    70 days... and counting!

Hi all  70 days to go, and after the last 7, they can't go fast enough. This past week it is confirmed that i have diabetes, hypertension and severe sleep apnoea. Not bad for someone that just thought they had a weight problem. I think tho, that i am very fortunate to have no had these diseases until the last while, and they they have been caught early on it seems. My lapband operation really can't come quickly enough from a health perspective for me. My G.P. and surgeon are not so concerned, assuring me these problems will almost certainly disappear once i have been banded and lost weight. All the medications i need are in place and i feel ok. I am not sure what i expected, but only the CPAP machine for the sleep apnoea bothers me. I am just trialling it, for this week and the nice feller will help me with my concerns after that. Speaking of which, it's late and i am back at work in the morning. So best, i go and get the gear on and try and get some rest. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for being there. Cya soon

    Work

I took 5 weeks. I didn't want to be around ppl with colds and other nasties that I could catch. I also take the train and bus to work and didn't want to risk getting bumped into. The first 2 weeks are exhausting. I was always dizzy and tired and remembering to drink all day and take my Protein and pills would have been difficult at work. I work in an office and sit all day too but even my dr said to stay home. It's just safer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Work

Had surgery on Tuesday, went back to work on Monday, but I'm a desk jockey and only work in my office 2 days a week. I was working from home on Friday the week of surgery. I really depends on what you do and how you heal.

  7. Wow!!!Congrats on the fast weight loss. I am one of the slow losers....I had my surgery last July and am down only 60 lbs. That's a bit slower than my surgeon wants me to lose, but he tries to adjust the band to where I can lose no more than 3 lbs or less than 1 pound a week. He really likes it when I lose 2 lbs a week. So I am going to have to go back for another fill soon. I have 7cc's in my 10cc band now and hope that the next fill gets me closer to the "sweet spot". I am really impressed with your will power and the weight loss. Don't think I could stand a whole pound of baby carrots, even though I like them a lot!!
  8. Dr. Tells me clear liquids for two weeks. So please tell me what this means? I am sipping water, crystal light, and flavored water and clear chicked broth Can't imagine doing this for 10 more days. Am weak, and dizzy and shaky. They tell me to get up and move around but I am too weak. Banded Sept 11
  9. im 3 weeks post op and I will I can eat anything.. only pureed food im eating is my Protein shake. I am able to keep protein meat down like grilled chicken, pork, and soft veggies. I eat fruit as in grapes I do get full I dont over eat. I have lost 10 ibs already. im just scared im overdoing it Sent from my SCH-I545 using LapBandTalk
  10. Well I'm a huge believer in tae bo, even before I had my surgery I was working out to the dvds and lost 35 pounds. That was about 2 years pre-op though and before I had a kid lol. But now post-op I'm doing tae bo 5 days a week or more and he has strength training embedded in the workouts with cardio. It's worth a try. It works wonders for me. I got tired of just the treadmill I felt like I was getting stuck in a endless routine, and also felt like I was not working all the parts of my body, even with incline like you said. Try it out, you will see results, I'm dripping with sweat even though I've been doing it for a while now, every time I finish I still feel like it's a great challenge for my body. :coolgleamA:

    This is SO hard !

Band 07 and Jennifer I had my RNY on Good Friday. I have been sick everyday for a whole month. During my first week check-up I had lose 14 pounds. The next week I was dizzy, exhausted, constipated, I was waiting for the new found energy. I was in the hospital for 5 days for dehydration. I was stuck in every spot in my arm looking for a vein for the IV and to get blood(one time I was stuck 8 times, because the IV came out ). I never realized it was so hard to drink Water.Eat and take pills wait 30 mins..drink water . Lets not even talk about attempting to get in all the Protein. I have also had my times when I cry and feel depressed. I guess I just needed to vent . Hopefully, we'll be feeling better soon and start to enjoy our journey.

    Hungry since surgery? 5%

The depression is probably not caused by feeling hunger, since depression is defined as sadness, lethargy and loss of will that has no discernible cause. If it were as simple as stimuli, the 21 lbs you've lost in the past few weeks should have you elated and ecstatic! I had a sleeve, not a bypass but my hunger didn't disappear overnight. The liquids phases were especially tough as I was missing the satiety and chewing from eating proper foods. If you're feeling depressed, I would recommend talking to a mental health care professional about finding a therapist. No amount of "cheer up!" Is going to help with depression.

    This is SO hard !

I had the RNY on 04/13/15. My doctor set all the right expectations for someone who hasn't actually had the surgery. My expectations were off because my friend had her RNY in August 2014 and she was back to work in 4 days. I planned on giving myself 2 weeks. Now 3 weeks post-surgery and I'm still home. I have had severe fatigue, dizziness, nausea and trouble with hydration and Protein. I was told 64 oz of Fluid, but I've found to maximize my energy and avoid dehydration associated nausea and vomiting, I actually need 80oz per day. The first few soft things I tried did not stay down. I can't eat eggs at all. I've had no hunger at all (or cravings, yay!), so I had to pay attention to my body for other signs. My indigestion that isn't resolved with Water is my new hungry. I still haven't figured out what full feels like yet, so I eat very little. I figure it will come with time. I am starting to get some of my energy back, but I do get exhausted after just a couple hours of any activity - Church, grocery store, etc. - regardless of the intensity level. The point: Everyone is different, and no one's journey will be exactly the same. The wonderful dietitian at the clinic described the food progression as an experiment. It was a very apt description. I have had a couple of "Why did I do this?" teary-eyed moments, and I expect I'll have more. However, I wouldn't change it. Despite the fatigue, I'm already feeling better about myself. Good luck! Keep us posted, and I hope things go well for you moving forward.

    Help! Painful Drinking

I had my surgery 8/19 and I cant drink cold or hot.. pretty much room temp for me right now. I have gone through almost every glass in my house until I found a glass that allows me to sip not gulp.. the gulping pain is gas/air. also dont be scared to ask a pharmacist for some medicine cups and drink out of them until you get the hang of it. I wasnt getting enough liquid so found that chicken noodle(less) Soup is it for me 8oz,. I have it for lunch ( i kept the veggies but ditched the noodles) I add one scoop of Protein powder unflavored to it. It takes me several hours to get through it but its liquid and protein.. I struggled after surgery with the Protein shakes. This week I have had three days stomach pain free.. remember you are healing inside
  17. surgery date: 11/18/2016 weight: 243.6 current weight: 195.4 losing my hair like crazy and i can't really drink water , it makes me very very hungry [emoji853]
  18. 7.5 months post op. I get between 900-1100 calories a day. Just saw my NUT last week, she wants me closer to the 1100 than the 900 and wanted me to up my carbs to about 100 grams a day so I've been working on that.
  19. It is definitely the weight loss . . . but the band helps make the weight loss possible so you could say both indirectly. I had my only child 16 years ago and wasn't blessed with another . . . until I got banded that is. I lost almost all of my weight, went off the pill and within 2 weeks I had conceived. It has been a miracle for me and I know I am not the only one who has become ultra-fertile post banding.
  20. Ok so for about a week now, Im seeing this mentioned more and more. So, is it something about the lap band in particular, or is it more the weight loss that makes us more fertile? Im saying us, even though I am not at all fertile. Im hoping that I will be one of the lucky ones with this side effect. How many of you who are pregnant, were having a hard time getting there before the band? I dont have PCOS, but I havent been able to get pg. I havent gone to any lengths to try (nothing medically supervised or induced). Im just wondering could this be a double blessing for me.

    paranoia?

Hey Frogstar, I just wanted to let you know that losing a pound / week is not too shabby at all!! It sounds cliche', but losing this weight is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Slow and steady wins the race. Hang in there!! Good luck!
  22. Stalls are all part of the process. Perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Stay focused on following the protocol, stay active and stay away from the scales for at least a week and two would be even better if you can stand it. You're gonna love the new you!!
  23. I was wondering if I could get some advice on ways I can motivate myself to eat. Nothing hurts physically, but I've been under a tremendous amount of stress lately. My special needs son is having a really, really rough time in school to the point that we are considering homeschooling him (he has Aspergers), we lost our only income when my boyfriend had to leave his position because they stopped paying him for his services (he's a music therapist), and I have my GRE's coming up soon and applications to apply for PhD programs. With all that happening, I've been really depressed and can't seem to make myself eat. I'll stare at the fridge for a few minutes, decide its not worth the effort, and then just go do something else. Last night it was about 7pm before I ate or drank anything. My water consumption is also very low. There are a few days a week where I might indulge in a cappuccino, but that's about it. I know this isn't good, but I just can't seem to get myself to eat.

    A new life

Congrats on this side of the losers bench. When you start getting over to discussion of issues outside of WLS, everyone's opinion here is what it is. If you follow the program and you lose what I would expect you can lose, you will find you social circle will change. If it is for the good or ill, well that is up to you and how you utilize the new opportunities. WARNING: In 27-57 days you may experience some strange feelings known as a hormone dump. Not everyone does, I sure as heck did. This means an increase in libido and other things. If you are planning, do NOT make any life changing decisions during this three to four month phase. Please post in the powder room for more female perspective, but while I enjoyed my time there, I would not want to make it a lifetime preoccupation.
