Hey all - thought I'd check in with an NSV this morning! Struggling with a stall that seems to be lasting all month, so turned to clothing instead. One of the things that always made me sad while on vacation was not being able to fit into cute souvenier t-shirts in women's sizes. I don't usually care about brand names, but in particular with tees, I've always wanted a "life is good" shirt. Well, at Cabelas, checking out the life is good section a couple, I couldn't decide on short sleeve or long sleeve would be my goal. Wasn't planning to buy because surely they wouldn't fit! Hubby threw both in the cart and checked out. Tried them on this morning and both fit perfectly! Woo hoo! I was going to wear an old, too big shirt today, but screw that - Life is Good! Also had one of my employees approach me this week and say "I don't want to be weird or anything, but you look fantastic". trusting the process.....

no you are not doing anything wrong. a pound a day is simply not possible for any length of time. i also lost 30+ my first month then 8-10 per month since. A slowing is natural and healthy. Dont weigh everyday it just messes with your mind. pick a day of the week (same day as surgery or a weekend) and weigh in just once per week to take the emotional pressure off. It can take a while to relearn the full signals from your brain. If you know you will hurt at 4 bites then stop at 3. and yes slower is way better. Try to enjoy the journey you have started and look for NSV (non scale victory) in your life - getting off meds - smaller cloths - mobility -

I'm 5'4". My highest weight evs was 325lbs. My most recent high was 287lbs and the weight was heading up, up, up. I started pre-surgery preparation last May (2017). SW 222.4lbs CW 193.2lbs 1st GW 150lbs Secret GW 135lbs (that puts me smack in the middle of my theoretical "normal" range for my height) My actual physical goals are beyond scale related. I want to reduce my chronic daily pain back to the point that it's <4 on the pain scale. I want to reduce my risk of BC recurrence, normalize my A1c out of the pre-diabetic range, reduce my fasting insulin, reduce the fluid around my heart and reverse my heart enlargement, normalize blood pressure without drugs, reverse my asthma and dependence on asthma drugs, decrease my left arm lymphedema leftover from BC, increase my core strength to correct some DDD changes and curvatures, improve my balance, increase my endurance, and be able to participate in life outside my front door step. I want to be able to go anywhere, do anything, wear event appropriate clothing without being self-conscious, be able to wear a bathing suit in public and be able to take float trips down the Frio and Guadalupe and Comal rivers. My most recent NSV is that I went to a minor league baseball game last night and wore a short sleeved shirt for the first time in 20 years. My butt fit in the seat (barely) but it fit. And I wore my arms bare in all their bat-winged glory. I put the F-U in fun. It felt so freeing and I was able to just cope with the pain from sitting in the chairs and for too long without using anything for pain, and was still able to enjoy the night.

Working toward the day someone thinks I look too thin. A non-NSV loss, just awhile back little kid👦 looked at me and said "Are you fat or are you a 👩woman"? I will drop enough pounds that my girl-hood 🙆shows and I get a figure that just curves in and out. I'll settle for a glass coke bottle figure 👸instead of a salami🍤 one!

Women, getting close to goal weight, how to find a bra that fits?
GotProlactinoma posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok, I went to a dept store to try on bras. That in itself is a NSV (non scale victory) for me, because they never had those 38DDDDs in there. Well, I’ve dropped down to a 34DD, exciting. I can shop anywhere. Nope, NOTHING fits. All those beautiful bras, but my girls are so EMPTY that they just look like melted ice cream cones in everything. At least in my too big 36DDDs they are kind of hidden even though they aren’t supported. I am planning once at goal to have a lift and augmentation, but until then, is there any kind of bra that looks great when your boobs are super deflated? Thanks. -
Smaller clothes are definitely one of the best NSV! Good work!

Before surgery i was a size 26-28 or 3x i almost cried my mom was there with me and i told her i never thought i would fit in them... Sent from my SM-S727VL using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm still 8 days pre-op, but already 8 kilos (approx 20lb) down in the last 2 months as I cut out carbs and then started VLCD 2 weeks ago. Already had to retire my old PJ pants as they were so loose on my legs they'd ride up above my knees overnight, and today one of my pairs of pants was too loose in the waist for me to be comfortable to wear them in public (I dug out my old size 22 work pants from 2 years ago and put them on instead). I'm looking forward to many nsvs, including being able to cross my legs properly!

So I'm just finishing up all my pre-op requirements for submission to insurance. I just wanted to share some happy news. I've been following a low carb diet since Feb. My entire adult life I have had high cholesterol and high triglycerides. Well....today I had bloodwork done....and they are both NORMAL! I've never seen them normal! I'm just over the moon about it! I'm looking forward to what else is to come once I do have my surgery! Thanks for listening!

Hello fellow MGBG-ers! I've been out on travel for work so haven't had time to post any updates. Big NSV this week - had to fly to Tennessee - I not only fit into the seat comfortably (not "hanging" over and impinging on my neighbor and feeling uncomfortable the whole time trying to lean away from him/her) - but the seatbelt FIT! It not only FIT - but i had to TIGHTEN IT!!! OH IT FELT SO GOOD! This morning I weighed in at 220 pounds - which according to my Baritastic tracking ap lowers my BMI to 38! (Although my ticker here still says 39, so I'm assuming it's like 38.9 - but it's still 38 and heading down!) This was the first trip I have made since January - where I was at my high weight - so people definitely noticed and commented. We did a lot of tours with a lot of walking with a lot of uphills/stairs/in and out of small spaces - and I never got winded nor had to rest nor fell behind. My energy level was great! We also did a construction tour where we had to wear reflective vests for protection. The last time we were there - I remember distinctly - we posed for a picture and the vest they gave me wouldn't zip so I left it hanging open. This time it zipped up and I had room to spare! Also we did a tour of a lab and they said we had to wear lab coats - one of the guys was handing them out and said "here you go - you look like a medium" - I was VERY nervous because I'm used to being at least a 1X or 2X - but I put it on and it snapped up! It was snug - but not tight - and didn't pull at the snaps - so I wore it proudly Lots of eating out for business meals - but I made excellent choices the entire time. Luckily a lot of restaurants now offer small plates, so it's easy to order something right sized for me where it's not apparent I'm only eating about 1/6 of what a normal person would. I also steered clear of wine - which is also a bit part of the social aspect of business meals - and just ordered water. A great trip - today's a great day - and I am going to remain committed to the plan until I reach my goal! I hope everyone is doing well - Roxine

February bypass buddies?

Stats first: HW 427.4 (Jan. 2) SW: 413 (Feb. 15) Last week: 369.2 Today: 366.4 So, down 2.8 since last week, 46.6 since surgery, and 61 overall. Wish I were moving a bit faster in terms of weight loss (I miss those first three weeks of averaging 10 pounds a week, but I know that was mostly water weight), but it's still going down more steadily than I ever have before, so I can't really complain. Still using the elliptical for a few minutes a few times a day. When you're as out of shape as I am, even just a few minutes makes for noodle-y legs! Working on building up my time. Have been working on expanding the types of foods I eat because variety = less boredom = success. Am borrowing my mom's boyfriend's MASSIVE air fryer this week to see if I like it. Any suggestions? Tried a wrap from Subway for supper the other night and it was GREAT. So much texture. I got the spinach wrap but only actually ate half the whole thing and the bare minimum of the wrap needed to hold it together (so less than a quarter of the spinach wrap in one sitting). Turkey, bacon, spinach, cucumber, tomato, and light mayo = YUM and CRUNCH (that was always my favorite combo before surgery, but in a footlong on the wheat bread). Ate the second half of the wrap for lunch yesterday. Went out to eat at Cheddar's with a friend on Sunday and had lemon pepper chicken, corn, and broccoli. It came with rice, but I didn't bother with that. $12 (including tip) for about four meals of food. Only downside was I forgot my debit card in the receipt folder, so I had to go back (an hour drive each way) last night to get it! Another good texture/flavor combo: stacks of hint of salt NutThins, garlic & herb Laughing Cow cheese wedge, and turkey pepperoni. That's what I have packed for my lunch today, along with a clementine. Oh, an NSV: I realized yesterday (when getting out my ID to get my debit card back) that I am more than 30 pounds below the weight on my driver's license. I hadn't looked at it in so long, I couldn't remember what it said. It expires in December, so I'll be able to get a new pic and new weight listed on it! -

Wednesday Weigh In! How is everyone doing? What is the latest in your life? Share an NSV! Surgery date 2.20.18 SW 222.4 CW 196.0 (-26.4lbs since SD) GW 150 Hope all of you are having a great week!!! (My NSV is that my tape measure is down 1 inch since the beginning of the month and I can feel my ribs! ) -
My 2nd time around I started at a HW of 242 at my revision consult. Which was actually heavier than my first wls back in 2010. SW was 226 on 8/8/17. My program never asked me to set a specific goal. If I went by the BMI chart, I should be 142. I had exactly 100lbs of excess weight to lose. My personal goal would be to get to 150. Just at the top of normal on the BMI chart for my height. As of this morning, I have 9lbs to go. My first NSV that really stood out was being able to wear riding boots that weren’t wide calf. Now I can cross my legs easily and even double cross my legs. Also, I tried on jeans on Sunday and was able to put on a size 8 without issue.

I'm 5'3" HW was 412 and CW 357 (still pre-op). My goal is 150, but like someone else said, getting off meds, and walking better are most important. I haven't been under 300 in 35 years. NSV would be increased ability to move around. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app
