Is it just me or does the rash of raves about Genepro Protein on this board lately sound very scripted? If you are shilling for the company you need to be open and above board. I have never tried the product and based on the red flags that go up when I read these "reviews" I won't be trying it. Does anyone else have a problem with this kind of covert marketing?

phase 2 if you cant tolerate protein shakes... any idea on what to do?
JennsinCA replied to Castle coburg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought Genepro unflavored protein powder from Amazon and I love it. So far I have mixed it in broth, refried beans, pudding, and my all time favorite lite and fit greek yogurt. 2 yogurts a day and I am able to get 84gm of protein in. It has been a life saver since I am so sick of shakes -
phase 2 if you cant tolerate protein shakes... any idea on what to do?
Ronab replied to Castle coburg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are still using Genepro, do you still like/use it? Concerned about wasting money since others say it is not possible to put that much protein in such a small quantity. -
I haven't tried them, but they don't look terrible. Their protein is whey isolate, which is what we want (as opposed to the great unknown that's in that Genepro scam), though the low carb crowd will certainly find that they have "too many carbs", but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. They do seem to have a fair amount of sugar alcohols (erythritol, sorbitol) which bother some people with GI distress, but not others. Like protein bars and such, I wouldn't have more than one of these per day, both from the perspective of diversification (don't get all of your protein or other nutrition from just one place) and with all the sugar alcohols in it you may find yourself stuck on the toilet all day until you find out how sensitive you are to them.

lelewatson replied to sey1008's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Great question. I'm pre op and been asking the same thing. About Vitamins and Protein. I did get some samples of unjury protein and I think I'm going to invest in GENEPRO because i can add it to walk if yhats all I can get down. Wish you luck. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App -
Oddball here - dislike Premiere - Thoughts?
Samara1974 replied to tinytummy17's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
For me the premiere protein drinks are too thick and a bit chalky tasting. I prefer a few flavors of syntrax nectar and Jay Robb egg protein powder (I am lactose intolerant). I also like ideal shape protein but they are low in protein so I boost it with genepro -
Nectar vs Isopure unflavored
ShelterDog64 replied to sey1008's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
For what it's worth...I was a HUGE Isopure fan pre-op. Post-op, I literally could not get it past my lips. I liked Syntrax for a very brief couple of weeks post-op, and I can't stand it now. I'm a GENEPRO fan now, no smell, no taste, doesn't change the consistency of food. Whatever you do, don't over-invest in anything pre-op, because almost everyone's taste changes after surgery. You can get samples of lots of different Protein powders on several websites, and that's a good way to go. -
Besides water, what do you like to drink?
ichabodny replied to Horseshowmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See if your Dr ok's genepro. It's been a lifesaver for me-30 g protein per scoop and it mixes perfectly with water. I add a bit of zerocal flavor. It's been the best form of protein I've found. -
Genepro, unflavored, good stuff

I'm in soft food right now and don't typically rely on shakes anymore cause I have been getting my protein in just fine with the foods I am eating (and if not I use a scoop of Genepro in a small amount of water (like 2 oz, usually gatorade zero) and drink that for 30 grams of protein). However, when I was in the full liquid stage I would typically finish the shakes within 30 min. No more than an hour for sure. But then, I never had an issue at all from the get go when it came to getting liquids in or keeping things down. I was one of the lucky ones, still am, who didn't have issues with nausea, sickness not being able to eat, drink etc.

I want to succeed
1GardenGirl replied to Bunbunisdonedone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so glad I found this topic. I'm almost 2 weeks post VSG and the protein is difficult. I have dozens of bottles of Protein2O and just thinking about it makes me want to gag! I ordered Isopure and almost cried when I opened it and saw the huge scoop of a serving size. Also, it is not tasteless... So, I'm going to order the Genepro and cross my fingers that I can get it down. Time to drink more water. -

5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
JanJan19 replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think I'm technically on pureed but for real, pureed to me is ground beef and ground chicken. I'm not pureeing anything. I weight and measure everything, eat in 4oz increments. Zero issues. Tonight I had 3 oz of ground chicken with hot sauce and 1oz of blue cheese. Earlier I had eggs with goat cheese and spinach. I also try and add protein to my coffee in the morning to kick up the protein as high as possible. I got that GENEPRO that I think I saw someone recommend. It's real trial and error. Some stuff it curdles in, disgusting. Found a YouTube video, if you put it in a shaker cup and add even 2oz of milk or creamer and shake it up, it becomes pretty smooth. Then pour the coffee on top & shake again. Adds 30G protein for 60 calories. -
Favorite unflavored protein?
Serengirl replied to jlb8080's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am an isopure and Genepro fan... -
FYI, there is no such thing as "medical quality" protein. That's just a marketing gimmick. If you notice, they trademarked the term... so it's not a legit thing, it's just their marketing bs. UNJURY® Medical Quality Protein™ Genepro was sued for a bunch of things, but one thing that came out of the lawsuit was "no industry or FDA standard for "medical grade" protein exists" https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20171213e89 Are unjury products good... sure, are they really that much better than other proteins... some, but not all. And don't fall for that marketing BS... if it works for you, awesome. But it's not because of some non-existent "medical grade" protein standard. For the record, All "Whey Isolates" are more tolerable to those with lactose issues. Some more than others... https://healthyeating.sfgate.com/can-lactose-intolerant-people-drink-whey-protein-shakes-11706.html

3 weeks post op and need feedback
sbg224 replied to InnerFitnessModel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Add either GENEPRO or unjury unflavored Protein powder to yogurt, applesauce, Jello, Soup, and thats an extra 30gms of protien. My program calls for 80-100gms a day of protein, and this powder has been great. I still use it and I am 7 months post sleeve. -
I'm about 10 days out. Your appetite will return after a few days, but either way just keep sipping your Water. Dehydration is a scary thing as you probably know. As far as Protein... What helped me is GENEPRO, it's a concentrated and purified medical grade Protein powder. One tablespoon in your water or tea will give you 30g of protein. Tips for hitting your daily protein and water goals
grata33 replied to suzcar729's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just recently discovered Genepro unflavored protein powder. It is expensive but worth it. It has 30gr protein per scoop and the scoop is less than half size of other protein powders. It mixes easily and doesn’t leave that powdery taste. It’s the only way I’ve hit my daily protein goals. I’m not a big water drinker so I add a scoop to my glass of tea and have 30gr of protein with one tea drink. It doesn’t even change the flavor or texture either. I highly recommend trying it. It’s been a game changer for me! 😊 -
Anyone have any ideas or can tell me how they use Genepro . I am only 9 days post op and im trying to reach protein goal so I purchased Genepro.

I love oatmeal. I use instant and add a scoop of Genepro protein powder with 30 gms of protein and then it really packs a punch!!

9 Days post-DS Surgery problems with Protein Shakes
Sunnyway replied to Randall Morgan's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Try a variety of brands and flavors, both in ready-made shakes and powders. I prefer the plant-based protein shakes to those that are whey-based. Orgain makes a killer Chocolate Salted Caramel, and Purely Inspired is good in Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Bariatric Advantage even has some soup flavors. Isopure is clear fruit-flavored protein powder, which I mix with Crystal Light or other sugar free flavored drink I.e, half a glass of one mixed with half a glass of the other. GenePro makes a flavorless protein powder that can be added to soup, coffee, pudding, etc. There is endless variety! Walmart usually has a fairly decent selection. You can order products online. Do read the Nutrition Data before buying. -
I really wish I had gotten this before I had the surgery because then I wouldn't have had minimal Protein intake and the gagging of the random milk based shake. MuscleGen GENEPRO Molecular Triprotein Peptide. It is odorless and tasteless although if you dip your finger in and taste it alone...there is some flavor but not unlikable. It mixes better than anything I have ever tried and it has 30G of protein in one small scoop!! I put a half scoop in my morning oatmeal, add another half at lunch into Soup or my cottage cheese, and another scoop between Snacks and dinner and there is my first 60 grams. I am even sneaking it into my kids foods, shhhh! Hockey Momma.
