I had my band removed and revised to RNY last July 29th - I am down 90 lbs and am working on the last 30. While there are some new challenges the positive benefits WAY out weigh the negative . This is a lifestyle that I can and will live with ! I do not miss sugar or caffeine. This was the best decision I could ever make !

I just had my band removed and revision to bypass on 2/13/17. I've been doing really good. I've lost just over 40 lbs, including my 2 week pre-op. I had so many issues with my band the last several years so it's been great to be able to eat and drink. I know everyone's experience can be different but I'm glad I did it!

Anyone revised from sleeve to bypass
krisk12786 replied to CurvyCakes's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am getting revised from the sleeve 4/20. Severe gerd and esophageal dismotility. I have been wondering the same thing. Did your doctor give you any idea on weight loss? I know it will be slower, I kinda just want to loose the bit I have put on because of the limitation on what I can eat. -
I don't like the way I feel
CurvyCakes replied to elbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had severe nausea with my initial WLS and I'm praying with my revision it's much better. Hoping during my anesthesia pre op they come up with a plan to combat the nausea for me too. That was hell!! There is power in the struggle. Nothing worth having has ever come easy. Embrace the journey!! -
I'm having a revision from sleeve to RNY April 11th. Congrats to everyone and wishing you much success on your upcoming surgical journey.

Revision denial by Anthem BCBS
CurvyCakes replied to dazedinks's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Jen I suggest having your surgeon do a peer to peer review with your insurance company. Many that were denied were able to get approved after the peer to peer. Sometimes coding is an issue too. Although bypass is a weight loss surgery revision most times isn't for weight loss but more so to fix a complication of surgery itself. Best of luck to you. Severe GERD is no joke!! I'm being revised from sleeve to RNY due to GERD. I have BCBS as well. -
Hi there! Scheduled for revision from sleeve to RNY due to severe GERD. I've been vegan since October 16. I absolutely love plant based diet. Currently using Raw Fit Protein which is a vegan protein powder. It has 28 grams of protein and taste great. Looking to connect with a mentor or mentors that follow a plant based diet. Totally fine connecting with those that aren't as well.

Hello I'm scheduled to be revised from sleeve to RNY 4/11. I completely understand feeling happy and scared at the same time.

Sleeved 4/14/14 did well with my sleeve. Severe GERD meds not providing relief. Scheduled to be revised to RNY 4/11. Just looking to hear from others that's had a revision. Very worried about extreme pain after surgery and how different will life be with the bypass in comparison to my sleeve.

One Week Ago Today & So far So Good

60 Sandy: i have had gerd or years. At my first consult the doc told me with the sleeve gerd can get really bad 4 to 5 years out. Then after an EGD at my last consult, he saw the hernia I had on the pic of the EGD and seemed to think for me I would be fine with the sleeve. I do not have heartburn that much anymore and have about 75 lbs to loose. So im praying he is correct. Im 58 and do not want to have any revision down the line. -
Same here. MGB works so much better than the band for me (though in 2001 nobody even talked about MGB here in Germany). I wish I hadn't postponed revision for so long. Seems like I'm not the only one though.

Hi there, glad to hear you're doing well and congrats on all those steps!! I converted from band to bypass on oct 3, 2016. My band slipped and cause almost daily vomiting, eventually the only thing I could eat were sliders. I lived like that for two years. Gain all the weight back slowly. My revision surgery was the best thing I ever did. Almost all the regained weight is off in just 6 months. And of course no vomiting and stick foods. Personally I think bypass is a better tool then the band even when my band was working - just my opinion. Happy belated St. Pat's to you!

Band to bypass surgery date!
thisisthenewme replied to lf1227's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So happy for you!! I suffered a long time with my band too. Initially did well, but then it slipped and I had to live throwing up all the time for two years (while pregnant too!). Unfortunately I put all the weight back on plus 10lbs cause all I cold eat were slider foods. I had my revision oct 3 and have almost lost all the weight I regained! So excited to get back to where I was and keep this loser bus going!!! This time it seems much easier (no stuck feelings). Love my bypass!! Good luck on your journey! -
I can't believe it!! I got the call yesterday from my dr that my insurance is covering both the band removal and the bypass revision. Wednesday April 5th is the fucking day! I am so happy, I have suffered so long with the band I am ready for this! [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

ForeverSleever replied to FayBee's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
@FayBeeHello. Dr. Michael Wood from DMC Harper BMI was my surgeon. However, I am currently considering trying Dr. Hendrick for a revision if needed/possible. How is he? -

It'll be quicker than you think! It only took my insurance 5 days to respond for my revision surgery. When is your anticipated surgery date?

Dexilant?
Amanda Nicole Hosaflook replied to soocalchic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dexilant is the only thing that works for me. I've been on it for years. My food and water still comes back up but at least it doesn't burn! Sucks how expensive it is. I'm also mad cause I read AFTER I got my surgery that if you have gerd you shouldn't get the sleeve. My bari surgeon knew I had gerd and did the sleeve anyways. So now I'm kinda stuck. Don't want to do a revision to gastric bypass so I just deal and hope I don't get cancer. -
GERD or NAH?
PatientEleventyBillion replied to ForeverSleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like GERD. One of the big components of it too is having the feeling like you're going to burp but it winds up being regurgitated food/drink. Definitely get the assessment from your doctor though, they might order other tests too. I have moderate GERD/reflux going into a sleeve next month and crossing my fingers it doesn't make this any worse or I could be facing a revision too. -
Hello All, I am new to BariatricPal. I was sleeved in 2015 (Jan) and ever since that day I have been nauseous, I've had heartburn and little to no appetite. I am in the process of possibly getting a revision, if that will help with all of the afformentioned. I barely eat or drink and I am hoping my surgeon will order tests to better understand my situation. I have searched for what I was experiencing and the only thing I learned was that others are or were having the same complications, but some received no explanation from their doctors. At this point I am wondering if my complications are serious enough for my insurance to cover the costs. And also if what I am experiencing could be GERD.
