    Officially....

As of this morning, I am officially "overweight". I still have a bit to go to hit my goal, but golly i am gonna get there. I have 19 days for my 1 year surgiversary!! Super exicted and awesome NSV for me!
  2. I am 7 weeks away from my surgery and 5 months from my intro seminar. I am the same weight now as I was when I started. In the meantime, I have lost and regained the same 10 pounds twice now. I realize I am eating compulsively to deal with my anxiety about the surgery and other things. This week I am working on mindful eating and exercises for emotional eating. I’m getting awareness but have not been all that successful about stopping. My biggest fear is not about the surgery and recovery but I am terrified that I’ll keep eating sweets and go back to old/bad habits. I feel like I have been such a failure regarding weight loss and that I’ll be spending all this time, energy and money only to have it not be effective. I need to hear from those who felt their eating was out of control before surgery.
  3. Did my classes, scheduled a date (I'm a teacher, doc said he deeply appreciated teachers and military and wanted to book around my schedule). But then I was denied by my insurance. I'm guessing my employer plan doesn't cover it. I'm hoping my surgeon can appeal on my behalf. I have a BMI in the mid 40's with comorbidities. I'm excited, and nervous. My school is going to let me take almost 2.5 months off to recover and figure out my new lifestyle. Sent from my Pixel 3 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Just had my surgery on 10/17/19 and currently on liquids and protein shakes for the next 2 weeks, goal is 60gm of protein a day. I have had nothing but nausea which is making taking in any sips of liquid quite intolerable. Even food commercials are making me nauseated 🤢.

    6 days post op VSG

I'm new on here, and also had surgery on 10/15, but still on clear liquid diet...I can't wait to get to the next phase this week. I also feel fatigued about middle of the day....I was told that was normal at this point. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I never had a "regular" good meal when I started back onto "real" foods. It was one food at a time. Trying a little of this and a little of that. I struggled with the course texture of veggies for a long time. Liver was the best meat and eggs never have settled well since surgery. I found that I could initially eat some things just fine (like cod) but if I did get sick on something just once, I could never go back to it. That happened with the cod and I still have lots of frozen portions in my freezer. So, no, it took months before I can say I had a regular meal. Beans (especially refried, and thinned with bone broth) were a favorite - very easy to tolerate and tasted good. Cottage cheese was another one that worked well, as well as yogurt. Starchy foods like the tortilla might tend to get "stuck", but if you can eat a little with some beans, that sounds pretty yummy. I did not introduce starches until much later, however - not until I got within 10 pounds of goal weight.
  7. Hi all. Doing well on day six but figured I’d post an update... Only the largest incision is sore at this point and mainly just when I go to lie down or bend or twist. If I am still/lying down no pain at all. I’m down 19.4 lbs since pre op diet began. Yeah! Full liquid stage is better than clear but it does fill you up a lot faster. I can barely get 4 Oz in of my protein drink and that is sipping slowly. I also feel quite full after that amount. I’ve also learned the hard way that if I am going to add unflavored protein to my strained cream soup, I should not reheat in microwave. Nasty chunks. Blech The hardest part for me is the fatigue I am experiencing. I have so little energy. For two days I have wanted to go to the store just to escape the house and I haven’t made it there yet. I’ve gotten as far as showering each day but today is the first day I actually blow dryed my hair. Lol When does the energy come back? I’m 55 so maybe that is why I’m so pooped? Or is everyone like this? I had surgery on 10/15/19. I hope everyone is doing well!

Yesterday, Sat, Oct. 19 Maintenance : 5'2" / F / 1yr PO / 115.0 lbs Made a roasted leg of lamb yesterday and now we are going to be eating it for the next couple days for sure. It's delicious, so fine by me Went to town with the lamb AND some chicken at lunch and was STUFFED. I was surprised with how much I was able to get in. Though by end of day I didn't even make 1000 cals, which was also surprising. 9:00am - peppermint tea with Stevia 12:45pm - salad greens & vinaigrette + carrots + 3 oz grilled chicken + 3.5 oz roast lamb 2:30pm - coffee with Stevia 7:00pm - salad greens & vinaigrette + carrots + 1.7 oz roast lamb 9:00pm - 1oz almonds + half cup of protein ice cream Totals: 955 cals - 86g Protein - 27g NET carbs - 58g fat

    Before and After Pics

This is from 8/22/18, my first surgical consult, to 10/16/19, a year after gastric sleeve surgery. Neck: 14" to 12" Waist: 50" to 40.5" Hips: 56.5" to 44" Lost over 80 lbs. and I feel great!
  11. I find I keep my protein around 50 grams but up to 60 and every so often a little more. Usually by accident. ive been doing average 340 but it can range 290-440 depending on the day. What I have to eat or plan to eat. I’m struggling with foods and consistencies and textures and swallowing issues. i guess here are some examples: 1. PEScience peanut butter cookie protein powder = 120 calories, 24 grams protein TwoGood vanilla yogurt 5.3 o = 80 calories, 12 grams protein friendship whipped cottage cheese 4 oz = 90 calories, 16 grams protein Total 290 calories, 52 grams protein sometimes I also have good culture cottage cheese 5.3 oz 110 calories, 19 grams protein. I usually have the protein powder with ripple milk (4 ounces is 4 grams protein) but I’ve been mixing it in TwoGood yogurt. 2. Koia cinnamon horchata rtd (plant based) = 190 calories, 18 grams protein two soft boiled eggs = 140 calories, 12 grams protein BariatricPal grapefruit flavor protein juice = 80 calories, 15 grams protein total = 410 calories, 45 grams protein sometimes I have BariatricPal creamy chicken pasta mixed with a packet of beef broth soup for 30 grams of protein and 210 calories I might have a protein shot which is 60 calories, 15 grams protein just a few examples. And My surgery was April 29th. I know I’m not normal. I’m doing the best I can. maybe I’m not a good example. I’m not perfect, I have very little energy to plan out meals. I tend to not have lunch. My fatigue is not related to calories, it’s a chronic illness. The more exertion the more fatigue. I cope however I can. thank you @FluffyChix you Always provide excellent information. I probably should stop commenting since my way isn’t the norm.

    Water intake and outflow

Same thing going on here too. I'd pee 10 to 15 times a day before surgery. Now I'm usually about 4 to 5 times a day with about 80 ounces of water a day. I dont feel like I'm retaining water either but there's no way I'm peeing out the amount I'm taking in. I'm also in a weight loss stall. It started over a week ago. 🍁 OCT 2019 CHALLENGE 🍁

Day 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 My family have been away for Fall break vacation. I continue to do my Abs everywhere exercise daily. My abs do look toned...somewhat. It's been hard doing all the self care exercises as I'm not at home and anyone knows vacation with kids is really about them! I've attended the yoga/meditation class offered in the resort though. Family has been bonding. Most difficult conversation? My aunt calling me to tell me my Dad had passed away! Very difficult conversation!! As well as my conversation with God afterwards. I was 19 and away from home for college. My aunt lived in the city I went to college so she called me over. Mid month update:::: I keep chugging along with plan and it's had it's ups and downs but I've tried my best to stick to plan and not get down or discouraged. Stalls are hard [emoji21][emoji57][emoji19] All in all, getting into the thick of this lifestyle![emoji123][emoji123][emoji123][emoji123] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I had my surgery 12/10/2018 and I am at goal weight. Before surgery weight somewhere north of 320, (I would t weigh myself but the one time I did I saw the scale hovering at 32—- and I quickly stepped off) day of surgery 294 and today 164. I have went from a size 24 to size 8. I feel amazing. Pictures of me April 2018, September 2018 and September 2019. I have quite a bit of loose skin on my abdomen and inner thighs but I can live with it for now. I met with a plastic surgeon back in May and asked her what I could do to improve my overall body appearance and prepare for a tummy tuck and breast lift and she recommended pilates. I got a prescription from my primary care and my insurance covers most of the cost of pilates. I am addicted to pilates. I am slightly concerned I won’t be able to stop losing weight now that I met my goal. Does anyone else ever worry about losing too much weight?

    3 Years

I would send you private message but I can't figure out how. So I apologize discussing this openly. I'm not trying to be bossy but I was mis managed with this for a year. Once I went to a 2nd opinion with a gastrointestinal cancer specialist he told me the only one to manage IPMN is a Liver/Pancreatic specialist. So I found one of the top specialist for Liver transplants and have been with him last 12 years. With IPMN he laid out his treatment plan; they need to do biopsy on the fluid to make sure it's not pre cancerous, they also have a blood test CEA-19 which is specifically for pancreatic cancer. Then a MRI to monitor changes in shape and size yearly. You have worked so hard to get healthily, Just asked your GI about these testS the CEA 19 is just a blood test, you many have already had it. Good Luck
