Yesterday, Wednesday, Dec. 25 Maintenance : 5'r" / 22mo PO RNY / 129.4 lbs ---------------------------------------- It's a Christmas "mericle" folks. This is THE first Christmas on the face of the earth where I weigh LESS the day after Christmas than I did the day of or on the days leading into the holiday massacre er, I mean festive season from Fatsgiving through Epiphany. I call it...the time of great tribulation...ha! Cuz I usually gain 5-10lbs quite quickly. But this year, I've been able to have very small shenanigans but stop myself from full-out horrific faceplants into all things yummy and food related by asking myself the simple questions: 1. Will this bite or plate of XYZ give me MORE enjoyment of this time if I ate it? 2. Is it worth the swallow? 3. Will I be disappointed in my choice tomorrow? 4. Will I be disappointed with the reading on the scale in the morning as a result of this bite or plate of food? 5. Is there a compromise or a "better option" to have the taste without the pain? 6. Is this bite/plate contributing to my health and greater well-being or contributing to my death. By the time I get to #6 and drink a glass of water, I usually go, "Meh...not so much," then walk away!!!! And the result is...I broke the 130 barrier!!! Who knew? I'm sure it won't stick the landing, lol, but still. Feels good to be 4lbs away from BDG Goal even if it is by accident! LOL. Then yesterday (Christmas), I did have a small blowout. But it wasn't enough to move the scale a bunch! Today it's back to business as usual for Thursday!!! Wooohooo! B1-3 protein lattes (3oz PP + Reddiwhip) - hell yes, talking bout you SF Peppermint Mochaccinos with Whipped Cream B2-Yogurt scrambled eggs with green onions + turkey sausage + radish browns + avo/tom salad + pears with cinnamon + lite bloody mary L1-Leftovers from B2 L2-A real bloody mary + 1/4 oz roasted salted cashews AS-Martini Bar Time: dirty martini extra olives + cheese board (3 cheese + turkey pepperoni + rosemary pecans + pear) + 1 glass of cab D-none still full BS-Halo Vanilla Sunday with rosemary pecans and SF Hershey's Choco Syrup + SF Smuckers Caramel Syrup + 1 glass of cab. Daily Totals were big for me! 1818 cals; 73g protein; 74g fat; 80g carbs; 15g fiber; 65g net carbs

How Many Ounces of Food at Four Months Gastric Sleeve?
FluffyChix replied to pghmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the day. Haha. In the early days, I ate 4-6 times per day. Now days I do a complicated rotation. It's the way I maintain my weight. This morning I was 129.4lbs--a Christmas Miracle I'm waiting to see if it sticks or not! If it does yay, if it doesn't I won't be devastated). But I'm at the bottom of a maintenance window I would not be sad to reduce by another 5 lbs to my BDG Goal = Barbie Dream Girl Goal. So it's business as usual for a Thursday for me = Meal 1: B1 - 3 protein lattes with 1oz of Premier Protein + 7 drops Vitacost Liquid Stevia + Decaff + ground cinnamon 1 cup tea (green decaff tea + Earl Grey decaff tea + 1 shot of unfiltered ACV + 1 lemon wedge + cayenne + ground cinnamon) Meal 2 (optional): B2 - I will either eat around 10-11 or I will skip if not hungry. Meal 3: L-Big Ass Salad (1 1/2-2c of salad + 2-3oz dense lean protein + 2-3tbsp Zero Cal Dressing + 1 serving healthy fat (I will eat this until full. Sometimes it's the whole thing and sometimes I finish the balance as my afternoon snack) OR Turkey Cheese Rollup with raw greens and veggies OR Green Soup OR Green Smoothie with fiber OR Can of Sardines and Raw Veggies Meal 4 (optional and regulated by hunger): AS-Either leftovers from lunch OR cup of Herb OX no sodium broth + baby greens + mushrooms OR 1 hardboiled egg OR 3-5 oz of raw veggies + 1/4c fat free Greek Yogurt Dip (Tzaziki, Ranch, Onion, Asian) Meal 5: D-3oz protein + 1-2oz veg + 1oz avo/1oz tom + 1 serving healthy fat or extra cheese Meal 6 (optional and regulated by hunger): BS-usually a decaff + 1oz Premier Protein OR 1-2oz underripe GS Apple or pear + 1tbsp nut butter OR 14g walnuts or almonds OR 1 square 90% Lindt Chocolate + 14g walnuts or almonds -

December Surgery dates???
JediMom replied to Kimmerz23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ballet was good. I was able to sit on their super plush couch which helped. I went straight home afterwards. When I get lightheaded I know it’s bc I haven’t drank enough fluids. It took 2 days of Miralax to finally have a BM. And boy was that difficult. I think I’ll continue Miralax one time daily just to keep things going. I’m barely able to get in my 64oz of fluids in. I felt it when I was walking around the store today. I had to sit down and wait while my hubby checked out. I found some PB powder to add to the protein drinks to start getting in my protein. How has your protein intake been if any lol -
Hello, check out Hospital BC with all-inclusive packages They are running a special for Mommy makeover (full body). The whole stay in Tijuana is 7 nights with transportation (to and from San Diego) meals, massages, nurses, doctors, and valets. Once you fill out a health questionnaire, the surgeon assesses your case and they give you a quote. https://hospitalbc.typeform.com/to/bYjdJ2

I talked to my insurance company, they suggested a second opinion. My current doctor is the head of bariatric surgery at BS&W hospital in Plano. So everyone there knows her. I have to go to a center of excellence, as per my insurance. All of the other doctors names they gave me know my doctor. This is a nightmare, especially right now during the holidays. I don’t want to gorge on anything, but I would love to taste some. I’m sick of knowing nothing. I just never get answers. Maybe I’m not asking the right questions. I really appreciate your input. It makes me believe I’m not crazy for being upset over this process. Thank You!

How many cc of water could you drink In one go after surgery?
JediMom replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I"m 2 days postop today. I take 2 small sips that I would estimate is about 20-30ml (about 1oz). If I sip more than that at one time I feel pressure and uncomfortable. And everything tastes so SWEET! I have Gatorade Zero and it is extremely sweet that I need to dilute it. I've also tried Crystal light and barely add any of it to an 8oz glass bc it is also super sweet. Today so far I've had about 35 oz of liquids. This was much better than yesterday. -
December Surgery dates???
JediMom replied to Kimmerz23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday. My liver was nice and small and soft and the surgery lasted less than an hour! My husband said he got scared because the surgeon came back out so quickly but heard the good news. First day was a blur and slept most of it. I got up towards the end of the night and did 2 laps around the hospital unit. I came home yesterday early evening. My labs looked great and my pain was very well controlled on Tylenol and Tramadol. I only took 3 tramadols the entire day yesterday. Sleeping on my back is difficult bc it hurts too much to sleep on the side. My back is more achey than anything else. I don't have any pain at my incision sites but I just feel really bloated and as if I had a million sit ups and am sore. I've been getting rid of gas and every hour I get up and wake around my house for a few laps. Learning how small sips and how many sips to take is the hard part. I can do 2 small sips and then have to wait at least 15 mins to do 2 more small sips. I am up 6 lbs from the day of surgery but was told that is normal based on all the swelling I have. I have an old belly band that I should try. I'm holding my stomach when I walk around the house bc it makes it easier and no pulling on my incisions. -
Great googley moogley. Your menus sound delish!! I'm in WLM at the top of my window. I honestly don't know how it happened. I made sugar free protein jello (and ate a crap ton of it leftover from a party with my support group), and that's really the only thing "bad". I had 1/2 a peach glaze (sugar) chicken leg and a large tortellini at the party. Sooo, dunno. Must be out of ketosis is all I can think of. Not too concerned but eating my clean M-Th diet. Almost 2 years post op - Starting to gain little bits at a time
Saxons replied to Nomanativ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also 2 years out, started at 266, now 190. I am 5'8 female. My goal is 170. I am stuck. Not gaining, but also not losing. I have been stuck for about 8 months. My food intake is still tiny, and my sleeve has never stretched. To be honest, I get fed up with my sleeve, and I hate eating out. I can barely fit in a side salad as a main. I get terrible symptoms of dumping eating steak, chicken or fish. That's exhausting and not very social! I am wondering if I am actually not eating enough, and I am in starvation mode. I am going to go back on to my Optifast shakes to up my protein. Maybe you should do the same? Get your metabolism fired up again? -
Well into my pre op liquid diet
jessrunge6 replied to jessrunge6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I’m 10 days post surgery and feeling stronger every day! I feel very lucky because my surgery went so well and I was up walking with no nausea and little pain. Discharged 48 hours later and working my liquids every day. My scale hasn’t budged but I honestly think it’s broken bc all my clothes are baggy and my face is way thinner. Thanks for all the encouragement!! I’m happy to finally be on the losers bench. 😀😀 -

Yesterday, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 Maintenance: 57y / F / 5'4" / 22mo PO RNY / 132.2lbs Yesterday was an IF day for me and I actually did an OMAD thing at 20 hours. I too have a 2 glass limit or it isn't pretty and very def. NOT classy. I can have more later, but it has to be over a 4-6 hour time frame well after the wine is gone. December Surgery dates???
JediMom replied to Kimmerz23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone at work told me yesterday and today that I look like I’m getting sick but I feel completely fine. I was thinking maybe bc if the 2 week liquid diet. -
I had a MGB at Hospital BC 3 weeks ago. Everything went fine. I paid $140 RT airfare, $5900 for surgery ($4600 for sleeve) I stayed in hospital all week and even had a tour of Tijuana. I did have to pay $65 for blood thinners injections to take home but that's not too bad. They picked me up from airport and brought me back to the airport. If I would've had a companion, he/she would've stayed in the same room as me bcuz they have an extra bed in there for guests. I'm thinking about using them for plastic surgery once the weight loss is done making me look fantastic. Lol

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Sheribear68 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Totally hear ya on the iron sleeve. Lol, I was eating salad within 4 weeks PO. Salad and loads of it. SMH. Anyway... here is what Friday looked like for me (disclaimer: it was vacation and we went to a really cool 3 house tour cocktail party that lasted for 3 hours) Friday am: no breakfast. Drank about 16 oz water to rehydrate from shenanigans from Thursday night. Friday lunch: 3-4 bites fried chicken, 1/2 cup slaw, 1/2 cup collard greens at a museum cafe. Friday 4:30-5:30pm. 1 large glass Chardonnay. Friday 5:45-8pm: spiked apple cider, gimlet, 1 dark and stormy (each house had a 1 cocktail/person limit) and some cheese, crackers, hard cured deli meats, 1/2 ginger snap, 1/3 chocolate brownie spread out between the different venues. Skipped the veggie platter as I judged it would take up too much room that could be used to hold alcohol. 🤣🤣 Friday night 8:30-10pm: 2 more glasses Chardonnay in our Airbnb, then bed. Zero nausea. Zero dumping. Zero hangover. Kind of scary, TBH, but I made sure that I ate small on the food bc there was no way I wanted to curb the beverages. Most days I didn’t even try to eat bf 11am though and my sleeve is still as “tight” as ever in the morning. -
Good Monday morning! ((hugs)) on the bloated tummy. My #2 train has been playing fast and loose with the train schedules. It keeps sending partial trains down the track thinking I will be fooled. But yeah...this isn't my first time conducting. LOL. So I feel ya on the hard tum! I was really good except for too much booze this weekend - until last night. We had fam over and I made our dad's meatballs and sauce, had a skinny Manhattan with orange bitters and had 2 glass of cab over the course of the evening. I have been up and down between 130.8-132. This morning I'm back at 131.4lbs. And yet...I know full well I have at least 1 more pound up north, stuck somewhere on the tracks. Let's just say with all the greens I've been eating, input is NOT anywhere equal to output. LOL. Yesterday, Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 Maintenance: 57y / F / 5'4" / 22mo PO RNY / 131.4lbs B1-Flubber Protein Frappaccino #3 (thank god it's gone!) So I was warned prior to RNY surgery to be aware of the emotional changes that come along with all the changes your body is going through. So, for the most part things have been good. No real emotional issues, supportive family. Surgery was 9-18-19. I am -62lbs. I am very proud of it. My family seems to be proud too, but my husband is like a double edged sword. He says I look good, but then complains if I ask to get a pair of jeans that fit better, or the fact that I need new underwear, or just looking at cloths in general. All of the sudden he hates every thing I say I like or really want. He says my tastes have changed... duh, Im dressing for different body size and type. I am not even in the plus sizes anymore. I am still dressing modest, not showing off skin... but seriously. I wanted a pair of boots, (western boots) he said why, you havent worn them before.... that is BS prior to gaining all of my weight I was jeans, t shirt, boots or tennis shoes all the time. Why all of the sudden is what style of cloths I like or want such a big issue? And its not just cloths... Family asking what I want for Christmas... I give suggestions then he huffs and puffs and is like ewe, why would you even like that? From patterns of dishes, to patterns on cloths, purses, shoes, wall hangings... WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG? Why is nothing I like acceptable anymore? Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm having a very hungry week. And I'm craving protein. Again with the craving protein. So I listened to my body and ate--exceeding 100g of protein which is so unusual for me. I'm wondering if it's my holiday SF Torani syrup and PP I'm having in my coffee. Normally during the week, I will mostly have black coffee sprinkled with cinnamon. But I've been having 2-4 oz of PP with SF Torani Pumpkin Spice and also Peppermint Syrup. I am still down at my low end of the window. This morning 131lbs even and suspect when I'm PP, I will be down at 130-ish. LOL. TMI sorry.

^^^^^This is truly profound. It IS a multi-factoral disease recognized by the AMA and ASMBS (sp? chemo brain catching me) and insurance board. Most bariatricians and bariatric surgeons readily admit (when asked) that this is a disease (obesity) and once MO and some say overweight not even obese, you will battle it for your entire life or suffer regain. So it's a case for us of being in a state of NED (like with my Stage 3C BC). I can never say I was cured. This surgery does not offer a cure. It offers a brief 3-5 year window to reset your body's metabolic thermostat to defend a lower set point. But the body is smart and wants to get back to the state it knows. Some studies show that the microvilli increase post RNY and DS to ease the malabsorption and take in more nutrients. All studies show as we heal, we are able to eat more and more and more volume to the point of 5 years out most of us will be eating at our pre-surgery volumes (or just about). That's why Dr. Weiner says that we should never buy into the myth of restriction and malabsorption. It's why we MUST learn new skills and behaviors with food and use the time to develop new food preferences and new gut biomes that crave more good foods than bad. So at best we are in Remission or NED (no evidence of disease). And the longer we can trick our body into staying in that state, the more chance we have of long term success. It's like pulling weeds. Pulling a couple of weeds each week? Meh. Totes doable. Weeding a 1 acre garden? Total bull crap! LOL. It will take huge effort!
