    Fluid intake one week post-op

Are you getting in Meal Replacements? That counts towards liquids too. So do popcycles, Jello and yogurt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks so much y'all! Just getting feedback from people I know are going thru the same things I'm going thru at the same time feels good. My husband and family are a great support system, but they aren't feeling the same things I'm feeling. Side note: had actual daggers been coming out of my eyes last night, my husband would have needed some serious medical attention! After trying to make me feel better and asking what he could do for me, and me growling back at him "you can get me food or shut your pie hole, your choice!"...he left me alone. As a healthcare professional, intellectually I know all these things. I don't work in the Bariatric field, but healthcare is normal every day life for me. It's definitely easier to tell a patient what he/she should and shouldn't do and feel confident in your knowledge. But when you're on the other side of the "table", it's no where near as easy! People in healthcare aren't very good patients, unfortunately. Because of the field I work in, I do see a therapist regularly. After hearing other people's problems day in and day out, I need a "mental health" check up once every month or so. I'll be seeing her tomorrow. Excellent advise @@elisa5150! As for my week 2 "full liquid" diet...I'm allowed to add cream Soups (no lumps or clumps), sugar free pudding, skim/light milk and Protein shakes. I looked at my week 1-4 progression and "meats/protein", i.e. low fat cottage cheese, yogurts, soft eggs, etc. don't start until next week. One thing that's on there that surprises me is canned tuna/chicken with light mayo. Has anyone tried that at 3 weeks out? Sounds great, but I don't want to try to walk before I crawl. Y'all are awesome! I don't feel quite as alone going into this new chapter in my life! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Today's lunch

Cute Lunch! Mine was Half a cup of Yogurt and 1/4 cup Tuna mixed with a tablespoon of greek. It honestly wasn't very photogenic. I'll have to take a picture of dinner. Dinner always looks better!

    Soft food and protein

I made a menu of two 2-3 oz meals (3 parts Protein one part carbs) they come to about 12 gr protein each unless it's something I can add unflavored protein too... So I still need three shakes or protein fortified cottage cheese or yogurt . The unflavored Protein powder is going to be in my food plan for a very long time.
  5. I'd stick to the full liquids, but choose ones that will provide more calories and nutrients so you'll feel more energetic and satisfied. You can obtain the same calories and Protein from eggs and sausage with other options that are gentler on your healing stomach. On my second week post-surgery my diet primarily consisted of nutritious and tasty smoothies / shakes. The blog site The World According to Eggface has several recipes that were helpful and even fun to experiment with; I didn't feel I was on a monotonous routine of the same Protein shake every day. One of my favorites was the simplest "recipe" though - a chocolate Protein powder with Fair Life milk and freshly ground Peanut Butter. I also made a lot of smoothies using high protein, low carb plain Greek yogurt and low GI frozen fruit such as berries. I added flavorless protein powders to Soups to enrich them, and also made low-carb egg custard using SF flavored syrup. I didn't start having any foods that required a fork or knife until the one-month mark. I actually then went back to liquids and spoonable foods because my stomach wasn't ready yet. I hope you continue to heal nicely and to feel amazing!
  6. My doc told me that some people actually gain the first week due to Fluid retention. As far as the liquid thing.. it SUCKS. I don't think you'll find anyone on here that enjoyed it, but it's a necessary part of healing. Can you have any yogurt or anything on full liquids?

    The beat goes on

@@jillyd Sounds a lot like my first month...dropped weight well but I never wanted to put anything in my stomach. I was never hungry and still have no hunger at all at almost 5 months post-op. If you need to, set an alarm on your phone and MAKE yourself eat a couple of spoonfuls of something every so often. It took me hours to get a whole container of yogurt down, but I had to do it. Add a scoop of unflavored Protein to it and it will help you get your protein requirement met. Eating purees is important in your advancing diet...you have to make the transition from liquids to solids in order to get to a more 'normal' place. I also blended my RTD shakes with ice, to lighten both the taste and texture. If you can tolerate colder foods, you may want to try it. I also added cinnamon to the chocolate shakes, to cut the sweetness a bit. Good luck, and you'll get tons of good ideas and support here. Congratulations on your surgery and the beginning of your healthier life...I'm amazed every day by how much better I feel, looking better is a bonus Welcome to the Losers' Bench!!
  8. Attymc I'm glad your starting to feel better. Each day gets better and better for me. I'm in the puréed stage and I've been eating scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt... I have tried any recipes yet but I will staring next week when I get to move onto mechanical soft for 4 weeks. I hope you continue to feel good. And yes, stay off YouTube Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I am on full liquids, my problem is I dislike anything milky so I can't do Protein shakes or yogurt without vomiting. Looking for new ideas or suggestions I may not have thought of. I'm allowed cottage cheese, pudding, applesauce and cream of Soups. These were the nutritionist suggestions. Thanks!
  10. @@atzvsg - Newbie and all, I did it. And I am not afraid to get "bashed" with you. I don't care what people think and I hope you don't either. Everyone's control levels are different. Not everyone here was a food addict before surgery. There are other causes for obesity. Once the weight is on however, it is very difficult even with the healthiest of choices to get the weight off. Everyone here however has struggled with something they have done that was not ideal, and was unhealthy for many years most likely. No one changed overnight, no one has even 100% changed. All of us will make mistakes even at 1 year post. People assume you can't just do it once or a few times carefully, just because "ooo it's forbidden" it's not good. You know that, and have already overcome it- you are awesome. I couldnt, but didn't make it a habit. The extra cheese-its, cheetos, cupcakes some people had last night that no one saw and they didn't post about was part of their own eating disorder as well. The need to chew is a human instinct. If people actually looked into bulimia or anerexia and what they really are like, I don't think they would seriously place the it in the same bucket. You will get through it. It is sooo ooo hard to not chew!! Gum helps me too. I hate Jello, pudding and yogurt or really anything sweet - never ate Soups or any time of smoothie until considering surgery. I just can't wait to eat fish Beans, spinach, lettuce broccoli, watermelon and avacados!! This time without chewing has made me appreciate that anything chewable is delicious! So super healthy food are all super duper appealing now. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  11. Thank you for your advice. I thought it was crazy to lose weight without following a diet 100%. Now that you are saying that it won't last, then I probably should follow the NUT instructions. I did change the way I eat. I did not eat fruit, vegetables, yogurt etc before the sleeve. I never liked healthy food and I am eating it now, and I am actually liking it. I did not think I was ever going to say I like vegetables and fruit. . Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
  12. Deli meats, dark meat poultry and seafood are usually well tolerated early on, soft cheeses, greek yogurt, SF pudding made with greek yogurt and/or Protein powder, try alternate Protein drinks (I was never impressed with RTD drinks and found that I could do a better job of adapting the flavor with the powders and other added flavors to taste. I wouldn't be overly dependent upon that GENEPRO stuff as the main thing it can be guaranteed to produce is expensive urine. While they may not have been shut down as a fraud yet, it sure checks all the boxes of a typical nutritional supplement scam (too good to be true - 30g protein in only 15g of product, just what is "equivalent" protein?, proprietary product - nobody knows what it really is and they aren't telling, no independent verification of their claims...) 0

    Newbie here

I didn't have a "mushy" stage....I went from full liquid to pureed, then to solids as tolerated.....but scrabbled eggs, greek yogurt, and like one of the other posters mentioned I stayed away from starchy things like mashed potatoes. good luck to you! Oh refried Beans might work for you too.
  14. Baked fish (seafood in general), cheese, hummus, greek yogurt, chia seeds. I often have a steamed artichoke for a snack/meal, and for a vegetable is has a nice size amount of protein (~5g).

How Do You Get Protein In?

I eat Tuna Creations. It's a pouch of Tuna. The Lemon Pepper Flavor is 80 calories and 18 grams of protein. In the evening I eat a couple of ounces of salmon--also high protein. Add a greek yogurt in and an 8 oz bottle of clear Isopure protein drink and I have no problem meeting the protein goals.

I was sleeved on 11/4..so I'm right here with you. Try sugar free orange(my fav) popsicles, perhaps an alternative to ice cream. I also added yogurt to my Protein shake. J. King

    Do you miss food?

I still love food. Last night we had family over and my sweetie and I made shrimp stuffed poblano peppers with refried beans. We stuffed the peppers with shrimp, red, orange and yellow bell pepper, onion and spices. We also made a cilantro yogurt sauce buy thinning the yogurt with non fat milk. I don't miss food at all. It is now a fun challenge to make it bariatric friendly.

    food ideas ?

Yes, pickle juice ????. I mixed it in Greek yogurt, too, but it wasn't as good. (I have a slight pickle obsession. There are 7 different jars of them in my fridge. None of which I can eat right now!) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App

    Update on OCt sleevers.....

How many times are people eating a day ? Today I've had 1 egg scrambled , yogurt for lunch and having a bowl of homemade Soup for my tea. I have also had 2 small spoonfuls of cottage cheese. I've not lost any weight for 2 weeks and wondering if I'm doing something wrong, am I eating enough ? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. a lot of nonfat greek yogurt - just make sure it doesn't have fruit bits in it. refried Beans with a little cheese melted on it tuna, chicken, or salmon (the flavored pouches of tuna and salmon are great for this) pureed with a tablespoon or so of plain nonfat greek yogurt. ricotta bake (the recipe is on the blog "the world according to eggface" - she also has a whole post dedicated to what to have on the puree phase, and later when cleared for "all food" she does posts called "A day in my pouch")
  25. First of all, take a deep breath! Secondly, congratulations on losing 100 pounds! Even if you did gain some of it back, just be thankful that you haven't gotten back to 300+. You have realized there is a problem, and you have done the right thing by coming here to discuss it. Proud of you! My best advice for you is to take a day to maybe purchase some protein shakes in bulk. Do you have a Costco or Sam's Club nearby? (Or really any warehouse that sells groceries in bulk.) On that free day that you have, try to write a grocery list for a week or two worth of healthy items. Sometimes, for dinner, all I eat is 2 Cheese Heads cheese sticks (90 calories each and with 6g of protein) with about 1 or 2 ounces of packaged pepperoni (16 slices are about 6-8g of protein). Some grocery stores also sell protein yogurts with 21g of protein in them. Either eat a yogurt, a protein bar, or a protein shake in the mornings, some meats and cheeses for lunch, and a small dinner (maybe some grilled or boiled chicken, or your favorite kind of meat). Protein keeps you full and helps with unhealthy cravings. Search for protein type foods. Buy cheese and yogurts, and try your best to graze those things instead of fast food. You can do this!
