Genepro is all I use. I cant take the other shakes they make me want to gag. Im not sure how you mix it with coffee though as I no longer drink it since surgery. I mix mine with crystal light every morning when I wake up.

My dr does have me on Nexium. That GENEPRO seems to be working for me although I still feel nauseaous. But like I said, if I sit still, I don't feel like that. Only when mobile. You sound like my dr saying I need to suck it up. It's very easy to say that!!! Trust me, I'm trying my very best to do what I'm supposed to. One thing I haven't been doing is eating because I hate the feeling I get. Like it's just sitting there. I did pick up some yogurt and apple sauce yesterday so I'll be trying to get down what I can.

Hi guys. How do I mix GENEPRO into hot decaf coffee without it being grainy? Also can I ditch the shakes since I use genepro now? I really don't like the shakes anymore. Sent from my Nexus 5 using the BariatricPal App

@@brather You need to transition to unflavored Protein and incorporate it into the foods you're eating. You can add it to any hot or cold beverage, Soups, soft foods, yogurts, etc. There are many brands like Quest, Isopure, Syntrax, GENEPRO, as well as powders made from plant Proteins, too.

I use GENEPRO as well, it's the only Protein powder I can't smell or taste in food or drinks. I tried about 8 others and ended up staying with Genepro. If you're not on a PPI or an acid reducer, that could be the cause of your nausea. Bottom line for all of you who are having nausea is that you HAVE to get in some protein and fluids, some way. Unless you're actively vomiting up everything, you have to suck it up and drink a shake/eat a yogurt/whatever. Nausea, weakness and a sensitive stomach are an awful, downward spiral...you can't stop feeling weak and nauseated unless you get something into your sensitive, nauseated stomach. Don't slam 8 oz at once, but get a covered cup, stick a straw in it and sip that nasty shake or thinned out yogurt or warm broth or whatever you choose, but put something into your body. I'm in my 6th post-op month and I still have bouts of nausea and am having issues with meat, but I'm putting food/drink into my stomach and keeping my energy up so that I can get past this phase. You can do it, too, I promise!

Are you just adding your GENEPRO to plain Water? That could be why ou can taste it. If you drink coffee, tea or something hot it works great!! But...add it to a little hot water and whisk it a little before you add it to something. My hubby adds it to his chocolate Almond Milk, do the same thing with a whisk. I have done that also. But I have to shoot it like a shot of alcohol. LOL

I went and picked up GENEPRO from my local GNC. Added it to my Water content and it doesn't taste that bad. Of course I can still taste it, but not as bad as those shakes. Hopefully I can go with this for a while. Anyone got any advice on feeling nauseous all the time? It's like whenever I smell something or move around, I get that feeling. The only thing that works is just sitting down. I tried calling my Dr but I guess the office is closed today because no answer. I can't understand why all of a sudden I'm feeling like this. I've never felt so nauseated in my life!!!

Dealing with anxiety by buying protein powders?
theantichick replied to gonefromhere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, yeah, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm stocking up on pretty much all of the variety/sampler packs I can find, plus I got a tub each of unjury and GENEPRO unflavored. I did get a full tub of a key lime pie though because it's my absolute favorite flavor for everything, but I'll probably mostly finish it pre-op. oh, then you're fine. -

Dealing with anxiety by buying protein powders?
y0lis replied to gonefromhere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was feeling the same way but after my consult with my dietician I feel better she recommended GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. I found it on Amazon. I plan to use this post op it has no flavor and can be mixed with anything including Water to help get in all your protein. I am using Premier Protein shakes for pre op. Good Luck to you! -
Each person is different, but my doctor wants me doing between 60-80 grams of Protein a day. Anything above that is just wasted calories I'm told. I have a scoop (1 T = 30g) of GENEPRO a morning in an ounce of Powerade Zero. It's like doing a shot to supplement my protein intake. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Unflavored Protein question
ShelterDog64 replied to Christina.Rose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Christina.Rose I purchased several unflavored Protein powders and tried them pre-op. At that time I thought unjury and Syntrax were the best. Isopure's unflavored variety smelled horrible to me and I could taste it. Post-op it was a different story...I used Isopure's low-carb chocolate powder a little, but it's got a weird chemical taste that I just don't like. The unflavored Isopure remains my least favorite. I became sensitive to the smell and taste of both Unjury and Syntrax unflavored, I don't like the Unjury chicken broth, either but do like the citrus flavors of Syntrax Nectars. My hands-down favorite unflavored protein is GENEPRO. I can't smell or taste it in food or drinks and it doesn't bother my stomach. I've been using it for 5 months and am losing very well with it. I recently bought a container of Quest unflavored just to see what it's like and I had to return it to GNC. It was disgusting. -
They don't have it in the store, at least not where I live. There is a lot of controversy about Genepro, my surgeon does not recommend it, but I was having the same issues as the original poster so I got some to try. Eh. I put it in a mixture of Water with a little grape juice (I am allowed unsweetened juices) People say they can't taste it but I sure could. Plus it make the color weird and the whole thing thick. But hey, it may work for you.

With all that said about GENEPRO how may I ask can they get away with stating it has 30grams when it really has 15. For myself I LOVE it!! Now I'm not just saying this like I am new at this Protein dilemma I'm 3 years out. I started my Preop diet of Protein drinks for 2 weeks and my postop I used PREMUIR Protein drinks. I had 4 weeks of BACK DOOR TROTS!! I became Lactose Intolerant. On to trying to find a drink that I liked. I would honestly hate to find out how much money I had spent on protein junk!! So this GENEPRO is the only one that has lived up to the no taste thing!! For one thing, I am a coffee drinker so I make me a cup of Keurig espresso coffee and I add GENEPRO to it!! No change in taste or texture. I would drink my coffee anyway so for me it is a WIN WIN!!

Hi everyone! Made this in my slow cooker today. Though I am well beyond puree stage I sill eat a lot of Soup and this was delicious. Of course, I also added some GENEPRO Protein powder! Butternut Squash Bisque INGREDIENTS:32 oz cubed butternut squash 2 large shallots, quartered 2 cups chicken broth 1 tbsp chopped garlic 3/4 cup coconut milk pinch nutmeg DIRECTIONS: Place the squash, shallots, garlic and broth in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8 hours or high 4 hours, until soft and cooked through, a knife should easily be inserted. Stir in coconut milk and nutmeg. Blend in a blender or using an immersion blender. 2 week liquid diet
YaneR321 replied to KaylaWls1216's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a premier Protein (30 grams of protein) shake for Breakfast, sugar free Jello for my snack, I drink 16oz of crystal light mixed with GENEPRO Tasteless Protein powder (30 grams of protein) for lunch I have chicken broth. If I'm still hungry when I get home I eat another sugar free jello and for dinner I have another premier Protein Shake. I try to get in 90 grams of protein. My nutritionist recommended Genepro, so I bought a can. Then I started reading about it. The serving size is 15 grams, but they claim 30 grams of Protein is contained in that 15 gram serving. There is also an asterisk or two next to that. Watching their promotional video is like science fiction. They are claiming to shrink molecules down to smaller sizes so they can get all 30 grams in. We have a saying out in the country about trying to fit two pounds of poop into a one pound bag. I will not be buying it again. I have been drinking various flavors of Gold Standard. Now that I am back to food, I am eating meat with a side of meat, and have cut way back on the shakes.

@@Jobey Wow, you look great ! Congratulations! Yes, I too noticed slowing down of my weight loss. I lost 33kg/72 Ib in my first 6-7 months. Lately I have been sitting on 68kg/149 Ib for the past 6-7 weeks, and it is not budging. I even made a post about it in the General Gastric Sleeve: "I'm still Shrinking", as I am still losing my measurements. I am very close to Goal, and I don't like my scales right now, but my wrist, shoe size, arms and face are showing more changes. Plus my clothes are getting looser still. I have changed to mostly Protein diet now, and I got my GENEPRO Protein powder from the States that I add to my coffee now. Still add my Aussie protein powder to my yoghurt. For me, the honey moon period finished after 6-7 months, hunger returned and weight loss slowed. Thank goodness for NSVs! @@Jobey I am in Queensland too, moved to the Gold Coast few years ago (from Sydney).

Stayed home with supportive hubby who didn't get any fatty food or beer. I made a healthy veggie casserole for us as well as a hash brown casserole for him. He made himself some gammon and I just ate a few small servings of casserole throughout the day as well as sugarfree chai tea with GENEPRO and almond milk. Sucks not participating in usual traditions, but avoiding what I KNOW will be a huge temptation is the best thing for me. Hope everyone had a happy Tgiving!
