    Obsessing over cheating

I could have written that, so I do know that fear. I have been doing really well, but lately I can eat a lot more than I could a month ago. I also know that I'm about 10 weeks post op, and I rarely was able to do well on a diet longer than this. I worry that I'll always be one who just "sticks something in my mouth". It would be super easy to do! There is no way this surgery will work for me without ME doing the work. I read that some people on here will lose no matter what, but I know for me, that's not the case. Thanks for the honest post.
  3. I'm 9 days post-op but I've already dropped 10 pounds and my body doesn't feel as firm as it used to (specifically my butt) today is my first post op doctor visit but in case in not cleared to exercise what mild routine would you suggest?
  4. @@KaiserKid i am 5'3 short (higher end of petite) when/if i bought from womens area, jeans, blouses etc they would be too long for me to wear being short and "heavy" i aways would look bigger because my size (width looked big) i'm still 5'3 short but i feel 10 ft tall!!! that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!! good luck kathy
  5. I'm glad to know this is normal. I was sleeved 10/1, and I've done almost nothing but sleep and try to get my fluids/protein in. I've tried to get out and walk a few times when I can as well -- but even last week, taking bites of yogurt exhausted me completely. It was so annoying, because I felt like I was failing somehow. I'm hoping that my energy levels start going up more soon, the past two days have been not too terrible, but still more exhaustion than I would like!

    Flying 4 weeks after surgery

I had my surgery on Feb. 18 and flew on Feb. 29. The surgeon had said it should be safe to fly 7-10 days after. For me, that flight was torture. I could not even sip Water. It was so bad that I cancelled my flight home and won't be flying back until the 17th. I'll get my first fill on the 18th and then have another flight scheduled for the 20th. The surgeon said that I shouldn't have any problems after the fill as long as the nurse filling is careful not to have any air in the needle. He said that people have had issues with flights when there is air in the band which can get there during a fill if the nurse is not careful. I guess I'll know for sure when I fly on the 20th. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
  7. It took me about 5 week to finally feel I had my energy back, Each day was better than before, but I could sleep 10 hrs a day and the weekends forget. Love your body enough to let it rest and heal. It is working overtime to heal.. Work on getting your protein in as well as your fluids and your vitamins. It helps, but it is just you healing.
  8. I am freaking out. I am 6 days post-op (9/10) and have been taking care of myself and wearing my binding. Well this morning I noticed 2 little drops of pus or blood on my binding. I have the liquid stitches so I can see my scars and am scared that it is the start of an infection at the port site. ARGH!! Nervous and super scared of corrosion. Have any of you used antibiotics or mercurochrome (Sp?). I have left a message to the P.A. and just waiting but I am wigging!!

    Pre-op Diet starts....TODAY! Yay

I understand ur concern, but as u said, u did only a 3 day liquid diet, so u may not know how u would feel if u have to do a 8 or 10 days liquid only! You have no right to judge me! I did 100%fine until day 6, which is already unbelievable, because if i knew i was capable of sticking to a diet forever, i would never choosen surgery! I didnt cheat like some people do, eating a cheeseburger, or a plate full of Pasta, i ate a freaking can of tuna + tomato, staying half of my target allowed calories.. I know is not a excuse, but i truly didnt feel like i cracked my diet! I know after surgery i'll be able to follow it thru, as i'll be having a super smaller stomach, which will not make me hungry like i am now. Also, my post op diet is much easier than the pre-op, i have tons of salty things that i'll be allowed to after day 5, so, thanks for your concern, but im certain i can do the post op! I'm sorry if i sounded rude, but this is a support group, if i wanted to hear someone saying i wasn't ready, i had gone to some other place!

    12 hours till V-Day

They did not perform a leak test. They did send me home with a drain which I had for a week, Just had that removed Thursday, thank God. I can now wear normal clothes. I feel like I have been wearina a moo-moo for a week. There was a follow up after 1 week. Ny next appt is 1 month out, then 3 month, 6 month, 1 year anniversary then annually. Smart move going right for the VSG. I wish I had done the same. My wife has a friend getting a band in the next week or so. I would LOVE to tell her not to do it but she has her mind made up and I have to respect that. Keep in touch and let us know how you do. I am 10 days out, down 12 since surgery, back to work and feeling great.

    Pre-Pre-Op weight loss

I don't have a solid surgery date yet. I'm not on the "pre-op liquid diet" stage. So I'm kind of pre, pre-op as far as diet. I do want to lose about 25 more lbs before my surgery date. If I can make it to my mini-goal that means I will have 110 lbs to lose after my surgery. I'm not even sure if the 25 lbs will matter but I've set out on this mission and want to accomplish it. Any tips? What did you do to lose weight in the beginning? I've lost 10-13 lbs so far... 25 more to go!!

Did Adam and Eve have Bellybuttons?

Yes you are!:sneaky: I am very new to this sight and am newly banded, 7/10/09. I knew I needed God to help me even with this band. I am doing o.k. and have tried to stick the diet, but I'm sure you know( or maybe it's just me) that I always have to go over the limit, even if it's just a little. I have not had any fills yet, but I do have a little restriction, thank God! I would appreciate if we kept in touch, being that you're a christian and all. I am believing that God would break all those ties and roots and strongholds to food. THANKS AGAIN, GISELLE:thumbup:

    Slogging on

This is Day 10 of the pre-op liquid diet. I'm really struggling. I know it will work out for the best, but I'm literally counting days until I can have baby food . My RN daughter is so scared for me. But I keep telling her that she sees only the pathology, not the successes, and I plan to be one of the latter for sure. Twelve days till surgery and then she'll see I'm ok. Of course, she plans on going to the hosp. with me. My other 3 daughters feel just fine about it and every one of them is supportive. Funny thing. Well, not ha-ha, just odd. My husband just had a double hernia operation on Thurs. and he's supposed to go to the dr. for follow-up the same day as my surgery. Gotta call and see how we can work that out. I definitely want him there with me, if at all possible.
  16. For sure the chapstick, really appreciated the chapstick! did not feel like reading at all. Wish I had brought my own comfy pillow. sleeved 12-19-11

    Over 200lbs to loose

Welcome to the forums. Yeah, there are a few people who have lost over 150 pounds on here. I want to lose about 140 to 150 pounds myself - so far I've lost 19 since my surgery 3 weeks ago.

    Pain

I had this too, as well as pain when I drank something cold. Am 3 weeks post op and still do feel pain when drinking cold drinks. Take my advice and go slow when introducing foods. I've made the mistake of thinking my "baby stomach" could handle a few bites of Pasta, for example, and (not to be gross) it came up 10 minutes later!

Banded in Mexico, Living in New Jersey?

Hi - I am going to Mexico to have my surgery on 8/28 (Dr. Ortiz) I'm planning to have my fills in Southern New Jersey - there is a fill center in Mount Laurel (look up fillcenter.com) -- it's about 10 miles from Philly. If you're in Northern NJ a few good fill doctors are mentioned somewhere here in Manhattan who will take Mexico patients. Danielle

    Acid reflux

Ok I have had a busy couple of days trying out things. First the worst night I had before posting here was 10 episodes of acid reflux. The best was 7 episodes. After trying and changing teas, adding tums, and trying to stay pretty elevated before bed, I am down to 1 episode a night! ???????????????????????????????? Thank you everyone for your advice, and for the fact you wanted to help. FYI I ended up using lemon-ginger probiotic tea.
  21. I was sleeved on 10/6. I have bad reflux and I can feel it when I eat or not. It's all the time. I can swallow meds ok though. I love really cold sugar free koolaid. It has to come from the freezer with ice in it. Room temp is gross. Shakes are ok but since I'm in soft foods, I am doing a lot of chicken. The canned kind is great. I sip a lot but I want to guzzle. I think I'm dehydrated and constipated. TMI. Other than that, I'm ok. Was down 25 lbs from my last visit on Sept 18.

    Calling all October Sleevers

I was sleeved 10/13 and only had a one night stay. Very little nausea and minimal gas pain. I also had a hiatal hernia repair done at the same time. Just been able to tolerate protein drink last couple days and so close to getting all my water in. I have only lost 5 lbs since surgery, but learning how to change my lifestyle

    Calling all October Sleevers

Hi all. I had my revision sleeve on 10/16 from a band. I was only in the hospital 1 night, and it was very restless with the nurses pushing me to get up and move when I just wanted to sleep lol. My doc says clear liquids for the first week, then I can move on to protein shakes, milk, and cream soups. I am excited for that day! I had a hiatal hernia, which was the only complication, and made surgery take 3 hours. No reflux, but I have crazy gas pain in my shoulders. I can drink normally, it took a few days, but I am getting my 64 ozs in. I can walk easily now that I got some rest, it was hard in the hospital because I was just tired, but I can walk the kids to school and back, go around the block, even took a few trips to the grocery store. I lost about 10 lbs on the clear liquid preop diet, and about another 5 postop. I won't see my WLS until 4 weeks postop, so I'm hoping all continues to go well.

    When everyone else is drinking

That comes across pretty harsh. My friends would never question my choices, but a well meaning coworker, or the spouse of my husband's boss, might get a little noisy. I am only looking for and offering up ideas for people who want to be part of a festive occastion without alcohol. Maybe they dont want questions or maybe they just want some ideas for beverages other than water or tea. Sometimes its easier to carry the proverbial solo cup. HW 385 SW 359 CW 338 Sleeved 10/5/16
