Shirley that is awesome and so funny you said this. The same thing happened to me the other day. I called my dad and was like "OMG DAD! I CAN SEE MY COLLAR BONE!" He laughed at me but was just as happy as I was. Too funny what these little NSVs can do for ya -

Let's share some NSV's - I think at times they are better than a scale Yesterday I went to the salon to get my haircut- haven't been in around 4 years. My hairdresser looked at me strangely when I got there- he said you look so different- and he looked confused.... I asked him if it could be the 100 lbs. Ge gave me a big hug, congratulated me and told me I look younger than ever

It's not lame at all. I had a similar experience. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me just not thinking. Then it hit me. Oh my, it wrapped all the way around. I was sooo excited. I pranced out into the livingroom and showed my husband. He just looked at me. I had to explain and his response was "Good". He didn't get it at all but it was still a major NSV to be celebrated. Congrats!!

This has been a great week so far! Random woman who I don't know but see most weeks at my son's swimming lesson told me I look awesome and she can really tell I am working hard! Thanks so much lady - I am working hard! Today is my birthday and my husband bought me a bunch of workout clothes - which are too big! This is not his fault I told him the size to buy- down from a tight fitting 26/28 to an 18/20! Also, the fact that I asked for workout clothes for my birthday. This morning I also wanted to treat myself to Starbucks. I had planned to order the new Salted Caramel Mocha which I tasted when my sister had one the other day. Delish! Well, when I pulled up in the drive thru they have the calories listed. NO WAY! 580 calories. No thank you! I ordered a Skinny vanilla Latte! 160 calories! It was just as delish (thats what I keep trying to tell myself anyway ) I also broke out the fall/winter clothes and shoes. Well, almost all of my shoes are too big!!! So excited - I get to go shoe shopping! WOOHOO! Hope you all enjoy your day!

So, I started out at 277 three months ago before surgery and right before 2 week pre-op diet began. I stepped on the scale this morning and for the first time in YEARS (maybe even a decade) I saw a "2" after the first 2. Just barely but it was there (229.8 to be exact). I just had to shout it out - I was really really excited to see that little old 2. Hitting a new "decade" of numbers has been my short term goal and has kept me motivated. If I think of the 90 pounds I still want to lose it seems overwhelming. I'll stick to my mini-goals and I'd encourage all my fellow bandsters to do the same. NSVs are wonderful - but for me I only "trust" the hard cold numbers on the scale. They will always tell me the truth LOL! Best of luck to all of us on our journey - I'm so happy I got the band!!!!

NSV--- my slutty thigh high school girl socks I bought in Japan now fit, and my Large men's t-shirt is roomy... oh, and i put on a swimsuit that someone gave me.. i think its a miracle suit, cuz damn.. i'm actually considering wearing it at the upcoming beach volleyball tourney!!

I was at my Lions' Club meeting last night and dinner was served. Main course was a stodgy oversize serving of lasagne with a slice of lettuce and tomato that was supposed to be a salad. I ate the salad and a lapbander sized portion of the lasagne. I had been for a 30km bike ride earlier in the day so knew I had a few calories in reserve. Then out came dessert. Usually it's fruit-based with whipped cream and I can just push the cream aside. No such luck tonight! It was a massive portion of baked egg white and sugar, aka pavlova, smothered in whipped cream and topped with chocolate. Well that just wasn't happening! Three different servers tried to place a dessert in front of me and three times I managed to say no thank you. What a relief not to have undone all the good work of my bike ride. And the roof didn't fall in just because I said no thanks to a dessert!

NSV = Non Scale Victory and Bob I think you answered your own question. "changed my diet, stopped all sodas, sugar, sweets and started the high protein diet" = all great things for the teeth. Congrats on your NSV and good look to you with the band! -

Ok, this sounds a bit crazy, but I went to the dentist this week and she was checking my gum health, you know when they assign a number for each tooth. Well, last time I had like 18 "4"s and this time I just had 4 "4"s. She said, "your whole mouth looks so much better in just 6 months. What have you been doing?" Well, I had been on my pre-op for 6 months and had changed my diet, stopped all sodas, sugar, sweets and started the high Protein diet. And I stopped all my meds about 7 weeks ago. She really thought the lap band diet had improved my teeth incredibly. Anyone else have this happen. I guess this is a NSV of sorts.

Thank you both! and YOU WILL GET THERE!!!! I'm just now really experiencing some of the great things I only read about before. I wasn't always sure I would be here and I am so thrilled. I know you both will also have wonderful experiences - NSVs and SVs!!!!
