GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
getoverit replied to getoverit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Report away! No personal attack at all, just factual and truthful reply to A RUDE POSTING! LOL! What ever goes on, the truth hurts unfortunately and LOTS of people would rather pop off with an attitude in response to the truth instead of receiving the truth and doing something with it to improve thier lives and condition. Posting a tick tock reply with rude sentiment isnt a personal attack? Thats some more of that defensive EMOTIONAL response that will keep people like that in a vicious cycle that will never be broken until they face the facts, period. So you think its a one way street here when it comes to these postings? If, so part of the problem and not helping to find a solution. My inital posting was serious and meant to help people struggling to understand the Genepro thing so they could get on with being healthy! I didnt come out of the blue with defensive postings but i wont sit around and let 12,000 plus poster be rude to me because they think they can and again, all ive done in replying to that member is state the truth and facts. Sorry if the truth and facts bother you. -
GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Not a shill at all and thats a promise on all 5 of my grandchildren! I just got tired of hearing all the misinfo being spread around and look at what your respected member "TOMO" replied in this posting and TOMO has been around here and is in no way a "shill". TOMO said replied: "Genepro is endorsed and recommended by many medical facilities, including UCLA School of Medicine to all their bariatric patients. GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!

You're so obviously a shill for this stuff. You come and you register an account just so you can post this. You contribute literally nothing else to the site. And for what it's worth, I started in the bariatric program at UCLA and have never heard anyone suggest GENEPRO. Protein is protein. What your body doesn't need, it gets rid of by pooping it out. "WhY wOuLd YoU pUt YoUr BoDy ThRu ThAt" lol, literally everyone poops, there was a whole children's book about it. -
GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
getoverit replied to getoverit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Court ruled and they changed the label and UCLA medical center and LOTS of other Dr's recommend the GENEPRO protein above all others! Thats a fact! Label has been changed on GENEPRO 3 and old label states it is equivalent too what you would absorb out of 30 grams of protein via whey protein. Protein is solid and labelling stunk so it was changed! LOL! 30 grams of whey protein will only net you approx 10 grams of protein as the absorption rate is horrible! 1 tablespoon nets you over 10 grams of protein that will actually be absorbed by your body vs ingesting 30 grams of whey that your body will expel over 60% of! WHY WOULD YOU PUT YOUR BODY THRU THAT? LOL! -
GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
getoverit replied to getoverit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
They were sued for labeling that was confusing/misleading and it went to court and there was a judgement reached. Your ignorance and attitude is more then likely how you ended up where you did. As another member here replied: "UCLA recommends GENEPRO to all their patients" so i guess you are smarter and possess more knowledge then the staff and Dr's at UCLA medical center? Lose your attitude and open your mind and you might be a lot happier in your life...or maybe not as you might just be one of those miserable people that point their finger at everybody else instead of looking in the mirror when it comes to their issues. ??? Good luck to you! -

GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Soon2bFit21 replied to getoverit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Nice spam post and complete and utter garbage. This is why Genepro has been sued over this bogus claim. The only reason this was thrown out of court is the shady way this business is run and the wrong “owner” was named. -
GENEPRO GEN 2 PROTEIN COUNT EXPLAINED ONCE AND FOR ALL!
getoverit posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
So ive read over and over and over how Genepro protein powder is lieing about having 30 grams of protein per serving and how it cant have 30 grams of protein in it if it only has 58 calories in it cuz protein has 4 calories per gram and on and on and on and yadda yadda yadda! UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU READ!!!!!! They are saying that their serving size gives you THE EQUIVALENT AMOUNT OF PROTEIN THAT WILL BE ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY AS IN A 30 GRAM SCOOP OF WHEY PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!! 1 tblspn of Genepro 2 will give you the same protein blood level (actual absorbed protein into your body/blood) count as a 30 gram scoop of whey protein because whey protein has a very low rate of absorption by the human body!!!!!! I agree the label can be a bit tough to understand unless you read what it says EXACTLY! You will see the 30 gram statement followed by ** and when you go down to what ** means/relates too, its the clinical study that showed just what ive stated above...that 1 tablespoon of Genepro 2 will give your body the same amount of ABSORBED PROTEIN AS 30 GRAMS OF WHEY PROTEIN! Whey protein has a very low rate of absorption...approx 30-45% MAX absorption rate with most being around the 30-35% which means a scoop of whey protein that contains 30 grams of protein gives you about 10-12 grams of protein that is actually absorbed by the body. 1 tablespoon of GENEPRO 2 gives you approx 10-12 grams of protein absorbed by the body! Clinical study proved that 1 Tablespoon of GENEPRO 2 would give you the same amount of ABSORBED PROTEIN as a scoop of whey protein containing 30 grams of protein! GOT IT???? LOL! Thats laymens terms of course but i think thats what is need here and it needed to be repeated a few times for normal folks to grasp! LOL! AGAIN...BOTTOM LINE LAYMENS TERMS...1 TABLESPOON OF GENEPRO2 GIVES YOU THE SAME AMOUNT OF PROTEIN ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY AS A SCOOP OF WHEY PROTEIN CONTAINING 30 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. Genepro2 has a very high absorption rate...so consider a scoop of Genepro2 will get you approx 10-15 grams of protein absorbed by your body! ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY IS THE IMPORTANT FACT/NUMBER ETC AS WHATS NOT ABSORBED DOESNT DO YOU ANY GOOD! Some vitamins are the same way, examples being D, magnesium and others...to get 50 mgs ABSORBED BY YOUR BODY YOU HAVE TO TAKE 5 TIMES MORE/250 MGS SINCE ABSORPTION RATE IS SO POOR. I hope this helps and remember that 1 serving of the GENEPRO2 will get you about 10-15 grams of protein absorbed by the body. If you need to get an extra 75 grams of protein above what you will eat in your food then you will need to take 5-7 scoops/serving sizes. FOR BEST RESULTS AS FAR AS TASTE OR CHEMICAL SMELL GOES...DO NOT HEAT UP PROTEIN AT ALL! MIX IT COLD WITH SOMETHING AND POUND IT DOWN QUICKLY! I have always lifted weights and worked out seriously and have learned over the years how much my body can absorb of any given protein product. Your body will only absorb its max amount of protein and then it will come out your rear end! We have always tought other people that were lifting weights and taking supplements to gain lean muscle mass to find that max point with which ever protein product you are using and then back down from there. Work your way up to max rate when your body will get rid of excess and then slowly back down servings until you hit that happy point. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL! -
Surgery is scheduled for 10/21!
lizonaplane replied to hopeainsley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish my tastes had changed after surgery, but they did not. I still can't stand protein powder (it's the texture - I only like pre-mixed shakes) and I still love sweets. I have tried the vegan shakes, but they are very gritty to me. If you have a dairy allergy, those will likely be your only option, as the others (including the two most popular unflavored options - isopure and genepro) are whey isolate. However, if you are just lactose intolerant, you are likely to be able to use the whey protein isolate, as it is lactose free. I like the fairlife nutrition plan shakes the best. Those are lactose and gluten free but NOT DAIRY free. Please note that a LOT of brands made with whey isolate will say "dairy free" but obviously, they are not dairy free (for example, Muscle Milk). Good luck! -
I usually try to get 1.5 servings of fruit per day and I always try to get some veggies in. Right now since I'm close to 7 weeks post-op revision to RNY, I am still keeping it in liquid form so I make a protein shake. I put a tablespoon of Genepro, baby spinach, 1/2 frozen banana, 4-6 strawberries (sometimes add plums and/or mango) with unsweetened almond milk (or lowfat kefir) and ice in a blender. Vegetables I've been either air frying zucchini or putting napa cabbage, spinach... Etc. in my broths.

2 week pre-surgery diet
Tomo replied to oldandtired's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I understand, as long as there are no bits and pieces, both are fully accepted. On my clear liquid diet which is more strict (I hated it lol), bone broth was encouraged. My favorite protein is Genepro. I even use it in my coffee lol. -

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Tomo replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Tiffany2021 replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will try the warm water. I do drink the sugar free propel and crystal lite throughout the day. I don't seem to like water right now, so I don't drink enough of it. I don't drink the protein shakes much either, but I did buy some Genepro unflavored protein powder and mix it in things to make sure I get my protein in everyday. I should probably not get on the scale everyday when I am in a stall! Hopefully things will get moving again in both areas lol. -
I am allowed to drink homemade protein shakes and I had surgery on August 4th. For example, I had genepro Fruity Oh's flavor, kefir, strawberries, banana and 2 plums. I couldn't drink it all at once but over the course of the morning, it went down. Can always call your team and ask them. My team had no problem with it. Said I can start solids now.

9 Days post-DS Surgery problems with Protein Shakes
Sunnyway replied to Randall Morgan's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Try the shakes room-temperature if you have been taking them chilled, or chilled if you have been taking them room temp. I've noticed that there is a difference. You might try diluting them with fat-free milk or water. I find the plant-based shakes and powders easier than the whey-based. Examples: Orgain and Purely Inspired brands. Or try flavorless powder from GenePro (or another brand) in liquids you do tolerate. Hopefully you will be past the need for protein shakes and powder soon. -
Meal Planning - Nutrients, calories what is most important to you?!
Tomo replied to dwaite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nice post. Look forward to other replies! I don't normally watch carbs. Protein, as most of us, is my focus. Since I focus on protein, the carbs are naturally low. Also, low calories tend to be low carbs for me at the moment. In the morning, I like having miso soup with vegetables and silken tofu in it. Sometimes watered down congee with a soft egg & sesame oil. The soup gives me a jumpstart on getting some liquids in. For lunch/dinner, one of my favorite meals is 50g baked salmon (or soft fish) with soy sauce/lemon/wasabi and/or other spices. If I have room, a couple of bites of veggies. For snacks, my current favorite is a grapefruit juice popsicle that I make with my favorite grapefruit juice. I also like semi-frozen unsweetened granny smith applesauce or some other pureed fruit like mango. For drinks, I like adding True lemon, orange, grapefruit or lime to my ice water. For protein shakes, I like 1 cup of skim milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 to 2T PB2 powder and a scoop of Genepro. -
Meal Planning - Nutrients, calories what is most important to you?!
Crick replied to dwaite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So my primary focus is on getting protein first and foremost. Partially because it’s filling and partially because I am working out so much that I need the protein for my muscles. I eat 3 meals a day and usually 1 snack. I definitely try to avoid refined carbs for the most part. Now, I’m not going to lie - I’ve had a cookie 3 or 4 times, or a tiny scoop of gourmet ice cream, but those are occasional one-offs and not something I keep in my house. I’m currently at about 1200 calories a day. My breakfast is pretty boring - I either have chobani less sugar added Greek yogurt with a scoop of genepro protein powder, 15-16 raspberries or 10-12 blackberries, and 1/3 a cup of purely Elizabeth grain free granola, or half an “egg wrap” - which is using a low carb tortilla (I like the ole version), egg, grilled veggies (zucchini, red pepper, yellow pepper, red onion, zucchini and spinach), ground turkey sausage, and shredded mozzarella. Lunch and dinner are just dependent on what I’ve cooked - usually something like spinach stuffed chicken breasts, a fajita bowl (meat, a little cheese, grilled onions, and salsa), ground chicken burger, taco salad, etc. Snacks are usually one of the following - 3 apple slices with 2 TBS natural peanut butter (just peanuts - no sugar or salt), cashews, chicka boom popcorn (the sea salt one and I measure out 2 cups), or if I am short on protein, “protein pudding” - 1 sugar free pudding cup with a scoop of genepro protein powder. I do also throw in sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudgesicles (but those are part of the liquids and I don’t have to wait to drink after those). My goal is minimum 80 grams of protein. I still try to be low carb and low sugar but my net carbs are usually around 50-60. That is now - I was definitely lower early on - but trying not to be carb phobic of the good carbs now. I was extremely carb phobic at first. Have added more veggies and fruits in the last couple of months, but again, my #1 goal is protein. -
What protein powder are you using? I like Genepro but they are late in the shipment and my soy protein isolate tastes really, really, funny. Glad you are doing well!

9 Days post-DS Surgery problems with Protein Shakes
Sunnyway replied to Randall Morgan's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
There are numerous brands and flavors of high protein drinks, both ready-made and powdered. I find the plant-based shakes more palatable than the whey based. Try a variety of products. I never heard of the one you posted. Try Bariatric Advantage, Purely Inspired, Genepro, Orgain, Quest, etc. Walmart usually has a good selection or you can google search for "high protein shakes". ALWAYS read the nutritional data before buying. You want something with at least 20 g protein, and low sugar/carbohydrate. There are even high protein soup powders. I've tried the ones from Proti Diet, and Bariatric Advantage. Stay away from protein bars. They reinforce a snacking-candy bar habit. Unfortunately, they and other snack type food are sold on the bariatric merchant sites, but they are on the slippery slope to returning to old bad habits. -

Try a variety of brands and flavors, both in ready-made shakes and powders. I prefer the plant-based protein shakes to those that are whey-based. Orgain makes a killer Chocolate Salted Caramel, and Purely Inspired is good in Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Bariatric Advantage even has some soup flavors. Isopure is clear fruit-flavored protein powder, which I mix with Crystal Light or other sugar free flavored drink I.e, half a glass of one mixed with half a glass of the other. GenePro makes a flavorless protein powder that can be added to soup, coffee, pudding, etc. There is endless variety! Walmart usually has a fairly decent selection. You can order products online. Do read the Nutrition Data before buying. -

I'm not sure if Genepro will taste good in water, but I think some people add it to skim (fat free) milk. It is supposed to be flavorless, but there is a subtle taste to it. You can add it to sugarfree jello, too. -

I had my surgery a few days before you (currently on full liquid phase), and I agree it is hard to get them both in, especially that first week. I have been getting better at getting them in this second week, so it gets easier (at least until we have to start spacing out the water before and after meals). I try to drink my protein shakes between meals. So the first around 10 am and the second around 3pm or 8 pm. There were a few days were I couldn't stomach them, so on those days when that happened, I used Genepro and added 1/2 a serving to my soups or crystal light. Also sometimes th chocolate shakes can be overwhelming, so I mix 1/2 vanilla & 1/2 chocolate. If I get 2 shakes or 2 servings of Genepro in that is 60 g of protein. I have been also eating Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt (1/2 container w/ 7 g of protein). For me, water has been the bigger challenge every day. Like you said, there aren't enough hours in the day to get it all in! Drinking Crystal Light or other sugar free drinks instead of water for a drink or two a day also helps me. I have a time marked motivation cup filled with water and need to have it near me at all times. I am always behind on where I should be each hour. 🤦♀️Luckily, the 2 shakes take care of 16 oz of water, otherwise I wouldn't have made the 64 oz goal yet. I did set a timer on my phone through baritastic, but it doesn't seem to work on my phone. I think there are water drinking reminder apps, so I will need to try that next week when I start soft foods. I'm sorry you are getting cramping, when I drink too quickly, I feel it sometimes, too, but it has gotten better. Wishing you luck, and looking forward to seeing other tips for the water, too! Keep us posted if you find tips that work for you!😊 -

Recommendations for unflavored protein powder

I like the unflavored from Unjury. Good texture. Actually, the unjury protein powders are my favorite. Love the chocolate and the chicken soup flavors. I have used genepro from gnc. I was very happy w it also
