I know this has been done before but...attention

I work and take classes at a university and many people either know me or have seen me. I was getting some yogurt because I forgot to eat before class and one of the guys who work in the cafeteria just stared at me and was like "wow wow wow, I'm single!" Haha and when he rang me up he said "I'm going to make this last as long as I can, I'm speechless" and he gave me my bills one at a time all the people who worked in the cafeteria were telling me how fabulous I looked Then I was in the elevator going back up to the classroom and one of the guys who works here ran to the elevator because the doors were still open and he just kinda kept looking at me and he said "are you the same girl that used to work over at the information center?" And I was like yeah and he was like "you've slimmed down, you look great! Doing an amazing job!" He even got out of the elevator even though he was going to a different floor to watch me walk away Hahahaha I've never even met him before This has really been made me feel so good and is such a confidence booster! I haven't had guys flirt with me in a very very long time haha and I'm 29 (30 on Saturday!!) and am very single haha it feels really nice It made my day! So I work and take classes at a university and many people have seen me around. Today I was getting some yogurt because I forgot to eat before class and one of the guys who work in the cafeteria just stared at me and was like "wow wow wow, I'm single!" Haha and when he rang me up he said "I'm going to make this last as long as I can, I'm speechless" and he gave me my bills one at a time all the people who worked in the cafeteria were telling me how fabulous I looked Then I was in the elevator going back up to the classroom and one of the guys who works here ran to the elevator because the doors were still open and he just kinda kept looking at me and he said "are you the same girl that used to work over at the information center?" And I was like yeah and he was like "you've slimmed down, you look great! Doing an amazing job!" He even got off the elevator and Ben though he was going up another floor to watch me walk away Hahahaha I've never even met him before It is really a confidence booster! This is the first time in a really really long time that guys have kinda flirted with me and it feels amazing because I'm 29 (30 on Saturday!!) and very single haha This made my day Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thank you so much for telling me about Upcal D, just ordered some. I found the paks and each one could be split into two servings (2500 mg calcium citrate- the rest would come from my multi). I like that there is no soy in it like so many other products. I did buy a bottle of cc but for later use, I want to prepared for right after surgery. I too will add to yogurt and cottage cheese. Thank you! the calcium number that's important is the *elemental* calcium - not total calcium - as elemental is the amount you actually absorb. Upcal D has 500 mg of elemental calcium per packet. Although that's OK, because your body can't absorb more than 500-600 mg of elemental calcium at a time - so you're supposed to spread out your calcium dosages over the day (so you take calcium 2 or 3 times a day - depending on your surgeon's instructions) (this is true of any calcium supplement - not just Upcal D) you can supposedly mix Upcal D with any food or beverage, but just so you know, it suspends in liquid rather than dissolves, so if you put it in a beverage, you have to give it a good shake before taking a sip. Although if it's a really thick beverage, you may not have to do that. I mix mine in with my morning yogurt. It's slightly sweet, so it works better in sweet things than savory things. I can't tell it's in my yogurt at all. Thanks, I will add to yogurt. I make yogurt, so not a problem with adding it to that. I am glad you posted about it. I know that I want good absorption, which is why I have looked into liquid vitamins. Currently using Mary Ruth's organic, but some things are low for bariatric (albeit, good quality and liquid which is better absorbed than pills). If you have other recommendations of products, please feel free to tell me about.

It took 5 days for me to go and it was the same. Only I took miralax 2x. As soon as I ate yogurt and pudding it was solid. Are you eating anything but liquids yet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My restriction has lessened. A string cheese used to fill me up, now it takes 3. A five ounce yogurt used to push my limits. Now I eat a full cup plus an added 1/2 cup of fruit mixed in. 2 ounces of chicken and a 1/2 cup of veggies has increased to 3 ounces of chicken and 3/4 cup veggies. I also get hungrier faster. I eat six times a day and I'm always between 1,000-1,200 calories. I'm going to cut it down for now. Focus on Protein. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

TheRev replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and skyr. Skyr is Icelandic yogurt and it's amazing. Tangier than Greek and so so rich. I freaking love the stuff! -
Ooh that cookbook looks good never thought to look for cookbooks but will get on eBay lol. I've tried omelette with spinach and mushrooms, Beef stew, chicken casserole both packed with veg, Chinese stir fry, jacket potatoes, Soup, and I'm goin to try tandori chickenmade fromfat free yogurt in a wholemeal pitta with some salad. Do these sound ok I do make sure I stick to low fat stuff and plenty of veg but what does everyone do about carbs I'm goin to measure everything aswell like we had to for the pre op diet I find it helps stay on track of calories aswell I think this is were the really hard work begins x Sent from my SM-G920F using the BariatricPal App

Wondering what your restriction is like now? I'm 7.5 months out and and am still restricted at 1/2 -MAYBE 2/3 a cup of food. I definitely can only tolerate 1/2 c if it is dense Protein but can finish an entire 5 oz of Greek yogurt if I wanted to. I try to stop before I finish it to keep at the 4 oz. I'm still around 800 cal a day. My exercise is a bit less these last couple weeks after running a 15k and then spraining my ankle. ( Chipped a little bone in my foot too but oddly that hasn't bothered me much.) Following this for future reference. I'm 12 ish pounds from goal and yup. It's slowed but I'm not concerned. Knew it would happen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

The recovery from the swelling varies from person to person. My surgery was 10/25 and I am mostly on puree but can do mushy if I chew it to puree. I am full on 3 oz.And I am still getting 3/4 of my Protein from protein powder. I like the unjury unflavored mostly I just blend it 1% milk but I also blend it into cottage cheese, you're and no added sugar pudding. I have a hard time with smells and the powder really grossed me out for a while so I mixed the powder right into the yogurt and cottage cheese so it's ready to eat when I want it. I add 2 scoops (42gr) per large tub. The smell doesn't bother me now, now it's just bacon, car exhaust, wet dogs, teen bys laundry...

What do you eat on the 3rd week after surgery ?
TiredOfMyself replied to amber.bgoya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still on full liquids. Cottage cheese, cream soups, applesauce, I am so tired of it all. I hate yogurt and Protein shakes so I don't do them. -

I can't say that I like this and that is fine but I eat Greek yogurt now. Cottage cheese and a tbsp of sugar free apricot jam is pretty darn good. -

Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused
ShelterDog64 replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@@trekker954 A few thoughts: Dairy Protein is easier for me than animal protein. I know you said you don't care for it, but I can't imagine doing this without using greek yogurt. Have you tried several brands and flavors? I'm not a big cottage cheese fan but you can't beat it for protein, so I eat it. I also use GENEPRO in my morning coffee, plus if I have Soup or refried Beans, I add a scoop to that. If I have a cup of tea later in the day, I add a scoop. There's no way you should push beyond your restriction to get protein in. That would be antithetical to the surgery we all just had. Your nutritionist must have some rationale for requiring 3 meals a day, I'd ask for the reason for it. If you've never been a snacker/grazer, maybe she'd feel comfortable supporting a 4th or 5th meal a day, or maybe like @@Bufflehead's NUT, you could add Protein shakes without them counting as a 'meal'. That wouldn't be the case with my program, if you eat it you count it, but clearly there are variations and semantics to deal with in comparing us all. -
So today was my first day back to work (I am a server/bartender) and about three hours into my shift I felt horrendous... Had my sleeve done 10/28 My diet consists of 2 Protein shakes and a Greek yogurt and sometimes a sugar free snack at night. Today I brought my yogurt to work with me. In the past, I'd keep myself running by taking sips of soda here and there and now that I'm doing only Water I feel like I just worked out to the point I'm going to throw up! I feel dizzy and light headed. Anybody experience this? Anybody have some advice? Thanks! -Chris

Soup/liquids question
laceemouse replied to tapgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@tapgirl I am about the same as you and I am having the same experience. It takes me like hours in the morning to get a Protein shake down, and hours to do a second one in the evening. My doctor wants me getting 60-70 grams of protein and I am hitting that. I am also hitting my Water goals. I enjoy a little Jello (I can do about 2 oz), some soup, or some yogurt each day as well. All go down easily. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as we are not eating too fast or feeling discomfort. As others have said all of this stuff is basically liquid. I have a feeling when we start on real solid food it won't take as much to fill us up. -
Had gastric bypass Nov 7th 2016
daya replied to Mommyof4boys's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I just took some pain medicine after over doing my walk. But I was pretty much off for about 2 days, I haven't eat eggs yet. Only Greek yogurt, cream of chicken and of course liquids but let me tell you those pizzas comercial are not good for my cravings, I past a lot of my time looking at food my husband said I am torturing myself Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Congrats on the loss! Unflavored protein can be added to yogurt, pudding, refried beans, soup, coffee, tea, sugar free drinks, and pretty much anything you can mix it into. Be careful on the temps so it doesn't clump.

What are the weird and new foods you like post op?
_Kate_ replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plain greek yogurt.... Hated it before and now love it and have it at least once a day. I used to love tea... I drank buckets of it daily and hated it afterwards. Even the smell turned my stomach. I have had a couple of cups recently but its not the same. Now that IS weird seeing as I am Enlish and we are born with a cup of tea in hand lol -
Hi I'm 6 weeks post op from a gastric bypass and have started solids taking it slow but I feel like i can eat anything now which I feel has happened quite quick I thought it would take a lot longer so I'm scared that I'm not goin to lose any weight, im not eating loads on 3 meals per day with no snack maybe a fat free yogurt and I've started to exercise aswell. I've started to track my calorie intake and wondering what everyone eats I need healthy meal ideas and would like to know how many calories people are sticking to I'm thinkin maybe 800 or below is this ok xx Sent from my SM-G920F using the BariatricPal App

8 months post-op and 12lbs to goal!
cdeisroth replied to cdeisroth's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
At 8 months i feel like im in a very "normal" place. Meaning my food choices dont look too different from average folks, its just that my portions are smaller. I know that is a concern for a lot of new folks , that you will always look different or stand out when it comes to food. At first your choices are so limited and your portions are so small that that people may notice. At this point however people don't even realize that you're not eating bread are sugar free drinks. When I go out I order off the regular menu and the portions are so huge that other people don't really track how much you're eating. I still have trouble getting in all of my protein, not because I can't, but because I get sick of protein foods in general. I do still use shakes a few times per week. My food tolerance is pretty strong, meaning not much bothers me, except sugar. I do dump if I eat too much. Yesterday I ate honey nut cheerios dry (not a wise choice I admit) which ended up making me feel like I was going to die! I have learned to stop before getting too full, that was hard at first but now I know when I'm satisfied. When I go out to eat, most people don't even realize I'm eating less. A normal day looks like this: Breakfast-greek yogurt or Protein shake and coffee Lunch- homemade chicken Soup or salad with chicken Snack- whole piece of fruit Dinner- 1.5 meatballs, 2 tbsp Pasta, 1/4 cup green Beans Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App -

At the beginning, you can't. But you try. Over time, it gets easier. If you can't eat your protein, then you should drink your protein--protein shakes, Isopure, Syntrax Nectar, those types of things that also count as your fluid intake. But also start to note what types of protein you are able to eat. Can you tolerate yogurt? Cottage cheese? Have you tried that Ricotta Bake?
