I'm just wondering, does anyone else have problems with milk products? Mine is really weird. 6 years out & I can't drink milk, I do well with LIGHT yogurt or Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. (I'm also obsessed with cottage cheese) but milk hurts me SOOOO bad! Kara

Hi everyone, I'm 24 days post op had the sleeve done. I've seen my doctor and nutritionist twice already and was sent for i.v fluids and nausea medication. These last few weeks have not been easy but I get it this is a complete life change but the reason why im so frustrated is because I've now become sensitive to lactose and can not tolerate any milk products and even worse my allergy to soy is more sensitive than ever... what im really hoping for is help or advice on food ideas. To be completely honest im just sick of only Greek yogurt, Crystal light, broths but thankfully I can now handle a very soft chicken and green beans. I can only still have tiny amonts of anything period couple sips of protein or water at a time and 2 or 3 bites of soft foods. My nutritionist also told me to stay away from pasta, crackers, potatoes and rice. If anyone can tell me what their eating or ideas of things I can try soy and milk free please and thanks. Good luck too all my fellow pre and post op friends

How Do You Keep Stress Down on Thanksgiving?
teedsg replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Alex Brecher, thank you for your suggestions. This will be my first Thanksgiving where I really think about what I'm going to eat. Next year will be a different story because I will probably not eat anything but Protein shakes and Greek yogurt. Hoping my taste buds change by then. This will be such a challenge! -
@@tearsofapache, I'm sorry to hear about your budget. It definitely cost a lot. Maybe you can have Greek yogurt for Protein, you may need to get on some assistance for a while until you can do a little better. Hopefully, family and friends can help you out for a while. @@Madea61, I'm vegetarian, but for starters, you will need to see a nutritionist and start reading food labels. Make sure you have meat, protein, eggs, Greek yogurt, low sugar or less than 8g, low fat less than 8g, low carb less than 8g, and lots of veggies. And, have at least 64oz of Water per day. Say good bye to processed food and bread. It will help on the long run.

Scare and Confused
Butterflywarrior replied to Ididit521's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I did my pre op diet of seven days. It was soo hard especially with my mom eating around me and finding out I'm allergic to sugar free stuff I did cheat with a little yogurt and a bite here and there and felt emotionally weak but it happens...you have a full sized stomach, gherkin hormones and more ... Pick up the pieces and start over! Interestingly, I was so sick from vomiting and diarrhea, my surgeon allowed me Protein powder with forbidden skim milk and celery and carrots finely chopped I in my broth so it's not like all or nothing Not saying cheating is okay but also saying calling yourself a failure isn't useful or helpful and this is not likely a prediction of how things will be post op bc you will physically feel totally different and not likely hungry -
I am 8 weeks post op. Suddenly this week, I am very hungry. My usual AM premier Protein shake wears off very quickly, and I need food. It's not acid, but real hunger. I've been eating yogurt, cottage cheese, veggie burger, banana. Is this hunger here to stay? I've also been craving sweets and salt. Odd!! Thx! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Snacks are Protein shakes, yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna pouch, etc. I stay at 1,000 calories a day or less. Had lapband surgery 10/12/16 -

I dont have a preferred flavor yet (havent tried wings post op) but I have a prefered method of cooking. Its the Alton Brown method. I have noticed that it works best on never frozen wings. After breaking down the flats and the drums, steam your wings for 10 min. Dont overcrowd the pan, do it in batches if ness. The bake on a wire rack at 400 for 20 min on each side. They will come out really crispy. Toss to coat. If you use a thick sauce like bbq or teriyaki put back in the oven on broil for 1-2 min per side (watch it!) I used to prefer garlic parm which should be fairly on plan. I also have made a ranch dip using greek yogurt that came out well. I added GENEPRO but that is optional. How do you guys manage all the sweets?
Armygalbonnie replied to 11072016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I found out yesterday that I've been making a big mistake. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. While on the liquid diet and now pureed, I was supposed to get 2 Meal Replacements a day. I couldn't tolerate the sweet MR or even the soup, but I could tolerate yogurt with unflavored Protein. That DIDN'T count!!!! I wasn't getting enough nutrients. The unflavored protein is just whey and nothing else. I HAVE to do MRs!!! I still can't tolerate them. This morning I was finally able to get down a Premier Protein Drink. For lunch I tried the Bariatric Advantage lemon pudding. It was way too sweet. I only ate about 1/3 of it, then I had to take a Zofran because I was so nauseated. I wonder if I'm having some dumping. -

I love those soups!!! I found them at Kroger, I have had split pea and tomato so far. I was on Clear Liquids for 3 days but after that went to full liquids and things like yogurt. I can't have much else until 5 weeks out but honestly I don't want anything else yet. -

For me, it's 3 weeks post op and is only for 5 days. But honestly, I can't stomach the thought of puréed anything. I may do baby foods. I can have yogurt as a Protein and will most likely stick with that plus some applesauce. I feel very meh about puréed. I know some people get excited about pureed but I'd rather skip and move to solids and soft veggies. I'm not much of a meat eater. It's salmon or sometimes tuna, if anything. I had mine Nov 9th. I was on shakes and liquids. I started applesauce and cottage cheese already. Today I had some vegetable soup. Omg it was good. I am so sick of sweet stuff! I am to progress thru each stage from 2-5 days as follows. Applesauce, cottage cheese, well cooked mushy vegetables, eggs , Beans ( bean soup), then fish, dark meat chicken then nuts etc... I cannot take those sweet , chalky shakes anymore. I have to eat a sf Popsicle after just to get the taste out of my mouth. Oh! And I am allowed a set point smoothie--- handful of spinach, 4-5 strawberries, blueberries, half banana and yogurt or Protein powder blended. It is soooo good!
