What? No NSVs since August??? I know we've had some - come on and share, guys! It helps to keep me motivated, too! But here's MINE for today. I went shopping at Target for some new jeans because mine are hanging off my butt (14s). I thought I'd put on some 12s and have them be tight, but at least I'd be a 12. I put them on REALLY easily. It was strange because I thought, "These seem a little loose - they're not going to last me very long. Maybe I'll just get 10s instead so that I'm not wasting money." So I grabbed some 10s and tried them on, thinking I'd be struggling and sucking in and pulling really hard. OMG...NO...the things went on really easy. Buttoned and very comfortable! I'm a freaking 10! I'm almost positive I was not a 10 this early in the game the last time I lost weight down to this size!!! So then I thought it had to just be the designer of the jeans - fudging me on the size to make people feel better. So I went over and grabbed some 30s in men's (I wear men's pants for work) because I need some new work pants. They went on, too! They were a little bit more snug in the butt than the women's jeans were. I guess, because we all know, men don't have booties. LOL But I bet by next weekend I'll be proudly sporting my 30's to work! OMG...either clothes have gotten bigger, or my body is proportioned a lot differently than it was when I was 17. I SWEAR I did not get into 10's until I was in the 150's. And I KNOW I'm still in the 170's. I'm just so excited. :rolleyes2: I'm REALLY starting to feel skinny again. I love it. I'm so excited to get to wear my jeans somewhere. Funny thing is, I bet by the time I go out to see my family in December, I might have to go buy some 8's!!

I had a great NSV for me this afternoon. I was getting groceries out of my car and my next door neighbor asks me if my dad is home as he would like to talk to him,,, I turn and look at him and say, Uhhhmm you mean my husband? He stammers and then says Sorry, I thought it was your daughter, and WOW you have lost alot of weight haven't you? With a great big smile I said yes, thank you... I then got my dad for him,,err I mean husband,,hehehehehhe :-D

I NEEDED new jeans. My wife forced me to buy some. She said I was swimming in the 46 jeans I had. While at Tractor Supply the other day, I noticed their clothing area. I have never even shopped there because I figured the clothes would just be for skinny little bull riders and other cow-pokes. To my surprise, I was checking out the Wrangler section and they had some jeans that went up to WAY past where I am now. I guess it is for the farmers that are getting on up there in age and size! I find a section of Wranglers that are relaxed fit and they don't have 44x32's like I would like to wear. Only 30" inseam... high-waders on my 6' plus frame. I noticed that they had some 42x32's and I grabed a pair of those to just try on and see how far away I am from them. Well, the reason I was swimming around in the 46 jeans is because the 42's FIT. I can't believe it, but they do fit. WOOO HOOO!!! I can buy 42x32's at pretty much any store. I no longer have to go to the big and tall stores or resort to the el-cheapo Wally world jeans! Another NSV happened twice this week. I had 2 people not recognize me. One I saw at Tractor Supply while buying these pants. I used to work with this guy. Naturally we spent a lot of time together. That was just 8 months ago. I said something off the wall that made him know I knew him and he just gave me this BIG blank stare. Ya know, like a cow looking at a new gate... that kind of stare. Then he slowly said, "Craig... Is that you?" OH happy week!

Ok..here is mine. My pants fell down at the store today. I laughed, pulled them up and said I think it is time for some new clothes. I have gone from a size 34 to a size 26 and am almost in a size 24. I have hit all the smallest sizes in the closet. I am 2lbs away from reaching 50% of my weight loss goal of 179lbs. I guess to many NSV's lately. It is what keeps me going. Cindy

I wanted to ask what NSV stand for if you do not mind....LOL I am imagining it is noticeible wieght changes. I have gone down two pant sizes and am wearing shirts I have not had on in a very long time. Woo Hoo so exciting. I actually have size 16 clothes in my closet because I had gotten down that small before this last huge wieght gain I did over 2 1/2 years. I am excited about wearing them again.......and even surpassing that size in a year. COngratulations to us all for our huge achievements already!!

    SMH

I’m also sorry to have offended you. I hope you don’t think that we don’t care or we roll our eyes (or in my case SMH) at every OP’s post, but perspective does come with experience. Like I said to the other gal, I hope you come back and participate because it’s truly a NSV to relate to this thread. Much love! ❤️

    This is weird

When I started I wasn't wearing jeans because my 24s no longer fit and I refused to venture any further than that. Now I'm in baggy size 12 jeans, from F21 of all places. But I don't understand it. Obviously the way weight loss works is you lose weight and clothes fit differently yadda yadda but, it's just so weird to me. I guess it's an nsv in a way right? I don't feel like I should be in anyones 12 much less them be baggy. What am I to do when the 12 is too big??? It's a great feeling to know that I fit into clothes or that I don't for a good reason. But I still don't feel like I belong in the "skinny:" side. I still have that feeling that an associate will come up to me and point me towards the plus sized section. Mental weight loss is a real b***h!

    Nsv For Me

That's a pretty great NSV! I can't wait for a day when my doc would say somethin' to me like that, lol. scales are all different. My home scale vs my doctors scale vs the one at the gym. My home scale is the one I go with, since I can use it more often (and do, sadly), I should just chuck that one and go with the one at the gym that does %'s too, lol. Congrats!

    My first NSV!

Great NSV's! Those inches are better than pounds!
  11. Hi everyone--between finishing up the last of the leaves, my walks, Curves, and an additional walk to and from Church this morning, I made my weekend count!! Actually I should get extra credit---like an attagirl--for walking to church this morning, I had my granddaughter--and heels!!! It was an NSV for sure!!! I truly would like to be in Onederland by the first of the year, but to be very honest, I am not sweating it. Part of the reason I chose the band over other options, was so that I could live a normal life. One of the reasons all my previous diets failed, was a feeling of deprivation. My warped mind goes berserk as soon as I tell it I cannot have something! I want to be able to eat Thanksgiving dinner, and have pie afterwards, and not feel like a failure for doing so. This next 6 weeks IS going to be a challenge, in many ways. We have family obligations, Christmas to buy following several months of my DH being off of work, traditions we really want to uphold, goodness the list goes on....I will truly be trying to continue my exercise. I want to get to Curves 3-4 times a week, and try to walk on a daily basis. I will also make a serious attempt to keep my water intake high. But I am being totally honest here---with you guys, and with myself...I am not going to worry too much with the food I eat. I intend on enjoying the family dinners, and the treats of the season. Thank heavens I have my little band buddy---it WILL keep me in check...I mean 3 bites of a piece of pecan pie is nothing like the 3 different desserts (full portion) I would eat prior to banding! I am sure my numbers as far as weight loss will slow down, but I can do without the added stress of worrying about that! I want to celebrate. I feel like my DH and I were given another chance! The week after Christmas, as all settles back down, and the family and friend get togethers slow down---I will too, and will get myself back on track, and make the best choices I can. I have no intention of ignoring the turkey, and making my meal on sweets....I just do not want to think about it for now. Some of these habits are now ingrained enough I know I will do it automatically--and I will be thrilled with that!!! I have my husband back healthy, my kids are well and happy, I have regained my own health....I want to party with the entire world!!! Susan--you say you upped your work out...WTG!!! But that alone could be the reason you have not seen a change in the scale right now. If you stressed the muscles more than usual, they will retain extra fluid. Plus if you are working harder and building muscle...it will weigh more. I know it matters to all of us, what the scale says--but in reality, no one but you and your Dr. are likely to ever know what that scale says...are your clothes feeling different? I would bet if you checked your measurements, you would find you have lost inches. I have been stuck at 217 for days on end---but I did my measurements this morning, and while I have only lost 1 1/2 pounds since I did them last which was about 3 weeks ago---I have lost 4 inches over all. How without losing weight? Who the heck knows??? But it's gone! My size 16 jeans I can slide off without unbuttonning or unzipping!! You are doing all the right things---all you ladies impress and inspire me soooo much!!! It will do just like Julie said--and next week several pounds will be gone!!! Betty & Julie--hope you have a safe and happy trip! Boo--Hope you are resting and recovering. Take care of yourself--we will all be here waiting for you when you get better and are raring to go again!!! Roberta--what's your Thanksgiving plan?? Heather --where ya hiding?? Talk to you all soon...off to the shower (aka the great hair pit---it is falling out soooo bad!!!). Kat

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Wow! we all seem to be losing about the same, mine has slowed way down too but I'm ok with that. I finally quit the pork rinds and that helped. I have kept up all my protein and vitamins so I don't understand the hair loss BUT love the new shorter cut. My stylist says I'm trendy...lol guess thats a nsv coz I've never been trendy before. Breezy you motivate me to exercise so think I'll order zumba, sick of the treadmill.
  13. Hi Everyone....I'm so excited to make my first post! I started to seriously think about WLS 6 months ago and thats when I found this site. I used to come on here and look for the answers to the questions I had in my head mainly should I, shouldn't I and is it safe. I found all your stories good and bad extremely helpful and motivating so I want to say thank you for all the honest opinions and those who take time out to give help and advice. I had a my lap band surgery on the 18th April and luckily everything went smooth. The hospital where I had my surgery were professional, informative and caring they really impressed me and made me feel safe as well as looked after me well during my stay. I had one night stay in hospital after the surgery and I'm thankful for that. I had my op quite late in the day around 2.30pm but I was not able to get up and walk around like a most of you did. I got up once in the evening to use the bathroom, I was in so much pain and just about managed, I felt dizzy and sick so I just got back in bed where I stayed till the morning but being in hospital I was able to get morphine and an anti sickness injection. The next seven days at home I was resting and recovering. I had absolutely no appetite for about a week and managed easily on two weeks of liquid. My main issue was the gas pain I had it for almost 2 weeks. I took gas x, deflatine, peppermint tea, heat Patches and walkined around but I would say none it worked, it helps for a quick fix but the gas just goes when it goes. I have 5 incisions and I was glued back together I kept them covered for 3 days as advised but 3 days post op I went out and I think I over did it as getting in and out of the car and walking round made my stitches weep a little so I went back to my resting for the rest of the week but they have healed well and look very neat, the biggest one hurt the most. Then I went on to sloppy/mushy food for 2 weeks, again that was no problem for me. I ate 3 small meals a day as directed and I didn't get hungry in-between meals till the last day. On the first day I had a cooking day and made a potato & cauliflower curry, lasagne, chili and shepherd pie then I put small portions of each in takeaway foils and I was eating amazing food for lunch and dinner for the two weeks and it was really healthy as I made it myself with the help of Jamie Oliver's online recipes. http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/category/course/healthy-meals/#M74ep0D62Lx033KT.97 Now I'm on normal solid food and I have my 1st fill on 26th May. I'm both scared to death thinking of what pain it might be yet excited as I want to loose weight. I have noticed my portions getting bigger and I'm looking for food but I don't eat anything I'm not supposed to I just drink Water and wait for my next meal but it's getting harder so I'm counting down the days for my fill. I have lost 13 pounds since I started my 1 week pre op diet, I gained 1 pound but lost it again My main focus is just not to put any of it back on. I go walking 2 miles a day however my weight loss has come to a standstill. I didn't loose anything last week and the week before only 1 pound, I'm ok as long as its not going on but obviously I want to see my scale moving. Haven't had any NSV's yet but my clothes are much looser. I'm feeling positive and happy with how everything has gone so far but I guess it will become more difficult after the fill. I hope you enjoyed hearing my story Once again my success so far is all because of you, as I learnt so much from this site what to do and not to do so THANK YOU!!

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Hi Shonda! You look great, as always J Hope you had a great time. Tap, good deal on the challenge with your Hubby. I know that always gets me ready to move it. That might be just what you need to get you over that finish line! SHM, just start slow. Take it easy, but even 20 minutes a day is better than not doing anything at all. We’re all here for you! Ezma, welcome back to the fight! I know you can do it. One things for sure, if I can get back in the program, anyone can. I was out for the count for a long time. As for my self I’m pretty positive I’m going to get a small fill tomorrow. I can eat way too much. I was back up to 251.5 this morning. L I think some of it just might be water, so I’m going to be extra good and flush all day. I even lost my equilibrium a bit this morning while I was getting in my car to go to work. I think my ear might be a little plugged. I checked my blood pressure and it was fine. But, here is a little NSV I enjoyed… while I was checking the blood pressure I noticed the cuff was too big! I’m graduating to a medium cuff now. No Large, No Extra Large. Just a nice normal size cuff. LOL! Who would have ever imagined that would make someone so happy? On the good side I have been blowing through my workouts. I stayed on my elliptical for 80 minutes. I did a first 15 minutes until some company came over, but after they left I finished up with an additional 65 minutes. WOW!! I felt so tired and could barely walk but hey… I did it! I get to do my walk today too since I’m at work. I’m just going to do some muscle toning tonight though. Not a lot of cardio. Ok then, talk soon! Hope everyone has a great day. J

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Heck yeah Megan! We need all the wisdom we can get! I feel like I'm just treading Water. I know things are happening, I wouldn't be having so many NSVs, but I don't know how to deal with the frustration. I just had another fill yesterday, an additional .5 cc, so that puts me over 2ccs. I didn't feel any different yesterday, but I know that it takes a while for fills to kick in. *sigh* It's difficult to wrap my miind around the concept of a successful weight loss surgery without dramatic weight loss. Does that make sense? Kim, I think the inches lost thread is a great idea! That's part of Nana~'s Holiday challenge, and I love it. More realistic for some of us than just a staight pounds lost.

Hi Laura, nice to see you again! 43 pound in 10 months insn't anything to sneeze at. I still brush at 30 pounds loss since March. How are your other measurements coming? How many sizes have you lost? Hello Dawndreamer, I don't quite know what to say, other than I think some people really benifit from a regimented program, so it might be that the combination of the program and the band are working well for you. I understand about not being able to excersize and I know it's hard watching folks who all they have to do is get banded lose weight. Hi Holly, yeah, I think you qualify as a member of the Turtle tribe. So, your first assignment, your initiation if you will, is to start your very own list to Track your NSVs, your non-scale victories.

    Slow Losers - Unite!

can I join your slowww losers club? I was banded on 1/4/05. I've lost 35lbs. I haven't made the best food choices nor have I exercized the way I should. Sorry it's so late after the thread but I haven't had time to come on the site lately I have to come on more I love reading the threads I find them very helpful. I was also hoping to be further along with the numbers by now but I guess slow loss is better than being heavyier. My best NSV is I don't get out of breath so easily anymore. That feels great!!!!!!!

    Slow Losers - Unite!

Welcome to the "Slow Loser" thread on LBT. A few orders of business to begin. First, we need to elect a leader. Someone who will voice our opinion clearly and with wisdom and humor. Our Leader will support us in our efforts and remind us of our NSV's and to not be discouraged. I nominate - Vinesqueen. I can think of no on here on the board more eloquent and positive in her day to day outlook. (she has no idea about this, by the way - this is my own little invention - but I still think she should be our leader) Second - we need to define "slow loser". I would propose that a slow loser is someone who is losing (or lost) less than 1 pound per week (average) during the first year of banding. Third - Our Mission. Our Mission will be to stick together as a group. There is always strength in numbers. As we see newly banded people losing more in a month or six weeks than we have lost in 6 months to a year, we will join together and remind each other of how well we're doing. We'll chant the LBTSL ( that LapBand Talk Slow Loser) mantra of "It's not a race, it's not a race" over and over again. Will you join me? Will you, a slow loser, a turtle in the weight loss race, make your voice heard amongst all these rabbits? Mostly will you let me know that I am not alone out here in bandland? Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

    Outrageous Octobers

Hi fellow October Bandsters! I was banded last week. Tomorrow will be my graduation to soft foods. I have had my 2 first major NSV this week. On sunday I was able to put my wedding ring on and wear it comfortably. This is the first time in 3 years I have been able to wear it. I also was taken off my insulin yesterday. I know my doctors said that it would happen fast I just didn't think it would be this fast. I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to watching your progress!

    January's Chat

Good evening everyone, suppose most of you are in bed now getting ready for the new work week, especially Eileen. Eileen, you do remember I don't cook, I couldn't imagine preparing a week's worth of food. I do well to fix the coffee the night before, just cause I have to have my lava when my feet hit the floor. I can't believe you didn't get a fill, although, why waste one if you're on a losing streak. Cindy, I wish it was summer and warm enough for the beach, though, I'd rather be sitting at the end of the pier fishing, or crabbing with the grandkids. They get so excited when they feel them tugging on the string, they start yelling, "get the net, get the net". The 2yr old just wants to play climb in and out of the boat. Betty you're one dedicated Harley rider, I'll give you that! I'm a fair weather rider, LOL. DOC, what part of FL, my DH wants a place in Florida soooo bad. I have to hear about it every morning while we're having coffee and watching the cold weather report here. I wouldn't mind something near Orlando, it would have to be a great deal and near or on golf course. Condo's all we need, any suggestions? Ivan, you're looking great! Took my 12yr old gson to see Kong tonight, the special effects were great, but a tad bit far fetched, oh my butt, 3 hours! I had an NSV today, my DH had the Harleys out and I ran in and threw on my Harley vest and ran out with camera for him to take a picture and he'd already put them back in the garage. Anyway, my vest, that I only could snap the bottom snap, wellllll, it snaps all the way and it fits very nicely, not too tight, and to think I almost gave it away. Cindy speaking of cooking, I almost cooked the other night, I popped in one of those meatloaf frozen things and those mashed taters with garlic, some porknbeans and my dh thought he had a home cooked meal. I'll catch the rest of yall tomorrow.

Eileen...I"m sorry you were disappointed on your fill. I remember thinking it would be easier, too...but I've had periods of struggle throughout. Not long, and not excrutiating, but enough that I had to actually think about what I was doing and what I was eating. Hopefully posting our meals will hlep you out that way. If you are still really struggling after a couple of weeks, ask him again. On the other hand, it sounds like he is truly looking after your best interests; so that ought to be reassuring. Betty, I'm sitting here crossing my fingers for you and that job search! HOpefully, the companies have their new budget for 2006 and there's enough money for you! Doc, you just hang in there, girl. You're getting closer everyday! Be sure to buy Sugar-free popsicles! But don't pack them because they'll melt! Patty, that package thing is fishy. I'm very envious that you have annual passes to anywhere Disney! I forgot to tell you all a cool NSV. Yesterday, I needed a brown shirt to go under a vest...and hanging in the closet was an XL. IT FIT! Not all XL's fit, but that even one in the universe did, well, that's an NSV, I don't care who you are! (Okay, I stole that last part from Larry the Cable Guy). It was so cool. Just got back from Sam's and bought my big supply of Zone Perfect Fudge Graham bars...they are so good I feel like I'm eating something that's not good for me! That's why I like them. Even if I pig out and eat 2 of them (not often, but I've done it), at least I'm getting 16g of protein in each one. Pat, I guess Wednesday's are pretty tiring...I just figured you were in you new car, jamming out on the stereo! OH Eileen - I'm not working for Starbucks...I just went to a meeting there! Although the tips do sound pretty good.....I had Peppermint Mocha, non-fat, no whip...so it wasn't great, but it wasn't damning! More later, check in everyone! Cindy
