I'm drinking shakes, eating cottage cheese, unsweetened applesauce, soups- cream of anything , sf yogurt. I add unflavored Protein powder to some of this too. GENEPRO has 30 grams of protein so if you add it to Soup it's a good amount. I have eaten some mashed potatoes although I don't think that's a good choice. I don't get creative with puréed - just the basics. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Stop when full, or push on to get required protein in - confused
ShelterDog64 replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I haven't been able to find Protein2O in any store in the Tacoma, WA area, and I'd love to try it. I may bite the bullet and order some but the shipping is terrible. Like @@LisaMergs, I'm not much interested in food anymore. It's just a job now, instead of my very favorite hobby, but I still like to cook which actually was a hobby of mine and the eating was a secondary part of it. I exist on mostly yogurt, string cheese, refried Beans, Fairlife milk (if you haven't tried this yet, get it right away) and GENEPRO Protein powder. I eat a few bites of vegetables most nights with my family and their meal, but I don't eat with gusto like I used to. I know my hunger is going to come back at some point, so for the time being I'm enjoying this 'meh' relationship with food and am trying to shed as much weight as possible. We're having friends over for Thanksgiving dinner today and I'm making part of the meal, they're bringing part. Even cooking all this normally gorge-worthy food hasn't make me hungry, eating the actual meal should be interesting Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! -
I went through that for my first 3 weeks. I would swallow but right when it hit my stomach it would hurt then go away. It only bothered me when it was cold stuff. Hot stuff or room temperature never gave me this problem. I was told by my RN this is normal. It's swollen tissue that has to heal. No medication can treat it. So I started pinching my ear lobe when it would happen to help with the pain. As for the protein shakes if it makes you vomit don't drink it. You need to find something that you can tolerate for now. Try chicken broth, jello, or yogurt if your on full liquids. Oikos Triple Zero yogurt has 15 grams of protein. At least if you can tolerate yogurt you can get your protein in. Listen to your body. If you vomit something it means your stomach can't tolerate it right now.

What's your diet like after your pouch heals?
2ndSpring replied to Ms. Brightside's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 8 weeks. I am allowed Protein, vegetables and fruit - no carbs until maintenance. My NUT said I could stop the shakes, but there is no way I can hit 60g of protein without the powder. A typical day: B: spinach omelette L: 3 oz of a protein with 1 oz of vegetable D: same as lunch Snack: coconut yogurt with a scoop of protein powder I'm averaging approx. 700 cals/day -
What's your diet like after your pouch heals?
Omieliz replied to Ms. Brightside's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm officially twelve weeks out today. Honestly, my calories vary daily. Some days, I just can barely eat a thing, and I barely get in 60 grams of Protein. My cals on bad days are around 450-500. Normally, however, I hit about 650-700 cals a day. Morning: I eat NF Fage yogurt 4 oz) or a one egg omelette with cherry peppers and a tablespoon of mozzarella cheese. Premier Protein shake Lunch: 2 ozs of tuna (Trader Joe's Sriracha tuna salad or 2 oz of the tuna pouch packets or 2 oz of chicken breast or 2 oz of Trader Joe's sriracha baked tofu or 2 oz of Trader Joe's less guilt chicken salad; an oz or two of a green veggie - normally broccoli or string Beans - or a small broccolini salad. A mini baby bell mozzarella cheese melted on broccoli or cauliflower. Low fat moolicous string cheese dinner is normally a repeat of lunch That's a typical day - sometimes I'll have a couple of apple slices, but I try to stay away from fruit. The sugar makes me crave more sugar. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

KristenVSG2014 replied to KristenVSG2014's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for the pineapple tip, I haven't heard that! I've been drinking two Premier Protein and eating a Greek yogurt or cottage cheese to keep protein up. Sipping on Water as much as I can also. I think being so dependent on someone is the hardest part. But I'm being good and accepting the help and resting. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

7 weeks out and traveling, no appetite, can't eat a thing!
The New Kel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy early Thanksgiving all. I am traveling, got in Monday and am staying in a hotel all week. I have not been able to eat anything except yogurt (a little) since I left home. I've tried everything and nothing is going down without pain and immediate fullness. Also, I have had zero appetite for three days. I have had maybe 400 calories total since Monday. Could it be travel stress? I'm getting a lot of stomach spasms. Tomorrow (Thanksgiving) I will be in mixed company, most of who don't know I've had surgery. Should be interesting, especially not being able to eat at all. -
My surgery was 10/31 and I still struggle to get my Water and Protein shakes in. I don't understand how people are already eating a couple of weeks out, I really have no room for that. I do 2 Premier Protein Shakes to get my 60 grams a protein but it takes me like an hour to get each one down. That plus my water and I may have room for half a yogurt or a few spoonfuls of cream Soup each day and they is it. My surgeon says that is the way it is for the first 5 or 6 weeks, we are swollen inside. But like I said a lot of people seem to be eating and drinking a lot more really soon out. Yes, the swelling will go down and things will loosen up and it will get easier to eat by a couple of months out. By 6 months most people feel like they can eat too much if they don't watch it. Concentrate on getting your water and protein in, my surgeon says anything else is "practice eating" for a couple of months.

I'm in week 5 now. The biggest change for me is my Dietitian said to wean myself off Protein shakes and focus on getting my protein from food. So I'm mostly having Greek Yogurt (Oikos Triple Zero) for breakfast. lunch is chili- I make it in the crockpot on Sundays and measure out a cup to take to work every day. So far I've made a turkey chili with Beans and a green chili with pork. Snacks are lunch meat, string cheese, or a babybel cheese. For dinner I try to experiment with new foods. My dietitian said to try EVERYTHING. Believe it or not- potatoes AND bread are on my plan, as long as the bread is toasted. My Dietitian even said to try thin crust pizza with a lot of meat toppings, and it worked well for me. But most nights I do some sort of protein- Turkey burger, baked tilapia, or steamed salmon. I'm not doing many veggies yet outside of what I throw into my chili.

My liquid goal is 64 oz. I could include Water, decaf tea, yogurt, Meal Replacement shakes/pudding, sugar free pudding and sf popcycles. This new after surgery working toward liquid goals first then worry about Protein.

Week 4 Post Op: Thanksgiving Food
Armygalbonnie replied to carterbeauty83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I plan on pureeing 2 oz of turkey with chicken broth. I actually did it with chicken tonight and it was delicious. I tolerated it well and it was as smooth as yogurt. I won't do mashed potatoes because they are not on my plan. I may try and puree a little bit of green bean casserole since I can have the green Beans and cream soup. -
I'm 5 weeks out and allowed anything except uncooked vegetables and fresh fruit (except bananas). Also no seeds. eggs and yogurt for Breakfast, one Protein shake a day with 30 Gm protein, tuna, salmon, chicken (rotisserie chicken is very tender). Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App

What's your diet like after your pouch heals?
Bufflehead replied to Ms. Brightside's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Weight loss phase: I stayed under 800 calories for the first six months, then under 1100 calories from six months to goal. During weight loss, I was not permitted grains, starchy veggies, tropical fruits, sweets, or liquids with calories other than protein shakes. My meals were 3 small meals per day plus only protein shakes for snacks. A sample menu might be: breakfast: steak and pickle relish wrapped in romaine lettuce. Lunch: tuna salad and a couple of prunes. Dinner: scrambled egg with avocado and melted cheese. Snacks: 2-3 protein shakes. 2. Maintenance phase: I typically stay under 1600 calories. My meals are a little bigger and I do have "real" snacks. I also allow myself one serving of whole grains daily, but I still avoid starchy veggies, tropical fruits, sweets, and liquid calories -- except on very special occasions, such as Christmas. Then, all bets are off! Sample menu: breakfast: hot oat bran cereal with toasted almonds, almond butter, and cashew milk. Lunch: chicken breast and grilled asparagus salad with light champagne vinaigrette dressing. Dinner: baked salmon topped with an egg, roast cauliflower. Snacks: low cal hot cocoa, Greek yogurt, small apple, dried apricots, turkey jerky. I have lost over 200 lbs and am maintaining at a healthy weight. I continue to watch what I eat very carefully. PS this is just an aside and it is a small matter, but none of us sleevers have "pouches." That's what RNY people have. You can accurately call your stomach a stomach, or a sleeve, or a sleeved stomach, but not a pouch. Good luck to you! -

I think they did mine when i was sleep. I guess I'm kind of weird bc I have no problem swallowing I take little sip and breathe through my nose to exhale any extra air and I'm fine. I haven't tried yogurt bc I couldn't stomach it before surgery. But I will try that and see how it work now. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No one is available at your surgeons office? That's crazy. Call them first thing tomorrow. Did you have a swallow test to make sure there were no Lee's before you left the hospital? I had a hard very time swallowing cold foods the first week. My surgeon suggest eating g everything room temperature for a few days. At first I didn't want hot food at all so I don't know if it would have felt like it was stuck. Can you have yogurt? It's easy to digest. Get one with live cultures (robotics) I try to include some fat in my diet so I use 2%. Well cooked preed carrots, cauliflower and butternut squash are low in calories andeasy to swallow. My favorite is carrot coconut curry Soup. Individual serving: 2 oz cooked carrots, a spoon of dehydrated veggie mix from the grocery store bulk bins (soaked in warm Water 1TBS of coconut milk, some yellow curry and pepper flakes pureed together with enough chicken broth to make soup (make thicker for puree later). To get in enough Protein right before eating I mix 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein powder with about 2 oz warm cashew milk and slowly stir it into the already heated soup. This adds 10-11 grams per serving. I make big batches of this and carrots mushroom and freeze 4-5 oz servings into small mason jars. Note: the soup can't be too hot or the protein will clump

When will I feel comfortable again?
laura1116 replied to laura1116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for responding. Now on top of it I am all of a sudden having a problem getting my crystal light down. Only thing that goes down good are my shakes and yogurt and I am supposed to be on my second week of soft foods. Everything I try seems to just feel like it's sticking in my esophagus for a long time. I chew every bite and only take a bite the size of a pea. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

shedo82773 replied to Melanie89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am Lactose Intolerant since my RNY. But I can eat cheese, yogurt. The stinky poo and gas probably the Protein. I bought some drops that you add to the toilet before you go and they seemed to help somewhat. The thing is I forget to put them in. LOL Ferbreeze has come out with a POO SPRAY I have seen it on TV but I can't remember the name of it. -
