Sorry if this is tmi. I'm 4 days post op. I had a bowel movement the morning of the surgery, but nothing since. I have had 2 moments where I felt like I needed to go, but it was just gas that was difficult to pass. How long did it take you guys to have your first bowel movement after surgery ? Thank you. Had my first puréed food, somebody talk me down!
81Kellogram replied to 81Kellogram's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. This is going to be a serious learning curve. I totally get the slow progression to solid food now. Probably TMI, but right after I posted, I had diarrhea. That's not dumping is it? I didn't have nausea. -
Me too SunsetSue, I was sleeved on 12/13. scale had me +4 pounds from the morning of surgery. I was just curious, I didn't let it bother me as I feel overinflated like the Goodyear blimp. I feel like a deflating balloon today ..all the GAS! (Hope that's not too much TMI) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@ sleeveisa... that's how I feel like every time liquid goes down it hurts. I was sleeved on dec 5 and at first it was downright pain, now it's still uncomfortable but about a 4/10 pain. I was saying to myself the doc told you that the swelling plus the extremely smal diameter of your new stomach will be uncomfortable so just relax Diana.. it will get better. But I feel every liquid going down and then I feel an ache. With the weight, I have lost 9 lbs since day of surgery( 6 days ago). I feel like I wanna have a BM and nothing happens so I need to call doc to ask about miralax . I am urinating normal again. at first , sorry if this is TMI, my urine was golden and it was very loud ( odor wise).Nurse at hospital said it's because I was dehydrated and the more I'm able to drink , the more diluted my urine will become and so far she didn't lie. It is now straw yellow and there is no smell . But our body is adjusting and I know it's gonna get better for us all. My abdomen is still very sore especially my larger incision. I feel really tired also. Okay, I'm done whining, lol. On the positive side, I am drinking every 15 min 1 oz Fluid, I'm walking daily and remaining positive and no nausea as of yet. We are all gonna work this sleeve out.

So we removed the pain ball and that went really smoothly the tape being so stuck to the skin was the hardest part. However once the tape was gone the binder that has been keeping me all nice and tight keeps sliding up and down so i put a tank top on then the binder seems to help but my skin is really irritated. So here is tmi if you want to stop reading. I urinate daily and have bm's every other day they are loose and gassy. Today though i had a normal bm. That made me happy lol. It's funny how life works. I can't remember if i already mentioned the spotting but that is still happening the nurses in hospital said it is very common with female patients. Now working on creative ways to make it to 80 grams of Protein and getting in my eight cups. I got close yesterday but still working on it with out hurting my self. Anyways that is my update for those that are interested. Oh and pain is quite a bit better i am now able to shift in bed and give my back a break. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

I hope this isn't tmi, but I just had my band put in Friday, 12-9-16. The 1st day I was in a lot of pain from the gases in my chest, I was able to drink a lot though. But starting yesterday, I can barely drink small sips of water. I have to burp after every sip and still sometimes vomit white foam. I'm so thirsty but I keep throwing it up. And when I'm sleeping, I wake up choking. Is there anything I can do to fix these things? Right now I'm asking myself what have I done..any suggestions are appreciated. Last night we had a Christmas party, of course there was drinking involved. I regret having to many but what I figured out is you can't throw up. I even tried making myself and (tmi) but just liquid ran out not even dry heave or anything. I don't feel like I messed my band up but is that normal to not be able to throw up? What if you get the flu or something gets stuck? PLEASE NO NASTY COMMENTS. I know I shouldn't be drinking like that. Lesson learned LapBand ~ November 1, 2016

I have been using Premier Protein ready to drink as an option that my Dr. uses after Gastric Sleeve (Nov 9) so tomorrow will be 1 month post-op. All was well when I was home the gas has no order (sorry tmi) but the gas is horrible. I mean for hours after I drink it. And sadly I am supposed to drink 2. Now that I am back to work after two weeks I am miserable. I mean miserable. I do take 30 minutes of my lunch and walk laps hoping it will help but it does not. I see the nutritionist tomorrow and hope she can suggest something. Has anyone else ever had this issue when drinking the Premier Protein ready to drink shakes? It makes me feel bloated and just terribly uncomfortable. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You may have had more sodium. I wouldn't panic. My weight does fluctuate from time to time. Also (warning: possible Tmi) you may not have had a healthy bm. That sometimes helps. ???? Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App

Hello fellow Bypassers. This evening before my VFW Auxiliary Meeting I went to our local Rutter's Convenience Store and got the sugar free French vanilla cappachino. Figured it would be a win win for me since I am now on puréed and at that point I was hungry. I dumped for the first time today and it sucked! Hot flashes, red face, emergency running to bathroom diarrhea (sorry tmi!) and I even vomited! Did anyone else experience this with sugar free products before? TODAY IS THE BIG DAY[emoji3][emoji3]
MsShortyDee replied to MsShortyDee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes surgery went well. My crazy coworkers stopped by for a visit before the went home. My surgery wasn't done until 4:45 on Friday. My coworkers had to find my sister. They were supposed to text her. When they woke me I asked where she was. The found here. Of course I wouldn't let her leave until 1 am. I'm such a big baby. Lol. She texted my Big sis. Everything was all good until I couldn't pee. SMH. The second time that I tried pee, my wonderful nurse said should walk to the bathroom. I made a deal that I'll walk the next time. Deal agreed and I've be walking every since. Toradol and the pca were my best friends. Lol. I didn't have any of the gas. Thank goodness. My other wonderful nurse said it helped I didn't lay on my back all the time. I laid on my side more. I was sent home Saturday night. Only problem I was have was my thighs were so sore. I had to pick my legs with help. Sunday was horrible. I took a shower. It wiped me out. The meds were probably steal in my system. I slept most of the day. My sister kept on me about my liquids. I still can only drink two ounces of liquids. Every day gets better. Now if only I could done #2. TMI. WAITING for sister to bring me something MsShortyDee -

Long term regret? Doubting myself
Aggiemae replied to Didjit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started this process once 10 years ago and lost so much weight during the pre op period that I didn't go through with it. I am great at diets, my problem has always been maintenance. This time my pre prep was extensive. Also I'm in my mind 60s and losing weight, even on 1200 calories a day had become impossibly slow and tedious. I've lost 23 pounds and I am already able to walk over a mile and at the risk of TMI, I have already lost enough abdominal weight to stop peeing in my pants. My husband and I are majorities. And other that my current preference for soft food and the fact that eating g out costs half as much it really hasn't effected our social life. The refrigerator is another story as the main cook learns not to cook meals for four when Nell two people eat more than 3 oz of food. The first 10 weeks are restrictive but so far I've put it into perspective. Keep in touch. -
3 week stall
BrookeTiffani replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having that same issue right now. it is extremely discouraging. I had to talk myself down from crying in the doctors office. a few tears escaped. what happened with me was my first week follow up, i was down 22 lbs. then 2 weeks later I was only down 5 more. that was a week ago. now today, I am up 4... so TECHNICALLY I am still down 1 lb from the 1 week follow up (terrible progress in my opinion) but a gain is a gain. I was cleared to exercise today so I am hoping that will get me going again. I have upped my protein, i wasnt drinking my shakes now i force myself to drink at least 2 8oz homemade shakes to give me at least 48g every day. Also gonna start tracking calories. I've been tracking my calories and I've been consistently around 400-500 calories a day. But I know I need to get more protein and fluids in. Sometimes I think I should go back to a liquid diet but I know that this is just a phase and I do enjoy having the extra energy. TMi - I've also been quite backed up and been struggling with getting a BM. Hopefully when it happens, I'll drop the extra weight that I'm carrying around in my gut. I feel so bloated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I have thought about going back to liquid too just because thats the quickest I lost and thought maybe I should reset myself. Also I was backed up as well. My surgeon's office told me to try milk of magnesia. That worked for me and now I am pretty regular. -

New here: Surgery Date 9/19 in the DMV
Heather I replied to Aleathia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, @@Aleathia! Glad to year from you!!!!! Happy sleeving! LOL, so we each lost 6 lbs post-op! Top incision open, is that okay with doctors? Weeping, or really open? I'm doing good! I'm -45 as of yesterday, around 2.25 months out. Thanks for asking! I feel wonderful, like I never had surgery. Still sticking to the plan, now cleared for any kind of food I want. Unfortunately/fortunately, I can eat anything with little repercussion, so IDK if that's good or bad long-term for keeping weight off. I'm tracking EVERYTHING in MFP, and really quickly was able to get up to 900-1200 calories a day. I'm trying to keep it back at 1000 calories a day because my loss slowed at 1200 a day. I do 40-60 carbs a day, and if I'm at the 60 range, weight loss slows. Grrr. I'm hitting the Water goals and 100 grams of Protein goals a day no problem, but I'm still averaging 1-2 Protein shakes a day to do it. What else. . . I went from a 22 LB to squeezing almost into a 16 at LB, LOL. I'm still a solid 18 in any other store's pants since they don't usually have the spandex component. Went from a 40c to 38c, quickly nearing 36c. Sucks to lose the girls first. Not cute without a bra on to hoist them up. Pleasantly surprised at the skin -- not bad! Considering I do almost no exercise and was flabby to begin with, I think I'll do well once I get working out and doing weights and more resistance work. I've dabbled a little over the holiday with beer and white wine. I now can stomach both -- tried earlier and it hurt me. I'm not dying to drink, but it's nice to know I can be social if I want to. Thanksgiving I focused on dark turkey meat, Canadian meat stuffing (more protein,) butternut squash, green bean casserole, and saved carbs for white wine. I ignored any bread, potatoes, bread stuffing, carrots, Desserts, and cheese and crackers. It was fine, which was really nice. I hope this feeling lasts, but the times I've cracked and had "bad" food, either I had diarrhea the next day (sorry, TMI,) or -- more importantly -- didn't get the same satisfaction I thought I would from before surgery. I really am looking at food differently now. It's so hard to cram in the protein and stay under 1000 calories, there's not much left for wiggle/junk room. I look at things in terms of nutritional bang for the buck and, for the most part, don't miss the old crap I used to eat. I DID let cheese and crackers back into the house, and that was a mistake. That's my go-to quick snack when pressed for time, and I can eat a ton of crackers with no issues. Trying to learn from my old triggers and plan ahead. Now, I have a Protein shake in my daily coffee every morning, so that's 30 grams in by 7 a.m. I eat eggs with the kids; more protein. Then I'm at work and MAKE myself guzzle the 3-4 cups of water with Crystal Light, so I know I'm at least halfway to water goals by midday. lunch is usually a turkey burger with a slice of cheese or avocado on top, or else deli meat and cheese, or turkey meatballs in marinara. Late afternoon I might putter for more protein or the dreaded cheese and crackers, and then have another protein shake. dinner is whatever protein dish I can get my hands on. Life has been crazy and has only started to slow down as of yesterday. I've had no time for exercise or meal prep/planning, but I changed my work schedule (and kids' daycare/home schedule) so I can cut costs having them home with me and not have to work so much, thereby, in theory, allowing for more free time to meal plan and exercise. I really need to find non slurry protein foods I can make in advance that I can just microwave and go. I like a crunch/texture to my food, so stews and chilis are getting old. My loss has not been consistent -- at all, LOL. When I have more time I'll detail it, but honestly, it's like -5, then -.2, maybe -1.3, -.3 -- it seems very slow and spotty, but the little bits add up to a lot! I'm calming down on my paranoia about wanting to be down a million pounds in X amount of time. I am now looking at this as a great opportunity to learn about my habits/triggers and work on tweaking myself with improvement as I go on this journey. Also, seeing that I'm being compliant with food, meeting my goals, and STILL having weeks of no loss -- or sometimes even a freaking GAIN, it makes me kinder with myself on failing in the past before WLS. Granted, I'm not working out, but still -- I NEVER stuck to a low carb/high protein diet at 800-1000 calories a day with just willpower, and I see now that even being "perfect" (or pretty darn close,) I still have gains and stalls and weeks where the losses are just piddly. I guess it's just my body adjusting, doing its thing. Please keep me posted how you are doing! So glad you got your surgery in 11/11. That's wonderful! -
All I do is drink and drink .... My head is killing me I live in the bathroom... TMI I know but 8 days to go . Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning. that is all I can do

Delayed menstrual cycle?
Torriluv87 replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's common for a woman's cycle to be thrown off after surgery. I was on birth control for several years and stopped/ ran out 2 weeks before my surgery. Before wls i was only regular with my with birth control. But I've been without it about 2 months and have had my second consistent period (tmi). The first one was about a week late i think of what it should have been, but maybe 2 weeks or more after surgery. But when i stopped the pill i expected to not get one for a while since that's what always happens for me. But im going to monitor my cycles more closely now to get a feel for them post birth control. Until i find a more permanent solution. I wouldn't stress it too much if there is no way you can be pregnant. Just make sure you're getting what you need and plenty of rest. That and maybe ask your gyn if it's really worrying you. This maybe TMI but maybe someone else will learn
ppressey24 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sorry for having to write this and yes its a TMI story but since i had my surgery on the 4 of oct, i mayve had 3 bowel movements. My digestive system was already slow before i had the surgery but now its really bad. Its acting like nothing in and nothing coming out. I suffer from IBS with constipation and omg, it has gotten bad. Ive had to come to the er tonight because earlier today i had the feeling that i had to go but when i tried, i had to strain. While straining, i felt this pain in my lower right stomach, real pain like cutting pain. I only went alittle. But when i got up, there was blood everywhere. I passed out. Rushed to the hospital and they called in a gastrointestinal specialist. Now, more surgery. Theyve said that because ive had 3 c sections when i had my 2 sets of twins and 1 single that i developed idhesions that have wrapped around my bowel making it hard to do #2. So off to surgery in the am. AGAIN. Youve never met someone that just wanna poop....lol. Hopefully after this i will become regular. Ill update you guys once they put me in my room. This is another 3day stay but hey atleast ill have problem solved. Hope this wasnt to much...goodnight Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
OK SK101, you started this.... at 18 months out: Asswiping is much easier actually thinking about not just wearing dark underwear! HA! Always wore clothes too tight but now wear them looser for comfort, never worry about shrinking them in the dryer I fit in all chairs now, even those little booths at the diner, what a relief not to check out the seating before deciding to dine out... My huge 2010 SUV and giant 1999 Pickup truck both now seen really massive whereas before they seemed to shrink every year My fat legs used to keep the boys from getting crushed now always reaching down in public or private and adjusting (hey, I am an old man I can get away with it) I can see my penis when I pee, rather than rely on faith that it was still there. Ok that is enough TMI for now....

Hey guys. How do you know if you are dumping? I haven't had any other symptoms aside from (please excuse, TMI) diarrhea. Have had it today only and only two times. Is this dumping? Havent had hot flashes or nausea or racing heart. Wondering if this is just from something I ate or if I ate too much of something if that makes sense.

3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
highfunctioningfatman replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trying not to be too much TMI here but I had the fun of hemorrhoids about a month ago. Things are moving well by adding some fiber to my diet but I feel like there is some serious structural rigidity to my stool. Also toilet paper usage has gone way down...
