    NSV shout outs

Okay, I have a few NSVs to post. 1. I am able to wear jeans again...and the pair I bought two weeks ago are already loose, even right out of the dryer. I had several pair of a major brand (Gi*tano) that are cut small, which all now fit me again. They are two sizes smaller than the ones I bought, too. 2. Saw hubby (we're separated) a few days ago. When I got out of the car, he blurted out "You look great!" That made my week! 3. Stopped to get gas last night and some young hunky guy was playing with the windshield washing "thingie". When I asked if I could use it, he said Nope and washed my windshield himself. Went inside the store to get a bottle of Water and another cutie made eye contact and appreciative noises. I'd forgotten how nice a little bit of stranger appreciation feels! 4. Saw the PCP today and HE made a comment about my weight loss, both in reference to how I look physically and how it has affected my walking ability. The first time he met me, I was barely able to walk the length of his office. Now I park at the far end of his parking lot, which is right outside his office window. He was impressed that I walked the length of the parking lot and around the building to the front. Nowadays, I'm leaving the closer spots to the "old folks". 5. Getting to wear shirts that were formerly too small for my body gives me a whole new wardrobe of stylin' clothes.
  2. Looking back over the past 17 months - remembering this journey of mine, from the time I attended the siminar in April of 2010 - I'd say THE most exciting NSV I've had was seeing my collar bone!!!!!!! Wow, it was so cool, and I still like seeing it in pictures! Hip bones were neat too, but realizing I have a real collar bone has been by far, the best NSV. Second place is the day I bought a pair of jeans at the GAP - size 4!!! I have 4's, 6's and a size 8!! I can wear the 6 when I'm having a "fat" day - but the size 8, I haven't worn them since January! I'm curious as to what the most exciting NSV has been for the rest of y'all....c'mon, share!!
  3. I have a black tie event to attend on Nov. 12th and I brought my dress (bought in the summer) to be altered since it takes a couple weeks for alternations. The dress had to be taken in 5 inches!! The seamstress said,"Lady, you should have bought 2 sizes smaller". Super excited. I'm having them alter it tight so it will still fit in a couple weeks. Yay!

    1st NSV in a while!

Yay!! Great job Jenn. Yeah, I think it may be time for you to move out of Lane B and into the regular sized clothes stores. This is a great NSV. Ms. Lady, I am watching the clearance racks at stores now for 18, 16 and 14s. Just the other day at Stein Mart I got a cute spring/summer dress marked down from $68 to $3.95!!!! in a size 14. I have no doubt I will be out of my 22s and into a 14 by next spring/summer. It is the only way I can figure out how to clothe myself on my fixed income while moving through the sizes. I am trying to only buy a few things in each size and shopping only the clearance racks. I hope when I get to each size I won't be in them long enough to need much.

    1st NSV in a while!

@ Jenn1214 congrats on the NSV!!! @ roeroe I absolutely agree plus size clothing is expensive ( I can't afford to remain fat.....lol). I often think about when my size actually does change (its taking forever to go down even one size) how I am going to afford to buy new cloths, as I am currently in a financial bind. I think they charge us so much because of the extra material?!?!?!?
  6. Today I decided that I needed some new jeans and bras because my old ones were too big, so I stopped in Lane Bryant since I had a coupon. The saleswoman was very nice and helpful, but I was having a heck of a time finding my size (I'm a 14 now). As I was trying on a coat, she looked at me and said "You know, you're going to be too small for Lane Bryant pretty soon". I couldn't help but smile!
  7. Hello everybody! Things are going ok here. Im at 64 lbs lost but I havent lost anything in a few weeks. I know its my fault- I am so addicted to sweets right now its not even funny. I HAVE to stop eating that stuff and get back to my low carb eating again. But I do have an appt on the 7th for another fill since I am able to eat more than I should. I think I only need a small fill so Im looking forward to getting back to things. I am having some acid reflux issues though. Are any of you dealing with it and if so what meds do you take for it? On a positive note I have had several NSV's! Im fitting into clothes that I havent worn in 6+ years! AND I saw a friend this past weekend who I havent seen since last December or January and she told me that she didnt recognize me because I had lost so much weight. That was an AWESOME feeling! Motivates me so much more now! Anyways...hope all is well with everybody!
  8. Well it's COLD up here in Northern, Michigan. So,, I thought I would try on a pair of Corduroy pants to stay warm. I tried them on about a month ago, and they were to small. Well I wanted to see how it was coming along ? They were so lose, that you needed a belt to hold them up. So on goes the Belt.... It's to BIG for my waist, YES ! So a few holes put into it and I am wearing the pants, and walking to a Mirror, But I hear silence as I walk.... My Thighs are NO LONGER ! slapping against each other,,,, AMEN ! I thought that day would never come. So that's a few Good ones I think ! If anyone asks me "DO YOU THINK THIS BAND REALLY WORKS ?" I would say HE!! YEAH ! :woot::::woot:::woot::::woot:

    Aha Moment

If you get a chance, write down a long list of your "wants" that relate to the band and getting healthier. I did one before my surgery, and I can not tell you how amazing it felt as I lost weight to check all of those things I was looking forward to off my list as I they became part of my reality. Having a standard bath towel wrap around with room to spare was an NSV that I would not have wanted to miss noting! I have just one more to check off... not being a fat bride... so hopefully my BF will step it up sometime soon! Hee hee... Seriously though, I found that list really helpful (I did it as a pro/con list to use when I was having second thoughts about surgery) and hope that, if you do one, you'll get as much out of it as I did. Here's a link to mine if you want to take a look. Congratulations on your Aha moment! And, best wishes for much success!! Best, Catherine

How are the jewels of June doing

Hello Jewels! I'm such a dork! I had not seen this threat before! At 4/12 months out I am doing great. I've resumed my life pretty normally. It's included travel, family reunions and celebrations. I am working out and staying active. I feel well, energetic - which is good. I've had lots of stalls but I have come to accept that this is how my body seems to do things because at some point I also get these big drops. Overall, I am thrilled with my sleeve. I am right about to get out of the 190's!!!!! I am at 191 this morning!!! Maybe I can do it by the end of the month!!!! (In 5 days?!) I'll be working out extra hard this week to "help my body" along :-) Hope everyone is doing well. I love reading the progress posts, especially pics!!! I have to post some myself. I also love reading the NSV's. It so inspiring when I see people changing -- their lives really!!! Best to all of you!!! I'm sure I will "run into you" in the boards!!!!!
  11. You look absolutely amazing!!!! Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful. Congrats on an ultimate NSV.

    Banded yesterday

I felt regret from days 2-6 (worst gas pain of my life!) I thought i was going to DIE getting in/out of bed and having to sleep on my back! Today is day 14 and I feel awesome. In fact.. My daily text to the four friends that will have LB nov-dec-jan was this... NSV!! My bra is on the tightest hook and getting loose!! I don't have to unzip the 12's to get them over my hips! Down 18.5lbs since pre-op diet started!
  15. Love it! Congrats on your NSV! Very funny scene you set, there, B-52. Karen
  16. Great NSV. And great storytelling -I want to join your club - and use the men's locker room!
  17. Hello future sleevers; Sounds like you are all preop and have the jitters. You are normal in your feelings but that does not mean you should be backing out or rescheduling unless you have not done your homework or do not trust your surgeon? Do you trust your surgeon? You understand there are some risks, limited risks. Do you know that WLS is for you? If you answer yes, read on. Know why you are doing this VSG surgery. Write down the top 10 reasons you are doing this surgery so that you can look back on hard days ahead. Yes, this journey is not without bumps or a thought of "what have I done." I will start you off and you all are to add another reason. VSG surgery is for me becasue: 1. I was overweight - I had tried so many other diets and could never keep the weight off for long periods of time. Yes, I really tried too. 2. I wanted to be healthy for me and healthy to enjoy my family. My kids hug me so tight and I can play on the floor with kids easily now. 3. I wanted to walk up stairs without huffing and panting 4. I wanted to wear a skirt or dress without shorts underneath so I do not get a rash on my thighs 5. I wanted to be happier when I look in the mirror and not have to listen to the angry voice of "such a pretty face, if you could only lose some weight" 6. I wanted to reduce my risk from future co-morbitities, cancers and other issues of overweight people 7. I knew I can do this, if given a fighting chance. I am willing to change and I can conquer my bad habits to ensure maintanance weight goal. 8. No, this is not cheating - I need this surgery to save me from me. Helped me be a winner I know I am inside. Let me look like I felt deep down, beautiful. Others now see me as I was always, if they had taken the time to know me. First impressions are so much easier now. 9. I want to have better chances at so many things on vacation or dream about doing someday. A helicoptor tour (weight limit of 250), a horse back ride, a roller coaster, a ballon ride, skydive, a bike ride on the beach. Wear a normal bathing suit on a public beach without shorts and a tshirt on all the time. 10. I wanted to not hide in the back of pictures or be the one always taking the picture. Lastly - scroll down and read the NSV (non scale victory) section to inspire you. Good luck my furture sleevers. I have no regrets.
  18. I am loving this.... you looked beautiful before the sleeve, and I agree with the others, you look stunning now... congrats on a brillaint NSV!!
  19. I was asked by the hospital where I had surgery (Summit Medical Center in Van Buren, AR) to do a photoshoot for a marketing campaign to promote the WLS program. I don't have the real pics yet, but someone snapped a cell phone pic fom the side. This was a huge NSV for me. I felt like a model and it was really fun! I recommend everyone doing something like this for yourselves. You could go to Portrait Innovations or even WalMart portrait studios for very little $, but we all have SO much to be proud of! A few other pics.... My FIRST 5k!! Two legs in one! My new size SMALL workout pants! (never thought I would be in a small anything!) The before shot for comparison sake...
  20. When I was first Banded 10/31/06. I was so happy that I spread the word, because I was know 1/2 the size, and loving it. They came out in Groves ! Can't you do it yourself ? Why do you have to have Surgery, don't you have any willpower ? I heard it all. I was sorry that I opened my mouth, because of the peoples ignorance about the band. Mostly these were people that I worked with. and loved the fact that I started to looked so good, (SO THEY SAID) but then would stick the knife in my back. So this time around, I told no one ! It's none of their business how I live, and what I do. People are just amazed at the weight loss, and approve it. So they see me in stores every now and then, and see the difference, at then compared to the last time they seen me. So a lot of NSV's going on by the General Public, and Friends. I am Happy when I see the Cloths size change. That does it for me. I would say don't worry about it, because they really don't know what they are talking about. Your the one that has to tie those shoes (never will forget that..) So you know what must be done. They will get use to it, and you will also find out who your friends are. Shirley.
  21. NSV: I bought and rocked 3-inch heels... a year and 100lbs ago that would've lasted less than 5mins before ankle swelling, knee and back pain and several days of charlie horses and regret and quite possibly a broken heel.lol No more boring flats & Im loving the mall again! That is all! ;)

    Calling all A11s!!

Yeaaaaaah for your NSV! I bet by Monday you will enter Onederland! We had surgery the same day and now you are close on my heels. I was 199.4 when we left town Thurs. morning. I've been walking and eating well and drinking so I hope the numbers have moved come Tues morning when we return. My friend and I went shopping again today and I bought a LARGE, do you hear me not XL, jacket for church. It was exciting. Keep us posted on how the fill goes. Blessings, GG

    Calling all A11s!!

Thanks for the welcome back GG. I did good today, I tracked all of my food on myfitnesspal.com app I have on my phone, and I exercised for an hour. Now, if I can keep up the exercise I think I can get to onederland (crossing my fingers) by next week. I was 200.4 this morning, I am SO close...I am trying not to weigh everyday, but I just want to see the 100s so bad! My second fill is Tuesday, I am getting excited, it will be under fluro again Congrats on your NSV! I had one yesterday, I fit into an old shirt I haven't been able to fit into for more than a year...my husband actually thought I had bought a new shirt

    Calling all A11s!!

So good to hear from you Caryn. We are all happy you are OK and just busy. I have time since I am retired so I hope it was OK for me to try and keep things going. I feel the same way, a little restriction and it usually passes fairly quickly if something gets stuck until yesterday with my first PB. That was not fun but over fast. healthywoman it was like throwing up but no nasty taste and not too much because I didn't eat that much. I found that when I coughed it finally came right up. When you hurt that much you'll do most anything to get it to stop. Sorry to be so graphic but if it has not happened to you yet maybe this will help if it does. Yes, I think you had a NSV with your pants! Congratulations. Blessings, GG
  25. It's not silly at all- that's a great NSV- your shrinking! I haven't had an nsv for a while- went on vacation for 2 weeks and am having trouble getting back on track, both with eating right and excersise. Today, so far so good, so hopefully this is the start. I will hit the gym in the morning.
