Way to GO!! Hey just getting out of our old routine is a NSV!!! GOOD JOB!!!

I was banded about 6 weeks ago. Since then I've lost 24 pounds (35 total), gone back to the gym, and totally changed my diet. My husband and I are leaving on a week long cruise this Friday and I had NO summer clothes to wear that didn't look like stuff I'd owned for 10 years (because well... most of my stuff... it's old!) so I went shopping yesterday. My pant size has been pretty much the same forever because even if my hips are smaller, my thighs are still huge. Anyway. I usually buy 24s for pants, but yesterday I comfortably fit into 20s! That's almost an 18, and NORMAL stores carry 18s! My shirt size went down too, from a 22-24 to an 18-20 and I even got one 14-16 that looked cute on me. WOO HOO!

I just got home from my three month appointment and it looks like I will officially become a loser towards the end of July! I am pretty pumped up. I cant wait to start seeing some NSVs. This fall I am going to sit in a tree stand while hunting and not praying that the 300lb weight limit on the stand was just a suggestion. So far my biggest worry is the drain tube and catheter. But it will be worth it!

Ok, so I was getting dressed to run to the store with hubby, and pulled out a T-shirt. I looked at it and though, hmmm its a little small. It was one of my sons old t-shirts, a mens small, from way back when, not sure why I kept it, but there it was. Keep in mind that I have always worn a mens XL t-shirt, to hide the tummy etc. I said screw it and put it on. Yup, thats right folks it fit! Big smile about that one LOL

So I just decided to walk 2 miles. I'm in Florida and the weather is beautiful! As I'm walking my pants are falling down. So I reached for the drawstring in the front and WTHeck? no drawstring. So I felt around the back and realized I had my pants on backwards. No wonder the landscaping guys were looking at me funny huh. Well I see it as a NSV. What do you think?

So I am with my family at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I always now get 1 shredded chicken soft taco with grilled onions, peppers, and tomatoes..sans the cheese and lettuce. Only eat 1/4 of the tortilla and all of the meat and vegetables..way less than I used too and way more healthier..anyway..I digress... One of the gentlemen we see there often came over and said "Hola Skinny..I need to go do what you did..and rubs his belly". I turned around looking to see who he was talking to and he said " Yes ..I am talking to you!!" OMGoodness...skinny used in the same sentence as me? Shut up...don't get me wrong..I am nowhere near my goal..I have a lot more to go..but wow..it's working. I love my sleeve!

Good for you Vines! I think that we sometimes put too much emphasis on the amount of weight we lose, but the number on the scale really can be meaningless. Most of us start this process with similar goals-to be healthier, in better shape, smaller. What you have accomplished is exactly that!!!! I say good for you. We all also chose the band over RNY for our own reasons. This is not a race. You are doing great, and I bet accomplishing many of the NSV's that you had your mind set on when you began this journey. Keep sharing your success - you are truely a motivation!

I'm sitting here typing and it has dawned on me that my wedding ring is about ready to fly off my hand. Never before has it felt so loose. I have a scale victory to report as well. I went to the doctor yesterday and I was down another 5 lbs for a total of 37 lbs so far. I'm happy today.

Is anyone having success and enjoying their banded life?

write yourself a letter with your hopes and dreams for the future also remind yourself how well you are dong and anything positive no matter how small. The reason you want to write the letter is to remind yourself when you want to give up how well you are doing now. Start keeping a list of NSV's (Non Scale Victories) -
Congratulations! Amazing NSV! Well it sorta is a scale victory but not at the same time! Either way, you'll take it!

Hi all! Ive seen people posting about non-scale victories, and just wanted to have a post where people can shout out about their NSV's! My Top 5 NSV's so far are............drumroll please 5. Being able to bend over to tie my shoe to walk. (Me and walking USED to be an oxymoron!) 4. Being motivated to walk at the mall. 3. Having more energy in general. 2. Not having my wedding ring cut off my circulation, it actually spins around on my finger now! and my number 1 NSV so far to date...... 1. Sitting down to go potty and realizing I just pulled my scrub pants down AND THEY WERE TIED!!!!!!!!

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?
Djmohr replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in The Gals' Room
I love Victoria's Secret. As I was losing I had the ability to hang out mostly in yoga wear as I am not currently working. A pair of yoga pants can fit you for a long time. I found that VS tops however were a different issue for me and honestly their sizes can fit differently. I wear some larges that are too large and some larges that are too small. I was ordering a lot of their stuff on line and refused to take it back knowing I would likely fit into it in the coming month. Dumping lane Bryant for me was the best NSV ever. I used to hate clothes shopping and now I love to try on things just because I can. LOL. Also I found that if I buy clothing from anywhere, I tend to not return if it is too big or too small so trying things on really is the optimal way to purchase for us. I have found the Calvin Klein and Anne Klein clothing fits me fantastic and I love their fashion sense. There I know if I buy an 8 Jeans or a 10 slacks they will fit. Or if I buy a top in a large it will fit just right. They seem to be consistent. I have never had a size goal but never in a million years did I think I would go from a 24/26 to an 8. I cannot imagine what it will be like following my Abdominalplasty! Already with tops following my arm lift I can see I may have to go to a medium. -
Korilynn ~ Awesome NSV!! I'm sure you feel and look great! I've been wearing clothes from the smaller sizes in my closet (I'm still trying not to spend a whole on new clothes just yet). It feels both awesome and odd to pull on jeans that I distinctly remember not being able to wear comfortably and now have them be so baggy. LoL. Congrats again! JPT ~ How are you doing? Are you able to eat better? What's your favorite Protein drink? I'm always looking for new ones, since I get bored of the same old things. I still drink Lean Body for Her (chocolate is my favorite), Muscle Milk Light (chocolate), and Click Mocha, but I bought some RTD (ready to drink) Premier Protein shakes to have on hand at work, since my days lately have been INSANE -- I'm not crazy about them, but they aren't the worst and their counts are good. Plus, as RTD shakes go they were fairly inexpensive (about $16 per dozen at Sam's Club) -- 30 g protein, 3 g fat, 5 g carbs, 3 g Fiber, and 160 calories. I try to drink one shake a day (usually replacing Breakfast or lunch) and do meals for the other days. Since my second fill, I'm having more mini-stuck episodes (you know that feeling when you've taken too big a bite and it sits in your chest). I haven't thrown up, but just get up and walk around taking sips of Water until it goes down. Totally a horrible feeling. Question for you all -- do you eat only 3 meals a day or do you snack? I find on days when I work out hard, I get a bit hungry afterwards -- so I have a shake or a small snack (low carb crackers with cheese, Protein Bar, etc.). My doctor really doesn't want his patients to snack, but there are days when I think I need it -- and I'm still adhering to 1200 calories a day as best as I can (some days a little under and some a little over). Also, any of you low carbing? Hope everybody is doing well! Keep in touch, and have a great day!

Korilynn ~ How did your fill go, and how are you feeling -- more restriction or about the same? You are doing great! I am going in for my second fill next week -- my doctor is pretty conservative, so I'll probably get 1 cc (same as last time). Give or take a pound or two, I'm sitting on a plateau. I've been really diligent about sticking to 1200 calories and at least 65 grams of Protein per day, and exercising at least 30 minutes every day (I try for 60, but life sometimes gets in the way with my work schedule and the kids schedules). What kind of work outs are you doing? I'm walking/slow jogging either outside or on the treadmill and taking zumba classes. If I can get over my personal phobia of bathing suits :scared: , I would like to try swimming since it gets super hot and humid where I live. Erynkkgrl ~ Hi! I haven't noticed any restriction changes closer to AF arriving, but I do notice the Water gain which comes and goes quickly with it. Is your port angled? Did your doctor install it? I've heard that they can sometimes twist. Loozer2b ~ You're doing great -- congrats on the NSVs! I love hearing stuff like that from my fellow bandsters! I hear you on the busy family schedules -- sometimes I think my kids have a busier social life than I do -- and they are still really pretty young. LoL. Do you think you've hit your sweet spot? With this last fill, I felt like I had almost less restriction than before the fill -- sometimes it's almost like I don't have a band, and then I won't chew enough and I'll have a moment where the food goes down slowly and uncomfortably...KWIM? How are the rest of you doing? I hope everyone is well!

Had an AWESOME NSV last night. I had ordered myself 2 pairs of my favorite jeans. I've been wearing a 22, so I ordered one pair size 22 and one pair of size 20. Well, it looks like the 22's will be returned because the 20's FIT! YAY! I've gone from pants size 24 sometimes 26 down to a 20!!! So excited about it! I'm also down to a 1x top - I used to wear a 3x top! I just had to share!

Someone explain the logistics, PLEASE!
vinesqueen replied to lovebugg1026's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There sure seems to be a rash of this going around. I almost quit because I wasn't losing and I thought I should have been. I felt terrible and actually had a temper tantrum... So, instead of tracking my weight (I'll not be getting on a scale until my next doctor's appointment...) Instead, I'm tracking all my NSVs (Non Scale Victories) http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8943 since I have no scale victories lately. Tracking these helps me keep focused and on track. -
I made it to the top of a mountain trail today, 3.2 miles to top and back. Approximately 1,500 feet in elevation. I had to stop 5 times just to rest on occasion but I made it. The last time I did this was 24 years ago. Last summer I wrote down why I wanted to lose weight and being able to hike to the top of this trail was one of those goals.

Well, I'm a dummy. I've seen the acronym NSV several times here and I still don't know what it means. Can someone 'splain me?

Since I was sleeved 4/3 and have lost 39# so far ..I went way back into my closet..just to try on some clothes that I thought may fit. Of course I thought they were the same size I have always wore for the past 7 years....I tried them on and was pleased...yes these fit...but to my surprise..they are a size smaller!!!!!!!! I realized I have not worn these since my daughter was born 11 years ago!!!!! Thank you my lovely sleeve ..I am feeling better everyday! LoL..I always knew I would get bak into them!

Ok, this may not be important to some, but I did a summer sault today with my teenage girls. I landed in on point. I have not done that or even attemted it in over 20 yrs. Im 34 yrs old and I was outside flipping and jumping with my kids. WOW. cant describe that feeling to be able to play with my children like this. Its almost euphoric. What a blessing. Glory to God

Another NSV I thought of today. I haven't asked my husband to rub my feet, or my back since about 3 weeks after surgery! They don't hurt anymore! 28 lbs down & 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, my back may hurt a little during the day, but not like it did before, and my feet certainly don't hurt like they used to!

Awesome NSV, congrats! I've always been scared to try one lol

NSV - Shopping at a Regular Store
Sajijoma replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations on your NSV! I just reached a point where I can buy clothes in stores with a plus size dept and it's exciting! I've been reduced to buying online and accepting whatever could fit for so long, that it's now so much fun to go to Lane Byrant or Nordstroms and walk in and get to choose things that look good on me or make me feel good! I also just made it to zulily sizes 22/24 so now I have a new favorite online store. such a big change from the 32/34 I was wearing in July! -
I'm so thankful for this site to be able to hear about everyone else's progress and experiences. It has definitely helped me though a lot of times especially in the first couple of weeks after surgery. I'm just over 2 months out from my surgery. I have those moments when I wonder if I've made enough progress or if I'm not doing well enough. There's no real guidebook to having weight loss surgery. I keep reminding myself to look at the positive changes since surgery. Yesterday I had an exciting NSV when I got to buy a plain XL shirt and some skinny jeans. Those moments are so exciting and always seem to catch me by surprise. I find a lot of times I don't really see the changes in my body when I look in the mirror. Looking at pictures makes a big difference. I have my first set of progress pics attached. The picture on the right was just taken in December 2016. I was wearing a size 24 pant and 3XL shirt. The picture on the right was taken yesterday. I had on size 18 jeans and XL shirt.
