  1. Hi everyone! I recently had sleeve surgery on October 22, 2019. Prior to surgery I was on a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I couldn’t wait for my surgery because I was under the impression that I would be having to force down liquids after and have no desire towards food/eating. I was WRONG. I am not technically hungry, but I am finding that I am having obsessive thoughts over food/the comfort of food that consumes me most of the day. When I see someone eating a nice salad, I kind of wish I could have some etc. TV commercials and smelling food is torture. Does anyone else experience this craving or food obsession post op? I am shocked as I thought I would have zero desire to eat. On the other hand - Over 3 weeks of liquid only is no joke. Thanks y’all!! -Melissa

Okay. No pics right now, but I spent $$$$ tonite online purchasing a winter coat, boots, a sweater dress, that Halloween belt, and a few other random items. Fingers crossed that I don’t lose more than another 10 pounds here in maintenance or else I get to wear baggy clothes again. Now that colder weather is here (it SNOWED in Oklahoma City today!) I want to buy clothes like crazy to stay warm

    October Surgery Roll Call

I had the Sleeve 10/22/19. One week Post Op
  4. I was sleeved October 1st, 2019 and I have a specific question about water intake. I have now lost 19 since surgery, but I am struggling with consuming 64 oz of water, in fact I had to get an IV due to dehydration. I know that I am not getting quite enough water, but is 64 oz really necessary? How does it help? If I can get some accurate and specific information, I would be better able to comply. My workplace is rather jerk-intensive, and I have been told that if I keep taking short breaks I will need to get a letter from my doctor, to submit to HR, to avoid "problems". Please advise, thanks.
  5. I have found so much useful information on these forums. I also bought all my vitamins, protein, and snacks at the store. I'm all set and ready to go. Can't wait and super excited. I'm on the low carb diet and have already lost 10 lbs. I may not need the surgery at this rate, LOL ! Any last minute suggestions from anyone? Anyone getting the procedure around the same time around me?

WOW!! You look great! You also took 10 years off!
  8. I was 140lbs until age 19. I have had body dysmorphia since age 10 or so. I thought I was super fat so I had 12K in liposuction. After the lipo I still thought I was fat so I decided "screw it" and just started eating whatever I wanted. Thus developing a food addiction in addition to the dysmorphia. Reached my heaviest weight 10 years later, which is when I had surgery. I still have body dysmorphia and at 129lbs I still think I am gigantic. I just have to learn not to say "screw it" and start eating nonstop again... which fortunately I am still unable to do even if I wanted to because I get sick so easily now. Most days I look in the mirror and see someone who belongs in a mumu. But some days I see a stick figure. It is kinda' nutso.

  18. Hi:) I had the gastric sleeve is 2012. Great success! I went from 353 to 167. Maintained weight till 2015 when we lost our baby boy. Four months after lose I became pregnant. Our rainbow was born 2016. A week after her turned one, I found out we were expecting again. Brings me to 2019 I have three beautiful kids and I weigh 363lbs On 10/16/19 I had my sleeve converted to gastric bypass. Recovery is definitely rougher than the sleeve but hanging in there. From my pre-op diet and the first two weeks postop I now weigh 334. was just reaching out to see if anyone could share their success stories as I so badly want to be healthy again and lose all this excess weight. thanks so much

LOVE the coat and boots! The boots make you look 10 feet tall! Look out NYC! And, let the snow flakes fall... ;]
  20. So I have followed my doc's plans incredibly closely, and MASSIVELY overhauled my eating habits. I generally eat clean, protein first, no processed stuff (with the primary exception being protein shakes), and tonight we're going out to a place that has really good Reubens... my favorite food. I am planning to split one with my mother, who is also on a diet, but I am having a really hard time mentally doing this. I won't be having fries or any "naughty" sides (I doubt I'll get more than 1/3 of my sandwich half down, anyway, because of my sleeve size). I have more than enough calories to eat the entire sandwich, actually, but I still find myself wanting to not eat all day to "make up" for eating a "bad" food later. Does anyone else have this mental struggle? I'm a year out now, and beginning a slow transition to a wider food base, still looking to lose 10-15 vanity pounds. I'm just not really sure how to manage these thoughts and this visceral feeling of needing to restrict my food intake early in the day because I'm doing something "bad" later.

    October 2018 Sleevers

First, congratulations on all your success at this milestone! 134 lbs lost is CA-RAY-ZY. I think you are right, your body is likely acclimating to the new influx of calories, it's probably all "oooohh, calories, haven't had these in a while, lets hang on to them, cuz I don't know how long this is gonna last..." The last 10-15 lbs they say takes the longest to come off, staying on weight loss calories for your height will get you there eventually. Good luck with your appt with your doc/NUT

    October 2018 Sleevers

Hmm. Well, that's disappointing. Today is my 1 year anniversary, and this month is the first month I've gained weight (1 lb) and inches (2.75 overall). I understand how it happened - about 6 weeks ago I was finally able to eat more real food, so my body isn't used to getting more than 600 calories. Will talk to my doc/NUT on Friday at my appt. Hopefully, my body will eventually progress to tolerating raw veggies - that would really help with being able to eat lower calories. But, the good - I'm down 134 from my high weight, 112 from surgery weight. Lost 89% EWL. Only 13lbs over a healthy BMI. My doc tells patients to expect to get to a low point, then gain 10-15# over a few years. I had hoped where I am was the weight after a bit of regain, but I suspect I'm now at my low. I've been bouncing around the same weight for 7 weeks - about the same time I got out of the purgatory of only being able to eat yogurt. Hope everyone else is doing well.

    Dumping

I had my first dumping episode at about 3 months post op. It was from a couple bites of some dessert. In about 5-10 mins after eating it, I got the shakes, my heart started racing and I stared to sweat. Then 5 or so mins after that I got the runs. Then I barfed. Then more runs. I felt like total crap for about an hour then fell asleep. So yeah, it sucks.
