I'm drinking shakes, eating cottage cheese, unsweetened applesauce, soups- cream of anything , sf yogurt. I add unflavored Protein powder to some of this too. GENEPRO has 30 grams of protein so if you add it to Soup it's a good amount. I have eaten some mashed potatoes although I don't think that's a good choice. I don't get creative with puréed - just the basics. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I hate that I had this surgery
MaryAnn49 replied to HisMrsWright's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
GENEPRO helped me with this. I added a scoop to my hot decaf tea and a scoop to my broth. I drank both all day. I strained out the noodles from Lipton chicken noodle Soup. I told all my friends in my support group that. It really turned my mind around. 24 hours later I felt much better. I hope your doctors appointment goes well on Monday. Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused

I haven't been able to find Protein2O in any store in the Tacoma, WA area, and I'd love to try it. I may bite the bullet and order some but the shipping is terrible. Like @@LisaMergs, I'm not much interested in food anymore. It's just a job now, instead of my very favorite hobby, but I still like to cook which actually was a hobby of mine and the eating was a secondary part of it. I exist on mostly yogurt, string cheese, refried Beans, Fairlife milk (if you haven't tried this yet, get it right away) and GENEPRO Protein powder. I eat a few bites of vegetables most nights with my family and their meal, but I don't eat with gusto like I used to. I know my hunger is going to come back at some point, so for the time being I'm enjoying this 'meh' relationship with food and am trying to shed as much weight as possible. We're having friends over for Thanksgiving dinner today and I'm making part of the meal, they're bringing part. Even cooking all this normally gorge-worthy food hasn't make me hungry, eating the actual meal should be interesting Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! -
I ordered GENEPRO from Amazon. No taste. 1 tablespoon=30 grams. I add it to Soup, pudding and. Plain yogurt with fruit in a blender. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes, it can be frustrating and disheartening to not have the scales move for a long period of time. I guess some people are lucky, and they lose quickly. I am stepping up dense Proteins, just got GENEPRO Protein powder from the States, that I can add to my coffee. My other Protein Powder, I add to my Chobani yoghurt. I have read on these forums that if weight loss stops or stalls for a long time, providing we don't indulge in slider foods, eating protein mainly meals, no carbs, can help reset and re-start the weight-loss again. My plan is: 80g Protein, 800 calories per day. Percentage wise: 40% Protein, 35% Carbs, and 22% fats. I have been upping up my chicken, lamb, fish, turkey and pork, as well as adding more protein powder as of today. Time will show. I am glad that you downloaded MFP, and now can track your daily food/drink goals and amounts. I also upped my Water intake. Good luck to us both, @@rose1504

Protein Shakes Ugh!
mipookiebear replied to kmamaward's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is wrong with Premier protein drinks? They recommended them where I had surgery, because they have 30 grams of protein. I loved them before surgery but don't like taste after surgery. I use flavorless Genepro. I add to my hot coco or tea or broth. I like that I don't have that whey flavor to shake. -
I was sleeved yesterday. How are other's doing?

Where do you buy this? Have you tried GENEPRO? Gene pro is what I've been using. It says it is unflavored but it is FAR FROM IT!! Also, how big is the sccoop and how much protein does it offer Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I dont have a preferred flavor yet (havent tried wings post op) but I have a prefered method of cooking. Its the Alton Brown method. I have noticed that it works best on never frozen wings. After breaking down the flats and the drums, steam your wings for 10 min. Dont overcrowd the pan, do it in batches if ness. The bake on a wire rack at 400 for 20 min on each side. They will come out really crispy. Toss to coat. If you use a thick sauce like bbq or teriyaki put back in the oven on broil for 1-2 min per side (watch it!) I used to prefer garlic parm which should be fairly on plan. I also have made a ranch dip using greek yogurt that came out well. I added GENEPRO but that is optional. Genepro clumpy - how to mix
ShelterDog64 replied to SOON_TO_BE_THIN's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use mine in my coffee every morning, I put my half and half in the bottom of my cup, add the GENEPRO (sprinkle the scoop over the top, don't dump it in as one clump), stir it up well with a fork, then add the coffee. I have a high-end automatic espresso machine that dispenses at about 185 degrees, so the milk does the trick If you can't or don't use milk or cream, just put a few T of Water in the cup and do the same, then add the hot beverage. Definitely DON'T add the Protein powder to cold liquid then microwave it...that's a disaster. -
Howdy - I've been reading so many mixed reviews about if GENEPRO really has 30 grams of Protein or not.....but since I have it, I am going to use what I have. People say the mix it in food and coffee. I just put a scoop in a cup of tomato Soup, and it was clumpy and nasty and I had to toss it out. Is there a trick? Do you have to dissolve it somehow before adding to hot liquid? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

How do you guys manage all the sweets?

Does the genepro have any sugar like substance at all? I don't like the fake sugar that is used either but I need more protein. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App It is TOTALLY unflavored. I only wish I had found it a long time ago. It is the very best I have ever tried. -
I've used GENEPRO for months, now on my second order (soon to be a third--great stuff!!). I can put it in anything, can't taste it and I know I've hit my Protein goals of the day. No digestive problems at all.

Tomorrow I'll make three weeks post op and I've been tracking my calories every day in MyFitnessPal. I'm consistently between 800 and 850 cals every day if I have a Protein shake in the morning. I've started using GENEPRO to cut down on the cals but recently returned to work so added a shake back in for an easy afternoon snack (keeps me away from all the muffins and crazy baked goods everyone in the office brings in all the time!) I'm getting down almost 100 grams of protein every day but feel like I'm getting way too many cals. I keep reading posts of people 3-4 weeks out struggling to get more than 400-500 cals. What am I doing wrong?! I also find that I can drink A LOT at one sitting... like over a cup. I purée Soups and stay away from other carbs.. even those approved for the purée stage like mashed potatoes and apple sauce... I'm just drinking Water, crystal light, puréed soups and protein and I'm getting almost 850 cals! Here is a screenshot of my MyFitnessPal food diary from today.. help! Note-- I ate dinner in two sittings, one at 5:30 and another at 6:30, so all that puréed Soup did not go down all at once. Also-- if I try to eat anything like refried Beans, puréed chicken or anything super rich I get extremely uncomfortable after just two bites so I'm sticking to puréed soups for the time being... Did he say that you can have Beef or Chicken Broth? If you can I would suggest BETTER THAN BOUILLON, Then they have this amazing unflavored Protein Powder called GENEPRO. It has 30 grams of protein in 1 tablespoon. I use it in my coffee all the time. If you try it get a little warm water in a cup add powder and whisk it up then add it to whatever you are drinking or eating, pudding ETC. -

3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
trekker954 replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Mexico this week for work. At the breakfast buffet, put a smidgen of refried beans on my plate. Ooooo, must be a chili in there. The guac was delicious though. I'm hoping the business lunch will have good offering of protein. I'll bring a packet of genepro with me just in case. As I progress, I notice I do get hungry if I go 3 hours without protein. At home this won't happen but on travel it does. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
