  1. The size of the bougie, stalling, losing lots of weight, not losing any, psych evals, bloodwork, waiting for appointments, pre op diets, insurance approval....every has such different experiences! There seems to be no common ground! It's as if every surgeon has different rules, or maybe it's the insurance companies. Are there any hard and fast rules? It is overwhelming!!! I think I am on overload.

    205 I have 3 weeks till I leave

So I am 205 and counting......... ok so really I am 207 this am but really I was 205 this week LOL........ I started my monthly and was so darn mad when I got on the scales this am!!!!! I know its just cause of my monthly pain in my butt time...... I keep telling myself its OK, you have 3 weeks till Kauai. Been going swimming except for last week such a crazy week with Christmas coming and all. I think my biggest issue is from swimming I am Soooooooooooo tired I am going to bed like at 7ish or so........... today I laid down at 6pm and woke up at 10pm Just GREAT!!! I hope everyone enjoys there holidays, Remember if you fall off just get back up and say I can start a new day tomorrow!! Enjoy and don't stress if you eat something that you normal wouldn't as my NUT says everyone is entitled to a little goodie time!
  3. Hi all....I have heard that this sometimes happens but it's a first for me. Gonna give some background info here. Banded 3/24/10 First fill 5/4/10 and got 4.4ccs in a 10 cc band. Last 2 weeks have really had not much of an appetite and Surgeons office said that's ok, just keep hydrated and get Protein in which I have been doing faithfully. Last night, I was REALLY hungry so me and my partner went out for dinner. I ate till I was a bit over full but did not vomit or PB or anything. It all went down fine.... This morning I have some serious restriction. The thought of one bite of food makes me feel awful....I have had Water and a Protein Drink coffee, which is my normal routine. I never am hungry til later in the morning... I am also having a bit of pain....??? The pain is all around my upper rib cage in the front and the back. I would describe the pain as if I wore a bra and the band size was way too small...I know it's not my heart....maybe my lungs? or just the muscles all around my rib cage....??? I have read posts about people being tight in the morning and I usually am just a bit but this feels really tight.... Any thoughts or suggestions anyone??? Thanks, Meg
  4. I went from band to sleeve. Only two weeks post op for the sleeve. Yes doctor explained that due to a lot of scaring from the band that the weight loss will be slower, but still very successful. It's still a tool at the end of the day and depends on how you use it. However, I realised that I just couldn't live with the band anymore with the side effects. My doctor that did the sleeve stopped doing bands 4 years ago due to the side effects and higher complications. He said that there is a big difference between quality of life and he no longer wanted to promote the band. I don't regret anything ????

    Help

I cracked a rib last week from fainting when I was sick and dehydrated. Now I'm on pain meds and just laying around. I've been doing good since I had my surgery in Aug I've lost 60 lbs. Today I grazed all day for the first time and it scared me. I don't want to revert back to old ways. Support needed please!!

    Last night...

So as my work day was coming to close my friend called me and asked if I wanted to come over for a glass of wine.... BAD IDEA. I should have known one glass of wine would turn into two and then ... into three... You know the routine. Well I ended up having 2 glasses of wine, turkey spaghetti, and 2 chocolate chip cookies :tired I was pissed at myself for doing that... TOTALLY. Why do I sabatoge myself? Why do I do this?!!!? What I am wondering is how do I draw the line from being a fanatic about my weight with out turning away my friends...??? I don't want to seem like home body or a downer - but I just want to stay on track so I will have to turn down my friends invitations.... Anyway I woke up this morning and decided it was a good day to wash my sheets and pillow cases... So I spruced up my room a bit, dusted and straightened up a few things. I made some tuna salad and had a few whole wheat crackers with it. I had my multi vitamins and am just waiting for my sheets in the dryer to make my bed. I have a psychologist appointment today to give me an evaluation to ok me for the lapband surgery, I BETTER NOT ACT CRAZY!!! lol. Just kidding... I will update you guys later.

    What the heck...

So I was banded on 4/23 and I have done good...However I know feellike I have no restiction and I am stuck...! I have not gained anything, but I have not lost anything in a week either... I almost feel like I have fallen off the ship and I am swiming as fast as I can to get back on.. Has anyone else had any of the same feelings?

    how fast?

I lost 136 pounds in less than 6 months. However, please realize that this sudden weight loss phase will come to an end. You will hit stalls that can last for months and then you will simply stop losing weight altogether. At that point if you are not at goal you will have to increase your physical activity and exercise in order to lose weight again.

    Back pain

I had lap band about 6 months ago. For about two weeks I've had awful "full" feeling every time I eat. Now I'm getting a bad cramping/aching across top of my back. It seems to lessen up after I pass gas but it's more frequent. Anyone ever have this? It's terrible!

    Pre-op diet weight GAIN?!?!

Good point...the first week was like clockwork. The last few days has been less...substantial. I thought just because my bowels have been emptied so less to get rid of!

    insurance inquiry approval

. Oh wow, well since u submitted on the 7th. I would have your doctor office call UHC this week the sooner the better and see if they can get an answer. Start the liquid diet preparation this week. Majority includes substituting meals with Protein shakes. Goal is to lose some weight to help shrink your liver. I can email you my pre op packet. So if u are pressed for time you would be ahead of the game. I understand the job part. I work in a bank at a big branch that isn't fully staffed right now. Some1 just got fired n another got transfer so, the manager does the schedule a month in advance so I would need a date set by the beginning of sept for October bc I can't over lap with another employee. I plan on using a vacation week. I told my manager I need my gallbladder out n it might be in oct lol so she has a heads up.
  12. Please don't throw in the towel yet! An average weight loss goal is 1-3 pounds a week. Contrary to our beliefs, we don't always lose weight in a straight line. There are minor ups and downs along the way as we trend downward. At this rate, you have lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. You are above the average. So stick to the plan and have patience. (I drive myself nuts if I weigh more than once a week, btw. Weighing yourself every day can be counter-productive, in my opinion.) You can do this! Amy

    Excersise

I have a completely knee replacement with limited bend so I completely understand! It definitely limits what I can and cannot do. I am 15 weeks out so I am working on adding fruits and veggies into my diet. I am getting better. I still have some premixed shakes but only use them seldomly. The things I don't eat at all.... Breads (occasional whole grain slice of toast); rice, Pasta, processed foods, sweets, sodas, fried foods, caffeine. I generally start with a scrambled eggs with turkey sausage crumbles and a Greek yogurt with my supplements. dinner will be a Protein with 1 cup of mixed greens and 1/3 cup of berries. I add a lite dressing. Supper again is a protein with a vegetable. I will have a morning snack of nuts/cheese or fruit and 1/2 a Protein Shake. And afternoon snack is usually a yogurt. I also am addicted to SF Popsicles. I get between 750-850 calories a day and my nutrient count is usually protein-60-80gr; carbs 50-60; fats 28-less.

    Please Help!

I hit a stall at exactly this point after surgery. Hopefully it's just that. And when you say you're "probably" eating too many calories, does that mean that you're not keeping track? I would suggest using a nutritional tracking tool like fitness pal to count your calories. That should give you a better idea of whether it's just your regular stall, or if you are actually taking in too many calories. Good luck!
  15. hi everyone I'm having a problem.I got sleeve a month ago and two weeks I stopped losing weight had anyone had this problem or any advice and what am I doing wrong?

    Please Help!

Congratulations on your surgery. it is not uncommon for people to hit stalls around week three (and several times throughout your losing stages). Your body is adjusting and still healing. Stick to the plan your doctor laid out for you and the numbers should start to move again. When is your next followup? Borrowed this link from Butterthebean's signature http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpUK1tKth8E Good read about stalls.
  17. Well, tonight the Pizzaman had his last slice of Neapolitan heaven for a long time because tomorrow he starts his one week pre-op diet for the banding. pizza is not on the menu. Oh mama mia! :faint:
  18. My dr wants me to do 2 protein replacement meal with one solid meal of protein and veggies for two weeks. 2nd day and starving. Does it get any easier? I also hope I don't have this starving feeling after my surgery on the 4th of Nov.
  19. AAAAHHHHH!!!! I'm over 5 weeks post-op. I can pretty much eat anything, and anything it is!!!! I have very little restriction and find myself eating drive-thru food and generally eating way more than I should. Alas, this week have gained back about 3 pounds, no duh. I have my first fill scheduled for this friday. But I find myself feeling angry, anxious and generally concerned. I know I need it to stop this madness, but I'm afraid I'm gonna hurt myself or my band by this stupidity!! On top of that, if my blood pressure dosen't go down by the end of July, my MD is putting me on pills. I need a kick square in the @ss!! Happy Canada Day and 4th of July to all!!

    New and sleeved on 6/16

I think it probably depends on the surgeon. I just looked at my post op diet plan, and it looks like I'll start Protein drinks/shakes as soon as I get home. I'm glad I looked because for some reason I thought I was to do clear liquids ONLY and that I didn't start Protein shakes until week 2. I'd better get some clarification on that. C.

    Snacks

We are told to have three meals and three snacks....and it should all balance out to 1000-1200 calories per day and 60-80grams of protein. So, six times a day, I eat about 150-200 calories. I'm never hungry...it's a lot of food:) As our stomachs stretch a bit and can tolerate a larger meal months down the road, we'll decrease snacks to 100 calories, and up meals to 300 calories. Eventually, we may eliminate snacks.

    Eggs

I've been very fortunate. I've not had any issues with any food. I am just over 4 weeks post op. Have you tried it cooked a different way? I like mine over easy. They are such a good source of protein I hope you can figure it out. Good luck!

    New and sleeved on 6/16

With my surgeon the post op diet he has outlined is clear Protein week one, then on to full liquids week two, pureed foods week 3, soft regular foods week 4....and then on to regular foods. Always eat protein first and then veggies and then carbs if there's room. And no drinking 30 min before , during or 30 min after meals. Good Luck!
  24. I was in a wicked stall it seemed, then I realized ... I FINALLY made it to onederland. yeahhhhhhhhhh!!!1

    are you still losing

I am 2 years out and struggling through maintenance, trying to keep my wt balanced within 3 pounds.....hard work. I have been having more unfills than fills, because of extreme reflux. I have restriction most of the time. I had a low profile port installed a week ago and the leftover fluid went from the now smaller port up to the band and caused a small overfill. Hopefully I am on the mend and won't have reflux/vomiting tonight. Mimi
