  1. Just... in the exact same position I was when I left off here years ago. I am STILL around 320 pounds... and i am STILL TIGHT and have restriciton problems constantly. But instead of trying to fix it with prednisone, I just deal with it. I choke every day. On food or water. I think.. ill just start off with a food journal. I just gave up cookies yesterdaty or so I tell myself, we shall see. I gave up candy 10 months ago, and have had NO candy since. Which is mindboggling. I have not done a food journal for months. I got to see where I can make changes. See if what I THINK, is really the Truth. Tuesday April 12th 11am. - 2 pills and one gulp of 100% Grape Juice. 12:45pm- 4 tortilla chips 2:30 - One inch section of granola bar ariel handed me and I took. 3:30 -Now.. and Im hungry. but... ya. I can still feel that granola bite, in my throat. 5:00 = 3/4 cup mashed potatoes with gravy (from this dinner thing, i fed the meat to the dogs) 20 ounces 1% milk, with nesquick 7:40 - eating Rye chips right now. hey. I should go to fit day.
  2. I finally got a Surgery Date for my Gastric bypass I am getting my Gastric bypass on Tuesday July 24, 2012. I start on a Full liquid Diet on July 10, 2012 where I have whey Protein drinks at Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can have some Soups like tomato , Cream of mushroom Soup and I can have some pudding and if I want something soldi I can have Carrots, tomatoes and Celery. I have my Pre-Op appointment on June 25, 2012. I would like prayers and I would like to have a Diet Buddy and I will want to know what to do 1. What Should I do If I am having Vomiting that lasts for several hours 2. What Should I Do If I am having Diarrhea for several hours I know that you can experience these things after having Gastric Bypass. I have some more questions: 1. If you have vomiting that lasts for several hours do you have to get to the hospital even if it means calling 911? 2. If you have diarrhea for several hours do you have to get to the hospital even if it means calling 911? Right now I Vomit with my Heartburn or GERD. Has anyone ever had Heartburn or GERD where they Vomited with their Heartburn or GERD? Did you do things like Belch with your Heartburn or GERD? I am looking for email pen pals that have gone through Gastric Bypass that can be my diet buddy that I can share my weight with. I am wanting to try to lose some weight on my own before the pre0op. I like pen pals that can answer short letters with questions like: 1. Do you have any pets? 2. Do you like music? 3. What type of music do you like? I would appreciate it if my questions about What to do about Vomiting and Diarrhea that lasts for several hours after Gastric Bypass is answered and my questions about Heartburn or GERD and pen pals is answered. If you know the answers to my questions please let me know I would appreciate it. Channing

    Help!

I brought some soup. My doctor does not want me to have yogurt until days 10-14. I'm currently drinking crystal light trying to keep my mind off the food.

    Help me

I really can't say how to lose 10lbs in one week.. but you can do meal replacements. Switch meals with protein shake for a week, and probably hit the gym 4 times. (You'll drop both water and a tiny bit of fat). It may mot be 10 lbs, but you'll definitely drop something..
  5. I think it would be good if we did one with a limited number of people on there- maybe 10-12? I'm afraid if we got too many it would just be chaos.
  6. I was banded on March 18, 2013 - over a year ago. I remember when I was thinking about having the surgery, I was obsessed with the speed... I had upcoming events (weddings, vacations, etc.) and I continued imagining what I would look like in 3 months, 6 months, etc. I was so frustrated and disappointed as I read on this site about everyone just dropping weight left and right. I lost about 20 pounds pre op (and so my real starting weight was about 240) and then another 10 or so in the first 6 months. I had fill after fill after fill... I took small bites and ate high Protein, but I was still pretty hungry and could eat 1.5 cup portions without a problem. So, I read - these pages and posts and guess what? My story was a dime a dozen, so I just didn't post or complain, because what everyone says - and what I needed to hear, was that THIS IS MY JOURNEY. It might not be the same as everyone else's. Not everyone starts losing immediately... I needed 7 fills before I reached the green zone and I really didn't start losing until 8 months after my surgery. BUT, I learned a ton about patience and I believe I needed those months to adjust to my lifestyle and to learn to love myself a little more. So, today I'm just under 180 and I feel great. My goal is to be 150 - 160, but I'm happy at the pace I'm losing (about a pound a week). Slow losers, don't get discouraged. Stay in contact with your doctor and just keep going For those of you that do post often, thank you - although I wasn't posting, I was certainly reading and feeling supported. Peace, Rina

I have finally found the answer...

I'm happy for you that you feel you found the answer..my personal experience with antidepressants was the opposite..I too lost a child and my mother within 10 days of eachother and had another child diagnosed with cancer at the same time I was put on an anti depressant. I have always been overweight my whole life but the anti depressant was my demise..I gained over 65 lbs in 1.5 yrs with the Paxil... I 'm sorry to hear about your daughter..I know first hand how difficult the loss of a child can be..I wish you the best..and wish you continued success

Does anyone know where i can find something like this?

I'm about 10 or 15 pounds lighter now compared to the last picture. ~Mandy
  9. 60 pounds in 6 weeks? that's 10 pounds in a week! Honestly, if I were you, I would just keep doing what you are doing, and if your weight loss slows down, then figure out what changes you need to make.
  10. about 6 weeks post op. down almost 60lbs. got sleeved on 01-29-13. i do great all day. drink Water and my Protein shake, have my yogurt and soft cheeses, sometimes tuna. but when it comes to dinner time and the night time i always seem to struggle especially when i'm home. i def graze when i am home. and i hate it. a little Peanut Butter, a little more cheese, S.F. pops etc. sometimes if i eat chicken and f.f. gravy ill eat till im full and then go back later. it's so hard to learn this new way of life but i know i have to. i scraped the cheese of the pizza i made from scratch for my family the other night. is this normal ?? should i feel hungry and still crave food? i know my brain can play tricks on me but when will it stop. i don't want to want pizza or chinese or fast food bc i know it's poison. it's what go me here in the first place. i think i should eat and once im full just leave and walk away or go work out. do you still want food this far out ???

    Question for Mexican bandsters???

I'm not really good at exercise, but I try to ride my bike 10 miles a day. I usually have 1/4 c. (dry measure) oatmeal for Breakfast or a Fiber One bar, then Soup or chili or a lean cuisine for lunch, then meat and vegetable for dinner. Portions are small--a couple of oz of meat and maybe a half cup of vegies. I sometimes have a 100 cal. bag of popcorn for an evening snack, a sugar free pudding, or even a spoonful of Peanut Butter. I try to keep under 1000 calories a day. I don't get hungry except for once in a while before I get up in the morning, which I credit to little in the way of carbs in my diet. I take a couple of fiber pills in the morning with my coffee (two cups a day, with creamer and sweetener) and my doctor's nutritionist suggested a couple of chromium picolinate tablets. My band is pretty tight for me, although I only have 1.9 cc in it. If I eat too fast or don't chew enough, I pb fairly easily, so I don't know as what I am doing is the healthiest way to go about it. I have my treats--an occasional gelato or cookie, but don't bring home much junk. There's no sugar, potatoes, rice, flour, chips, Pasta, or anything like that in the house. I've learned if it's here, I'll eat it, so I don't buy it. If I start overdoing it on the peanut butter, I have been known to toss a nearly full jar in the trash. There's no doubt I am still a compulsive eater at heart. I think we each have to try to learn about ourselves, our weaknesses, and our strengths to figure out how to make this tool work for us. Good luck on your journey! it definitely can work for us.

I was always hourglass shaped. Still am but the difference between my breast, waist & hip measurement is much smaller. Have a friend who is an inverted triangle. Was size 18 top size 10/12 bottom. She had a breast reduction but was still a size 16 top - can’t change your skeleton. My ass slowly disappeared too but I compared it to Hank Hill. 😁 I’ve noticed there is a little fullness again in the butt region so I do think your remaining fat does redistribute a bit after a while. Still get terrible bony butt pain though. Had to stand at my hairdresser the other day cause the pain was so bad.
  17. @@livvsmum thanks for replying... that is actually one of my biggest fears (especially because I'm not sure I could afford it, financially or mentally, a second time). It looks like you've had your surgery already and hit your goal weight (congrats!).... having said that - do you think it would be possible to lose the weight after kids? my concern with waiting is that I wont spend the money on myself then (plus it would be another 2+ years of waiting and being miserable in my own body b/c of pregnancy plus breastfeeding). I know I definitely couldnt wait until we've had all the kids we want bc that would be 10 years away! appreciate the different perspective though

    Insurance Covering My Tummy Tuck!!!

Fortunately, I can't do it until after December 19th and according to my friends and family, I should only aim to lose another 10-15lbs. I would also like to address my arms at the same time, so I need time to save for that. I'm giving myself a goal of 12-18 months from now.

    3 Years

Hello all, Been a long time since I was here. Lots going on. on 20 Oct 2019 it will be 3 years since my RNY surgery. I have a checkup with my bariatric surgeon today. It is supposed to be every year, but since the emergency surgery last year it has been every six months. I have stopped going to support group (I think it is great but I am not getting anything out of it). I am still about 155 lbs and am pretty happy. Still have sugar issues, but everything else is ok (per blood tests). I get to go next month for the MRCP on my pancreas (I am hoping the IPMN hasn't grown). I flew from Detroit to Pharr, TX a couple of weeks ago to pick up a Mazda MX5 (my dad gave it to me, he can't drive it anymore), and drove it 1700 miles back to Detroit. Then a little over a week later my wife's brother was killed in an automobile accident. I drove about 500 miles (from Detroit to Carthage, NY) last Thursday (so I could be at his service) and got up the next morning and drove about 500 miles back to Detroit. Not really feeling it anymore, this is probably going to be my last time seeing my surgeon. I don't need to pay him $40 to have him tell me I am doing fine. I know how I am doing. I hope everyone is doing well.

    The day is slowly arriving

Hey, girl, Welcome aboard!! I'm a newbie, too and my sch'd date is 10-13-11, so we are in the same place. I have been hanging around this site alot lately, and I have been learning so much! It is alot of really encouraging and knowlegable folks who like to help others. Pretty cool, huh? Where are you having your procedure? I live in New Hampshire, about an hour north of Boston. There is a group of Oct 2011 sleevers coming together- it will be fun to take the journey together.

    Pre-operation questions

I started Low Carbing it the second I got of the scales at the doctor office during my 1st consultation. I figured, the more I lose before surgery, the less I'll have to lose after surgery.(I've already lost 19 lbs since 11/22) My doctor wants me to follow a Low carb diet 3 weeks before suregery, then total liquids 48 hours before surgery. My surgery will not be until 1/18. Every doc is different, but you should follow YOUR docs advice. Just remember that this is for the surgery and it is only a short time. Next year you won't even be thinking about the liquid phase, you'll be thinking, "Wow, look how good I look":wow2:
  23. Good morning everyone, I just got sleeved on October 12. I have no pain at all but I'm struggling to get in all of my Protein and 64oz of h2o. I get full so quick and all Protein shakes taste funny to me. I purchased an unflavored Protein powder that I found at Walmart but it makes everything I put it in like a milky color and has a funny after taste.... any advice on how I can get in my protein and fluids. Also did anyone else experience coughing up phlegm and a little blood?? Mines finally stopped but just wondering if anyone else experienced the same. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using the BariatricPal App

Quest Bars are not what they say they are

I think the quest bars are great for a 10 mile hike, or to stash in your car or desk in case you get caught too long without any real food. Where they become a problem IMO is when people eat them at home as a daily meal or snack. You're right, at home there are always better choices. Agreed. I haven't had a lot of luck keeping "a few ounces of sliced chicken pieces with red pepper or apple slices with almond butter" in my cubicle drawer for an extended period of time. Fiddle is right about the mystery ingredients tho - I made the mistake of staring too long at the insides of a Quest Bar. I won't be doing that again!
