I actually saw you post something on another person's page and I was wondering..... I just got banded on 5/20 and I have lost 10 lbs post-op and 6 pre-op so thats 16lbs total. Buuuuuut now I am on puree and for whatever reason have not lost anymore weight!!! I'm super upset about it because I liked stepping on the scale every morning seeing another lbs gone.... any suggestions... I try to get my protein in but its rather hard with the amount of space I have. I have also noticed today that I can eat more than usual... I can't wait to get a fill!!! Thanks for your help! ttyl

I had my surgery on May20th and I am starting to feel better mentally and physically now. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything it was wayy harder than I expected! It's painful after the surgery ( mainly the incisions sites). I am sooo happy that I did it though. I am very proud that I made the decision and now I am looking forward to my first fill. I lost 6 lbs pre-op and then since my surgery I've lost another 10 lbs... I am now on the puree diet and I haven't really lost any weight since. My doctor informed me that once my band/stomach recover from the surgery I will have little to no restriction on eating. I'm trying to start exercising by walking now because I don't want to push it. Feel free to ask ANY questions! I don't mind at all..... I'm glad I came to this forum because it really helps to have people to talk to. Talk to you later!! Good Luckkk I am super excited for you!!

I had my lap band surgery on may 5th and find i can eat anything w/out really feeling a restriction. My first fill will be on june 8th. I hope that will really be when the weight loss starts. I've lost 10 pounds so far because I am making an effort to eat less and exercise. Is this typical?

I'm sure you're sick of hearing this but congrats on your continued success! We have alot in common. I see we're the same age, were banded around the same time (sept 25th for me) and work agressively to achieve our goals. I've lost 106 lbs so far and have about 80-85 more to go. I started at 359 and am going to 170. I see you're in the NYC area i'm in JC (right across the bridge-10 mins away) and am always in the city. Holla at me if you ever need a workout buddy for the day...my sneakers are always ready to go!

So did you have to pay anything for your surgery? yeah it kinda sucks going through insurance but I'd rather do it than shell out 10 to 20 thousand dollars! I'm sooo excited but I dont want to get my hopes up too high until I know if I am approved or not. When do you get your first fill? Or did they fill you during surgery? I've heard surgeons do it both ways.

So my post op appt went EXACTLY as you described... Definately uneventful... I go for my first fill on 6/19 I'll let you know how that goes too! I hope you and the kids are doing great and look forward to talking to you.

hello i was wondering how much exercise were you doing to drop that much weight in 10 months?You look great.

Hi! How are things going? Did you get your 2nd fill yet? I am scheduled for may 19, but they said I could come in sooner. I think I will schedule something sooner. I am doing good and seeing progress, but it's slow and I can get more food that I did when I first got my fill! Cake is still hard for me to eat! But I am okay with that. Cookies are not a problem though! : ) But still, I only have 1 or 2 if I do indulge. My mammo went well, the spot they were concerned about turned out be nothing. All is good! Yeah!

I'm sorry you're not feeling restriction. I had my fill today and it was much easier than I thought. No pain at all. Now a liquid diet for 2 days and I'm supposed to go back in 10 days if I don't feel restriction. He put in 3.5 ccs in a 10-11 cc band.

Well during my 2 week preop diet I lost 19 lbs. Then the week after surgery I lost 11 more. I had surgery on Feb 5th. I have actually gained back a couple of lbs becuase I am still not filled to the correct amount. I had a fill on March 16th at 4cc's but I was up all night getting sick so I went back on March 17th and got 2 ccs out. Then on April 14th I got another fill of 1 cc so I am at 3 now and I still don't have very much restriction. I just called today to reschedule my next fill to May 12th. That is the soonest they can get me in because I have to see Deperi or Webb because neither Welchel or Hagen could find my port. I really like Webb anyway because when he gives a fill I don't even feel the needle! I don't know how he does it! By the way I was very skeptical about going to Memorial for the surgery but I was very impressed with the whole thing I hope that helps

I had surgery yesterday morning, and it went great. I pretty much didn't have any gas pain, but I still got and walked around a lot. At first they were telling me I'd be staying the night, but my surgeon came by about 7 p.m. and was impressed I was up walking around, so he said I could go home if I wanted to. It took the nurses forever to get my discharge stuff together, so we left about 10 p.m. I slept pretty good last night because my pain medicine knocks me out, but I woke up with a headache because I slept in one position all night, so I felt all stiff. I've been pretty sleepy all day because of the pain meds, but I figure sine I don't have gas pain it's not too bad that I've been sleeping alot.

Overall, I'm very happy and feel very lucky that I am feeling so good at this point. Wouldn't want to be going anywhere just yet, but I'm able to get up and walk around and use the bathroom whenever I feel like it.

I got my first fill this morning and it was interesting. He put in 3.4 cc in my 10 cc band. I can really feel the restriction now. I feel like i did the first day after my surgery.

i will defintely need plastic surgery!!!!!!!!!! i have 8-10 pounds of excess skin on the lower part of my stomach....it looks like the 126 pounds all fell to the bottom...i just dont take pix of that mess...lol...i am having a panniculectomy in august....

I had my surgery on April 15, 2009. and I go in May 19, 2009 for my first fill. I am excited and a little nervous about that. I was taken off ALL my meds and i am so excited about that. I am feeling better today then i did before i had my surgery. Where do you live? Im in Little Rock, AR.

What are you doing as far as food? I've been eating a lot of yogurt and applesauce. I tried Malt O Meal yesterday morning and all that seems to be fine. When I have any cream soup or like the spaghetti sauce last night I get HORRIBLE heartburn.

My husband bought me one of those arm bands like they use on the biggest loser so I can count my steps. I've been doubling my activity everyday since surgery.

I have to go back to work in two days and I'm really worried about the gas and bowel issues. My bowels are so LOUD it is embarrassing!!! Like just sitting there everything moving around inside, you can hear it accross the room.

I haven't been able to do three shakes a day either. My shake has 26grams per serving so, I really only need to do 2 if I get protein from food. HEY SF fudsicles have 2 grams EACH!!

I've also already lost 10 lbs. Keep me updated on your progress.

We'll sorry for the long delay but the doctor had me go back to work sooner than I thought I would have to. I had about 20 lbs off before I started work but not it's about 15. I work 10 to 12 hour days and stopped working out. I was filled once with only 2.5cc and he said that was pretty aggressive for not doing it under xray, I wanted more but have another appt this Wednesday the 13th. I still have a pain in my left shoulder from that gas they put in you to expand your belly area. When I eat too much it hurts in my shoulders and when I bend over, weird ain't it. The doctor said it will go away but it hasn't yet. My wife and I are going to get memberships to Golds Gym so lets see if I use it. I have to get in the right state of mind and JUST DO IT!!

I can eat just about anything for the most part which kinda bums me out. I don't eat as much so thats good just wish I was losing weight but I know its because fo not working out. Have you still been doing OK?

im in germany right now @ ramstein and i was just wondering if you ever heard of anyone getting it done at landstuhl? i know this is stupid but im so embarrased to even call for an appointment with my regular provider. im afraid ill get denied. im 22 5'8 246 pounds. i have arthritus and a hip dieses that can only be cured by a hip replacement.i just had my first son back in november and i cant even sit on the floor for 10 minutes without my butt and back hurting from all the weight.

do you think i have a chance?

2-day is my 7th month bandiversary and im 120 pounds down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant say enuff good things about the band...yes...i've had to work very hard...yes i had to change the way i eat and view food...yes i have to exercise...is exercising and eating healthy worth looking better...feeling better...wearing a size 10?????????OH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt need much conveincing...i was 296 pounds...double chin...fat face...i was disgusted with myself...i was convinced anything was better than living in that huge ...sloppy body...and i'm right!!!!!!!!!!! as far as complications...i consider mine to b the norm...if i eat to fast or dont chew good...yes i will pb...did i lose hair...yes and its now growing back...when ur morbidly obese there r far more complications!!!!!!!!!!

Hey girl! So nice to hear from you. I have been doing ok. Gained a couple of pounds back. Been really stressed out caring for my mother and feel into some really BAD eating habits but I am back now. Had to start all over again and get back on track and it really sucks!!! Was only 10 pounds from my personal goal and now its 18 but the point is Im back and now more determined than ever to get this darn weight off. Hope everything is going good for you. Cant wait to see some recent photos. I know you are doing well. Gotta run for now. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Thanks, I was just working what I already had, lol! I am so excited for my surgery on June 11th, though not really looking forward to the 10 day all liquid diet. I'll get through it though. Anyway, to answer Songbird09, my family and friends are concerned about the same thing, but I am just gonna see how it goes as I lose the weight. I just tell myself that it doesn't happen overnight so I will be able to adjust to how I look myself.

I see you are 19... my son will be 19 next week and is having surgery on 6-11-09... How are you doing so far? What is the hardest part socially? Did you tell your friends you had this done? Any words of wisdom I can give him would be great...
