I am ready to try yogurts again. I know Greek yogurt is the best option but I can't find any that are low carb enough. My favorite brand is Cabot and chobani but they seem to have too much sugar... Like 10-30 grams. What is everyone using? Thanks

RNY 12/17 Difficult reaching protein and fluid goals
Meera replied to Shellbrand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey i am 4weeks post op on Monday, if you can't keep up with protein don't worry as long you drinking enough fluids ideally with electrolytes as I think that's why you feel weak because of dehydration. Get electrolyte powder and add to ur water with water flavouring or squash, drink apple juice and any juices you like, have yogurts and make urself some meat/poultry broths and have about 3oz of that at each sitting ideally aim for 5meals aday and you will be okay. Starting the process
Creekimp13 replied to Tysheena84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, eliminating all processed sugars and white flour...had an immediate impact on my weight loss. I lost like crazy just doing these two things. I still ate a ton of carbs, but I ate good whole carbs with dietary fiber...beans, potatos, chickpeas, nuts, whole grains, whole fruits and veggies....and stayed away from white bread, processed foods, stuff with added sugar and no fiber like juices and jellies. I also eliminated processed products with fats, fried stuff, and fatty meats. Learned to put low fat plain yogurt and salt and pepper on my baked potatoes....replaced butter and animal fat in cooking with extra virgin olive oil. Everyone has a different diet they prefer...I tend to follow Mediterannian or Mayo Clinic diet. Getting your steps is brilliant and will get your metabolism going like crazy. I started at 5000 steps a day and gradually increased in little baby steps to 12,000 a day. I get 20,000 some days now because I really enjoy walking and being active...but most days are 10 to 12,000 now. Being active will help you so much. Best wishes! You got this! -
I eat mostly yogurt, protein drinks, lean meats, cheese, chili, raw veggies

I had a .2cc un-fill today. I’d love to hear about your un-fill story too. Here’s my story: For 3 months (since my last fill) I had been getting stuck easily, struggling to eat most foods, except for soft foods. I was eating a lot of protein shakes, Greek yogurt, plain oatmeal, mashed potatoes, frozen yogurt, and lots of “bites” of just about anything – even very bad things – because after all, it was just a bite, right (problem, I know). Even though I wasn’t eating much at a single sitting, I guess I was eating too much because I did not loose one pound in 3 months. Most of the time I was stuck or afraid to get stuck. Thankfully, no other symptoms of being too tight (no cough, no reflux, etc). I was always 1 of 3 things: Starving, Stuck, or full on liquids/soft. I was never: Full of food (satisfied), and could not go very long without being hungry again. I thought that was normal. But I was not loosing weight and was frustrated! But, today, my doctor suggested removing .2cc from the band. NOT what I was expecting! He said I’m eating too much and not enough: Too much slippery food, with too many calories; not enough solid food. I was nervous, and still a little concerned about what this is going to be like. I’m also cautiously optimistic. I had the un-fill at 12pm, but had not eaten anything all day, so I was really hungry (I always go to the doctor on a “fast,” incase they need to draw blood, do an ultrasound, etc.). After the un-fill I headed to Chipotle and devoured 2/3 of a chicken bowl. I have not eaten like that in months! It was soooo satisfying. Bad news, I consumed ¾ of my daily calories. Good news, I have not been hungry since then (9 hours ago!!!). Wow! I ate! I really ate and loved it (though was slow and careful about chewing), I got full (not stuck) and stopped eating, then stayed full all day! Amazing. I’m not sure what to expect and I’m worried about eating too much or being too hungry. However, I’m going to track on My Fitness Pal, and hope to be back on track. Has anyone had an un-fill and started loosing weight again???

Help Post Op Sleevers!
nsquared replied to blondie311's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am sorry about the blackout. I hope you didn't injure yourself. Unfortunately, I can't offer advise about that but I can comment on the throat feeling. I am 8 weeks post op and that throat feeling just started to go away for me about 2 weeks ago. Two things: chew until your food is the consistency of yogurt so it doesn't get stuck on the way down. That throat feeling is murder and I spent lots of time hurling because of it. Second, take small bites and fully swallow before you take your next bite. That way, you know the food has gone down and you can actually decide if you really need that next bite or if you're full in your new little belly. Those things worked for me. I was not eating too much, but eating too fast and not chewing enough. Hope it helps! -
This is my un-fill story, what's yours?
OldMomOf3 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Daccop, I was banded in June and losing just fine (-30 in 3 months). Then I went into see the doctor and he was not there, so I saw a substitute doctor. He was an idiot and has since been fired. However, he told me to stop tracking my food (because that's real life and skinny people don't track their food) and get a fill. He filled me too tight and left me feeling miseralbe, but he convinced me that I was just fine and that is what banded life would be like. So, for the next 3 months I was getting stuck all of the time, not losing and thinking that was the way I would be for the rest of my life. I stopped going to the doctor for a few months because I was so embarased that I was not loosing weight. Then I went back in and they told me I just wasn't exercising enough. Which was true, but not the entire problem. Even with moderate exercise I was not losing weight because I was eating way too many sliders which were too high in calorie or carbs (frozen yogurt, oatmeal, extra mayo on tuna so it would go down, etc). So, I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 months and 3 pounds in the second 3 months. I kind of feel like a fat, fat, fat failure. But, I think things will get better. I'm tracking again and making much smarter choices. Also, with the holidays behind me, I feel ready to take on the next 3 months! -
I can't eat it as a "yogurt". I eat it more as a sour cream replacement/dip. Mix salsa with it and dip veggies. Add it to a soup to make it creamy. When I think of it as sour cream instead of yogurt it works, if that makes sense!

I tried that key lime Greek yogurt too. If its the same brand it was 12g protein and 160 cals. I'd like to try the crystal light in the plain Greek yogurt too. Good call!

HELP How do I get all my protein?
BLERDgirl replied to chip305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask her to give you a sample diet to follow. I meet my Protein requirements, but I do have at least one Protein shake a day. I eat between 600 - 800 calories a day. My Breakfast is a shake using Isopure unflavored whey Protein powder, ½ cup of Fage 0% greek yogurt and either a bit of fresh fruit or a tablespoon of almond butter. Occasionally I add ½ a tbsp of raw honey. To this I add ½ a cup of Water and mix it in the nutra bullet. I drink half before my morning workout and the other half post workout. This yields 30 - 38 gms of protein. The rest of the day is easy since I've now gotten most of my protein in. I then eat regular lunch. Pretty much whatever strikes my fancy. Sometimes it's just a soft scrambled egg with a tsp of salsa and a bit of avocado, or it could be blackbeans with a sunnyside up egg and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. I spend most of the afternoon sipping water. dinner varies from Soup to a small salad with a hardboiled egg and/or a meat substitute (I am vegetarian) That could be tofu, tempeh, seitan, and occasionally Beyond meat products. I typically dress my salads with a bit of EVOO. My avg protein consumed this week is 67.5 I am not saying it can't be done, but if she wants you to keep your calories that low, meet your protein requirements, AND not use any Protein shakes, she needs to provide you with some specific examples. -
HELP How do I get all my protein?
samuelsmom replied to chip305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@chip305 I couldn't possibly follow that plan. I know one of the dangers of WLS is grazing, however, I just cannot eat that much at one meal and am hungry about 2 hours later. A snack of greek yogurt or a cheese stick works great for me. If this is something you can do, great, however, I would recommend a call to the nutritionist if not. For Protein ideas: Fish, eggs, and meat are all good sources. As are lentils. Peanut Butter (if you can tolerate it at this point) is a good protein source also. I usually do have one protein shake a day to help me meet my goals. I also think it a good idea to ask for a sample menu as recommended in a prior post. Good Luck! -
Watermelon, pineapple, kale. mmmmmm You can thow in a little bit of plain nf greek yogurt if you want.

Realize band C?
Pittsburgher replied to Pittsburgher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also she said to eat more Snacks because i was only eating about 900 cals per day. She said this might be why im hungry. She also yelled at me because last month she told me to increase my cals to at least 1000. I did try. I added low fat granola to my yogurt and 1oz pretzels as a snack. Both she said are simple carbs and to NOT eat them. Ok ok i get it. Off the shopping list. She wants me to add another yogurt, cheese stick instead of the granola and pretzels. I am already getting anywhere from 90~115 g of Protein daily. Ughhh...... -
Almost a week post-op, just now experiencing nausea
GinaSq replied to girlonfire89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and started feeling nausea and vomiting about 4-5 days ago. Has been constant if I try to eat anything (yogurt, Water, tea, etc) Not from over-eating since it usually occurs after one or two small sips or bites. -
April 6 surgeries
bananabellyaches replied to Lucilla's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved April 4th & today is the first day I could have soft food. This morning tried 2 bites of cottage cheese & one bite of yogurt. Stomach made a lot of noises - but feel ok. First 2 weeks was Clear Liquids, 3rd week was liquids that run easily thru a strainer. I made homemade black bean Soup & put it thru the blender. Hands down best thing I've tried besides Campbell's soup on the go (not allowed tomato soup). Also, tried a frozen Greek yogurt bar last night & had no problems. Planning on trying a few bites of egg for lunch. Premier Protein chocolate shakes are the only ones I'm interested in now. Liked the strawberry & vanilla first 2 weeks, but now I'm sick of them. All other Protein Shakes just turn me off now. Shakes I used to drink regularly before surgery now are hard to get down. I do drink a whey "Nectar" drink in tropical flavor with my powdered bariatric Vitamins in it & it's ok for 24g of protein. I add spoonful of Isopure non- flavored protein to my soup & coffee (mix it w/bit Water first). G2 & Powerade zero taste delicious to me right now. So I drink quite a few ice cold drinks & my Fluid intake is very good. MyraLax is a must for me every day too. Painful spot next to my belly button that burns with a sharp pain! Drives me nuts cause I'm wanting to physically do so many things. Doc's office said its where they put extra stitch to prevent hernias. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Disney vacation planning... newly sleeved.
bmxmama2 replied to kns2033's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of those are great ideas, but you do need to get your water in. I live near Disney, and our winter is not like actual winter. February is often in the 80s and extremely sunny. Dehydration can happen year round. If you don’t want to carry food around, Disney has lots of options that can be fairly inexpensive. There are stands everywhere with healthy snacks so you aren’t spending a lot on huge meals that would take a month to eat. I usually get a kid’s meal with grilled chicken, side salad or broccoli, yogurt, and bottled water for $4.95. They have condiment bars with the peanut butter containers that I take for snacks. Have fun! You’ll have a great time! -
Ice cream?
Racheepoo99 replied to shelbyschroepfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
U could try some frozen Greek yogurt. In the freezers section of the groc store. I tried some once and was fine but I only ate like a tablespoon of it. -

Question one week tomorrow!
limbo6 replied to kimberly1184's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i've been doing sugar-free pudding with Protein powder. yogurt makes me gag...trying some now and my stomach is gurgling like crazy. i will be one week out tomorrow and getting my staples out. i find that F/F creamed soups are quite tasty and comforting and i have been using carnation no sugar added protein shakes. they taste so much better than that clumpy Protein Powder crap i bought. i add 1 tbsp of instant decaf coffed dissolved in hot Water to the shake to make it a cafe mocha flavor. no problem getting those down. -
I'm home and high as a kite on pain meds. Pretty sore but it wasn't too bad. They did use general anesthia instead of just a local with sedation. He went in thru the same incision site so that was nice. It turned out to just be a kinked tubing. He removed the scar tissue and unkinked it. And bonus - he did a fill right on the table. Can't tell much but I feel a bit full on half a yogurt. Seems to be staying down fine. Hard way to get a fill but glad it's done. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. It helps so much to know you have such good friends on your side.

Protein Only
Inner Surfer Girl replied to drumking88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I avoid starches and added sugars, not all carbs. I choose yogurts, etc. with the highest protein to carb ratio. Danon Light and Fit Greek, Fage, etc.
