    Non-Scale Victories!!

I have a five victories to be grateful for this week! First ... a combo NSV/SV. About a week ago, I got into my pre-pregnancy pants!! Whoooo hooo! Then, this morning, the scale showed me the number where I was 9 years ago when I started this glorious motherhood journey. Very cool to be on BOTH the health and motherhood journeys at the SAME time! Second ... I am training for a 10K next spring as part of my overall healthier me goal. Last night, I pulled 1.5 minutes off of my mile because I was actually able to RUN without the momentum of my 'jiggle' making it hard to keep moving forward. My butt actually co-operated instead of wiggling to it's own beat, so to speak. Who knew my legs could actually be powerful again? Third ... bathing suits. I actually LIKED trying them on this year. My hubby was appreciative, I was able to buy from the 'normal' people sizes and a 16 top was TOO BIG even with my ... shall we call them ... ample breasts. Fourth ... and funniest, actually. I had my second fill on Thursday and the lady running the floriscope (sp) had to move me three times to get a me at the right angle for a good view because 'your waist is so slight'. LOVED it! My oddly tiny waist (for a 'big girl' .. can't wait to shake THAT term) is back!! Fifth ... being thankful that I have a place like this to share these victories with those who really understand!! Keep up the hard work, all! We have earned it!

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Weigh-in last night and this past week I've lost 6 POUNDS!!! NSV-I went jogging last night and as I was putting on my fanny pack, it wouldn't fit so I adjusted the straps as much as I could til I finally had to take the extender off. I have never worn that fanny pack without the extender and I don't need it anymore!!! It makes me feel like I'm practically a normal size person. I know it sounds silly, but I am proud!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Mrs Husker; My sympathies to your family and his. Matt is with the Lord and his soul is shining from the heavens. God bless us all!! Hello Everyone, I was in North Carolina for a week and just returned. I had a FABULOUS time there. I will admit that I had some slip ups with my eating. Not that I ate a WHOLE LOT but I did eat things that I know I shouldn't have. Also, I only did one days worth of exercise and crunches. However, I can say that I did get in ALL my water and protein intake each day!! Now its back to reality and I have to get that scale moving in opposite direction. It felt good to hear people comment on weight loss. I did not think that I looked that different. I always had clear skin but I got plenty of comments on my face glowing. I had to tell people that I was not pregnant. I've missed you guys so so so so much. Although I had loads of fun, it felt weird not being able to log on an tell you guys. I'm happy to be back. I want to congratulate everyone on their NSV's :clap2: Lilnena and Demsvmejm - you guys rock. Tammy and Thick: :wow2: You two are beautiful! What an awesome difference. OH Julie: I missed ya, girl!!!! LoriPA: Way to go on the Arthritis Walk!!! Well its time to get my butt back in gear. No more country cookin for a little while.

    Got called fat...an NSV

Blended families are really difficult. I'm sorry your stepchildren don't treat you with the love and respect you deserve. Great NSVs though! I can't wait until my size 22 jeans fit. They go on (and even zip) now, but they're too obscenely tight to wear in public. Maybe in about 10 more lbs.... Your zoo day sounds GREAT.

well, the scales are dropping more slowly these days. It dawned on me last night that I think it is key now more than ever, that I look for and Celebrate NSV!! Here are some of the latest.... - My bra size is now 38D - I keep getting clothes out of the closet, put them on just to take them off and put them in the too big pile. - DH continues to notice me more and more. - sex is GREAT!! - Bought "sexy" panties. I have worn "granny Panties" for years. DH couldn't keep his hands off me. We have been together for 17 years. It's so fun to rekindle our love life - I feel attractive for the first time in many many years. - SHAVING MY LEGS IS SOOOOOO MUCH EASIER, and takes about half the time. We all have NSV and when those scales seem to get stuck look for your NSV!!!! I can see so many changes that I have let the scales overshadow. WE ARE DOING THIS!!!!!!

ya'll have some GREAT NSV's.!!!!. i enjoy these as much as seeing the scale move (well close) latest NSV for me was over the wkend @ the gym. i watched my hubby walk up to a woman on the elliptical - thinking she was Me. thankfully he didn't swat her a$$ w/his towel or pinch her butt - but he swore that was me; when he looked over he didn't recognize my upper body....he had to make note that my booty was the same, just didn't realize how i small i have gotten up top...LOL means i still have work on the bottom. tiny scale victory - had an unfill last wk & was under my dr's goal...hee hee - still not where i need to be since i'm only 5'1 on good posture days:)

My wife and I both had the lap band surgery on the same day September 12, 2007. Having both of us on the lap band has been very helpful. I have gone from a 56 waist to a 38. But the best NSV is being able to keep up with the grandkids.

    so excited

That is great! I know how excited I was to get off my diebeties meds, then high blood pressure and high cholesteral. It's a great NSV!
  18. Good for you! I am writing this poolside as I have my own little NSV...feels good, doesn't it :-)
  19. McButterpants says it very well, especially this: "The sleeve will only stop you from eating copious amounts of food in one sitting. It doesn't stop you from going back to the bag of chips 30 minutes later when you can fit more into your sleeve. The sleeve is simply one tool in your tool box.." Here's my added 2 cents... I was very fortunate in that I was not hungry at all for 2-3 months post op. I ate because I knew I should. When my hunger returned it wasn't as intense as before, and by then I had established my new eating habits which helped a LOT. Now I eat every 4 hours (8a, 12n, 4p and 8p), and I keep my carb intake as low as humanly possible. Both factors contribute to my never being hungry for very long at a time. What keeps me on track when I could never stick to a diet before: The feeling of satisfaction / fullness after each meal, plus the decreased hunger, is the main thing that makes it possible for me to stick to the plan. I do get head hunger sometimes, and when I can't ignore it I have a SF popsicle or some SF Crystal Light. If those don't work and I indulge in a cookie, I can now stop with one - which I could never do before. I've lost a significant amount of weight doing this, so I KNOW it works. I've been able to stick to the plan for 7 months now, which is way longer than diets I tried before surgery. I will be da**ed if I'm going to throw away the $12,500 I paid out of my pocket to have this done, not to mention all the work I've done (and the goodies I've resisted eating) to get to this point. Sometimes I just repeat to myself, as many times as necessary "I'm not going to eat that. Not gonna do it. There will be goodies available when I'm at my goal." And I walk away from the temptation. The support available on this site and on the Facebook group I belong to is PHENOMINAL. It helps SO much, especially at those times when family/friends would probably beat me to death if I mention one more thing about the trials and tribulations -- or the NSVs -- related to being sleeved. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

My NSV's are: I am finally wearing a smaller size in clothes. My face is thinning out. I am starting to enjoy looking at myself in the mirror again. When I look down I can actually see my feet again. ( I need a pedicure!) My 42DDD are now a 40DD (Don't want to lose to much of these) Every time I see people I know they all comment on how "skinny" I am getting (LOVE IT) I am starting to feel like a WOMAN again. I can't wait for more!

    Body measurements

The neck is an interesting indicator. Also watching my best friend (sleeved 24 days before me) as his double chin and jowls shrink. Lots of NSVs to savour! :-)

    Losing too fast

Hey Saww62! Nice to see another guy on the site. I don't know what "too fast" really means - I wish I could wake up tomorrow 45 more pounds lighter! As a rule, men lose fast and the more you have to lose the faster it goes, at least at first. Do your best to work the program and don't worry about how fast it's going. You will look back on these days from your first plateau and wonder why you were worried at all. Ps. watch for the first few non-scale victories (NSV) too. For me, it was cool to be able to bend down and tie my shoes without gasping for breath. Good luck and congratulations on getting the band.
