    Calling all A11s!!

Sounds like we all getting fills now, finally! I am getting my 4th teeny tiny .25 cc. fill tomorrow but I do feel like I am getting close to the green zone. My appetite is getting less and I get full faster which is a good thing. It still makes no sense to me how we eat 900-1000 calories a day and are not loosing tons of weight. That's normal in our situation I guess but it sure can be frustrating. Catherine, I hope that fill goes well for you and your weight loss continues. Chick, keep us posted. Hoe are you doing now? Jess, chicken is not good to me either. Ms lady, let us know how it goes. Cake girl, have that appetizer, you can do it and stay on program. It is so hard to watch others eat isn't it? Bobrocky, maybe saltines explode when they go down. LOL Glad you are feeling some restriction. Hope the next time it goes down easier. Ctarintina, 30 lbs is amazing. Keep up the good work. Caryn, good job. Keep it up. Helathywoman, I can't wait to see those 180's. Good job. Did anyone get much snow or loose their electricity? My youngest lives in NY in Sunnyside and they got a few inches. Chich, I thought of you. Stay warm. I had a few NSV's today at church. 3 people asked me how I was loosing weight and said I looked good. I'm at 19 lbs and I've always heard it takes at least 15 lbs for anybody to notice. I said exercise and counting calories, which is true. I have not told many people yet about my lapband. I will when I loose a lot more weight. I just don't want people watching me and asking how I am doing or like some of your experiences of asking why I have not lost more weight. How is everybody else dealing with telling people about your lapband? Keep those reports coming about your fills, unfills and victories. You never know when it's just the thing someone else needed to hear to help them. Have a great week, stay warm and on program. We can do this! Blessings, GG
  2. Congratulations Trish! I will get the results on my first A1C since surgery on Tuesday. I am really excited to see as my last was 8.1 taking 300 units of insulin daily!!!! With my VERY low carb diet I have cut my insulin to about 90 units a day!! Doc isn't sure I'll ever turn it completely around - but a girl can dream can't she? My big NSV this weekend is that I shopped til I dropped Saturday and Sunday and did not step foot in the plus size section. Not everything fit, however I managed to put a pretty good dent in my pocketbook!! So happy!
  3. It's been 5 months since my surgery I lost almost 50 pounds. Everyone at work has been commenting on how good I look. I have been buying lots of clothes because I am a lot smaller and I love it! Last night I wentto dinner and I put on a pair of jean jeggings (before these same jeggings gave me a muffin top and now they were loose on me). I wore boots and a cute long top with my daughter's black belt-I looked in the mirror and thought "Damn I look good!" lol It feels SO good feeling sexy again (even if I am 48 yrs. old). For all of you struggling through bandster hell I will tell you that it's totally worth it! I wentthrough all the self doubt and worrying if I would be one of the ones that just doesn't lose much with lapband and things really didn't start to get moving until 3 months after my surgery. I am 4.5 in a 10cc band and I am rocking the band! Am I perfect-no way, but it's not about being perfect it's about constantly reflecting, readjusting, and moving forward! I can't wait to buy a Christmas dress for my husband's Christmas party! Life is good!!!!!!!!!
  4. I had a medical NSV this week. A1C went from 7.4 in June (Pre-surgery) to 5.8 in October. According to my lab report 5.7 and lower is normal. Good bye Diabetes.
  5. I can't think of any new NSVs for me lately. Many of the same old ones keep happening and I don't think I'll ever get tired of them. I do love reading everyone else's NSVs though. It helps me stay motivated and makes me happy for everyone.
  6. NSV! Bought a winter coat and it wasn't plus sized! WooHoo! And might I just say, I look d*mn good in it!

  7. I know what you are talking about. I lost the weight and I do see it, but I don't. So, I can't band my Brain ya no ? So I am going with the numbers I see in the size of cloths, the NSV's that happen through my journey, (LIKE TODAY WAS THE FIRST TIME I CROSSED MY LEGS IN YEARS !) Giving my cloths to someone else that needs them as I lose weight, looking forward to onderland, and every now and then, a glance in a Full Length Mirror, and I find myself saying Dam Shirley, your starting to look better. That's the critic in me, never good enough for me, So I still keep working on this for life. Someday I might look in the Mirror, and see that skinny person, but I guess I will just keep working at it, and have to wait and see. So don't let it get you down, cause your not alone at all. Shirley.
  8. I sat down in a Recliner, and instinctively went to Cross my Legs. They CROSSED ! I have not done that in years ! Guess I got some catching up to do.

    AWWWWESOME NSV CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Your most exciting NSV

There have been many many many! But I'd have to say my very best NSV was when I actually completed running my first real 5K event. I never stopped to walk any of it. That was the best feeling I've ever experienced. Especially since barely one year ago I was scheduled for my first of two knee surgeries. I love my sleeve!!!

    NSV shout outs

Okay, I have a few NSVs to post. 1. I am able to wear jeans again...and the pair I bought two weeks ago are already loose, even right out of the dryer. I had several pair of a major brand (Gi*tano) that are cut small, which all now fit me again. They are two sizes smaller than the ones I bought, too. 2. Saw hubby (we're separated) a few days ago. When I got out of the car, he blurted out "You look great!" That made my week! 3. Stopped to get gas last night and some young hunky guy was playing with the windshield washing "thingie". When I asked if I could use it, he said Nope and washed my windshield himself. Went inside the store to get a bottle of Water and another cutie made eye contact and appreciative noises. I'd forgotten how nice a little bit of stranger appreciation feels! 4. Saw the PCP today and HE made a comment about my weight loss, both in reference to how I look physically and how it has affected my walking ability. The first time he met me, I was barely able to walk the length of his office. Now I park at the far end of his parking lot, which is right outside his office window. He was impressed that I walked the length of the parking lot and around the building to the front. Nowadays, I'm leaving the closer spots to the "old folks". 5. Getting to wear shirts that were formerly too small for my body gives me a whole new wardrobe of stylin' clothes.
  12. Looking back over the past 17 months - remembering this journey of mine, from the time I attended the siminar in April of 2010 - I'd say THE most exciting NSV I've had was seeing my collar bone!!!!!!! Wow, it was so cool, and I still like seeing it in pictures! Hip bones were neat too, but realizing I have a real collar bone has been by far, the best NSV. Second place is the day I bought a pair of jeans at the GAP - size 4!!! I have 4's, 6's and a size 8!! I can wear the 6 when I'm having a "fat" day - but the size 8, I haven't worn them since January! I'm curious as to what the most exciting NSV has been for the rest of y'all....c'mon, share!!
  13. I have a black tie event to attend on Nov. 12th and I brought my dress (bought in the summer) to be altered since it takes a couple weeks for alternations. The dress had to be taken in 5 inches!! The seamstress said,"Lady, you should have bought 2 sizes smaller". Super excited. I'm having them alter it tight so it will still fit in a couple weeks. Yay!

    1st NSV in a while!

Yay!! Great job Jenn. Yeah, I think it may be time for you to move out of Lane B and into the regular sized clothes stores. This is a great NSV. Ms. Lady, I am watching the clearance racks at stores now for 18, 16 and 14s. Just the other day at Stein Mart I got a cute spring/summer dress marked down from $68 to $3.95!!!! in a size 14. I have no doubt I will be out of my 22s and into a 14 by next spring/summer. It is the only way I can figure out how to clothe myself on my fixed income while moving through the sizes. I am trying to only buy a few things in each size and shopping only the clearance racks. I hope when I get to each size I won't be in them long enough to need much.

    1st NSV in a while!

@ Jenn1214 congrats on the NSV!!! @ roeroe I absolutely agree plus size clothing is expensive ( I can't afford to remain fat.....lol). I often think about when my size actually does change (its taking forever to go down even one size) how I am going to afford to buy new cloths, as I am currently in a financial bind. I think they charge us so much because of the extra material?!?!?!?
  16. Today I decided that I needed some new jeans and bras because my old ones were too big, so I stopped in Lane Bryant since I had a coupon. The saleswoman was very nice and helpful, but I was having a heck of a time finding my size (I'm a 14 now). As I was trying on a coat, she looked at me and said "You know, you're going to be too small for Lane Bryant pretty soon". I couldn't help but smile!
  17. Hello everybody! Things are going ok here. Im at 64 lbs lost but I havent lost anything in a few weeks. I know its my fault- I am so addicted to sweets right now its not even funny. I HAVE to stop eating that stuff and get back to my low carb eating again. But I do have an appt on the 7th for another fill since I am able to eat more than I should. I think I only need a small fill so Im looking forward to getting back to things. I am having some acid reflux issues though. Are any of you dealing with it and if so what meds do you take for it? On a positive note I have had several NSV's! Im fitting into clothes that I havent worn in 6+ years! AND I saw a friend this past weekend who I havent seen since last December or January and she told me that she didnt recognize me because I had lost so much weight. That was an AWESOME feeling! Motivates me so much more now! Anyways...hope all is well with everybody!
  18. Well it's COLD up here in Northern, Michigan. So,, I thought I would try on a pair of Corduroy pants to stay warm. I tried them on about a month ago, and they were to small. Well I wanted to see how it was coming along ? They were so lose, that you needed a belt to hold them up. So on goes the Belt.... It's to BIG for my waist, YES ! So a few holes put into it and I am wearing the pants, and walking to a Mirror, But I hear silence as I walk.... My Thighs are NO LONGER ! slapping against each other,,,, AMEN ! I thought that day would never come. So that's a few Good ones I think ! If anyone asks me "DO YOU THINK THIS BAND REALLY WORKS ?" I would say HE!! YEAH ! :woot::::woot:::woot::::woot:

    Aha Moment

If you get a chance, write down a long list of your "wants" that relate to the band and getting healthier. I did one before my surgery, and I can not tell you how amazing it felt as I lost weight to check all of those things I was looking forward to off my list as I they became part of my reality. Having a standard bath towel wrap around with room to spare was an NSV that I would not have wanted to miss noting! I have just one more to check off... not being a fat bride... so hopefully my BF will step it up sometime soon! Hee hee... Seriously though, I found that list really helpful (I did it as a pro/con list to use when I was having second thoughts about surgery) and hope that, if you do one, you'll get as much out of it as I did. Here's a link to mine if you want to take a look. Congratulations on your Aha moment! And, best wishes for much success!! Best, Catherine

How are the jewels of June doing

Hello Jewels! I'm such a dork! I had not seen this threat before! At 4/12 months out I am doing great. I've resumed my life pretty normally. It's included travel, family reunions and celebrations. I am working out and staying active. I feel well, energetic - which is good. I've had lots of stalls but I have come to accept that this is how my body seems to do things because at some point I also get these big drops. Overall, I am thrilled with my sleeve. I am right about to get out of the 190's!!!!! I am at 191 this morning!!! Maybe I can do it by the end of the month!!!! (In 5 days?!) I'll be working out extra hard this week to "help my body" along :-) Hope everyone is doing well. I love reading the progress posts, especially pics!!! I have to post some myself. I also love reading the NSV's. It so inspiring when I see people changing -- their lives really!!! Best to all of you!!! I'm sure I will "run into you" in the boards!!!!!
  21. You look absolutely amazing!!!! Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. Congrats on an ultimate NSV.

    Banded yesterday

I felt regret from days 2-6 (worst gas pain of my life!) I thought i was going to DIE getting in/out of bed and having to sleep on my back! Today is day 14 and I feel awesome. In fact.. My daily text to the four friends that will have LB nov-dec-jan was this... NSV!! My bra is on the tightest hook and getting loose!! I don't have to unzip the 12's to get them over my hips! Down 18.5lbs since pre-op diet started!
  25. Love it! Congrats on your NSV! Very funny scene you set, there, B-52. Karen
