I lost 40 lbs in a month. I didn't lose at all for two weeks and felt the exact same way. Only difference is after that first week of no losing I put my scale up for a week. Right now I'm going down between 1-2 lbs a day. It seems like the days I do well no loss the days I cheat and have a snack or something not quite healthy I'll lose way more!!! It's crazy. I read on here it's just the increase in calories so I'm trying to find a healthier way of doing that. I felt regret for the first month but I went from a 26 pant to a 20!!! It's just emotional and my body isn't doing what I expected it to..

Hi, I take a PPI every morning - Dr's orders for the first 6 months! I also take a chewable multi Vitamin every day, a sublibgual B-12 a couple days a week. My 1 month bloodwork showed I am Vit D deficient so I am taking a prescription Vitamin D once a week for 4 weeks and then I will cycle down to one vit D (over the counter) every day. It's weird for me because I have never been one to take Vitamins. I should probably take more calcium and Iron, but so far, so good. Lara

I lost 19 pounds the first two weeks and about 5-6 pounds a week all total. I am five weeks out as of tomorrow and have lost 29 pounds.

I asked my doctor during my one week post op appointment because I was experiencing the same. He suggested I get some imodium if it didn't clear up in a couple days.

I am in my 3rd week of liquids and its been diarrhea allll along! I think its the shakes, the milk, a mix of everything. I do take immodium from time to time because it gets very disrupting. I am really not worried, I have aunts who are nurses and they had told me before the surgery that it would most probably happen:)

Return to Work/School
PATCHELTON replied to SMSMOM2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not been banded yet. My paperwork is with my insurance company so I am waiting for the authorization. My coworker had band surgery and came back after a week and it was too soon for her. She didn't have enough time to take off more. I am fortunate that I have plenty of vacation and sick time. I plan to take 2 weeks minimum, even though I have a sit-down job. This is a big step for me and I want the time to adjust. I am all stocked up with protein shakes, chicken broth, frozen sugar-free popsicles, sugar free jello and such. I found a check list here somewhere and what I didn't have already I have purchased most items. Still need slip on shoes, and liquid Tylenol. I asked at Target and they don't carry adult strength liquid Tylenol, so I will look around. Have the Gas-X, heating pad, ice pack, paper tape, gauze, blender, even toilet tongs LOL! I think I might need a UHaul to get to the hospital! -
I'm so ready for this
juliegeraci replied to Donna Gubbins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Donna, mine took 6-8 weeks total to get through all the preop appointments and the approval. It sounds like you are further in the process so I would say within 2 weeks. -
JUNE 10, 2013, MY BEGINNING
UK Cathy replied to sherisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are going through the dreaded 3 week stall, do not worry it happens to most people. Everyone gets over it and goes on to lose more weight. One your journey you might have a few stalls, for some people they last days and for others weeks! They are frustrating but have patience and perseverance and you will be fine. -
My surgery is in 2 weeks and I'm just curious about how much weight everyone lost their first week post op! I know everyone is different but I'm just trying to get an average!
-
just like everyone said. everyone is different. i was pretty sore after my band. of course it didnt help that i got my period (tmi?) just a few days afterwards so i think that added to the pain. i would be careful tho. i was 2 days post op and i thought i was fine so i went to take a shower and ended up banging on the wall for my mom. i was dizzy, light headed, and could barely walk. i just tried to do to much to soon. so take things slow. i would say a week after and i was bad to normal.

Anyone familiar w/True Results?
lilaz602 replied to heffelsgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, I was having the same issues. So, I started asking questions but what time does she work, etc. I also got her email address and starting sending emails. Instead of phone calls. After about a week, I got everything submitted to insurance and got my tentative surgery date today. I know my coordinator was out a couple days sick and I was trying to give them a break. I didn't want to piss them off. I think people respond quicker to emails too. I saw a different surgeon first. Their respond time was ridiculous in additional they charge a $1000 program fee. I still yet to hear back from them. True Results was definitely the best choice for me. Good Luck! 10/19/2009 - Surgical Consult & EKG 10/26/2009 - Lap work completed & Faxed Medical Records to Dr. 11/03/2009 - Dr. Office sent to Insurance for approval 11/06/2009 – Start Pre-Op Diet 11/10/2009 - Pre-Admission Testing 11/16/2009 - EGD 11/20/2009 – Tentative LAP-BAND Surgery Date -
Finally! I Meet With My Surgeon Tomorrow!
*susan* replied to CandiKiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay, I am so happy you got your date, it won't be long now. My pre-op diet started two weeks before my surgery, and my surgeon's staff emailed it to me the week prior to starting it. -
Hi Nancy! Good luck with the unfill and 2 week 'rest'. I hope everything goes nice and smooth for you. Chantal

I took my pain meds only twice after surgery, but I was very dizzy the first two weeks so I didn't drive until two weeks out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Blossom..WOW! you are one of the few who was alllowed chili's, fixin's and desserts just being 2 weeks post op.....Lucky you I was still on clear liquids at 2 weeks post op with a week of full liquids after that, then 2 weeks of mushy's and then I was on solids. I was told no food for 3 weeks so my band can set in place and I can heal because any food in my tummy would have to digest and the digestion process is such a grumblin, rumblin thing that I did not want to risk slippage since my band was not set into place and I was not healed al ltheway by having to digest any food prior to being 3 weeks post op..so interesting how every Dr. has different post op instructions, it varies so much between Dr.'s...Anyways. I tell everyone and anyone who asks how I have lost my weight..as a matter of fact one of my customers this morning asked me and I told her, she has all ready called Dr. Orti'z office...she said she has been watching me get smaller and smaller, she is overweight by about 80lbs..so for me, the more I can help and the more I can educate about the band..The better! That's just me though!

Energy Levels 12 Days Post Op
gabbys_mom replied to Rebecca Jo Ragon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue and today I am three weeks post op. A few days ago I started taking in under the tongue dissolvable b-12. The no energy went right away! And I feel great!! It's a naturemade brand I believe. -
a 10-20 lb gain during year three is VERY common. I'm five years out and still there - and I have to fight like heck just to keep it there - 20 lbs heavier than my lowest weight! I've pretty much given up on losing those 20 lbs because it would take cutting back a lot on my calories, which I'm apparently not willing to do. But...that's what it takes.

PAIN.......worried
JigglyBitsBeGone replied to brenda ziranda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
(But totally ask your doctor if it keeps bothering you. I just got my own sleeve a few weeks ago - AM NOT EXPERT.) good luck -
I did ok @ Thanksgiving, over ate a little but not insane. Little did I know that was gonna be the best day out of the next 5. I called 1st thing Monday morning and told them I was eating anything not nailed down. I had 6 cc's in a 14 cc band and had been 3 weeks prior and they woudnt fill (down too much). So I make an appt. for Tues AM .. as I suspected was up a pound and was feeling out of control w/ eating. She filled with another 1.25cc's. Didn't seem like much .. well it's now Thurs PM and I still doing a mushie dinner .. having issues w/ solids. Lunch I did tiny tiny bites of meatloaf kind of buried in mashed sweet potato. I'm hoping this fill will mellow out just a tiny bit as I really don't want to unfill. I'm not starving, I'm not vomiting. definately some stuckage but am gonna try modifying to mushies thru the weekend and see how the weekend goes. I don't have a full restriction feeling the restriction seems to be more of what I can get down without it being very uncomfortable... if that makes any sense.

Successfully banded 12/3/14
lulalove replied to lulalove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all, This will be a long post about my journey 6.5 weeks post-op and its a bit tough (like everyone else's!) So I have not updated in a while due going through a major stall. After surgery my weight went up 5lbs, dropped by 4 then again up by 2. I started feeling very lousy and discouraged. Was blaming it all on the fill... etc (naturally) But little by little I regained my will, well still trying, Put reminders to eat slow, eat little, drink Water and exercise will beep on my phone FOREVER. Yes, every 30 minutes I set up my phone to drink water. Funny when my hubs is at home he counts how many I missed I have 25 oz bottle and know exactly how much I drink. Four of those and I feel accomplished. Three and I am happy too! Two I know I have to get back on track. I can gulp for now as I am only 2cc so pretty loose. Second, I log my food on MFP for nutrients counting. Started right when I finished cake from my son's 2nd bday... I have now the 2 bad days to compare with... then I threw out all the sweet stuff (except my dark chocolate!). I still cheat a tiny bit (i know, booooooo!) my hubby had to make homemade ice-cream! but I only had a cup about when I had 300 cal def and made him feel so guilty for making ice-cream and not frozen yogurt haha Plus I walk 1.5 - 2 miles at least 5 days a week. Wish I could do 3 miles, but my little monster gets annoyed. Plus weather in NYC is not so friendly. No excuses, so I did my first day of exercise following an app on iPhone. Just 19 minutes, light one to prove how out of shape I am! Still soar and feels great. So thats it, eat & count calories, carbs, fat and Protein. Eating about half a cup per meal. Drinking water every 30 minutes, but not 30 min before and after meals and get moving! Oh and I did buy Alex & Natalie's "The big book on lap band" just for support still reading ... Finally, I am down to 225.8 lbs! Its a tough journey but I chose the perfect tool. Thank you for reading and hope to hear some stories too. lula -
That's kind of the way I felt, I didn't die Keep up the great work, it does get easier. I started one week ago today and scheduled for surgery one week from today. Let's get this over with.

Yeah I agree with everyone that it is different for everyone! I had surgery on a Thursday and was back to teaching Middle School on Monday... and teaching middle school NOT having surgery is hard enough! It was hard the first few days and I would come home, take my tylenol with codeine and SLEEP! I would have loved to take 2 days off work just to give myself a bit more time but I am glad I had to get up so soon, I think it helped me recover quicker. I am now 3 weeks post and feel great! Only time I feel anything is when I sit and bend over I can feel my port a bit but it doesn't hurt anymore! YOU CAN DO IT! No matter how long you need to recover you can do it... and when you feel good you will be up and about! Best of luck!!

What does pre existing mean? I also have CIGNA and have yet to file, I am still trying get all of the paper work in from various Dr's. My psyc eval was on Aug 13 and she still has not sent the report to the surgeon. I am also waiting on my PCP to send the last three years of medical records to the surgeons office. If I had waited till the surgeons office requested them it seems that I would never get the surgery. I would have thought that they would start requesting things after my first visit so they would be ready to submitt it when I was done testing, but that was not the case. Oh well good luck and me know what else CIGNA has to say. Thanks

I went for my post op follow up and I lost 8lbs at there office. But at my primary office a total of 14lbs. In so happy , I thought maybe more but hey I'll take that. I was told to start eating mushy foods and I did. I had to meals today and I noticed in slightly sore. I might just have one meal tomorrow and shakes and yogurts the rest of the day. Good luck to those out there feeling my pain. So far it's worth it.

I'm a week post op and my dermabond (glue) is peeling of my incisions. Is this alright? They didn't say when it should come off when I was at my appointment Tuesday. I don't go back until May 4 to get a fill. Has anyone else had dermabond? When did it come off?
