Finally Made It To Onderland
Poodlelover56 replied to shakey88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your menu. I am 10 pounds from Onederland and I can't wait to do the happy dance too! I am down 27 pounds since 9/28 when I started the pre op liquid. Banded 10/12. Weight is coming off slow and steady. I had a funny NSV yesterday. I was having a pedicure and as my peducurist( is that a word) was massaging my lower legs, she commented that my legs were smaller! Yahoo. -
Jump for joy...but hang on to your britches. Soon those will be a thing of the past also. Congratulations on such a great NSV!!!

I am full of successes this month. I think I was in a plateau and I didn't even realize it because I lost another 3 pounds this week and suddenly all my size 10 slacks were hanging on me. Got some size 8 retro flare slacks from Penneys and some size 8 slacks from Sears. They all zipped and look great! I even found some size 8 bootcut jeans that fit. Size 8 pants. Seriously, sweeter words have never been said...

Nsv - "one-forty Land" At The Doctor!
SKCUNNINGHAM posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Went for my official 9 month follow up with my PCP. The routine is put your stuff in a room and then come weigh. They have a traditional post and beam type scale, where you slide the weights back and forth until it balances. So yesterday, this is how it went. I rushed into the exam room, dropped my purse and jacket and hopped up on the exam table (impossible for me to "hop" up there 9 months ago) to take off my Nehi grape colored high top Chucks. Thunk, Thunk, the shoes drop to the floor. I jump down from the table and rush back into the hall to the scale. The nurse slides the weight to 150 and it is TOO MUCH. So she lets me move the big weight from 150 to 100, then move the smaller sliding along the bar to settle on 147. I step off the scale and do a happy dance standing there next too her. Probably startled a few folks, seeing a grown woman with peacock blue socks on her feet doing an impromptu dance at the scale. I know I have been below 150 for about a week, because I could tell from my scale at home what the doctor's scale would say - but seeing it on the official scale - and actually balancing the weights is MUCH MORE satisfying to me than stepping on my scale at home. Nine months of work, summed up on the scale in front of my face. And the icing on the cake was when the doc told me she had removed "obesity" from my diagnosis in her records. She told me it no longer applied to me. :-) All my bloodwork was great - except my total cholesterol is over 200 at 233. I think it is because of heredity - not anything I am eating. But, I am going to up my exercise (haven't been doing much) and start working oatmeal in to my diet to see if I can lower the overall number and raise the good number before my one year checkup. I don't want to go back on a statin drug. Life is Good! -
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have lost 62 lbs since I started this journey. I had an awesome nsv moment today. Since I arrived at my grandmother's house I have not been able to sit on this particular wooden chair, the arms wouldnt let me sit on it, but today I was passing by it and decided to try, and I slid right in!!!! Woo hoo Julie!!!! You go girl!!! I can imagine how great it must have felt to put on your daughter's belt! and on the second hole!!!! I would have loved to have seen your face in that moment! I love this NSV! -
I hope a guy's NSV is ok to post here too. I'm about 4 1/2 weeks out and have resisted the urge to buy any new clothes yet. I've been VERY fortunate in that I'm already halfway to goal but I know anything I buy now won't fit when I reach goal. I've moved a couple of times in the past few years for work and unfortunately have some of those boxes of stuff that don't get unpacked and just get thrown into the 'junk room'. Well yesterday I stumbled onto one of those unopened boxes and found about 8 pairs of jeans that were supposed to have been taken to goodwill a few years ago because my (previously) fat *ss couldn't fit in them anymore. Well I now have 7 additional pairs of jeans I can wear and the 8th pair should be wearable soon. Oh, the little things in life that make you smile.

Been a bit blue recently (gosh, I seem to come here and say that s LOT! - Sorry) I have however had the most amazing NSV at the weekend. I had to take my kids to a park opening event for work, and when things got a little slow we decided to try out some of the new play equipment, yes I mean we, and not THEY as it would normally be. I now fit on children's play equipment, and not only that, but we ALL fit on it comfortably! It felt great! Randomly I am also getting to one of those points where everyone notices, and comments on your weight loss 4 people have asked me a variety of the "are you going to stop now" question this week (well one asked if I was ill, although I'm taking that as a compliment!) All in all a satisfactory week :smile1: :smile1: :smile1:

4 Weeks since Gastric Sleeve Surgery Today! Normal Loss? I Think I'm A Slow Loser
quazarfrog replied to quazarfrog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you - it's all relative I guess. I weigh in once a week to check my weight progress but I couldn't do it every day because I'd go crazy:) I am now wearing an xl in old navy which is a huge nsv for me because when I got sleeved - I didn't fit into any thing there. . Small goals are helping me along the journey. -
4 Weeks since Gastric Sleeve Surgery Today! Normal Loss? I Think I'm A Slow Loser
DebiC replied to quazarfrog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all feel that way. Even though it isn't realistic for most-We think the weight should just drop off. It's true that those of us with more weight to lose will lose quicker-our bodies need more calories each day just to move. I've read on here where people have lost 250+lbs in a year and others who have lost 60lbs in a year. I think one thing that's important to me is not to weigh myself often so that I don't become obsessed with how much I've lost or stalled or gained on a daily basis. I need to just keep plugging away and look for more of those NSV-which you seem to hv already noticed in yourself. -
What a great post Coops, and a great NSV! This is the best one can hope for: to use this tool not just to loose the weight but to truly change destructive habits in the process. I really loved reading that is is really possible. Congratulations!!!! You're an inspiration!!!!!

NSV today...The first person to notice that I looked better is my banker. I only see her a couple of times a year, but it was nice that someone finally said something!

I wowed myself and a friend last night. I needed to go to the mall for walking shoes because my wally world specials were like walking in boxes and were falling off my feet. (NSV right there, hmmm?) Before Rex (my sleeve) I would have parked as close as possible to the entrance nearest my desired store and waddled my way into the store and back out. I hated shopping! Last night, we parked outside one of the big anchor stores and walked through there, looking at shoes, perfume, etc. Then we strolled down the mall, window shopping at all the little stores, walking through several of them, until we came to the sports shoe store, where I tried on and purchased a pair of sale walking shoes in a smaller size! We cruised through the other 2 big anchor stores, then walked the length of the mall back to the one we had entered...and I didn't stop to rest or feel winded at all! I don't mind shopping now! I'm going to make a post in the fitness section as well, with a couple of questions.

Hi, I'm 42, wife of 20 yrs, mother of 6 ( ages 3-23 ) and a grany to 2. My oldest son ( 19) was with me the other day and someone asked if his girlfriend wanted to try a food sample (me! ). I loved the nsv, but what was really great was the expression on my son's face. You would have swore someone stuck his foot in honey. lol

Hey Julie ... congrats... another great NSV! I too have started to wear belts with my trousers and jeans... it is saving me a fortune in new clothes too! Especially when I was in between sizes. I am hoping that one day I can wear one, like you, for 'fashion' and to pretty up an outfit!! -
Great NSV... congrats! I agree the tape measure is more of a friend to me that the scales; I haven't lost a pound for 6 weeks... but in that time I have dropped a trouser size????

Congrats! That is a great nsv!

I measure once a month. This morning, for the first time I can remember, my BELLY measurement (the biggest part of my lower abdomen) is not larger than my HIP meaurement (the biggest part of the hip area including my butt)! Yea! It measured the same. Maybe next month it will even get to be smaller than my hips (here's hoping!). No wonder my pants are fitting better. My belly measurement started out a whopping 49.5". Now it is 36" - not tiny by any means, but getting there. My hip measurement started out at 48". Now they are at the same 36". Since I am in my last 13 pounds, I am really starting to focus on doing toning / firming exercises, and will be trying to whittle my waist down. Since my ankle is stronger now after recovering from the bad sprain, I am going back to Zumba - that should get my waist smaller. For you new folks, take your measurements before you start losing. Sometimes, the measuring tape can really show your loss better than the scale does.

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend. My final guests left this morning and after 10 days of different groups of folks to feed I am ready for a little rest. Tomorrow I have to get back on my program. No exercise for weeks, too much pumpkin pie and cupcakes I'm afraid. I really don't want to go to Dr Tues because I am afraid I have not lost, might have gained for the first time since surgery. How did everyone else do over Thanksgiving? Can anyone tell me how to respond to a post? We used to be able to hit "respond" on that post. Now the only thing I see to do is make a new post. Now sure I like the new format yet. Ms Lady, how are you doing? LisaAnn, are you overfilled maybe? Any better now? Kauai, congratulations on the NSV size 18! Fantastic and I know you feel good about yourself too. Thanksgiving is over. We must forget any overeating we did and get back on our programs again. Walk, exercise, drink that water and eat that protein. We can do this! Blessings, GG

I think this is a NSV... Today my hubby insisted on getting a Mac Donalds - it was a hangover cure for him... yea, whatever! 18mths ago, with no movement on the scales for 5 weeks, I would have joined him saying 'what the hell, this stupid diet isn't working' and gorged myself on a Big Mac Meal - or whatever they are called! Today, however, I did not. The smell made me feel sick. The look of the food made my stomach turn. The whole idea of eating that sh*t and paying good money for it repulsed me. I have never looked at food in that way before. I am soooo proud of myself as I have been a little down and stressed lately that I didn't use food as a comfort and a friend. Instead, I have the sleeve and my health as my friend and they are both nicer!!
