    Nsv

Congratulations! That's a great NSV, I can't wait to be a size 14, that's the size I always think about. My surgery date is December 14th I'm counting down the days

    Nsv

I do all my shopping online, but a friend asked me to go shopping at midnight. I went and while she was shopping, I said well I will get me a pair of jeans beings I have only one pair that will fit. I go and try the 16 on...too big. I needed a 14. I was super happy because the ones I wore on Thanksgiving (yes they were a little baggy) were a size 20!!! I have not even put the jeans in the laundry basket because I keep looking at the size!!
  5. It sounds like you're right on track, then. I know it's tough to be patient when you see others have dramatic drops very quickly, but we all lose at different rates. One thing I've found really helpful for the patience part is to be actively looking for the non-scale victories (NSV) that happen. There's a few NSV threads in the VSG Success Stories area and I hit those whenever i start feeling frustrated. It really helps me to recognize things other than just drops on the scale.
  6. @longer-life, you can hijack anytime! I just love getting all this info and different perspectives. I'm mostly looking forward to the day that I can give this kind of experienced reassurance to someone just starting their sleeve journey. On the low calories, I'm not happy about that because I don't want to get sick. But considering what everyone had to say I'm going to give it a serious effort to try and relax and just step away from the scale. @lissa, I will look for those NSVs! I will add you to MFP too - you're the first one I've tried to add. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
  7. Thanksgiving was such a wonderful time with loved ones! NSV today. On my way home from my VSG surgery last year I stopped in a shopping area. I deliberately bought a dress, purple, super cute in size Medium. At the time it seemed like a pipe dream to even think I could fit into it. It was so tiny to me then!! Well I wore it today. I should've worn it a long time ago because it was big on me. ;o)

  8. Michell, Everyone here is right. That three week stall is a bugger!! Just keep doing what you know you have to do: work on getting in your Protein and your Water, walk as much as you can, do a little light weigts for your arms (to avoid the jiggle arms) and don't worry about it. I'm a classic control freak, but I've found that I have to let go of what I can't control here and let my sleeve do it's job. I'm on MFP as well (Lissa912 if you want to friend me) and, at two months and three weeks out, I've lost nearly 60 pounds. I've been floating between 295 and 299 for over a week, but I didn't let it frustrate me because my clothes were getting bigger and bigger. Have you read about NSV's yet? Those are Non scale Victories. Check out that thread in success stories and definitely keep your eyes open for them. It makes letting go of the scale obsession so much easier when you start seeing all the other positive things that happen besides dropping pounds! Good luck on your journey!!
  9. First, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Second, I weighed myself this morning & I hit 199.8!!!! WooooooHooooooo! I was sleeved on the 14th & lost 6 lbs on the pre-op diet and am down 19lbs in like 3 weeks!! And if that weren't enough I am down a full pants size & am wearing jeans I have never worn before cuz they were too small!! This is the best Thanksgiving ever!!! G

    NSV shout outs

My most recent NSV is losing 9" from my body - 4" from my waist! This was the first time we measured since the night before surgery so it shocked me. Another is that I have to get rid of some of my shoes that I love :nonod: because they are too big for me. One pair is over 10 years old so I know I will not be able to find them again. However, I will be able to find better ones now since I no longer wear a WIDE :purplebananna:

    New Nsv

Somebody told me I looked Stylish today! WHAT!!!! YAY!!!! The weight I have lost gave me the confidence today to wear my jeans inside my new tall boots. And the compliments have been rolling in. This is huge for me. I am 100% a jeans and t-shirt girl, which is allowed at work. But I knew for sure, one day soon that Stacy and Clinton from "What Not To Wear" would be banging down my door! Stylish....who knew! Thank you lapband

    So Many Nsv's....

    Great NSVS!
  14. This past week has been filled with so many NSV's that I have to share... 1) my 16 year old outgrew a pair of his 30X34 jeans- they fit me!!!!! 2) I recently started a new job & still haven't got acquainted with everyone- I overheard someone describe me as "the tall SKINNY girl with blondish hair"!!!! 3) I went to North Face & bought size 8 khakis!! (I thought size 8 jeans I have were a fluke!!) 4) I ran into someone who hasn't seen me in a few months & she didn't recognize me!!!! 5) I never ever saw a resemblence between my children & me until reently- I found that we have the same facial features/bone structure, mine was just hiding!!! 6) Oh yeah- I've caught men lookin'!!!! 7) My shoes are too big!! 8) I made an appointment with plastics, for a few minor enhancements!!! 9) I walked by a mirror the other day & thought "she's got on the same shirt as me", only to realize "IT IS ME"!!!! 10) I posted all of my old clothes for sale on a classified site, I'll NEVER need them again!!!!!! Hope all of my fellow-sleevers enjoy the little NSVs as much as I do!!!!!
  15. Such kind comments. It was fun to sit down yesterday morning and think about how my life has changed. Thanks so much for celebrating my 3 mo. surgiversary and NSV's with me!

    NSV shout outs

Couple of NSVs today. I went to my PCP, who I haven't seen since April of this year, so before surgery. His nurses actually both commented on how much better I look now, but the nurse who took me into the exam room actually asked for my ID before she would believe it was me. She said my size has changed so much, but my demeanor (happy and smiling) was not what she remembered. The last time I was there, I was so sick I could barely walk or talk. Second NSV, my best friends daughter came into town for a few days. I met them for dinner tonight and the daughter jumped up as I came walking to the table and told me that I look FANTASTIC! She couldn't stop telling me how great I look for quite a while!!! I just enjoyed and basked in the glory. If that's not motivation to keep working my sleeve, NOTHING will be!
  17. Ha, enjoy that NSV. Hey, eat what you like - take care of your nutritional requirements and then have a good time with it. This surgery is forever, it's not a diet you can just jump off of and regain 100 pounds with, so do your best to eat well without depriving yourself. We don't want to get small just to live miserably - the idea is to get small and enjoy everything we either couldn't or wouldn't enjoy before! Great work! ~Cheri

The Ease Of Shoes And Pantyhose

Lol, pantyhose and tights are still the bane of my existence, but each day is getting better. Great NSV!

    I just noticed . . .

Lol, same thing happened to Jonah Hill. Great NSV!
  20. Lol, that is awesome!! Congrats! I can't wait for a NSV like that.
  21. Wow, this is a great post. The NSVs are sometimes what really make things worth while! You look awesome!
  22. That is an awesome list! I am only a month out and cannot wait to experience some of those NSV's for myself. Congrats on your success so far. You look great by the way! Shae
  23. Today is my 3 month surgiversary and with Thanksgiving in two days I thought I'd post all the NSV's I'm thankful for at this point. I lost 30 lbs. last year before deciding to have VSG so I'm actually down a total of 74 pounds since this last Thanksgiving. I have been too embarrassed to post pics but in honor of my surgiversary, I've decided to finally post a "before" pic at my highest weight and also an "in progress" pic of me (10 lbs ago). Sorry, I don't have a more current one. I'm 3 mo. post op and I know I'll be to goal before another 3 mo. has passed I KNOW I'll lose the weight AND keep it off, instead of just hoping I will When I said goodbye to the 200's, 190's, 180's, 170's, and now 160's - I knew I was never going see those numbers again I'm wearing a size 8/10 pants, and medium tops I enjoy clothes shopping again I get to donate all my big clothes that I hid behind I buy things that are form fitting now sleep apnea is much better My knees/ankles/feet don't hurt at night My BP is great I'm not constantly out of breath it's easier to roll over in bed I can cross my legs and keep them crossed easily sex isn't filled with my wondering if he's noticing my fat rolls I no longer am resolved to the idea that I'll live a short life - I can imagine I'll grow old some day When I look in the mirror I no longer hear negative self talk, I like what I see, I feel pretty My fiance is always checking me out I'm not terrified that the holidays are coming and someone will post a pic of me on FB - posting my own pics now all the time when I meet someone I don't wonder if they are thinking about how fat I am I don't hide in my home anymore, I attend social functions or outings and enjoy myself I'm no longer embarrassed all the time, or feel like the fattest person in a room, or worry that I'll run into someone I know Eating is getting easier - haven't thrown up in several weeks (this was an issue the first 10 weeks) food doesn't have the power it used to I'm rarely hungry a restaurant meal can last me two/three days I look forward to getting on the scale I'm no longer invisible, I'm treated differently People are nicer to me I'm sure I could list another dozen if I thought about it some more. This really is a life changing experience. I knew it would be because I've lost all the weight three times before in my life but it's always come back on, plus more. The best NSV is just knowing that this is it. I never have to go through being obese again! Thank you for the wonderful support I have received along the way. This is truly and warm, caring, educational group of people and I'm so thankful for this forum because you've answered questions, lifted me up, and shared unselfishly your own journeys in order to help others.
  24. I had 2 lovely nsv today!!! First it was 1/2 price day on clothing at value village ( in canada) and I spent $100 on just me!!!! I didn't buy anything for the kids of hubby. Just me. Boy did that feel weird. I got pretty much a new wardrobe because lots of my clothing doesnt fit again ; ) While at value village, I had to try on clothing. I hit my alltime goal of fitting into size 9 pants!!! I even fit 2 size 8!!!! Holy crappola was I excited!! I laughed out load in the changeroom and scared the little old lady in the next stall ; ) lol Now if only my size would suck back in...... Lol
  25. I recently went on vacation, and a few women in the group went shopping together. There was a T-shirt that I liked and I was trying to decide what size to purchase. I held a Large against me and one of the women said, "Oh, you are so small I think the Medium would be better." Me---small!!! But when I looked at the other women, although none were obese I was the thinnest. (We were all about fifty-ish.) Meals were included and were served buffet-style. I was never a big Breakfast eater even before surgery but I love my coffee, so most mornings I would have a couple of cups. Then I might have a spoon of scrambled egg and a slice of bacon and I would be done. I ate similarly at lunch and dinner--protein first and maybe a bite or two of vegetables. I noticed that other people had loaded plates and I only had a dab or two of something but no one said anything until the last night. For dessert, there was flan (I love flan) and I got a slice about as big as my thumb. It was the first dessert I had on the trip as none of the others had appealed to me before. One of the women looked at it on my plate and screeched, "We wondered what you ate and now I see that you eat JUNK!" I just smiled at her and enjoyed my flan because I am SMALL now.
