The sizes probably have to do with how there bodies are proportioned. I dunno! When I was 160 (years ago) I wore a 10. Im now at 202 and in a very loose bout to fall off my butt 16. I read on the forum that you lose a size around every 15 lbs so that sounds about right for sizes. Myself personally, I dont want anyone to see my "jelly rolls". Ive gotten good at hiding them over the years. Everyone except my closest friend that has seen my jellyrolls always said my size was proportionate with my body frame. BS I say! When I got back from HI (gone 12 days) my best friends eyes bout popped out her head. I only lost 6 more lbs while I was gone but apparently the size finally started dropping. Talk about a feel good moment. She said OMG, you lost a ton while you were gone, you look so good! its so nice to hear those things NSV*** Neither of my teenage boys know what I did. I have had bleeding stomach ulcers for years and they think those were repaired. My oldest (16) has a BIG mouth and no concept of social boundries so I didn't tell them. I have only told my parents my baby brother, but not the older one (his wife is a b***h and he would tell her) and my 2 closest friends. Anyway when we got home from HI I noticed my oldest son kept looking at me funny. finally he said, are you losing weight or something? Haha! I said yea it was all that hiking and dieting Im doing! Sweet!

Had my 3 week postop yesterday and he said everything looks perfect! YAY He said I can pretty much have anything that dont require chewing 30 times to swallow, and to quit stressing so much about not being able to tolerate the Protein Drinks. Although he would like to see me @ 60-70g a day, he is more concerned that the majority of my nutrition come from Protein. I told him I was pretty much living off scrambled eggs, (2 a day) because I was pretty scared to try much else because Im terrified of a leak. He reassured me that the chances of that are very slim, to use good judgement and not to worry so much, that I had followed all the rules up till now so obviously I had it under control. He cleared me for a cup of coffee, and said I can have a diet coke in 2 more weeks. I asked him about carbonation stretching out the sleeve, and he said that is totally not true just to sip it slowly as it may make me gassy/burpy. He was very pleased about my 29 lb weight loss, and told me the stall I went through was totally normal, and sometime happen frequently so no stressing about it, just keep on keeping on, the weight will come off. His goal weight for me is 120, and I told him I was 130 when I graduated HS and was very slender. He said 130 is fine, but 120 will allow the 7-15lb bounceback around 3 years and still keep me in a normal BMI. All in all, a very good post op! Im going today to get me some shaved deli meat, sounds delish! NSV~~~went shopping yesterday for a few things for Hawaii, I didn't have to shop in the "womans" section, got things from the ladies section, I have went from a 18W to a loose 16 pants, and a XXL shirt to XL!!! WooHoooooooo!

I really love this NSV! -
I have a NSV to scream about!!! Woohoo!!! I finally broke down and went to buy some clothes. My 24 fall off, my 22s look rediculous, my 20s come down over my hips w/o unbuttoning them. So I had ONE pair of size 18 pants that look and feel good for work. Well, I can't wear the same damn pants every day so I went to the AVENUE, or as I call it, my store, the fat people store. I was on the way to the airport with my dad and sister so they came with me. I tried on a bunch of size 18s and they just didn't look right, my dad said - "go get the next size down girl" . So I did! And guess what!! They FIT!!!!! YAY!!!! I put on a 14/16 for the frst tme in well - hmm - about 10 years????? At work today everyone congratulated me on my weght loss. Even my boss!! He said, "by the way Nicole, notice that you've lost a lot of weght, 'm happy for you, keep t up." Well - he is so self absorbed was n shock!!! LOL So YAY ME!!! Now to get into ONEDERLAND!!!!!

Accountability Update 30 days - 6mo SD
Egomom posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My first 30 day on my supervised diet are nearly complete. My first two weeks were a bust but the second half I have lost 9 pounds to date. My biggest struggles continue to be eating out and unplanned eating although I am geting better at making quick choices that are on plan. I am doing well sticking to calories but see that my carb creep up and fat is creeping up. I havae a few NSVs my clothes fit a little better and I do have more energy. I have started working out or being more active eather. I walked 2 miles with my kids the other day and felt great. I have my first appointment back with my PCP on Monday for the official weigh in then it is on to month 2. My favorite meal plan items this month have been yoplait greek 100 whips, celery and (insert cream cheese, peanut butter, or dressing) string cheese and deviled eggs. My goals for this week are to exceercise three time per week with at least two of those being core work and stretching. -
Congrats Melzie! My husband too told me I am losing my "LOVE HANDLES" boy I won't miss them! But I guess he already is! LOL! Keep up the good work! And I want to hear more NSV's!!!!

Slower weight loss after revision?
anappleaday replied to anappleaday's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
exactly...my plan is to measure my success by NSV's and not numbers! I just dont want to have the surgery- and because I'm slow losing, be afraid that i wont be successful. all i really want is to be under 200! thats 50 pounds! surely i can do that. LOL! you are all inspirations to us pre surgery. thank you for still being here and helping us. i have 10 days left! my doc is removing my band laporoscpy, and then doing my RNY with a robot for the first time. (of course- if he can) i want to say the robot is the reason for my nerves...but i would be scared having any surgery. i think im phobic! i had a c-section without drugs in 99. they just cut me open and took him out. -
oh yeah, I'd get another therapist ASAP. please please please try to ignore the scale. you did not gain five pounds...the calibration is different for any scale you get on. you must remember you are not a number but a person. are you having nsv's? I bet you are. are your clothes fitting better or are you wearing smaller sizes? I bet you are. do you have more energy/less pain? I bet you are. focus on those goals and forget about the damn scale. hang in there!! I started seeing a therapist because of all the changes I've gone through this year. she has a band and understands wls and food issues so I think we'll work well together.

I am still excited beyond all belief about this. I have been shopping at Lane Bryant or in the "woman's" section of clothing stores for twenty plus years now. We all know that in regular department stores, the selection for plus size clothing is very, very limited. Yesterday I took my daughter back to school shopping. We went into Kohl's. All of my clothes are absolutely huge on me, and I really need some new clothes for work. I had already made plans to hit Lane Bryant later in the day. But, as long as we were already there, I begrudgingly made my way back to their teeny, tiny "woman's" department. As I made my way there, I was looking at all the really, really cute clothes along the way in the normal sizes sections and hoping that one day I will be able to wear those cute clothes. So, I get to the Woman's section. I had to guess my size, because it had been a while since I clothes shopped. I got to the dressing room, and the clothes were too big. I couldn't believe it. So, I went the next size down, and then the next until I was at the smallest size they offered in the woman's section, and they were still too big!! I couldn't believe it. So, I thought, dare I venture into the regular people's section where all the really cute clothes are. I thought, no, I am just going to be out of luck because there is no way nothing there will fit me. But, I decided what the heck, it wouldn't be the first time in my life I was disappointed so I may as well give it a try. I grabbed several items that I thought were incredibly cute and made my way back to the dressing rooms. You won't believe what happened... THEY FIT!! I was so excited and happy you wouldn't believe it. It was crazy, but a whole wave of emotions came over me and I sat down on the bench in the fitting room and started crying. Then, I had to run and find my daughter and share the exciting news with her. I had to call my husband and my mom, she called her brother. I have to say, this is the best NSV I have ever experienced. And, today, just to see if it worked in other stores, I tried clothes on at Dillards and Coldwater Creek, and I was able to fit in regular sizes there too! I am so blessed to have been given this wonderful opportunity to be sleeved. It is truly the best thing to ever have happened to me!

This is fabulous. I bet you wanted to cry. I can't wait until that happens to me. That is definitely a NSV. Hoo Ray for you. Sherri

All, Today is my one year anniversary of my surgery and I was wondering how everyone is doing on their Anniversary. I would love to hear from all of you as your DAY approaches. As of today, I have lost 115 since the begining of my journey. I can not tell you how much better I feel and all of the NSV I have had. I started out in a 26 jean or 3x and am now wearing 12p jeans and some med tops. I went from 3x scrubs to wear to work, to now buying mediums. More important, I feel so much better. I can breath, I am not short of breath anymore, I can walk from the parking lot to the store, or into work. I can reach things so much better, not knocking stuff over with my butt.... My chances of diabeties has lowered, my blood pressure has lowered. I can now sit on the floor if I want, I can cross my legs... My thighs dont rub as bad. I feel healthy... finally. I love, love ,love my band and want to hear your stories. Following those band rules. Lois

Is bestest a word? Oh well. Lately, I haven't been losing a lot of weight, but my body is changing so dramatically. I tried on and fit into a size 16 pair of jeans...down from a 28...a tight 28... Unbelievable. But I experienced my favorite NSV to date today. I was at a local preschool to sign up my daughter for next September, and I saw my sister's friend. We've known each other for over 4 years and see each other at least 6 times a year. Well, I saw her driving away and I waved to her and she waved back, but had that look of "who the hell was that" on her face. She had no idea who I was. It's funny because I saw her two weeks ago at my niece's school play and she looked through me that night as well..but I just chalked it up to looking for a seat and dealing with her son... But today, there was no reason to not know me. I am a very recognizable person because I am 6ft tall. I used to say I was recognizable because I was 6ft tall and fat....but not any more... BESTEST NSV EVER!!! Rainer

Ok, I'll go. First, I'm sorry I disappeared!! I'm afraid I fell off the face of the earth. I got really, really depressed & cut myself off from everyone. Literally. Friends, family, job, church, the works. I'm just now beginning to pull myself out of the pit. It's been bad. I wouldn't say the depression was band related, though the changes from the band really didn't help, heh. I strongly dislike change! I think I'm still in mourning for my old way of life, even though I'm enjoying the changes the band has brought. Dunno, definitely a work in progress! I'm frustrated with my results. Starting at surgery weight, I've lost 44 pounds in the past year. Granted, that's amazing for the old Janet. I've NEVER lost 44 pounds & kept them off for more than a week! Actually, I've never lost more then 40 pounds! But I really was hoping for better. *Shrug* I trucked on down to 250-ish & just stopped. I've been right around 250 since Sept. Never below it, mind you, lol. My restriction is fine, not sure how much I have anymore (lost track). I can eat anything & everything, but have to do it VERY slowly & carefully. Some days I don't eat much, some days I can eat the world. I get really restricted around that time of the month, hate that! So, for my list: Weight loss so far: 44 pounds Inches lost so far: 53 inches Are you at goal? Not even halfway. How much further? *sigh* 110 pounds (Around that, not sure what my goal is.) Favorite NSVs: I can wear my wedding ring again. I put on size 18 pants the other day. (Couldn't close them, but got 'em over my hips!!) Would you do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat. Overall the changes have been good. I'm not happy with where I am, but I'm definitely not gaining, which I was before the surgery! High point: The beginning (honeymoon). I loved the hope. Low point: Probably my 1 year appointment. I really thought I'd finally broken 250, but I hadn't. Oh well. Before & "during" pics: I'm still working on sizing them, but here's my scar pics. It was hard to find the scars! Didn't realize how much they had faded. One NSV, I guess, lol, it seems my boobs are further away from the scars then they used to be, the port scar is now above my underwear line, and I have a waist now, woohoo! I've missed you all! Hopefully some of you are still on LBT & can forgive me for disappearing! Hope you're all doing awesome & getting all the success you deserve!! ((( Hugs all around!! ))) Janet

Just wanted to say hi. Still plugging away. Right now I find myself wanting to snack and knowing that it's not allowed...struggling a bit with head hunger and reminding myself only to eat when hungry. It's a challenge. I lost 2 pounds after my first fill (3/18) but I'm back at a standstill again. Finally got an exercise routine going so I hope that helps. I have had the NSV of fitting into a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in six months at least, so that's something. I am still looking for a local fill doc. I have a few choices but haven't finalized yet (or found out if they will accept me -- need to send my surgery report). I'm ready to have that second fill lined up. Hope all of my fellow Georgian bandsters are well!

Kim ~ LOVE your pic....you are beautiful!! You are going to be in onederland b4 you know it. It's funny how 9 lbs can seem so small and yet so big at the same time. You'll get there!! Neal ~ We ended up in the Yukon/Mustang area. Edmond was too much of a drive for work considering the traffic. We love the easy access to OKC and the small town feel you get in Yukon. I have to say we are really impressed with the down-home feel and the friendly people that don't even know you from Adam. I swear the guy from the drive-thru at Starbucks chatted for 5 mins. We are going to love it. The moving company comes next week for the estimate then we will schedule the move within the next couple of weeks. Lapbandit ~ Super NSV on the new clothes!! Great time of year to go shopping too. Amy ~ Have fun shopping. Does you DH get a new suit? Hey Myra ~ How's the wagon ride.....are you back on yet? I hear you on the junk food. It seems to go down way too smooth. 3Loves told her surgeon he forgot the band on her brain. Food can really mess with that tummy/brain connection!! Give us an update on how your doing.

Just had a minor emergency in my neighborhood. I pulled on a pair of jeans and ran out to help. It wasn't until later that I realized I was comfortably wearing jeans from my "too tight" pile. Great feeling!

Thanks so much! Its nice to know that there are others with the same fear. I know I don't want to be this size forever especially if I want to get a new kidney and have a life again. I can't wait to have my own NSV to post lol
