are all individually sealed its the orange package. 3 other broths which is Cream of Tomato, Chicken soup, and chicken with pasta (all broths). I have two protein powders. One is Coffee and the other is Double chocolate fudge. Also a Bariatric Pal plastic mug you heat the broths in. So total of 10 broths, 2 shakes, 1 mug. I bought all of this off Bariatric Pal and they are left over from my 2wk liquid diet. I'm not gonna use them so they are just sitting here. If you live close and willing to meet near me somewhere then they are yours for free! I know how costly it is getting ready for the 2wk liquid faze and the first month after surgery! So let me know. I won't hold for anyone (sorry) unless we are meeting of course. So its whomever can meet first. Thanks! (delete if not allowed) Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    OOTD

Speaking of fashion, I spent a big part of the day finally going through all my stuff from years past. I’ve sorted and I’m kind of sad because I know the great majority will end up at goodwill. Not saying that’s a bad thing, but I really wish there was a way I could give it all (and I honestly wouldn’t ask for money for it) to someone just having surgery and a size or two bigger than my old clothes so they’d have some stuff to wear while they transition. I did keep one pair of size 22 pants and xxl top that I wore last year during the holidays. The pants I’m keeping bc I can remember not being able to zip them up easily last July when I hit my 10-year HW of 259. I had zero shorts, or capris, or dresses or anything. It was a billion degrees outside and I had crammed myself in these cargo-style ankle pants and tried to pretend I wasn’t miserable. I have a hard time remembering what I ate for dinner last night, but I clearly remember last July 4th when the realization that I’d gotten so fat that I had about 10 things to wear almost crushed me. I couldn’t wait for the holiday to just be over so I could start this journey. That was after almost 6 months dithering and researching WLS and deciding yet again to diet and exercise on my own. Cause you know.... that method was so successful for all of us. The top I’m keeping there’s a photo of me in it from Christmas Eve 2018. Probably one of 3 photos I allowed to be taken of me in the last couple of years. Anyway, I spent a lot of time going through all of that stuff which kind of felt like a combo between a root canal and counseling session with my therapist.

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery

Yes. They asked us to try to lose 5-10% during the process then when I had my consult 1 mo prior he asked me to refrain from as many carbs as possible and lose whatever I could. He explained that it really helps him during surgery because your liver will shrink some and every little bit of extra wiggle room he has helps the end results to come out better, especially since I have fatty liver Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
