  1. I have thrown up all three times I've had it done and my stomach is swelled shut. I'm having the worst time right now.
  2. In my experience , I don't think it really matters unless you have a huge leak if you get tested right after surgery. I passed the leak test the day after my surgery fine. after the swelling went down in my stomach after two weeks the leak that had already been there, (but was swollen shut apparently) starting making me very ill and i I had to spend the next 30 days in the hospital. . My surgeon had never had a leak before me. Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about the leak test right after surgery since your stomach is so swollen and your doctor has another method. Just be cautious and call your surgeon right away if you start having leak symptoms , especially a fever- that was my main symptom.

Help! Calories consumed vs calories burned.

I was just at the nutritionist last week and asked her that same question. She told me to stick with 800 calorie a day goal. She did suggest for me to have a Gatorade at the gym, which is hard for me because I do a low carb/sugar eating plan but because that I need the extra carbs she said during workouts. I hope that helps, I was super concerned myself before I saw her last week because sometimes my calorie intake was actually less than what I burned so I was in the negative at the end of the day. She told me for now not to worry. Good luck

Help! Calories consumed vs calories burned.

I some times burn more calories than I consume, I am at goal and still losing so I have up my carbs in the last two weeks . i would not increase anything unless you are having problems.i never increase calories based on what mfp says. I base it strictly on how I feel. Congrats on your hard work paying off!! Sorry the spreadsheet would not paste here correctly.
  6. I'm only two weeks out, and I'm already there! Pain in my left shoulder after only a tiny bit of food. I guess that pain is going to become my friend. Or...at least I'll try & see it that way

    4 Weeks Out And Stalled

I'm 4 weeks out and stalled last week at 27lbs since surgery. So I stepped up Cardio I walk about 3 miles at least 5 days out the week. I'm only able to get about 500 calories a day and about 30 grams of protein and barely any carbs. I weighed in yesterday and I'm now down 33 lbs. I was nervous too when I was stuck at 27lbs, but a lot of ppl said they experience the same around 3rd and 4th week. Keep up your cardio and once the dr releases us to exercise we'll be doing more to drop the lbs. Best wishes!
  8. I had Gastric sleeve done October 24, 2016. I am glad to say I have lost 47 lbs since my preop diet started on October 10th. Just curious what results others have had at this point and if what I have lost is about average or above average;))) TIA Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

    HEY BANDERS where are you?

I'm here. I had my 6th fill two weeks ago. I have 7.75cc in a 10cc band. I feel the restriction now. It is not what I expected so I am trying to figure out where to go from here. I see my NUT tomorrow to get more food guidance. I work out 2x a day 5 days a week---walking right now. I am planning to add some strength training it to it.

If you knew then what you know now

The main thing I was not prepared for was the "stalls". I had a one-week stall every month, starting with the infamous "3rd week stall". I wish I had known that sticking with my diet plan and exercise would eventually cause the weight to start falling again. Don't fool with diet and exercise, just keep doing what was working and it will work again. I wish I had someone to reassure me that stalls are normal and that I would eventually start losing weight again. It would have saved me a lot of stress.
  11. 4 weeks and you are still healing. I still had bad port pain when exercising even at week # 8 post op. You just have to take it easy. Are you really using your abs? I can do just about any exercise now as long as I stay away from sit-ups/core work.
  12. My surgery isn't until may 17th but I was wondering how I will do food wise after returning to work 1 week post op! Any ideas on how to prepare my meals or what I will need for the first month?
  13. Don't stock up on anything prior to surgery. What tastes good today may well not be appetizing to you after surgery. I know, I didn't follow my own advice and now have a pantry full of stuff that I will probably never eat! After surgery is pretty easy so I'd wait and see what sounds good and then just buy as you go. I'm in the pureed/mushy stage right now after having been on full liquids for the first week post op. I've found that Campbell's soups have a great variety of creamed and other soups that tase really good right now and they're easy to fix. You can adjust thinning them to match your requirements and I've even added potato flakes a couple of times to give them more substance. As little as you'll be eating just a few things will go a long way. Best of luck!

    How long does it last...

I was sleeved the 17th of jan and I'm stalled too. It's no fun. Hoping we pass this stall soon.

    newie!!

Hi all, just thought i would start a new thread. I have been researching lap bands on the internet for a week now. I am 23 and i have always suffered with my weight. I have done weight watchers, been sent to some women from the nhs who i had classes with about food and exercise, (I know it all but i just cant put it in to theory), i have tried reductil, xcenicol, none of them have ever made much difference. Im fed up of being the girl with pretty face, oh and big boobs, lol. they are a plus to my size, the only one mind. Anyway after physchin meself up i finally went the doctors today, and she agreed i have to have some tests over me periods being so irregular as in not had one for 5 months and then i have to go back to my doc and she is going to refer me, IM MADE UP. My boyf said yesterday what makes you think you will get one??? So when she agreed to get the ball rolling, i coulda kissed her!! maybe not but im made up. As far as im concerned life can only get better. sorry for so much chatting just wanted to tell some one, anyone !!! natty13 xx:biggrin::eek::mad::tongue::biggrin:
  16. I weigh my food, rather than measuring. I have 3-4 oz. Protein for each meal. 1x/day I add 1/2 cup (okay, I lied--I do measure!) nonstarchy veggies. In a couple of weeks, I'll add a serving of fruit/day, too. A couple of hours before Breakfast (I get up early!) I have a warm Protein Drink. Sometimes, at night, I have one, too. But otherwise, no Snacks most days. If I'm hungry enough to gnaw the arms off the furniture, I do grab something like a string cheese, though.

    Hiatal Hernia Question

Funny you post this I'm having the same issue...when I went for my two week post op visit I explained to the nurse about the dull pain and that's when she explained to me that the discomfort was do to my hernia repair...that was the first I even knew I had a hernia repair...it is perfectly normal according to my surgical team...
  19. I am a week and a half post op and I feel like my mouth is so dry! Its driving m e crazy...Protein drinks dry me out...juice drys me out...so I've been drinking water but it only lasts for a couple mins. Is there anything I can do for this? Is this normal after surgery?

    Relationship with Spouse

Add me to the November anniversaries! Three years come Nov 8. It was our dating anniversary and seemed natural to keep it. Plus it was a Wednesday and the local judge only married people on Wednesdays. Lucky for us!

    News Story

Hmmmm, I really don't know about 70 lbs in 3 weeks. That's very unlikely. 3 months, perhaps. Can you check in the next few days to see if they run a correction? The doctor will be flooded with questions from people who think that could happen for them. And while it's certainly nice to see an article about the band, I hat this sort of thing: "It's similar to gastric bypass, but without the cutting, stapling and intestinal re-routing." Um, OK, so how exactly is it similar? Duh...

    Scheduled for June 10th!

I know what you mean about the Metformin! It took my digestive system 2 weeks to get used to it and not camp near a toilet! I stopped taking meds about 2 days before surgery and haven't taken any since. I'm probably going to start taking metformin again as soon as I'm on the soft foods stage of my post op. good luck with your pre-op! I'd like to say post-op is easier, but it's ALMOST just as bad. My eyes want everything in sight but I have 4 spoonfuls of soup/pudding/whatever and I'm FULL. Which is a great feeling. I only lost 5 lbs on the pre-op diet but I've lost 18 more since surgery. It's worth EVERY penny. Good luck! Think skinny thoughts!
  24. Also, unless you are in the buff around your dog, and no bandages over the incisions I don't see where they would bother it (other than potentially jumping on you). I have 2 dogs that were my couch companions for the week I was home and recovering. For the first week I had a clear (fully sealed) bandage around each incision and under that guaze and steristrips covering them, plus my clothes. They are all healing nicely. My dogs both were sniffing my shirt though as they knew something was amiss.
  25. I am close to 4 weeks post op and I have been out several times. We did a Chinese buffet and I had a bowl of Egg drop Soup, and took half of it home in a container for lunch the next day. I went with a group to a Mexican restaurant and ordered a single side serving of refried Beans. We went to a Chili's and I ordered a bowl of Tortilla soup and asked for mostly the broth, which is all I ate. I haven't had any problems finding something to order, and I don't mind sitting with others that are eating a full meal. I also know that soon enough I will be ordering appetizers or Entrees along with them... and getting several meals worth from mine! I am very comfortable for now saying " I just want a bowl of Egg drop soup".
