    Non-Scale Victories!!

That is for sure and as I lose the weight I have to remember that I don't need to buy 10 new outfits in a new size as they likely won't fit soon (I've not yet lost that much to change a whole lot where I'm needing to buy a lot more yet - still at the stage where some of my clothes are too big but others are just fitting better). Fantastic NSV's! I bought tickets to a concert in August and I hope I am down a good chunk of weight by then because I remember the last concert I went to at that venue my ass didn't really fit in the chairs at all (granted I've lost like 40lbs since then anyways... that was like 6 or 7 yrs ago) and I want to be comfortable and have fun! Keep up the awesome job everyone!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I love reading everyone's NSVs....it has changed my intense focus on my weight to everything that is changing for me. Wedding ring is too big and spins around Hair is longer and I am actually fixing it (Before I just put it in a ponytail) Wearing makeup for the first time in............hum.can't remember. Size 24 to size 18, almost 16. Off 8 of my medications including 4 diabetic ones A1c is down from 13.9 (high) to 6.2 (normal) Normal Blood sugar readings for the past 6 weeks FEELING BETTER takes the cake. Having more energy Getting off the couch and outside. There are more and more all the time. Thanks for the re-focusing.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My husband took me to lunch at Ruby Tuesday yesterday and I fit in the booth! I even had room to spare! ha! A while before my surgery we went to the same restaurant and had to ask for a table with chairs instead of the booth because I literally could not comfortably sit in the booth! SO embarassing! This NSV couldn't have come at a better time for me.... it's been a rough week!
  4. Those are some awesome NSVs. I think it's awesome that you're doing a 5K. I see lots of people doing that, and I really want to try the couch to 5k, but I think I better get in a little better shape before I do. And what a great feeling to fit into those jeans! I can't wait to see the before and during photos. Way to go!
  5. (X-posted, sorry for the repetition if anyone read this elsewhere!) Very early in this process for me, there was a thread here as well as another forum asking people what their goals were, what they looked forward to and hoped to achieve with their weight loss. The last few days have been awesome for me! One of my biggest goals initially was to run a 5K by late summer/early fall. I've never been a good runner at all, even in my late teens/early 20s when I was otherwise in the best shape of my life. I've run a mile... one time. Now I'm doing Couch to 5K, and Saturday I ran 25 minutes AND hit two miles. That's twice as long as I've ever run in my entire life, ever. That alone put me on cloud nine, but then we got together with some old high school friends of mine that night and the compliments were wonderful and we had just a fantastic time. Monday I ran 28 minutes, and today made 31 minutes for 2.4 miles. I've jumped the gun a little bit and registered me and my hubby for my first 5K .... a week from Saturday, on the 25th!! And I've had tons of OMG! moments throughout this thing, but today's the first one that made me cry. I have held on to a pair of jeans that I wore before I got pregnant with my son (who's 21 1/2 now), for that many years. They're the smallest ones I ever had as an adult, a size 12 which translates to about a 10 by today's sizing. They're high-waisted, pleated, peg-legged and acid washed, and I knew I'd never wear them in public again, but kept them all these years for that "someday" when I'd be able to put them on again. They've gone from California to Michigan to New York to Michigan to Florida and back to Michigan again with me, always hanging in my closet just waiting for me to get my sh*t together and finally lose the weight (which of course, just kept piling on). The waist looks so tiny, I couldn't even remember being that small. Today I was trying to find a pair of jeans that wasn't too baggy or too tight, and just for the heck of it I pulled out those things to see if I could even get them over my butt yet. Before surgery, I couldn't even get them past mid-thigh. I was in the middle of telling my husband exactly that -- "Before, I couldn't even get...." --and one leg was in. Then the other leg was in and the damn things pulled up all the way... and I burst into tears. They buttoned and zipped (had to lay on the bed to do that LOL!) but they WENT ON! And I just cried, and he almost did too seeing me so happy and proud of myself. It was an amazing moment. The day of the 5K, the 25th, will also be my 8 month surgiversary and I VOW to take pics and put some before-and-durings up. I actually have a before pic of me with those jeans pulled up to mid-thigh, as far as they'd go at the time. Just had to share the most thrilling days of this whole thing for me so far!

    Almost to Onederland

have you been checking your measurements? Sometimes the NSV's help with the slow weight loss. Good luck!

    June Sleevers!

I was sleeved on June 9th. I'm down 17 pounds as of today and am mentally prepared for the soon-to-come stall. I just got the okay to move on to soft foods - chicken, fish, eggs... The only big no-no he gave me was raw vegetables/fruit, bread, and rice. I notice that when I'm hungry, I have to eat NOW. When I'm tired, I have to rest NOW. Other than that, I feel great. ...NSV include no longer snoring. My beloved husband is sleeping much better. AND, being able to push to a stand from my weeding stool when I garden. I pray that I can take full advantage of the honeymoon stage in order to make the major changes in my relationship with food so that I can make this new tool work for me for the rest of my life. P.S. The veg in my garden have never looked better. I will be able to eat it in about six weeks.

    What a waste of money!

Oh yes, it is a total victory! What a great thing to be satisfied on just a little bit of food! Great work! Track this under your NSV list!
  10. My father is also a diabetic (not very compliant, unfortunately, but heck he's 84 now and I figure if he wants some sweets at his age, he should have it!). He also has hypertension, and my mother had breast and lung cancer. I am a train wreck waiting to happen! Or at least I was.....now with my sleeve, I think I have a fighting chance to stave off a lot of these impending health disasters (I hope!). The best NSVs ever, in my books!

    Got called fat...an NSV

Great NSV!!!! Way to so Susan. Don't let the step-bitch-in-law bother you. Your husband loves and cares about you, your kids love and care about you, your friends love and care about you, and most important, you love and care about yourself. All the rest is just bunk.

    Got called fat...an NSV

Those are great NSV's!! But I will say that I hope your hubby says something to his kids if they constantly treat you bad...

    My Very 1st NSV !!!

Wahoo! Good job, Christina! On your weight loss, on your NSV, and on being able to maintain your cover after surgery!! I can't WAIT to find our what happens at the doc tomorrow (monday). How's your hematoma? Still swollen and bruised? I read what your doc said about not cauterizing a blood vessel when he pulled away the facia to place your port. That makes perfect sense to this non-medical person. Still, it's good to know just why. Hope it's feeling better. You sleeping okay? See, I don't always post but I AM keeping up with you!!

    Successful Band Stories here!

We'll see if I'm a long-term success, I'm only 2.5 months out, but I'm down 65 lbs (according to wacky home scale), from 382 to 317. (Ok, editing after I typed all that... this ended up as more of a NSV list, but I intend for it to show my "successes") I've gone from a VERY tight 32/34 in jeans to a comfortable 26. I was to the point that only some of my 30/32 shirts still fit, and when I went shopping last weekend several of the 22/24 shirts fit just fine. When I see myself in the mirror, I no longer think that I have the profile of a rubber duck. My "floatie" back fat roll (nice visual! I call it that because it goes right where a floatation device would go) pre-op would touch in the back... in other words the roll started on the sides and went all the way around and no matter how tall I tried to stand, the sides always came together at the small of my back. Now when I stand, there's a good 7 - 8 inches of just plain old back! Without pushing my shoulders forward I can see/feel my collarbones. Pre-op no matter how far I pushed my shoulders forward I couldn't find the pesky things. I have two pair of 28 pants that I had to retire in Dec. They had gotten so tight that I was afraid sitting in them would rip the seams out, literally, and the last couple of times I squeezed into them I couldn't close the button, and only half the zipper, b/c it was so uncomfortable. I put those same pants on today, fresh out of the dryer (I would normally never dryer my clothes, they might shrink!), hooked the wasitband with my finger, and pulled it out a good 5" before the material started getting taut. If my hips weren't so darned big still, they'd be falling off. I lost a lot of weight on Atkins 2 years ago and bought a TON of new clothes. Of course, most of that weight came back on pre-banding. I'm now wearing most of those clothes again. Some are still snug, but I know that in the next 20 or so lbs they will fit just fine. Because of the point above, I've been able to take on the "turned back time" mentality. When I lost the weight two years ago, I had turned the clock back about 6 years. Then I pushed it forward about 5.5 years, and now I've turned it back another 2.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Awesome Heather! Won't it be fun to have your hubby buying outfits for you more often?! Keep it up girl, that's fantastic No longer being "obese" is a TOTAL HUGE NSV and amazing. Congratulations sweetie, you have worked so hard for it! I can't imagine how fantastic it feels to shop in regular stores (and probably a bit weird too hehe) but fantastic!!!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My NSV are 1) My 2x shirts are too big. 2) My shoe size shrunk 1/2 size. 3) I can actually look at myself in the mirror and not avoid it. I used to think who is that person. 4) I was able to climb the double staircase at work and felt good. In the past, I couldn't catch my breath for at least 5 minutes. Hurrah!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

What creepy SOB. :mad2:I can't wait to hear what his excuse was. Unbelieveable. Glad you at least made a night of it and got that walk in. I had a great NSV tonite. Went shopping and bought 2 more pants in size 20. Thought that maybe the jeans I got two weeks ago were a fluke size 20. Well they weren't these size 20's fit me too. WooHoo!!!:thumbup:

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I first wanted to say congrats to everyone! If it wasn't for everyone on here, I would be lost and am always glad to hear from everyone!!! My NSV is that I went shopping in WalMart the a week and a half ago and bought a skirt off the "normal" sized rack thinking that if it didn't fit yet it would soon. I didn't even try it on. I went home and thought I would get a feel for how long it would be before I could wear it and it zipped right up! Then I went to wear it to church today and it was almost too big!! That amazes me! WOW! A size 18 getting too big. I never thought I would see that day... Keep posting--what great motivation this is!:crying:

I have had my children contact me (23 yrs) since seeing them since my divorce...I just hope that this year of change for me just keeps getting better....Not just for me but for all of us! Have a great one...

    Non-Scale Victories!!

I should be ashamed of this NSV but I am going to put it out there anyway :0) Please try not to be to shocked. It is time to renew my license and I go next week. I was looking at it and saw that my weight on the license was 180. Well I am sure I was well over 200 when I got the license, so obviously I was not truthful when I got it the last time (probably could just not bear giving some bored, middle aged women peering at me over her glasses something I was ashamed to even admit to myself). NSV - I weigh less in reality than the original fictional number on the license :0). What a hoot!!! So now that I have to do this again next week and I am losing so well, how much should I say . . . ? What an interesting dilemma. I just wonder how many of us who are overweight give the true number on our licenses. It is hard to do because you have to show it all over the place and it stays the same for years . . . .

    Non-Scale Victories!!

Even though I was only banded 8 days ago, I have had a few NSV's. 1. All the swelling in my legs & feet is GONE! All my sandals are loose now. 2. Most of my clothes are already feeling looser and/or fitting better. 3. My wedding rings are getting loose as well!
