    October Bandsters!!!

Thanks for creating this AmyRose! Looking forward to all us helping each other and having both scale and NSVs to share!

    small NSV

Yay to all of you! Keep on sharing! NSVs encourage me more than seeing the scale go down. I can't wait until I can cross my legs...no biggie for a lot of peeps but I haven't been able to cross them since high school.

    small NSV

Congrats to both of you. My small NSV is the fact that after only 26 pounds I can put my thumb and middle finger all the way around my wrist and touch. I haven't been able to do that in a long time.

    small NSV

There are no small NSV's. Congrats!
  7. I went walking yesterday and the armband that hold my IPod kept slipping, so today I tried it without the extender and it fit! I know this is small, but it did make me smile!
  8. Well, according to the body composition scale at the gym, today I weighed in at 214.8 lbs, making another straight week of around 2lbs lost. Amazing to be doing that at 17 months post-op, but who's complaining? Also, since 215 was my goal (adjusted downward from 225 originally), GOAAAL! Well, except that I've now adjusted it down AGAIN to 200. And in addition to losing 2 lbs in the past week, according to the body composition numbers, in the past month (ish, since 8/26) I've lost 2% body fat (4.4 lbs) and GAINED ~2% muscle (around 4 lbs). That's just amazing; my fitness guru at the gym was astounded, he said he's NEVER seen a guy in his 40's (ok, early 40's, but still) gain muscle and lose fat so fast. It's a VERY GOOD DAY.

    Never thought this would happen...

I looove to hear NSV's like this! Fitting in smaller sizes was way more exciting to me than any number on the scale (except for Onederland... of course). Thanks for sharing!! Keep up the excellent work - and have fun with the zumba!

    Alice in Onderland!

Congratulations Sugarmamma7!!!!! For me everything became more real when I got to onederland. It seems there are move NSVs, it's more noticeable... I don't know! Maybe it's psychological, believing that, yes, I'm doing this. No matter. Congratulations to you and enjoy the new you!!!!

NSv and didn't even realize it until now!

GREAT NSV KEEP THEM COMING CONGRATS
  12. Ok, so like many people, I have a birthmark. Mine is a mole tucked so far up my thigh I have literally only seen it when contorted, and it has never seen the sunshine. So today I am wearing some silly underwear which fasten at the crotch, and after I pee I am hopping around trying to re-fasten things, when I see myself in the mirror (dont allow them at home), and notice a new mole on my leg. I'm at an age where these things happen so wasn't thrown, until it occurred to me that it was a familliar size & shape! So I check it out, and as the lbs have shifted so has my birthmark!! What was once very hidden is now sat at the top of my leg clearly visible, even in granny knickers! A very odd, and unexpected NSV!

  14. I went shopping with my mom this past weekend and every top I bought was either a Medium or a Large in women's- not a 1x or 2x or 3x. How I just realized that- IDK lol. They either fit perfectly or lose lol. Just thought I'd share

    OH BOY...IT BEGINS

I hadn't realized that is has been so long since I wrote on my blog. I do want to keep up with my progress (it will be progress) so here goes. Sept. 28th I went for all my pre-op testing, registration and classes for my October 19th surgery. Talk about a great harvest, this is going to be the best fall in my life. Today 10/6/11 is my 4th day of my pre-op diet (I started a couple of days early, why wait) and it hasn't been as bad as I thought. I do get tummy growls but it is usually because it is time to eat something. Neat how the body will let you know what it needs. Wish I had been more in tune to it before now but we will have the tool to help get healtier in a few days. I have been getting the house ready for the new eating habits and God bless my Lovey's heart (husband) he is on the path with me. He is eating healthier even our dog Charlie is getting better low calorie dog food and walkies. We all are benefiting from this journey. I am trying to think of everything I will need during and after surgery and this web site is a God send for the information. I am excited about a lot of the NSV's that I have been having and the clothes are falling of me now. I will have to go get some smaller ones just to have something to wear during this losing phase. I feel great phsyically and trying to stay postitive mentally. I am already off my high blood pressure meds and my diabetic meds. Now if I can get rid of the high cholestral and sleep apnea machine, life will be so much simplier. Time for more chicken broth so I will "blog" more later. This is the beginning of a new life for me and I can't wait for the adventure.
  16. I am still surprised at how eating less food than I have ever in my life has made me appreciate the tastes of food so accutely. My husband made me one of the best meals I ever eaten tonight - it was amazing. Simple - a perfectly prepared omelet and some absolutely ripe sliced garden (REAL) tomatoes. The food tastes exploded in my mouth like I was eating pop-rocks. I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the experience of eating. I used to eat until I was numb and the food didn't even taste good at the point I would stop - I was full to the point was miserable and about to gag. The sleeve surgery has given me back the gift of enjoying food. I don't care if I ever eat a white carb again if I can keep this appreciation of a well prepared meal.
  17. Awesome thread! I had a lot of similar goals and have reached most of them through the summer. Best ones so far: Having tons more energy to play with my kids - I've been to fairs and waterparks and actually played with the kids on all the rides, slides etc. Having lots of room in an airplane seat - flew in July when I hit my hundred pound mark and it was MARVELOUS! Shopping in regular stores - goodbye plus size stores forever! While it's still a wee bit uncomfortable to cross my legs in a straightback chair, I cross my legs all the time on sofas and other types of seating. This thread is fabulous. It made me appreciate the nsv's I have achieved and look forward to more. Good luck to all of you who are at the beginning of the journey, you have great goals!

    May 2011 Bandsters Report In

Hi May bandsters. today is my 5 month surgiversary, so i thought i would check in. I have lost 70 pounds and I have had zero fills. I will see my doctor next month and then if everything is ok, i won't see him for another 6 months after that (unless i need a fill). so far, I feel amazing, i reached twoderville and still have a loooooonnnggg way to go to get to onederland. i may never get there, but i'm so happy where i am that i really don't care any more. I can eat any type of food and have never been stuck or PB'ed or had any issues really. there were a few instances early on with nausea that we narrowed down to being caused by my time of the month and i take medicine for that now just a day or 2 before my period and it stops nausea in its tracks. i hope everyone else is doing well and seeing lots of NSVs in addition to the weight dropping.
  19. Wow, where is the time going? I can't believe that I am seven months out already. This has truly been the best thing that I have ever done for myself and like I tell everyone every month, if you are on the fence or nervous about getting the surgery.... DO IT and don't look back! After 33 years, I can finally say that I have started to enjoy life and experience my life how it should have been lived a long time ago. I abused myself with food and found comfort in it but today, I look at back and think, what the hell were you doing. You ruined your childhood, your high school years and your college years because you were too obsessed with food and then too ashamed to go out in public. While yes, I was always the happy one on the outside, deep inside, I was not happy with my physical self. Today, because of this surgery, I can say I am truly happy. Yes, I still have a ways to go to hit goal but if I didn't lose another pound, i would be happy. I am down 112lbs and have hit onderland for the first time in 20 years and am weighing in today at 196lbs down from 308lbs and have gone from a size 24 pants to a size 14 and a 3x top to a xl or l top. I have had so many NSV's theY are hard to list. The best one though is that I can go out and live my life. That's my biggest non surgical victory! Thanks to all of you , I would not be where I am today withouth all of your kind words of support and also your encouraging pictures of your own success. Much love to you all and continued success on your own journey!

    ONEDERLAND!!!

I just wanted to tell my peeps that I am in onederland finally!!!! I had my surgery August 8th and I am 8 weeks post op today! I weighed in at 199.1! It feels so good to say that I have lost 35 pounds since the beginning August 1st (one week was preop). I am feeling better these days and have just starting doing aerobic classes this saturday. I am still tired some but its not bad anymore. I can eat anything but I eat my protein first. I am drinking water better these days. I am so glad to be nearly two months out already! Time is flying by! I am having nsv's like crazy!
  22. Good news and bad news. Bad new is I PB'd and slimed after only about 6 bites of food at lunch today. Thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. Now onto my good news. I had a NSV today. Got into a pair of pants I haven't worn for about a year! :)

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hi, all! I, too, wanted to check in and see how everyone's doing! I got my third fill last week and I think I've finally found the green zone. I'm able to eat very small amounts of solid food (1/2 a cup on a good day) and am making sure I get my protein by adding one or two shakes every day. I've discovered that I'm a VERY slow loser, but have (after some minor frustration) come to terms with it, mostly. My weight will regularly drop several pounds, then bounce back up, then finally settle out at a net loss of a little over a pound a week. But better than that are the NSVs. I'm back to exercising regularly. I take yoga classes several times a week and have actually started running again--or rather, I had started running, but hurt my knee. So now I'm using the elliptical machine every day and doing the low-impact equivalent of running. I've dropped several clothing sizes. I'm able to keep up with my toddler. I LOVE MY BAND!! How's everyone else doing?
  24. I am feeling SO much better. My left side incision finally released and the pain I have been experiencing in that side is finally gone. I feel like a new person. I have lost 16 lbs since 9/6 surgery and about 16 inches overall. I have moved from a 22 to an 18 in clothes and I feel so much better about myself already. I am finally in the mushies stage and eating canned chicken, tuna, baked fish, Beans & cheese, eggs, etc. I picked up some cottage cheese and greek yogurt to try out tomorrow. I am walking alot and trying to make sure I get my fluids in. I have been on a stall for the past 12 days so I am hoping it ends soon. In the meantime, I am counting my other NSV's such as my blood sugar and blood pressure being normal for the first time in over 5 years. I know this surgery was the right decision for me.

    My NSV

So I am at a plateau, now adding in more exercise (joined the YMCA yesterday and burned 699 calories yesterday alone!!) and trying to eat less at each meal and stay below 1200 calories....the scale isn't moving much these days, but I have new reasons to celebrate..... Last week I had to go get new bras....the old ones were super loose in the cups....so loose that I had to cut off the excess material!!! But today was the REAL NSV!!!!! I measured myself...something I haven't done since surgery day... I lost 3 inches in the waist 3 inches in the bust 4 inches in the hips nothing in thigh....might have to re-measure that one! 1 inch in the upper arm!! Went from a size 42DD bra to a 40C...first time in over 10 years and 3 kids that I've been a C!! I've gotten rid of my size 20-22 clothes, now working on getting through the 18's.... went to a wedding last night and wore a size 16 dress without busting out of it!!!! It fit great and felt even better!!! I even danced in HEELS!!! I'm not a dancer by an means, but danced longer than I ever would have even thought of pre-banding!! Woot woot!! If I can figure out how to add pics before and now I will do so.
