  1. I think we all feel that way. Even though it isn't realistic for most-We think the weight should just drop off. It's true that those of us with more weight to lose will lose quicker-our bodies need more calories each day just to move. I've read on here where people have lost 250+lbs in a year and others who have lost 60lbs in a year. I think one thing that's important to me is not to weigh myself often so that I don't become obsessed with how much I've lost or stalled or gained on a daily basis. I need to just keep plugging away and look for more of those NSV-which you seem to hv already noticed in yourself.

    Nsv Of Sorts!

What a great post Coops, and a great NSV! This is the best one can hope for: to use this tool not just to loose the weight but to truly change destructive habits in the process. I really loved reading that is is really possible. Congratulations!!!! You're an inspiration!!!!!
  3. Now THAT is a great NSV! Congratulations, I remembe the first time I had to wear a belt, it felt amazing and awe inspiring
  4. That's awesome! Congrats on such a great NSV.
  5. NSV today...The first person to notice that I looked better is my banker. I only see her a couple of times a year, but it was nice that someone finally said something!

    NSV shout outs

I wowed myself and a friend last night. I needed to go to the mall for walking shoes because my wally world specials were like walking in boxes and were falling off my feet. (NSV right there, hmmm?) Before Rex (my sleeve) I would have parked as close as possible to the entrance nearest my desired store and waddled my way into the store and back out. I hated shopping! Last night, we parked outside one of the big anchor stores and walked through there, looking at shoes, perfume, etc. Then we strolled down the mall, window shopping at all the little stores, walking through several of them, until we came to the sports shoe store, where I tried on and purchased a pair of sale walking shoes in a smaller size! We cruised through the other 2 big anchor stores, then walked the length of the mall back to the one we had entered...and I didn't stop to rest or feel winded at all! I don't mind shopping now! I'm going to make a post in the fitness section as well, with a couple of questions.

    Fab 40's shout out

Hi, I'm 42, wife of 20 yrs, mother of 6 ( ages 3-23 ) and a grany to 2. My oldest son ( 19) was with me the other day and someone asked if his girlfriend wanted to try a food sample (me! ). I loved the nsv, but what was really great was the expression on my son's face. You would have swore someone stuck his foot in honey. lol
  8. Hey Julie ... congrats... another great NSV! I too have started to wear belts with my trousers and jeans... it is saving me a fortune in new clothes too! Especially when I was in between sizes. I am hoping that one day I can wear one, like you, for 'fashion' and to pretty up an outfit!!

    Nsv - By By Belly

Great NSV... congrats! I agree the tape measure is more of a friend to me that the scales; I haven't lost a pound for 6 weeks... but in that time I have dropped a trouser size????

    Nsv - By By Belly

Congrats! That is a great nsv!
  11. I measure once a month. This morning, for the first time I can remember, my BELLY measurement (the biggest part of my lower abdomen) is not larger than my HIP meaurement (the biggest part of the hip area including my butt)! Yea! It measured the same. Maybe next month it will even get to be smaller than my hips (here's hoping!). No wonder my pants are fitting better. My belly measurement started out a whopping 49.5". Now it is 36" - not tiny by any means, but getting there. My hip measurement started out at 48". Now they are at the same 36". Since I am in my last 13 pounds, I am really starting to focus on doing toning / firming exercises, and will be trying to whittle my waist down. Since my ankle is stronger now after recovering from the bad sprain, I am going back to Zumba - that should get my waist smaller. For you new folks, take your measurements before you start losing. Sometimes, the measuring tape can really show your loss better than the scale does.

    Calling all A11s!!

Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend. My final guests left this morning and after 10 days of different groups of folks to feed I am ready for a little rest. Tomorrow I have to get back on my program. No exercise for weeks, too much pumpkin pie and cupcakes I'm afraid. I really don't want to go to Dr Tues because I am afraid I have not lost, might have gained for the first time since surgery. How did everyone else do over Thanksgiving? Can anyone tell me how to respond to a post? We used to be able to hit "respond" on that post. Now the only thing I see to do is make a new post. Now sure I like the new format yet. Ms Lady, how are you doing? LisaAnn, are you overfilled maybe? Any better now? Kauai, congratulations on the NSV size 18! Fantastic and I know you feel good about yourself too. Thanksgiving is over. We must forget any overeating we did and get back on our programs again. Walk, exercise, drink that water and eat that protein. We can do this! Blessings, GG
  14. I think this is a NSV... Today my hubby insisted on getting a Mac Donalds - it was a hangover cure for him... yea, whatever! 18mths ago, with no movement on the scales for 5 weeks, I would have joined him saying 'what the hell, this stupid diet isn't working' and gorged myself on a Big Mac Meal - or whatever they are called! Today, however, I did not. The smell made me feel sick. The look of the food made my stomach turn. The whole idea of eating that sh*t and paying good money for it repulsed me. I have never looked at food in that way before. I am soooo proud of myself as I have been a little down and stressed lately that I didn't use food as a comfort and a friend. Instead, I have the sleeve and my health as my friend and they are both nicer!!
  15. Omg!! Not only do you look like a princess, you are also SMOKING HOT!! I know exactly what you are talking about with your behaviors at dances. Your story gives me happiness for you and hope for me. I am 25 days postop and have been on a 2 1/2 wk stall. I have been reading the NSVs for hope and your story has done it! Thank you so much for posting it! You inspire me! Keep rocking it!!!

    November 26th Check In :)

I am down 2.4 lbs this week to 191.8 - just 2 ounces shy of my Thanksgiving goal. I hope to get into the 180's by next week - haven't been there in about 13 years! I had a great NSV yesterday. I am a singer and do a lot of gigs every Nov/December with people that I only really see during that time of year. I sang with one of the women last night and she asked me if I had lost some weight. I told her that I had lost 50 lbs and she said that when had I arrived at the gig she didn't even recognize me. That made me feel great!

    November 26th Check In :)

I checked back to my last check-in and I'm down 2 lbs i the last two weeks The weight is just coming off soooo sloooowwwlllyyyy. But I had a very nice NSV yesterday. I bought some pants at Coscto, which was an NSV in itself (they don't sell plus sizes!). But I didn't just need the 18's, the 16's fit. So, I decide to head back later in the day with my mom, and decided to get a pair of 14's, to use as a next set of goal pants. Brought then home and tried them on to see how far before I could get them fastened, and THEY FIT!! I WAS ABLE TO FASTEN THEM!! Without even laying down on the bed!! I fit in a size 14. What's ridiculous is that I've been wearing some of the same brand in 18's. Yeah, they are a bit loose, but I guess I need to pay more attention to how loose! So, even though the scale is being a b***h, the inches are still coming off. Going to take measurements this weekend too.

    My First Nsv!!!

Even though I just had surgery on Monday, I've already had a non scale victory! When I logged today's weight into my fitness pal, it said because I had lost more than 10 pounds, they had to recalculate my goals. I know my calorie goal was over 1300 (which I thought was a bit much) but now it's down 1240. I'm totally psyched! I'm not logging my food right now because I'm just on full liquids. I'm nowhere close to the amount of calories I should be having, so I don't see the sense in it. I love this app!!

Smaller clothes are the ultimate NSV! Congrats! Don't go to crazy buying 14's like I did. The smallest I ever was in my life was a 14. When I got back to it, I figured I would never get any smaller so I went ape buying them. I had quite the wardrobe. Now I'm a 10-12 and have all these clothes that I spent a fortune on and can't wear! Luckily I have a sister-in-law and a couple friends that are that size.

    Camisoles Are My Friend

I have been shrinking back through stored clothing, and have recently discovered some pretty camisoles I don't even remember having. I like them enough I ordered a couple of more. I like them because: They are pretty Some are shape-wear, and help hold in the jiggly middle Even if they are not shape wear, the cami keeps me from having to look at the jiggly middle The extra layer is nice to wear, since I am ALWAYS COLD. Thought someone else might like to give camisoles a try. And, since this post is about undergarments (yes, I know all camis aren't always "under" garments - but bear with me here) - I am celebrating an NSV about underwear - I dropped another size in briefs! Finally back in 7's. YEA!
  22. Hey everyone!! Check in with your weight lost so far, or even some non-scale victories (NSVs) you'd like to share! I'm down a total of 56lbs, and my biggest NSV is that I was able to avoid the post-Thanksgiving food coma, by sampling a little of everything and not stuffing myself. I didn't even eat any of the Desserts, and that was a big deal to me

    NSV shout outs

I must be an NSV *****! LOL I keep looking for them. After walking out of a pair of pants last week, I decided to go through my closet today while putting away laundry. I've lost my way out of 4 pairs of pants, 2 dresses, several shirts and, unfortunately, my beach cover up. You know, that big t-shirt that us fat girls wear so no one can tell that you're fat under it? Well, mine is a dress now and slipping off my shoulders so badly that it had to go. I also "lost" a beautiful red shirt I bought at the after-Christmas sales last year. It still has the tags on it! Darn it! I guess it's worth losing the $20 shirt to be down almost 60 pounds...and counting! I gained several pairs of pants, though. They are two sizes down from my pre-surgery size, and I am wearing a pair of shorts that wouldn't even go up my thighs back then. So, I'm getting to wear some new stuff even while I'm packing up the old stuff.

    Yea for NSV!
  25. Burgandy, I'm in the same boat. I feel your frustration! We can get through this! I am trying hard to keep faith by using this site, the NSV's and the wonderful people on here. There are many people with great experience posting on this site. I am so thankful that they are willing to share their experience, strength and hope with us. Hang in there. I'm right along side you. Big hugs, Lisa
