    NSV anyone?

Another day, another NSV. Today, not only am I wearing for the first time, a shirt I got for Christmas, but I RAN FOR THE BUS. Yes, you read that correctly, I RAN for the bus. It's not like there wasn't another bus in 5 minutes... but I RAN. Me! and I wasn't winded either! Heh, sure, I'm happy with all my NSVs but a part of me is wondering when I'm going to start having some weight loss!

    "Green" Day Challenge

Geogia girl, yep I only weigh on Wednesdays. And sometimes I sneak a little one in on the weekend, but I dont record it. I tend to be obsessive, I am a true perfectionist. My nature is such that I want to be at goal right now and anything but that is unacceptable, but also unrealistic. It became really unhealthy for me. So in order to save myself from a future eating disorder (I know myself) I took the advise of many LBTers to weigh weekly. It took a little time but I am happier now than I was then, I can actually see NSVs now when before it was the scale or absolute failure. Its also the reason that I dont have a "highest to goal" ticker. With that and my love of Japanese style colloquialisms, Super Fantastic Weigh In Wednesday was born.

    Oh Happy Day! 2

I achieved another NSV (No Scale Victory) today. I put on a pair of trousers, that when first bought were uncomfortably tight and ended up in the wardrobe after only one outting. Now they are comfortable, well more than comfortable, loose! Not loose enough for me to dare to go down to the next size, but what a wonderful way to start the day! Everyday, even with the occasional hiccup, has been a reminder that I made the right decison. I have finally invested in myself. Still feel it was a bit of a selfish action but I know both CM and I will benefit in the long run! I know there are going to be some aspects of my health that won't be resolved by my weight loss, but I look forward to the day when I can walk much longer distances without keeling over in pain. I truly do hope that with my combination of weightloss and gentle exercise, I may firm up my joints enough to prevent me causing any further damage. Not sure what I am going to do today, I know I have food shopping to do. That is also a major benefit my shopping bill - when I shop for household food and animal food - has dramatically decreased! I eat less than CM!!!! Lord help me when my size justifies clothes shopping lol. It's a good job I am not keen on Sinsburys TU! They tend to be at least one size smaller than the lable says. Why is it, that two articles of clothing from different stores can be so dramatically different? I have asked for clothes vouchers from MOnsoon and next for xmas presents. I won't spend them immediately, I may hold onto them until I get to a size 16 or maybe even 14! 16 is my initial goal and 14 my final goal. I have never been smaller than 14 and doubt I would look that good so skinny. I'd laugh if I managed to get into 12's and then probably panic! You know it's funny, a part of me is terrified about losing weight! Not sure why that should be. I should see it as a positive. Maybe that is the problem. Being fat (I still hate that word) protected me, I stopped thinking about being attractive, which meant I gave up on contemplating dating, safe in the knowledge that I would never be wanted. Maybe it will still be the case when I get down to my ideal size? It's silly though isn't it, I guess my blubber was keeping me safe from being hurt. I am going to have to work on my self-esteeem!

    June to Labor Day Challenge

It's Monday again, so here I am. This week just flew by, but not a suprise since it was a short work week. Although there has no change in my weight I do have some NSV to report. I was at a couple of parties this weekend and had a really good time. Alot of people have notice my weight loss and were saying how great I looked. Having never been one who receives alot of attention, this new amount of attention was kind of overwhelming. I mean I thanked everyone, but I felt like poeple expected me to have more self eestem or something. Before, when I was heavier, I was really shy...now I feel like people want me to me more out going (which I'd like to be) but I feel like I'm just not used to it. And I know I shouldn't care about what other people think, but its hard. Also this morning I went for a walk. And since I've been trying to add in more running, I tired running for a little bit longer and finally was able to! So the moral of my story is, try not focus so much on the weight loss this week and think about all the great new things I'm finally able to do. 5. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. This morning, one of our vendors brought in donuts from this fabulous bakery. Just looking at them, the freshness of dumping over rode the desire to have a bite. This is a victory for me. My first NSV! I don't ever remember turning down a donut. Never. Ever. I'm the one who usually has seconds and thirds. GO ME! DJMOR - sorry that you are in the 20%. I know it must be hard. I had told myself that if I was in the 20%, it would just mean that I have to fight harder. I am going to stay away! I am committed to this lifestyle change.

    April 2008 Exercise Challenge

TG, Thanks for the advice about iron levels. I go in a few weeks for checkup so i'll get that checked. Today's my hubby birthday so no working out for me. You're having a good week getting your hours in. Congrats on the NSV. I read your thread. That is exciting. I don't like the new format either. I finally figured out how to see the threads I read. For the next two weeks I'll be traveling. Ugh
  7. Congratulations! Well done! Thank you for the inspiration! You know I am finding more joy in the nsv's than the number on the scale. Perhaps it doesn't feel so momentous since you've really been at goal for some time now. Anyway, I feel so proud and happy for you and I hope 2014 is our best year yet!
  8. Agnes: Congrats on making this decision for yourself. I can say this has been the best thing I have done for myself. I do not regret it. Just realize, this is a tool that you must work with. It is a lifestyle not a deit. It is normal to get scared and to worry about this working or not. Just be prepared that you may have times of little or no weight lost as we all hit a pleateau. In fact, I just started moving down again after about a 6 month pleateau. The key is working with your doctors and getting fills (adjustments) every 6-8 weeks til you get restriction. It takes 3-4 fills for most people to get restriction. So be prepare for this to happen. Start now practicing portion control and not drinking with meals. You cannot drink anything with you meals. No drinking anything 30 -60 minutes prior to a meal. No drinking anything 30-60 minutes after a meal. liquids wash the food thur the band. Also remember to Celebrate NSV (non scale victories) such as dropping a clothes size. I had many of these nsv during my plateau. It helped keep me motivated. Remember to drink or sip you liquids slowly. I drink mainly Water or diet green tea. It is best to find some zero calorie drinks and save you calories for you food. Tho' I have my cup of coffee each morning. You will need to trial and error to see what you can and cannot eat. I have a list of no-no foods my doctor gave me, which I have avoided. Some of the foods on my list, others can eat without a problem. Just like we all are different people, we all react differently to the band. Our bodies tolerate different foods. So don't be surprised you cannot eat the same things as others do. I think you have done a good job educating your self about the band and I believe it is key to being successful. The chatroom here is a great source for support. There are groups on here and yahoo that may help you too. The forum provides good data as well. Just know this is your journey and it will be as unique and special as you are. Listen to your doctor and follow his guidelines & instructions. Find you a fill doctor here in the states and make sure to work with them to get your fills in a timely matter. Good luck and much success on your journey. July will be here before you know it. You can and will make it. Positive thinking, a great atitude, and working with your band equals great success. I hoipe this post helps you!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Last night while DH was watching the play off game, I went to our bedroom to watch something I wanted to on the TV in there. It got a little chilly, so I grabbed a small throw I use to cover the grandbabies when they sleep on my bed, and covered up. When the game ended he come in to the room, he walked in the door, and stopped, and smiled, and told me I looked little bitty in that bed (King size----of course!) As I lay there, I realized, I did in fact take up very little space on that bed as compared to before, and I fit under that little blanket with some to tuck in! So in the night I thought about it, and suddenly realized, I now simply roll over, in one fluid motion. Used to be a series of grunts, and rolls, and shifts, and more settling----it took a lot to turn me over!!! Now it is a non issue! Not the type of NSV's usually associated with bed------but they made me happy!!! Kat

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

Great thread! A few NSV's for me: At the movies, my butt doesn't squish to touch both sides of the seat. :smellie: My car's steering wheel has an automatic feature that brings wheel closer to you, and lowers it to a preset level when you put the key in the ignition. I always had it swet to extend the furthest, and lower the most. Before, it touched my stomach when in place. Now there is a good 6 inches of space between the wheel & my tummy. :boink: Recently re-committed myself to the gym. Found out it takes MUCH longer to reach THR, and that I can bump up the speed to a much higher number, with very little heavy breathing. Enjoying more frequent heavy breathing (if you catch my drift)! Sorry, just had to add that...

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

So I'm pre-band(7 weeks away!!!), but I have been losing weight before surgery(low carb) and would like to share a NSV from that! Speaking of body parts...I have collarbones! Always did, but now they actually sorta stick out! Looking forward to many more NSVs with the band!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

I went shopping over the weekend with my 12 year old daughter and I tried on a coat at Delia'a (for girls) and it fit! I did not buy it but my daughter was so proud of me that it felt great. My NSV was not about the coat but how my daughter reacted and said "that is so cool Mom, now we can shop together"! It felt so great to see the look on her face! I love my band!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

My best NSV was today. I left my jackets last night, and didn't have one to wear this morning. My husband threw me his (which has always barely gotten around my shoulders) and it fit PERFECTLY. I told him he never gets it back!

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

So... I finally have some NSV's. - Buddy at work yesterday tells me that there is a big difference since he started here. He started 2 days before my Sx, he didn't even see me at my max weight. - I had to buy new jeans the other day. Size 48 instead of 54! - Speaking of jeans... I got into some old 46 waist jeans!!! Still a tad too tight though - I just realized this morning that I have not had PIZZA in over a month! Ya know what? I don't miss that feeling of eating an entire large pizza in one sitting! And what happens the next day.

    NSV (Non Scale Victories)

It's been a bad habit 2 weeks; not the best food choices, some WRONG choices, etc. Had TOM last week. Anyway, I 'knew' that I was up on the scale. So I stayed away. Big chicken that I am. Dad saw me yesterday and said "So...how are you feeling? How is the weightloss?" Told him I haven't weighed. But his asking me, made me think "Do I LOOK fatter?" So this a.m., I weighed. Down another 1.5. I coudln't believe it. So, my NSV was weighing less than I thought I would!!!

    Size 10 Jeans! What?

Forens(my iPad won't let me type your full screen name)...anyway congrats!!! Today almost the same thing happened to me, and to try to get my hubby and 16 year old son to understand what it means to go from wearing a size 24 pants to today...buying a pair of 15/16 lady wrangler was huge for me. For the first time in 20 years, I did not even try them on until I got home. Fit perfectly. I simply can't wait to be a size 12 so to be in a 10 like you... whoot hoot! So here is to all of our NSV for Saturday!!! Take care all

    My Face Has A Shape!

This was one of my favorite NSV's!!! I always felt like I looked like a chipmunk... and i actually avoided smiling because it would make my eyes look tiny and my cheeks blow up lol! It is awesome to not worry about that now!!!! Congrats

    Feeling frustrated

I am 3 years out. Right after surgery I lost weight for the first 3 weeks and then had an almost 4 week stall. Yes it was frustrating but expected. During that stall I dropped 2 sizes. When I did break the stall I lost 4.5 pounds overnight. Just stick with the program and it will work, I promise. For me hopping on the scale during the stall wasn't stressful so I did it everyday. For others you may want to move to weighing yourself once a week on the same day or only weigh in at follow-up visits or once a month. Everyones approach to the scale is different. During your stall you need to look for NSVs. When I moved to maintenance I personally need to weigh every day. It keeps me honest in my eating choices.

    My NSV!!! So excited

I got up this morning, realized I am close to the weight I was when I got married 5+ years ago. I had gained almost 50 pounds before being banded. So.........I dug to the back of the closet, pulled out my wedding dress, put it on and ZIPPED IT UP! Then proceeded to call anyone who would listen and tell them. I am so excited. I am only 2 lbs from being 1/2 way to goal! YIPPEE:whoo::clap2:
