Awesome! If you are looking for bang for your buck, go with Premiere Protein shakes or added protein Greek yogurt. Much better protein content. -
On day 10 of 14, and I've felt weak the last couple days. Part of this is probably due to overexerting myself this weekend as I helped my father with logsplitting. Lots of bending up and down and heavy lifting Saturday. (I do notice feeling a bit lightheaded on the diet while getting up quickly.) Anyone else experience similar syndromes? My stools have often been loose the last few days too. My pre-op diet allows lean Proteins and veggies, with limited fruit and nonfat Greek yogurt. Targeting 800-1000 calories daily. On most days I hit at least 100 grams of Protein.

@@LipstickLady I'm not looking for it as a treat I was just looking at the nutritional content of it and instead of having the frozen yogurt I bought that I'm not tempted by it at all I'm on my purée phase I'm down 23 lbs and I have self control ,it was just a healthier option for me being that I'm a diabetic that's all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was allowed Greek yogurt with no fruit. I would suggest Oikos Greek 10 10 10 in drinkable form to start. They have them in several flavors and help with your Protein. Not high in carbs either. Drink slowly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

So I am 8 days post op and tomorrow I go to get my staples out and I cant wait! I feel like its just one more step getting me back to normal. I started my Vitamins today and ehh they are awful. i ended up grinding it up and putting it in my 2 tbsp of yogurt I had for dinner worked so much better than eating it by itself. I got the Bariatric Choice all in one multi its amazing I have to eat it 4 times a day but thats all i have to take it covers everything.Ive been craving mashed sweet potatoes (like the thanksgiving kind with brown sugar and marshmallows) so bad i may make some tomorrow. Anyhoo just wanted to share..I hope everyone has a wonderful night! Sent from my LGUS991 using the BariatricPal App

They gave me yogurt in the hospital the day after my sleeve surgery smooth no fruit lumps I ate one teaspoon I was terrified of what the outcome would be but stick to what your surgeon and NUT say Sent from my iPhone -
I was sleeved on October 3rd. I was restricted to liquids for 1 week. Beginning 2nd week, I could begin soft foods like yogurt, eggs, fish, soft vegetables. 3rd week my diet opened up quite a bit more and now I am on an unrestricted diet. I have had zero issues with Fluid (I probably get in two to three times what I am required to drink daily). Now back to your original question, I recommend to try Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt (has the least amount of sugar and good Protein content) and mix a scoop of unflavored protein in with it. I really like the All Max brand due to it being one of the most pure Proteins on the market with no "fillers". As suggested by another poster, broth with a scoop of protein works great too...add a couple spoonfuls of unflavored Greek yogurt to give it a cream like texture/taste. My doc said that some people, for whatever reason, have trouble drinking Water and indicated that patients indicate that it "feels to heavy". I haven't experienced this, but he did say that to try alkaline based waters like Smart Water etc to find one that works...I drink a ton of Powerade zero and decaffeinated tea. I would certainly try the Powerade zero and see if that helps with getting liquids in. Hope some of this helps Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Halo Top ice cream
highfunctioningfatman replied to kris2100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I definitely think if you *know* it's a problem food, to skip it. But there are people who didn't live for ice cream (I am NOT one of them, thankyouverymuch! I'd cut you for Ben and Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk) who could eat something like Halo Top and do fine. It's really not much different than a yogurt, which I can eat without going overboard. I dunno, I guess in my newbie brain, I hope to be able to eat most normal things in moderation and have a bite or 2 of the 'better' version of an old favorite, like a little high-Protein Pasta or low-carb tortillas instead of my old flour friends. I may be wrong, of course! I agree 100% on not giving up on all of the wonderful foods out there. My point was that at 2 weeks out it would be very difficult to not start that as a habit that could go bad quickly. -
I didn't really think it was a bad choice I was looking at the froze. Yogurts and some of the soy frozen yogurts and they had a higher sugar content so thanks for your input high functioning fat man Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Slowing weight loss on purpose?
Djmohr replied to RJrocks's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
False statement? I hate to sound mean, but you have a reading comprehension problem. I never said there weren't other causes, I just mentioned that a lack of protein can cause problems. Instead of calling me a liar, you might do some web searches on the subject of hair loss and protein. How your body reacts to surgery relates to your case, but their are others who would have done better had they followed the recommended diet plans. No where did she call you a liar.....at least I certainly did not see it or read it. you have to remember that many many people read these posts. The concern is that they get all of the information and your statement only gave a small portion of the picture. Also.....There are many on this board that would argue about getting 70 grams of protein from the very beginning. 1 shake in a day can give you 30 grams all by itself. And yes, dense meats will give you great protein but so will Beans, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, luncheon meat, etc..... Maybe the first week or two is difficult but after that you should be able to get to your goal every day. Not getting your protein should not be the reason your hair falls out. there are several other reasons or any combination of them that can cause this. I am just trying to clear this up for people who may not know or understand. I know there are alot because the hair issue comes up several times a week and there are probably 1000's of posts on the subject. -
Everyones body adjusts along the way. Most surgeons provide a approved diet that goes up in quantity as time passes. For me from about 1 - 3 months it was 1/4cup of food which filled me up completely. I remember i could use one yogurt for 3 meals. Then around 3-7 months it was 1/2 cup and again, that kept me very full for many hours if i was eating the right things. from 7 months on i was approved to eat about 1 cup of food. Now it really all depends on what your eating. I can eat 1 1/2 cups of salad depending on what Protein i add on top. It might be less if it is dense chicken breast. It is normal but i would not advance it until you are told it is ok to do so. I think the most i can eat now is about 1 cup of dense foods and 1 1/2 cups of things like salad. Also, you will find slider foods......for me things like pudding and yogurt will fill me up but empty from my pouch very quickly making me hungry again sooner. I find this is true of some broth like Soups. But stews with dense protein like beef or chicken and veggies wills stay with me for hours. It is usually my head telling me i am hungry long before my tummy does.

I was also allowed fit lite Greek yogurt no fruit during both my pre-op and post-op full liquid stages. I don't consider that cheating. Keep up the good work. You will get past this stage. Today is my first day on my pureed stage. OMG food tasted so good. I have waited a month It was worth it!!! Sent from my LGLS996 using the BariatricPal App -

I wouldn't worry about the pounds lost, more about making a decision to be healthier. The weight loss depends on a multitude of factors. I am also diabetic and was just sleeved on 10/7, my bmi was in the low 50s day of surgery. Prior to surgery day, I did a 1000 calorie diet for 12 days (only required to do 10). And I lost 10 lbs during That time. On the low cal diet, I tried to incorporate shakes into some of my meals for a couple reasons 1. To get used to it and 2. To try different brands. I ate a lot of egg white veggie omelets, grilled chicken, low fat low salt turkey lunch meat, part skim mozzarella cheese sticks, lots of veggies and I made my own shakes with low fat Greek yogurt, ground flaxseed, and fruit. I also made spaghetti squash with 2-3 oz of grilled chicken, 1 tsp olive oil, spinach onions and tomatoes and topped with 1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese. The main thing my nutritionist told me during those days was to make sure I was getting my Protein and Water and separating my eating and drinking by 30 minutes. I have lost 22 pounds since my surgery day. I have been taken off my high blood pressure and glipizide pills day of surgery and my insulin has been cut in half. I hope with continued hard work, I will eventually be able to be off my insulin completely. Best thing to do is to follow your nutrition plan pre and post surgery. When is your surgery day?
