    One year anniversary!

I was banded a year ago March 23rd and I am down 112 pounds! (From 264 to 152.) I have gone from a size 18/20 to a size 8! I crave and want food normally, but am full much quicker. My restriction seems to go from not enough to too much from day-to-day. It is still a learning process as to how to eat successfully every time. Every time I think I want to call and get an unfill because I can hardly eat, I have a day where I feel like a bottomless pit. Also, I am now 10 weeks pregnant with baby #2!!!

    I am bumming out

It sounds as though you hit the normal three-week stall, so no worries there. I'm a little confused--when you say you eat "4 ounces of protein at least" do you mean at one time? That seems like a lot at once for as relatively early as you are in the process. Are you meeting the water goals? I would not stress over meeting an arbitrary weight loss goal; focus more on the big four goals (per my surgeon): water, protein, vitamins, and exercise. Is there a reason you are not taking vitamins? They really are essential for WLS recipients--we can't get enough of what we need through our very limited diets at this point. Good luck!

    Acid reflux and banding

I had reflux for 20 years before my banding. When my band was placed, they did a repair to my hiatal hernia. Since banding, three plus years now, I've only had reflux when my band was filled too tight. I don't take any daily acid medication anymore. Feels great after all those years!

    2 WEEKS POST-OP

Thanks for updating, I have been wondering about you. It's interesting how everyone is different. I can't stand room temp. things. I like my drinks and Protein shakes cold with ice and they go down so much better for me! I like my Soup warm. If you still have trouble getting liquids in I would still suggest going and getting fluids. I had 2 bags a week ago and ever since then I have felt wonderful and have been able to get in all my liquids and Protein Shakes. Take care and keep us updated.

    Oh My....

Okay I can't wait until I get my first fill!!! I really ate TOO much over the weekend!! I ate soul food on Saturday and a bite or two of cake, then I ate a tiny slice of pizza. On yesterday I ate three tacos, potato salad, baked beans, hot link, slice of chocolate chip cheese cake and a few bites of a cherry cheese cake. I was really BADD!!! But it was GOOD!!! Okay today I have already eaten a grab bag of sour cream Ruffles 400 calories!! My May goal is really looking unreachable...I need to lose 12:cry :cry pounds by May 31st! :heh: :heh: I'm going to try my best to meet it!!!! Be blessed

    Are revisers different?

I had my band in 01/05 and to me it was very painful the first 4 days. I have a very low tolerance for pain. I had my revision on 12/20/13 and it was painless, hardly any pain, I was a little tender on left side for abt two to three days. I was really nervous abt the pAin w the sleeve. I had watch several u tube videos..some said no pain and others said worst pain in their life. So I wasn't really sure what to think. I was really scared but went ahead with it. When I came to I couldn't believe that it didn't hurt. I was pleasantly surprised and oh so relieved. No my only problems was EXTREME nausea and Diarrhea... My diarrhea has stop and the nausea not quiet as bad. Good luck in your venture

    Got my date - 11/18

Jessiquoi sounds like your having what like to call a day from hell hope things improve for u a few short weeks will probably go fast I feel the frustration tho and I sympathize thought I was going in dec but was told yesterday no probly won't even see surgeon until just before or just after Xmass it's so disapointing everything takes so long to get done
  9. i wish i could say i'm excited, but i'm just disappointed that it's not for another three weeks when just three weeks ago they told me probably 10/21 or 10/28. well, i'm also in the middle of a horrific insulin attack (low blood sugar) and dealing with multiple production problems at work, so it ain't the best day. yay
  10. I had my very first mushy meal a few minutes ago and I'm wondering if it was more than it should have been. I had 1/2 cup of egg salad and one of those cottage cheese doubles w/peaches. I'm guessing that was about 1/2 cup as well. I was hungry after the egg salad and by the time I was done with the cottage cheese, I felt more satisfied. I could have eaten a little more but decided not to push it. I'm wondering if this was a huge amount to eat 4 weeks out. I haven't had a fill yet so probably don't have much restriction. My head is playing games with me and I'm feeling guilty as if I ate too much (the way I felt before the surgery). Any thoughts?? :confused2:
  11. That sucks you live so far away! I added you as a friend so we can keep in contact....I have so many appts. set in march...start my 2 week, 1000 cal liquid diet on 3/10, should be fun!

    Still In Stall!

I was sleeved on May 30th and have been in a stall for almost four weeks! I was taking it pretty well for the first 3 weeks but now I am frustrated and concerned and disgusted and angry. I am trying to be more patient and I know the weight will come off eventually. It is just a frustrating thing to see no movement in the scale for so long!

    Constipation!:(:(:(

They all take up to 72 hours to help. Miralax works pretty well for the immediate situation. After a really, really bad time during my first two weeks out, I started taking psyllium husk capsules twice a day (Fiber Therapy at Walmart). Haven't had a problem since. Work on getting your 64+ oz of fluids in every day. That's very important in controlling constipation too! All the products I researched seem to work by making your "stuff" absorb Water, making them softer and easier to pass. So the more water you drink, the better. Okay, I just grossed myself out so I'm signing off. Good luck!

    Anyone with RLS out there?

I quit my RLS meds the night before surgery. After surgery, thanks to the Oxy, I slept like a rock ! I didn't know sleep could be that peaceful! I'm only 3 weeks out (and off the Oxy for 2 1/2 weeks) ... Just starting to get the restlessness back now. I've been off all meds since surgery. I used Mirapex & Vistaril before. 17. Was thinking about non scale victories the other day while on my thinking chair...yup, the toilet and it dawned on me. My best NSV so far is fitting in a regular stall... No more having to use the handicap stalls for me. I can "think" like the regular folks in the tiny stalls that are everywhere. No longer do I have to wait just because someone else is in the big stall. It's the little pleasures like this that make me thankful for making the decision I did. Funny NSV..

@@bdejong, you're absolutely correct about that -- it's funny. Funny and swe-e-eet, Now you can roller skate around in the larger stalls. @@4MRB4PHOTO is ever observant with or without his periscope. Everyone, take note of who else is hanging around the public facilities before you go into the booth.

    Failure

I totally know EXACTLY what your going through with your DD. My Mom herself said those same words to me not just once but three times befroe the surgery. I would say" I sure hope I can do this, Some folks can't & they have a rejection or gain there weight back." than she would say" well - thats no attitude to have if you have this you better succeed. Why go through the surgery & than fail at it?" I told her I didn't want to fail but that there was a chance. It still didn't sink in with her. She also said "If you can't get through the liquid stage -what makes you think you can get through the next stage?" I told her smiling" With your wonderful support!" You know your DD Loves you & is only wanting the best for you. He is probably only afraid that you may be upset if it doesn't go smoothly for you. Just tell him positive re-enforcement is all you need from this point on. I am sure he'll get the picture. If he doesn't than tell him you really don't wish to discuss the diet with him anymore & think it will be helpful if you talk about other things instead. Either way you are a success story because you are trying everyday to walk that road of improvement! Be proud of yourself & keep moving forward. One day everything will change from the inside out. By the way your plan sounds right on track-you'll do it & do it very well!!!

    Failure

Margo I went through the same thing. When I saw my doctor before the surgery he was disappointed that I had only lost 5 pounds. Which I was very happy that I anything. I got it together and focused on one meal a day. I learned a lot about myself during that time. There is a lot more in life you have to deal with when you don't have food to fall back on. As I kept running into life's little struggles I would ask, am I really going to have this surgery. I don't think I shnould do it. Anyhow I did and I now I say periodically "What Have I Done". But I also say " I lost 6 pounds, I lost 1 pound, I lost 3 pounds, my clothes fit better, I can do this. Margo you can do it and no it is not always easy but what is. Get one thing out of your closet or drawer that fits tight right now. Try it on every 2 weeks and it will make the process just a little easier.

One Day I Can Eat..the Next I Cant

I don't have the PBing issue but for about the past week, I have one day where I feel like I could eat anything and everything (b/c I am so hungry). Then a couple days later, I can barely get in 800-1000 calories. I have an appt next week.

    Swallowing Pills

I had no restrictions on pills at all and they had me taking them within a couple hours after surgery. I wasn’t allowed to take more than 1 at once and had to wait 15 min in between. Within a week I was able to take multiples at once without issues. Before surgery I did not have any issues with pills and could take 4-5 at a time. So it may vary individually. Each surgeon has their own programs and rules to follow and I’ve seen many differences on here with meds.
