  1. I started eating teaspoons of peanut butter the 2nd week and it was ok with my Dr. Has protein and since I started getting hungry the 2nd week, just a teaspoon of it helped satisfy me. Just make sure not to drink with it. It was tempting for me since peanut butter makes me so thirsty. But I didn't give in and 5-10 minutes after I eat it, the thrist goes away.

    reaching my goal

JAN 27 2007 Oct 27 2006 weighing in @ 245. today i go in for my surgury and i feel okay my stomach is a little sore but over all I'm ok. I was told to sip on liquids for the next 2 weeks, i think that lasted for about 7 days than i started drinking chicken noodles broth. and shortely after that i was eating regular. I went to the MD for my 2 week check up and lost about 10 pounds I was so excited. He scheduled me for another appointment the following month, I was down another 5 pounds, this was over the Thanksgiving break I tasted a little of everything, I did'nt have a taste for junk food as i usually do. My next appointment was Dec 27, and I was weighing in @224, I just know i gained weight because of all the food from Christmas, but to my surprise I lost. At that time I got my first fill 1cc, I wanted the doctor to add more to my fill but he insist that 1cc is enough, and he will increase the fill every 2 months. My goal is to lose 100 pounds bring me to 145-150. My next fill is 2/27. Its 3 months as of today and so far I have lost a total of 21 pounds per my last weigh in at my MDO but I've purchased a scale(worst move i made) and my scales tells me I'm between 215-216, so on record I'm 21 pounds smaller off record I'm 30 pounds smaller. :clap2: latley I've been snacking more than I like, I love puff cheese dodlles and woppers candy. i started walking anywhere from 1-3 miles, but not consistantly. I would like to lose an average of 15 pounds a month, it looks like I'm about 10 pounds a month which isn't bad but they say the weight loss slows down and I have a long way to go. about 70 pounds to go. i want to reach my goal within a year of surgery so that about 8 pounds a month, and so far I'm on the right road. but i'm afriad if i start walking and cutting my calories the doctor isn't going to fill my band because he may think its working at the size i'm at. :faint:

    Weight Plateau

My health care partner nurse told me to increase my protein by 10 - 20 grams a day because I felt that my weight loss was slowing. I was doing between 50 and 60. So I did and I lost 6.2 lbs this week!!
  4. I burped a lot immediately, and still do 10 days post-surgery. Didn't actually pass gass until 3 or 4 days later. I feel just fine now. I was walking the first night...I don't know if that helped me or not. Good luck!
  5. Weight loss is SO individual. Keep with your program, and you will lose weight. Between my preop diet and 2 months post op (10 weeks total), I've lost 48lbs. And i stall a lot. You got this!

    Need Some Pep Talk

You clearly know where you have gone wrong so you also know where you need to make changes. That's the logical answer but for most of us obesity is an emotional issue and it seems that that is where you are really struggling. Do you have anyone nearby who can provide you with support? My husband is my best supporter and I would be really struggling without him! If you really are looking for advice then try this....make small changes. You have climbed a huge mountain to get to your surgery so it probably feels like it should be easy from here. Sorry, it's not. but you can make it easier on yourself by making small changes, one at a time until you are enjoying the cumulative benefits. Decide to walk for 10 minutes a day and then after a week, increase to 15 or 20 minutes a day. Or decide to concentrate on drinking all of your water until it becomes a habit. Remember, you didn't gain your weight overnight and it won't come off overnight. Good luck.
  7. :drool:Hi All: These have been posted before and I think it is a great way to try a great-tasting Protein drink. It has a high protein to weight ratio. That means that the 26g serving size will yield you 23 grams of protein. Other Protein drinks I have tried have a 30g serving sixe and 15 grams of protein. The rest of the 15 g is sweetener or filler or whatever else they put in those protein supplements. YOU CAN ONLY ORDER THESE BY PHONE. THEY ARE LIMITING ONE PER PERSON. IF YOU HAVE NUMEROUS PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD, YOU CAN PUT IN AN ORDER UNDER THEIR NAME AND CREDIT CARD. SYNTRAX'S PHONE NUMBER IS 1-866-333-7403. ASK FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE (THEY CLOSE AT 5P.M. CENTRAL TIME, I THINK) and place your order for 10 samples for $9.99 UPS GROUND shipping. Bodybuilding.com has all the flavors available. Search "Syntrax nectrar" 2.2 pounds 36 servings is around $28 and their grabngo packs are $24 for 21 individually-wrapped servings of one flavor. Bodybuilding.com has a good price on click coffee protein but melting mama is the best one to contact for all the click protein promotions! Question: the max protein the eggface uses in her recipes is quite expensive at GNC. does anyone know a website that carries this protein for a reasonable price? what flavors do you all like of the max protein?i know even if i don't like the protein, i can always make protein ice cream. i am soo sick of sugar free popsicles and crystal light pops. i wish grocery stores carried healthy protein ice cream. I like the herbalife unflavored Protein powder and their shakes. i go through reputable sellers t hrough ebay (always fresh products--great service) because i don't want to go through a local distributor that wants to recruit me into the herbalife organization. Herbalife chai latte ranks up there along with click and my syntrax nectars. i buy the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury once a year. i like all the flavors but i prefer the syntrax. The unjury Soup is okay. If i had to do preop again, i would do unjury for two weeks instead of the expensive and bleh tasting medifast and Optifast for 2 or more weeks. UNJURY HAS SAMPLES--ABOUT TWO BUCKS FOR EACH FLAVOR. you have to check with your doc, of course. for those that are mandated to do the optifast/medifast "hell" you might be able to find affordable products at dietdirect.com--they have a lot of protein-enriched liquids that are less than a buck a serving. when i go on a roadtrip vacation., i like the smartforlife.com. Yup, those are the gimmicky cookie diet folks! Their Cookies are okay and prevent my convenience store snacking that i do mostly on weekends (choc chip is the best IMO) but what i love are the shakes--the powder is premixed in a little bottle. you have to add Water voila! i love their shakes--it's cheaper to go through costco.com and search "smart for life" or through their website. The SMARTFORLIFE.COM company sometimes lower the price of items if you ask. Here are my favorite Syntrax Nectars: fuzzy navel, twisted cheffy, chocolate truffle and capuccino. They mix well in a shaker bottle and not in a magic bullet. As people have mentioned. they have a "foam" bot a not-so-heavy protein taste. i mix them with skim milk, soy milk, filtered water, g4 gatorade, Vitamin water zero, Powerade zero, crystal light, coffee, orange juice (i love the tropicana 50--coupon on tropicana.com--it has 50 perecent less sugar than regular oj). I HOPE EVERYONE GETS TO TRY THE SYNTRAX nectar SAMPLES! Please post where you get your wls samples, what you paid and what you got in the sample pack! Cheers, Angel in Phoenix

    FitBit?

I bought the Fitbit One about two weeks ago, and I love it. I clicked mine onto my bra and can easily check it during the day, and it does motivate me to move more as well. I love that I can set it to vibrate a little reminder whenever I need to for moving because I also use the desk at work mostly--so right now since I usually get up and move at lunch I have it set to remind me to move at 10 AM and 2 PM. The alarm to wake up in the morning is good too, even though iPhone it would be too little to wake me. it's less harsh to wake up to then my alarm clock, and is a subtle reminder even when I first wake up that I will need to be active during the day and that my Fitbit is ready to track it! The food database is not nearly as large as with MyFitnessPal, which I used to use. I decided I would try the one that came with my Fitbit, and am entering those things that are not on it but I like to use, but it has the same option of frequently used foods being easy to track. I also like that it has Snacks between meals already programmed as options and because the database is smaller I actually don't have to wade through so many choices trying to find the one I'm looking for. But if I get frustrated with too few choices I will go back to MyFitnessPal which you can link to the Fitbit so that food tracked on MyFitnessPal shows up on your Fitbit dashboard. Good luck, and consider the clip online to avoid the arm movement thing. By the way, the clip is very very secure.

How do you recover from really tough workouts?

You're still sweating because your body is still in fat burning mode! That was indeed an awesome workout! Replenish as much as you can and get lots of rest. Good job!! I bike 10 miles at the gym and I'm dying! I can't imagine 54!
  10. Sleeved 10/11/12 tonyareneenyc ( I need to update badly lol)
  11. Hi there! I'm sort of new around here and still finding my way around so I apologize if this is covered somewhere already. I had surgery on 1/15/15 and therefore am 19 days post-op. I lost 14lbs my first 2 weeks, but have not budged this past week. I am following the eating guidelines and am wondering if this is common? It's REALLY discouraging and I'm trying to stay positive and not think I went through all of this for nothing. Help? Elizabeth

11 Months! Wahoo! Give us #'s

Hey all you Dec. 07 bandsters! What a year! I have lost 60 pounds and probably can lose about 10 more. It has been a year of ups and downs for me, and I am still working at doing the lap-band thing right. I am wearing size 8 jeans (never happened before), and feeling so much better. It's encouraging hearing all of your stories. Keep them coming!
  13. I love to cook. Here is a link to the recipe. I got it from foodlab. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/01/best-vegetarian-bean-chile-recipe.html
  14. I started to diet with the aid of a Bodybugg a week ago. I basically just cut down on the portions I was eating and stopped with the fried Snacks. I've lost about 10 pounds and my stomach is beginning to burn. It goes away for a while after eating or drinking. I've been on hundreds of diets and it has always been the same. Is that burn what hunger feels like? Is it a bad thing? It is the fat being burned?

    Hair Loss

10 months out RNY. I'd say I've lost over 1/2 hair, and I had SUPER thick hair to start with. No amount of vitamins, shampoos or protein will stop it. I was told it slows around month 6, but it hasnt. I also hear it can keep falling out until your weight loss levels out. One lady I knew said it took two years for it to grow back. The hair loss is real, it's devastating and i've done every single thing by the book. I wish I was to the point in my journey where I can tell you it comes back, but I'm still losing a lot at ten months out.
  16. It sounds like you are describing cystic acne. That can be a symptom of PCOS. You really should go see an ob/gyn or an endocrinologist and have your hormones checked. Even if it is not PCOS, getting a blood work up is a good thing to see if anything else may be awry. PCOS is an endocrine disorder that affects 5-10% of women in their reproductive years. PCOS stands for poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. It is a not a disease as there is no known cause, but a syndrome (list of symptoms). There is a correlation between insulin resistance and PCOS as well as obesity, however; PCOS can develop in women at any age and weight. PCOS symptoms include weight gain, mainly in the abdomen, cystic acne along the jaw line and chin, absent or irregular menstrual cycles, male pattern hair (chin, chest, back, etc), male pattern baldness, inability to loose weight or looses very slowly no matter what the amount of food or exercise, infertility and miscarriage due to hormonal imbalances usually involving insulin resistance and too many androgens (male hormones) in the body. Many women with PCOS also suffer from depression and skin issues, like eczema, have elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. PCOS cannot be cured, but it can be managed with medications and life style changes. I have PCOS. I developed symptoms at age 16 but was not properly diagnosed until 24. I have been struggling with it and my eating forever. I just got banded on 11/29. I hope with weight loss, some of the symptoms will decrease. Oh, don't try popping cystic acne. They are so deep seated that you will only get minimal release, and it will only inflame them worse; or they won't pop at all without a razor to open it. They can also leave nasty scars. You can try hot cloths on them to relieve the pain and try an over the counter hydrocortisone cream to relieve the inflammation. You may want to consider a dermatologist to see what cleansers and medications that may work for your acne. Good luck.
  17. I felt terrible yesterday. Pain, nausea, and GERD. Called WLC and they guided me through the GERD. I stayed in bed all day. I'm a little better today, but very tender. Took one big nap. I feel like I've been set back from recovering. It almost feels like day 1. Anyone get sick this early?

    Michigan anyone?

I live in Flint also and Dr. Kia did my surgery. He is the best. I have had no complications and I'm 10 months out now and down 144 lbs. They do have support groups once a month. I don't usually go because of work, but I would love too.

    Band Comes Out January 29th!

Glad to hear your doing really well. It's the count down for me. Pre op is Tuesday and surgery 2/10. Did you find out why you had to have a drain? Maybe Dr. Higa does them on all his sleeves? I'll have to find out if it's routine with him on Tuesday. I've had a drain before so if I get one no biggie I guess. I look forward to seeing your progress and I'll post as soon as I can after surgery. Cheers to you!!

Less than 48 hours to go!

Had my band out in December and getting sleeved on sept 12. I had already gained most of my weight back prior to band being taken out have gained 10-15 lbs since its removal. So, basically starting from scratch! I've wondered about wl with so much time in between. I've heard revisioners often don't lose as quickly as first time wls peeps, but with so much time in between I wonder if that will still be the case?? Good luck!!
  22. I feel dizzy a lot of the times now and I have no energy. I take Vitamins and try to eat at least 3 times a day. I was 218 pounds and now I'm 125 pounds. Update on OCt sleevers.....

I had surgery 10/12 and tomorrow I have my 2 wk visit and start my pureed stage. I have been doing well, very little nausea, Hardly any pain and going to the bathroom everyday. I am oh so looking forward to tasting food. I am having to crush my pills in applesauce. Yuck!!! I have already planned my meals for tomorrow!#! Lol I hope it goes well and I tolerated the texture of the pureed food. I'm thinking of trying refried Beans first and scrambled eggs. I have researched on several sites for ideas for the pureed stage. Pinterest has some really good recipes for sleevers. I am so excited. Sent from my LGLS996 using the BariatricPal App

    Time for exercise

I started my LB journey because of the pain my body was going through, just trying to keep up with basic daily activities. Since being banded I have done very little exercising, due to said pain. The years of carrying around 100+ extra pounds has left me with bone on bone knee joints. Yes, taking off 100 lbs has help, but the damage was done. My weight also was beginning to stall b/c of my slow metabolism, I needed to start exercising. 10 days ago, I had a Lt total knee replacement ( Rt is scheduled for Sept 11) and I am so excited by just what I can now do with my physical therapist. 4hrs after surgery they expected me to just stand up and then sit in a chair. I was able to walk down to nurses station and back ( I had farthest room from ns). Yesterday PT had me doing stair climbing, say what???? lol 10 days later I'm ready to get rid of my cane. Hoping for the same results on the right knee (xray said that was my worse knee) I am so excited about my new future! Thanks to the LBS for getting me there! Weight goal here I come, one step at a time.
