  1. I think this is one of my fav NSVs...not because it made you cry by the way!! It's because this is what we all need.... support and love from those who mean the most to us. I agree, you must hold on to this feeling; for me it is like a lottery win! Congrats to you and your fella xx

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

congrats, harley! "downgrading" from morbid to severe is one of my mini goals, too. today's nsv: i started putting aside several big black sweaters and other winter clothes that are too loose. i figure (hope) that they'll be of no use to me by next winter. can't wait to drop them off at the goodwill/salvation army! in other news, i caught myself crossing my legs the other day. i haven't been able to do that comfortably in a year or two. yay me.
  4. ok, an embarrassing NSV but one never the less. I was playing softball, running to 2nd base and my pants fell DOWN!!!!!!! not sure if any one noticed cuz my panties were the same color as my pants but OMG...MY PANTS FELL DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for new pants!!!!!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

Hi Everyone: Yesterday somebody called me "The Incredible Shrinking Sue"! :biggrin2:That was so nice to hear. After that she asked me if I was done yet, because she thought I shouldn't lose much more. I still have 37 pounds to goal, so that was nice to hear. Someone else told me that she was worried that soon I will be thinner than she is. Another one is that I actually have muscles in my thighs! The inside of my thighs are soft and mushy, but the front and outside are getting firm. Yippee. Must be the trikke doing it's magic. Keep sharing your NSV's. Sue
  6. I am a Silpada Designs rep.......if you're unfamiliar, it's an exquisite line of sterling silver jewelry....a couple of years ago I bought the most gorgeous sterling and pearl watch....and it never fit right. Too tight and just looked silly...I was upset because one, it was expensive...and two, I just loved it! I've noticed my rings are loose, so I decided to try the watch yesterday....AND IT FIT PERFECTLY....hung right at the top of my hand like it's supposed to! Soooooooooo......I have an ass the size of Texas, but my wrists are NORMAL........ Victory comes with winning small battles.....and I'll take a well-fitting wristwatch as a WIN!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

Congrats everyone on your NSV!!! I'm not sure if this is one, but I've had some fellow teachers say that they've noticed I lost weight. Some know I have the band, but some think I'm on a really strict diet. Well today for the first time I had one of my students say that it looks like I'm getting smaller!!! a 16 year old, never notices anything about an adult because they are so into themselves. It made me smile really big!!!
  8. Hey y'all! We've got to get this thread going again! I'm following the other July threads, but those sleevers are weeks behind us! I'LL START 5' 4" 29 yrs. SW: 277 CW: 253 I've dropped 24 lbs since 7/1 and haven't lost an ounce in 2 weeks!!! I think it's because I'm only getting ~32oz of fluids a day. :-/ Must increase! However, I measured and have lost 29 inches from my body!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!! I'm worried about my caloric intake because my NUT told me minimum of 1000, but that's seems waaaaay to much. So I set my own goal of 500-600. I'm trying to figure how to break this stall!!!! Yesterday, I had my first NSV and got to scratch an item off my "Skinny Bucket List"... I crossed my legs comfortably and I didn't even know I was doing it! I just looked down and my legs were crossed and my pants were baggy! This encouraged me to compare pics... And HOLY SHMOLIES.... The difference in unbelievable!!! I've already lost my neck and a few chins!!! Tell us... We all need the encouragement in knowing we are not alone!!! Who better to talk to than the July 1 Sleevers!!!! What are your week 4 stats? How much are you eating? Calorie range? Have you stalled, yet? Any NSV's? Who can actually drink 64 oz?!?!?!? What kind if exercising are you doing? Pictures?
  9. My husband, 16 yr old daughter and my mom flew from Tucson to California to go to Disneyland over my daughters spring break, we just got home yesterday. This morning I get up and get on the scale to find I am down 2lbs and loving life. When we booked this vacation I was only two months post op and wondering how I would handle the challenges I might face being away from my routine and home. Well at 5 months and two weeks out I was fine, absolutely fine. A few NSV's I celebrated along the way, (1.) I fit in the airplane seat NO extender needed, no oozing onto the person next to me (2.) was able to use my own tray table, laid down flat and didn't rest on my belly at all (3.) walked and walked and walked for four days straight, clocking an average of 20,000 to 22,000 steps daily, with no foot pain (4.) fit on every ride I went on (5.) wore a matching shirt with my daughter one day (will post a pic) and the family another day, was never able to do this because of my size (5.) wore a sleeveless top one day and shorts another day and was comfortable in both I planned ahead and brought my unflavored Protein for my morning decaf tea and my Quest bars for one meal during the day to make sure to get in my protein everyday. I was able to find options for meals without any trouble. Had a few bites of treats here and there. I made sure to get enough liquids in also, it was in the 90's a few days we were there. Overall we had a blast and I was okay, realize this is my new normal and I like it. I was so happy also that when I got up this morning after being gone for 6 days I had lost 2 pounds. Woo Hoo! I think all the walking helped a lot. So just remember this new way of life is doable, I didn't feel restricted at all. With planning ahead and being prepared I successfully had a wonderful vacation!!! I have to apologize in advance for my pics being on their sides, they look the right way on my computer but then when I attach them to my post they always go sideways??

    An exciting NSV!!!!

This was size 18s!!!!...I am such an idiot sometimes! I can wear size 16s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kira, a fellow bandster, gave me some of her 16s yesterday and I thought that maybe I would be able to get into them in a couple of months. So I finally had a chance this morning to try them on and I got into every single pair!!!!! I can't remember the last time I was in a 16...maybe in in 8th grade!!! Omgosh...I am so excited and pumped! Thank you and a big hug to Kira!!! I will post a picture of the two of us together a little later.

    Any May sleevers out there?

I was May 8th last year. May sleevers are the BEST sleevers. Good luck to you all!! I'm always here if you have questions, or want advice. According to my doc, I ROCKED my sleeve. The time will fly by, and before you know it, you will be rocking skinny jeans, and posting NSV's.

    Major NSVs

I went to the endocrinologist today and my a1c is 5.3, so I am no longer pre-diabetic!! My health was the main reason I had the surgery. Both of my parents were diabetics and my dad died of kidney failure from it at 62. My mom died of a heart attack at 57. I want to live to see my son grow up, go to college and get married. My endo said that once I reach my goal weight she will release me to my PCP for yearly thyroid monitoring (I have Hashimoto's), so that's another NSV. My blood pressure was 104/64, which is awesome! Even though I'm a slow loser, the scale is always moving in the right direction. I love my sleeve! HW 270 SW 255 CW 220

    NSV: Airplane seatbelt fit!

I cannot WAIT for this NSV. I am flying April 10th for the first time since my Jan 21 surgery. We shall see!!
  16. Had to travel for a retreat and experienced another NSV. In the past, I was always worried about if the seatbelt would fit when I flew occasionally I had to request an extender(humiliating) but usually just sucked in my guy and squeezed into the seatbelt to avoid embarrassment and avoided getting up on flights so I wouldn't have to struggle to close the seatbelt again. Today, I got onboard, snapped my belt shut without a struggle, didn't encroach on my seat mate and was able to put the tray table all the way down. My weight loss has been slow and as I've become more active, it's been all over the place going up then down so I've been very frustrated. However I have been steadily losing inches and today's NSV showed I'm making progress and moving in the right direction. I'm so thrilled right now and am looking forward to more NSVs.

    April Avengers - NSV!

NSV's Galore! I am excited again...boy do I like this feeling. Good feelings instead of depressed. Happy to go into the "stash of clothes that are probably out of style but I really don't give a damn because they fit"! I was able to get into a pair of 16W jeans I haven't worn in 3+ years this past weekend...and I didn't have to lay down to zip them up. Woot! Carol - I cannot wait to be able to cross my legs - I'm looking forward to that one! Congrats!
  18. I am 11 months post op gastric sleeve. My highest weight ever was reached in June of 2019 and I was horrified to weigh in at 502 lbs! I didn't believe it and requested the doctor to re-weigh me. That was my first wake-up call. I was suffering from very high blood pressure, debilitating back pain/spasms, knee pain and damage, sciatica, and sleep apnea. I started doing keto and got down to 415lbs. During COVID quarantine, I gained back up to about 459lbs. In July of 2020, I finally decided to take back my life and financed a vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery (out of pocket, since insurance would not cover it). As of yesterday, I'm down to 275 lbs. I have gone from a 6xl shirt to a 2xl. From size 62 pants, to a size 44. I still struggle to see myself as anything but fat from time to time, but it's the Non-Scale Victories (NSVs) that keep me going! My only regret is not doing this sooner. Sometimes I wish I could go back and re-do certain life experiences without the extreme morbid obesity. Here's my running list: - I’m off of all medications (including 2 BP meds). - No more seat belt extension on airplanes - Seats with arm rests are no problem. - Restaurant booths are now no problem - I can fit in an MRI machine (if needed). - I can now walk ANYWHERE without debilitating back pain. - The car steering wheel no longer rubs my stomach. - I can shop in most “regular” stores for clothes. - I no longer worry about a seat being able to hold me (those plastic white ones at weddings are even ok now). - I can use my own step ladder to do things around the house like change a light bulb. - I can sit with my legs crossed. - I can now get down on the floor. - My “love life” has drastically changed/Improved. - too many to list! Notice there is a lot of use of the word “CAN” here? All in less than a year. The little black battery operated box on the floor cannot control me any longer! Yea, it’s still important. But weight is no longer the defining characteristic of my life. Sleeved 7/23/20. HW 502, SW 459, CW 275, GW healthy

    Week 15 - Post Op

Good job you are so close to Onderland! I lost 0 this week, and 1 last week. So I think I'm on my first stall Not too bad for 15 weeks out I guess. I ate a lot of junk last week, I was in Atlantic City for the Holiday. So I'm not sure if it's a real stall or just not losing because of the junk. I'm not worried though, I can tell I'm shrinking and today wore a blouse to work that I haven't been able to fit in years. It's a size 14/16 but it's a long tunic and it actually fits over my large hips now. Yay NSV! That's cool about your co-worker. Only a few people know I went to MX to get sleeved. Still keeping the big secret from my Mom. At first I thought the surgery you were talking about was plication, but I'm not sure now. Hopefully you can convince him to get the real sleeve. I talked one of my friends out of the crapband, and now she's getting sleeved. I feel like a spokesmodel now LOL! I'm still doing Zumba classes and my elliptical, but now my Mom has an XBOX Kinect and I so want one now. I played Zumba on it and it's great. Maybe I will get it when I hit the 50 lb mark which is 2 lbs away.
  20. Put on my calf-high boots today for the first time in FOREVER! I feel like a kid in a candy store - everything fits! On a more health related note, excercising feels a million times easier. I am actually back to enjoying running and sweating again! My attitude towards food has totally changed as well. I still like it, but I am quite indifferent as to my portions and what I can eat, where as before I wouldn't be able to top thinking about putting that last bite into my already full belly! This is how I always wanted to eat, and how was meant to be. I am so excited for everyone scheduled for and considering this surgery! Best thing I have ever done.

    A new NSV!

Great NSV's! My most recent was my husband telling me that it was time to get rid of my jeans because by A@# had disappeared in the ones I was wearing. LOL
  22. Awesome! I love these kinds of NSVs.
  23. Ok, so I needed new jeans because I had two pairs of 16s. One was too baggy in the thighs and the other too tight on the butt. I picked up a pair of 16 capris and just for fun a pair of 14s. I looked at those 14s and thought no way they'd even come over my thighs! Well they did! Then thought no way I'd be able to button them! I did! I left with a size 14 capri. I've gone from a tight 22 to a 14 in 7 1/2 months. I remember being a 16 in junior high don't remember ever being a 14! Why don't I see myself so much smaller than I've ever been?!? Just one and a half more points and I will no longer be at an obese BMI. I started at 44!
  24. I wish i kept a journal/blog pre & post op keeping tract of problems, NSV's, food's, water, etc do as i say not as i do kathy
