I was allowed lemon juice or vinegar. I was also encouraged to have a spoonful of Greek yogurt daily. I mixed the yogurt and lemon juice together and it was awesome!

3 weeks out, food volume?
heidikat72 replied to Crafty-in-Carolina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Don't rely on "full signals". Stick to measurements suggested on your plan. On purees, my guideline was 2oz. 2. Focus on protein - while cauliflower is better than potatoes carb-wise, you still aren't really getting any protein and pureed cauliflower probably won't have you feeling as sated as a protein based puree will. I know the idea of pureed meat can be off-putting. For me, the idea of pureed chicken salad or tuna salad was a little easier than the thought of just pureeing meat and stock. So my go to's were chicken or a pouch of tuna or a pouch of salmon pureed with a little nonfat plain greek yogurt - the flavored tuna and salmon pouches were great for this! -

1200 calories still seems high for 1 month out. Are you sticking to the amounts recommended on your plan? It is super important to weigh and measure early out. Just because you can eat more, doesn't mean you should. I just looked back in my diary on MyFitnessPal and at 6 weeks out I was around 525 calories a day which included: half a carton of dannon light and fit yogurt for breakfast, 2 oz turkey and a low fat string cheese for lunch (with a tsp yellow mustard), 2 oz fish or chicken and maybe 1oz soft veggies for dinner, and a Protein shake made with 1 cup fairlife skim milk for a snack. Totaling 73 grams of protein a day and getting 56-64oz of fluids a day. -
Hi everyone. I'm almost a month post sleeve and have found a couple recipes for chicken I really enjoy. 1) Huli Huli Chicken (Hawaiian), the healthy way: Mix together in a bowl make the marinade: 1/3 cup sugar free peach or apricot preserves 1/3 cup low sugar ketchup 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce 1/4 cup sherry 1 tsp minced garlic 1tsp minced or grated ginger Remove the skin from 4-6 chicken bone-in thighs. Put the skinless thighs in a large ziplock bag along with most of the above marinade. Reserve a bit for basting. Put in the fridge for 1-4 hours. Heat oven to 375. Remove thighs from marinade (do not discard marinade) and place in an oven safe dish and cover with foil. Cook until just done and cooked through but not dry, approximately 20-25 min. Remove the foil and add the marinade, cover with foil and let it sit for another 30 min. Fire up the grill. Grill the thighs to warm and give char marks. It won't take long since they are already cooked. Baste while grilling with the left over marinade. The original recipe calls for brown sugar and pineapple juice. I use the peach or apricot sugar free preserves instead. Sprinkle with green onions if desired. 2) Easy, healthy chicken salad Take a cup of cooked chicken, remove all skin and bones, and put it into a food processor. Pulverize well. Add 1/3 cup of plain, non fat greek yogurt, mix well. Add bacon crumbles to the top before eating if desired. Sorry no pic, but it's yummy! And I find it goes down better than a lot of other chicken.

My sleeve seems to be healing fast and just really tolerating food fine. I usually have yogurt for Breakfast, a premier Protein shake in then chili or some kind of soft meat, Beans for lunch And similar for dinner. I will also have protein based Snacks like cheese or cottage cheese and sometimes a little veggies. I should probably not snack so much :/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Try it again in a few weeks. I often make a "dip" out of plain nonfat greek yogurt and some herbs or even pesto. Dipping the chicken in a little of this as I eat it helps it go down for me. If I don't feel like a yogurt dip, I use a little plain yellow mustard - very low cal/low carb but it seem to help with drier dense meats like chicken

Here's a way I eat chicken that sits well: Put some pieces into a food processor and pulverize the hell out of it. Then add some non fat plain greek yogurt and mix. This works for me and is very high protein!

@, great recipes! I wish I had know about them when I was on full liquids! Anything that tastes like cheesecake is a win for me. @@TanishaP, Beyond my Protein shakes, I ate Oikos triple Zero yogurt, and strained Soups. My favorite was (and still is) Tomato Basic Bisque (strained). I wasn't very creative in that stage.

For Breakfast everyday for the almost the entire last three months has been cream of wheat. I can't get enough of it in the mornings. Snack I have a Protein shake, lunch a yogurt/protein bar/cheese and crackers/or whatever I have left over from the previous nights dinner. I get creative with dinner and rely heavily on pinterest for healthy ideas. A lot of slow cooker recipes. Chilli, zoodles and a mearball, chicken and zucchini stir fry, baked chicken, chicken salad, you name it. Of course Im always mindful of getting my protein in with each meal and I'm in love with the flavor packets from walmart since I can't do plain Water anymore. Iced tea with lemon, everytime I go I get atleast 10 boxes because it's all my wife and I drink. This has been a good week. Down to 290lbs as of this morning. Loving my sleeve and loving life!! Halo Top ice cream
OutsideMatchInside replied to kris2100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ I have been buying Halo Top for months. A pint lasts me, 6-8 weeks. I never finish one, I end up tossing them. I weigh my portion and I have 1/2 a portion about a time, so about 35-40 calories a pop. I don't like ice cream so its not an issue to me. If I ever went nuts and ate a whole container, the whole thing is 240 calories, I struggle to get enough calories every day anyway so it wouldn't matter to me. The macros and ingredients make sense to me, and I like it. I haven't had any in about 3 months because I kept wasting it but I think its a great option. And the macros are better than most of the yogurts that people eat on here. Also with all the people that are eating pulled pork in BBQ sauce and other things. And lets not forget the trash macros of PB2. And @@Clementine Sky is right. The consistency, taste and a lot of other things about it make is basically impossible to just graze on or munch on or over eat. It takes a little work, it isn't like normal ice cream even though it tastes like normal ice cream. If I liked ice cream or had an issue with ice cream I would probably skip it. But I like having it now and then with my Protein brownies just to soften them up and for a change of pace because IMO, the fastest way to get off track of boredom with your food. -

In my program everything that a spoon can't stand up in is a liquid, so yogurt may not be a cheat at all depending on what the OP has been told. I am surprised that people don't pay more attention, have a list of approved foods on the fridge, and go shopping before the surgery. My surgery is next Monday and you better believe I am going to stock up on everything I am allowed to eat. Even if I don't feel hungry I know I am going to be weak and shaky with such a low amount of calories going in. I know I am going to have to take it slow but you better believe I am going to try anything and everything my team says is okay as soon as they say it's okay. -
Update on OCt sleevers.....
The New Kel replied to ppressey24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved October 3, and so far, I'm doing well. I am on soft foods (my NUT and surgeon let me pass the puree stage). I have had nausea with Protein drinks, so what I do first thing in the morning now is take my Pepcid and the medication that my surgeon gave me that says "take 15 minutes before meals" which reduces nausea. Then I attempt a Protein shake for Breakfast so that I am off to a good start first thing: 30g protein. Some days I just can't stomach it. For meals, I now eat things like rotisserie chicken, sashimi, tuna, greek yogurt, low fat cheese and deli meats. Tonight, I am making the WLS famous "Ricotta Bake" and also making a new recipe "Huli Chicken", a Hawaiian specialty. I substitute sugar free apricot preserves for the brown sugar, so it's really healthy. Occasionally, I get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and upper stomach after eating. Its usually when I eat too fast. I am now doing cardio (elliptic) 3-4 days a week. I was OK'ed for this on my two week f/u. I love it! I sleep like baby, and wake up refreshed! Better than before surgery. I'm only weighing myself every three days, otherwise I'd go crazy. HW: 239 Weight on day I started two week pre-op diet: Sept 19, 2016: 236 SW: Oct 3, 2016 219 Current: 206 -
Hi! I'm 2.5 weeks post op from my bypass and 3 days post op from my complication surgery. Today is just one of those days where I haven't wanted to drink any Water and don't have the urge to eat at all! Does anyone else experience these "bad days" I had NO desire to drink a Protein shake tonight so I'm having a yogurt instead? I guess it's better than nothing I really need some motivation to keep going and not let this bring me down! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@melliecat I was sleeved a week ago and just allowed mushy food today. I have had scrambled eggs with cheese (very scrambled and apple sauce consistency) and refried black beans with melted cheese and a little sour cream. I also bought greek yogurt (low sugar), broccoli soup (Panera) that I'll blend so no chunks, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (for ricotta bake), and butternut squash. I only ate very small amounts of eggs and beans but they tasted damn good and were tolerated. I bought Centrum Chewable Multi-Vitamin in Berry flavor that weren't bad (hated the smell of the orange ones). I have been drinking Powerade Zero, Iced Tea (Decaf), Hot tea, water, Vitamin Water Zero. I've had a hard time with protein shakes. I just ordered unflavored protein powder to add to food or drinks.

I was allowed lite yogurts an Greek lite as long as no lumps from post op day one. I did fine. Was the best part of the liquid diet...I did add milk to make the Greek go down smoother for the first week. That was not my drs order though, was my choice. I use the patch Vitamins so no pills or chewables. For liquids phase I pinned a ton of Soup recipes and pretty much tried to make my own. I added an unflavored Protein powder to them to up the protein content. I'm now on purees/soft. I like cottage cheese and I've pureed frozen mixed fruit to add to it to sweeten them up. a lot of people do yogurt (I don't like it so i've avoided it). on my plan you can do runny cereals (like cream of wheat) or baby food cereals on full liquids but it didn't appeal to me so i stuck to Soups. i find eggs are good at this stage and Beans. I'm loving hummus right now.

I know it's not a creamy soup, but I've enjoyed miso quite a bit. I keep Edward & Sons brand on hand. Go for the low sodium kind. To make a creamy soup, I've found adding Greek yogurt and Smash (potato flakes if you're not in the UK,) to a good broth make for a satisfying soup. I'm not yet ready for my beloved potato leek or cream of broccoli soups! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
